From the NYR:
NEW YORK RANGERS POST-GAME NOTES (Regular Season Game 2, Away 2)
New York Rangers 1, Anaheim Ducks 2 (SO)
Ericsson Globe Arena – October 8, 2011
Team Notes:
-The Rangers were defeated by the Anaheim Ducks, 2-1, in the shootout tonight at Ericsson Globe Arena in Stockholm, Sweden, to conclude the 2011 Compuware NHL Premiere.
-The Rangers have now posted a record of 2-0-2 all-time in four regular season contests in Europe. New York participated in the inaugural NHL Premiere in Prague, Czech Republic to kick-off the 2008-09 season, having won back-to-back contests against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
-The Blueshirts held the Ducks scoreless in six power play opportunities (8:11), and are now 10-11 for a 90.9% success rate on the penalty kill through two games.
-New York registered a 59% faceoff winning percentage, having won 32-of-54 faceoff attempts in the contest, and finished the 2011 Compuware NHL Premiere winning 66-of-114 faceoff attempts (57.9%) in two games. Brad Richards led all skaters with 10 faceoff wins and a 77% faceoff winning percentage (10-13) in the contest.
-The Rangers out-hit the Ducks, 20-13, led by Ryan Callahan’s game-high six hits.
-The Blueshirts were credited with 18 blocked shots, led by Dan Girardi and Ryan Callahan who recorded three apiece.
Player Notes:
-Henrik Lundqvist stopped 27 of 28 shots through regulation and overtime, and three of four shootout attempts to capture third star honors. He finished the back-to-back set in Sweden with a 1.86 goals against average and a .931 save percentage (54-58). Lundqvist is now 37-25 with a .768 save percentage in shootouts. His 37 career shootout wins are the most in the NHL all-time.
-Brad Richards notched the Rangers’ lone goal, his first as a Ranger, with 2:15 remaining in regulation to force overtime. He also led all skaters with 10 faceoff wins and a 77% winning percentage (10-13) in 22:33 of ice time. Richards completed the back-to-back set in Sweden with a 79.2% faceoff winning percentage, winning 19-of-24 faceoff attempts over the span.
-Ryan McDonagh tallied the only assist on Richards’ third period goal and logged 26:41 of ice time.
-Rangers’ captain Ryan Callahan led all skaters with six hits, and led all forwards with three blocked shots and 23:29 of ice time. Callahan set a Rangers record for most shots on goal in the team’s season opener with 11 shots, and tallied a goal while making his debut as team captain yesterday against the Kings. His 11 shots are the most by an NHL player in a season-opening game since Pavel Bure registered 11 shots for the Vancouver Canucks on Oct. 3, 1997 vs. Anaheim.
-Dan Girardi led all skaters with 31:25 of ice time and tied for the team-high with three blocked shots in the contest. Girardi has logged a league leading 30:51 of ice time per game, and leads the Rangers with five blocked shots through two games.

if Christensen is keeping Avery in Hartford, then he is worth every penny they pay him!
LMAO! Danekyo said “Adysmal”
He and JR should have a beer.
Forth?
Daneyko doesn’t drink anymore … JR, well …
LOL! He doesn’t drink? Could have fooled me!
I need Kovalchuckles and Halak to have a big nights! Do it!
That’s weird. Parise wasn’t introduced last. He was the 7th or 8th introduced. Captain’s always go last!
I soooo hope he leaves them high and dry next season, while having a 40-50 goal year. I’d love that!
Wow! Devils have Boulton and Janssen dressed. Rhode Island Ranger must be packing some serious bonerage.
Ya know, a team having a goon that is completely useless except for being able to fight is a waste of a roster spot, but what’s a team to do when everyone else in their division has legitimate heavyweights who won’t hesitate to push the smaller opposing teams around and constantly stir up carcillo in head-to-head matches?
In our case, is Rupp the answer? And Prust? They’re both game, but are they adequate for the job?
I’m not trying to get into the argument that went on in the last thread – but I think that this is a legitimate question – the goonery isn’t over, even if we don’t care to participate.
Get to hotel room. Put Flyers-Devils on. Immediately hear Chico withering on about Maaaaarrrtty. Urinate on laptop.
Don’t urinate on your own laptop! Go urinate on somebody else’s! Don’t break your own stuff!
Jimbo
My two cents: No team with remotely sane coaching/management should spend a second of their time wondering how to contend with Cam Janssen.
Wow! I want our PP to look like the Devils PP.
What a beautiful setup! Giroux makes it 1-0
Chico: “The Devils fans need to be re-jacked up”
Haha!
Giroux’s got the goods…...he knows how to score.
LW, so what’s an opponent to do? Turtle up every time Janssen starts throwing his weight around? He’s out there – what do you do when the opposing coach puts him on the ice to stir up carcillo?
DiPietro is trying to take over as “The Beard”
Man, that guy looks beat the hell up. He’s aged horribly over the last four years.
Steve Cangialosi just said: “Acquiring Devils tickets has never been easier.”
I didn’t know that it was possible to have less fans show up in the first place!
Who, ORR? DiPietro has aged?
You’re just mean, Latona! ;-D
Christensen providesthe much needed hardness to the coach.
Kris Newberries with a pair of goals in the first period for the whale.
Janssen barely plays three minutes a game for a reason. If I’m coaching against him, I want him on the ice as much as possible.
Not saying you run away from him, but whatever he can “stir up” is massively overrated.
Yeah, Jimbo. He looks really unhealthy compared to the DiPietro from a few years back. Youc an just see it in his face. Stress will do that to you, I suppose.
OK, ORR – I have not seen him yet this season – is he playing tonight? I thought the Isles game had a later start tonight for some reason.
Man, the Sens look horrific.
Jimbo, they’re going with Montoya. I don’t know who’s the backup though. I think they’re going to do what Renney did with Hank and Weekes back in 05-06. Who ever wins, plays.
Howie Rose and butch Goring are, hands down, the most creepiest looking duo in hockey broadcasting. Find me a twosome more creepy looking, and my mind will be blown!
Go Halak!
I hear you, LW – but say that you’re playing the Devs in your arena, and your team scores a goal, maybe with their 3rd line on the ice.
The following face-off, Janssen is put on the ice, along with a couple of other non-fancy, rugged players. And your first line is due to be out there – who do you put on the ice? You have nobody that can match up with him to neutralize him if he decides to lay a carcillo treatment on to one of your top guys…
It’s gonna happen a lot – Janssens in NJ, “Village People” out on the Island with their thug coach, Shelley on the Flys…...who’s on the Pens? They’ve got some mean motor-scooters on that team, too…
Sens look bad – they’re making the Leafs look like a playoff team!
If Grachev and/or Horak scores a goal tonight, this place should be entertaining.
Actually, Grachev is scratched.
ORR, Howie and Butch look like it’s Hallowe’en a little early – they need to take off the masks! ;-)
LOL! It’s like one of those “Goosebumps” books by R.L. Stine. This chick bought a mask for Halloween, and she put it on, and she could never take it off. That’s wht they can’t take off those horrific masks.
Rambling thoughts on tonight’s game:
1. Clearly not a good performance, but the Rangers will play worse games this year (maybe not on offense…)
2. Anytime you can keep Getzlaf, Perry and Ryan off the board, you take it. Anytime you only muster 15 (mostly non-challenging) shots against an average defensive team, you probably don’t…
3. Hopefully, the immediate concern about the defense has lessened. Some individual errors, but generally solid aside from the first period against the Kings.
4. McDonagh is seriously good at both playing one-on-ones and breaking up plays with his stick.
5. Controversial thought, but the Rupp-Parros fight didn’t change the momentum of anything, nor would it have if Rupp had demolished Parros.
6. Benefit of a relatively quiet crowd: Being able to hear from the second tier Getzlaf call Gaborik a “piece of Carcillo” across the benches.
In the Leafs game early in the first period, Sens put Konopka on the ice, and the Leafs put out Orr AND Brown – and Konopka and Brown went at it….
The NHL has ruled that the regular players have to play like europansies, and they aren’t allowed to bodycheck each other anymore, but they haven’t outlawed intimidation yet – and I don’t think they’re about to.
Jimbo
Unless it’s a blowout, it’s completely self-defeating to take your best offensive players off the ice just because someone like Janssen is on it.
If he wants s fight, let him waste his energy and discipline looking for one. If he’s going to do something idiotic, take the PP. (OK, maybe have to take the leap of faith that your team is a threat to score on the PP there…)
I hear you, LW – but if he’s looking for trouble, someone who’s on the ice is going to have to deal with him – either one of the forwards or the defensemen. Or else his opposing position player is gonna get a lot of abuse, and hopefully not a beatdown.
Even Gabby fought Carcillo – Carcillo isn’t Janssen, but he’s more aggressive than Gabby is. I don’t want our top guys having to get roughed up by our opponent’s thugs…
I’ll leave CTB to bring the advanced stats into this, but If the “trouble” a Janssen-type could cause was of so much value to his team (or detriment to the opposition), players like that would not be only getting a handful of minutes per game. Coaches would be stupid for not putting them out there a lot more.
(Janssen isn’t playing tonight, incidentally.)
Gawd, the Sens look awful! Why can’t we play them six times a season!?
Hattie for Newbury in the first minute of the second
Jimbo, we’d still probably lose at least half of the games. That’s Rangers hockey! Lose against the crappy teams.
OK, LW – not looking to argue – it’s just that I saw our NYR get pushed around so much in the past that I just don’t savor the thought of us being “toothless” in a rough division – those 70’s Flyers beatdowns have scarred me for life! The Isles and their thugs also took too many liberties with us…
You’re right, ORR…..unfortunately!
>>>Hattie for Newbury in the first minute of the second
Bring him up!!! ;-D
Hattie!
Bit before my time (being 26 and all), but understand where you’re coming from. 70s/80s style beatings just won’t/don’t happen now though. Completely understand (if disagreeing) that some fans wish they would though.
It’s still quite good when the Leafs get false hope from games like this…
2-0 Flyers.
Devils still suck. Kovalchuckles still sucks.
3-0 Flys…....
FLA 2, NYI 0 after 2….
Simmonds just smoked some Devil in a scrap….
Holy carcillo, did Simmonds just take care of Clarkson?
LW, if Reimer shuts out the Sens tonight, they’ll be getting the parade route ready for the Stanley Cup celebration in Toronto!! ;-D
I don’t think it was Clarkson, Carp…..some other victim, I think..
Whoa!! It WAS Clarkson!! WooHoo!
Wow! Simmonds embarrassed Clarkson. I love it!
LMAO! Colton Orr scores a goal! Amazing!
Hahahaha!!! Get ready for the parade, Toronto!
If Simmonds scored a hat trick and someone threw Carmen Miranda’s fruit-laden hat on the ice would it be considered racist? And would you assume it was revenge for his homophobic slur?
Avery presumably friends with Simmonds again now?
That’s a tough one, Dd.
Devils shutout by Flyers on opening night. Flyers look like a pretty good team, I have to say.
That’s a lotta information to process, ddeb! Can’t figure that one out…..maybe so!
At this very early point of the season, I would certainly agree with you, ORR – Flys look pretty good.
One of the Devs got a late boarding penalty – let’s see if there’s any fines involved!
If Daneyko doesn’t drink anymore, how come most Saturday nights you can find him sitting at the bar at the Grasshopper in Morristown? You always tries to pickup young chicks but they’re always a big plump and barely know who he is lol
What happens if the rain in Spain doesn’t fall mainly on the plane? Will Crosby return from injury? Will Brad Isbister return and score 50+ goals for the Fishsticks? Will Oceania cease to exist?
The world will never know.
What a dumb move by Semin. Boards a guy with a second left in regulation. Now the Caps are likely to face a PP in OT.
I don’t get it. There’s just no point to what he did. Such a dope.
Flyers look pretty good, indeed. However, I feel that they will be of the manner that they either dominate the game, or they themselves are dominated. I don’t think they’re built to hang around like the Rangers do in some games where they perform poorly, and I don’t think that they’re built like the Rangers in that they can control all aspects of play and have nothing to show for it. Just my take.
Oh-oh!! Leafs gave up 3 goals – maybe cancel that parade…...
5-4 Leafs!!! Definitely cancel that parade!
Bryzgalov has always been a pretty good regular season goalie. But, the playoffs have been pretty bad for him. So, I think it could potentially be deja vu all over again for them.
Ottawa seems to have a knack for letting teams amass large leads on them and then making the games close. At least after two games.
6-4 Leafs. Parade back on, baby!
6-5 Leafs! Cancel the parade again!
I just saw that gal who Avery got in trouble for his “sloppy seconds” comment….is she still going with Phaneuf?
Wow! That Sens player is a moron. Passing instead of shooting? Moron!
Apparently she is, Jimbo. She was a lot hotter when she was with Avery. Being a puck bunny wears on you, I guess.
She’s in the Toronto crowd – Elisha Cuthbert…..
I don’t know – she still looks pretty good to me, but it was a quick glance….. ;-D
She’s probably still cute, but back when she was in “Girl Next Door”, she was in her prime.
She was seriously hot in that movie where she played an ex-porno actress…..
That’s the one!! She was HOT in that film!
Jimbo,
You’re awesome. I don’t know what makes me say that, but I find something so awesome about the way you post.
Time to watch the Flames burn the Ice Chickens!
I’d better watch myself – when I get into this stuff with ORR, Carp usually has to step in to calm things down! ;-)
Well, thank you, Latona! I’ve no idea what I do that’s so different, but I’m accepting all compliments here! Much obliged!
LOL! I’m a bad influence on you.
Anybody see Phaneuf destroy Da Costa? Perfect clean hit.
flyers and sabres have been most impressive in east through 2 games
rangers thought should thank hank for 2 pts they were an utter disgrace today
Always fun when the Devils lose. Latona I agree with what youre saying about Philly. But the most important difference between them and the Rangers is that the Flyers produce more with the same or less effort. I’m judging that of course on last season through these first couple days of this season. It would be a major disappointment to see this Rangers team play with the same efforts and hard work that they did all last season and still come up short because they havent learned from the things that shot them in the foot last year.
That Phaneuf hit was DEADLY, ORR – the league office is probably formulating some rule as we type to outlaw that hit ex-post-facto and any others like it till the end of time!
Eric true but it’s two games. They went 2-0 in Europe last time and it didnt amount to anything. They looked great to open last season in Buffalo too and that didn’t mean much..
Can you imagine if anyone hits Skidley like the Phaneuf hit when he comes back!? The guy will be banned for eternity!
>>>LOL! I’m a bad influence on you.
Afraid so, ORR! Hahaha!
I am neither a positive nor a negative influence on anyone here at RR. Just a plain old influence.
>>>Time to watch the Flames burn the Ice Chickens!
Unfortunately, we get the Penguins feed – I was hoping for the HNIC feed…
orr
europansy semin forgot that the league was going all europansy rules!!
I always hope for the HNIC feed, Jimbo. They do it like no other.
we need someone on d that hits like dion
Too bad we let Backman walk, wicky. He was the best at that.
Wally Backman!? He was kinda small!?
Absolutely right about the HNIC feeds, Latona – I don’t know why NBC/Versus can’t try to be more like them…
latona
LMFAO
Flames have had a few good chances so far. Think they can potentially be a spoiler in the West.
Jimbo, I was just getting the hose out to cool you down.
Ugh! Halak sucks!
Hey I wanna influence someone too!
Thanks, Carp – I think I’m OK now….. ;-)
They nearly made it last year, Latona. So, you could be right. Although, Hawks were 8th, but I think they improved. Flames didn’t do much, besides bring in Stempniak.
What happened, ORR?
Be careful, ORR – C3 is gonna try to scalp you again for a goalie!
Blues tie up the game, then Halak gives up a goal. I should have never drafted him. I waited too long to draft a goalie, and had to settle for him!
LOL! After the Devils game, Kovalchuckles for Lehtonen isn’t that bad of a deal. But, I can’t give up on the Euro Pansy.
I don’t like my team. I did a bad job of drafting, I think.
Oh, I see…...sorry.
I’m afraid that Kovy is gonna score a lot this season – unfortunately for the NYR, but not for your fantasy team….
2-0 final, FLA over Isles…...Jose Theodore with a shutout!?
I hope so.
My lineup is…
F – H. Sedin, Illya Kovalchuckles, Derek Roy, Logan Couture, Derek Step-On, Tyler Seguin, Tomas Kopecky, Kyle Turris, Martin Hanzal, Taylor Hall, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Mark Scheifele, Evander Kane
D – Erik Johnson, Alex Pietrangelo, Keith Yandle, Christian Air-Hoff, Kimmi Timmonen
G – Halak – DiPietro
The Devs and Isles getting shutout in their home openers is definitely making these OT/Shootout losses a lot easier to take.
Oh, Jeez!! Halak AND DiPietro!? WTB were you thinking?
lol Agreed ORR
Lol. Kimmi Timmonen.
I had no idea what I was doing in my drafts either, ORR. I was late to both, however, so I think that helped somewhat.
Pretty good forwards, fair defense, but DiPietro as one of your goalies?
Billy Jaffe needs to stop at one of those eye brow threading huts at the mall
Rangers look godawful so far.
Also, good to see that Christensen move already paying dividends.
We need some Dion Phaneufs on defense, but what do we get? Dion and the Belmonts….
>>>Billy Jaffe needs to stop at one of those eye brow threading huts at the mall..
Or comb them up onto his forehead…..
I just picked up DiPietro, but I got rid of him. I picked up LaBarbera, but now I want to get rid of him!
Rozsival bloodied on the ice. I didn’t see what happened
I have no idea why I picked up Timmonen.
Het het dumday hayday hayda het het lol
Is Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarty stil available!?? ;-D
orr
are we in cccp’s league together or mine? I can’t remember in my cold medicine haze
How r u feeling Wick?
>>>Het het dumday hayday hayda het het lol..
Is that our defensemen trying to communicate with each other!?
The new and improved Rangers of 2011-2012:
Hope Lundqvist stands on his head for 65 minutes
jimbo
like carcillo, thanks for asking!
I blame it on mickey
any idea if woywitka is ct bound or we are going to get a chance to see him with the big club?
What is this Bill Pido idiot talking about key goal? there’s no key goal for the Rangers- they lost!
lol correct Jimbo
Evening gents.
I saw that, wicky..
mickey
wha?
Dano’s picks- Tampa 9th and Carolina 11th..I thought you said he doesn’t drink anymore Carp?
CC’s league, Wick.
Someone drafted Brodiva. I don’t know who though.
orr
i’ll trade you the bulin wall for a lifetime of ben and jerry’s!
The Avs retired Forsberg’s #21 tonight. I had no idea. They’re losing to the Wings 1-0. Var-LA-Mov is in net.
anyone know when nhl12 has its first roster update?
Make that 2-0
Wick, it should be after every team plays, which should be in two-three days.
Also, the jersey code will be released.
I saw you blaming me for you being… not so sure it’s m fault :)
Hey, Mickey! How are ya?
Evening, Micksteroni.
I love Detroit.
The Red Wings. I have no opinion about the city, as I’ve never been there. I’ve heard plenty of things, but I don’t deal in preconceived notions.
I’m doing OK, Jimbo.
Hello, Latona!
>>>lol correct Jimbo
I thought so! I’m a doowop fan…
Yes it is, Mickey – and I’m feeling poorly as well….... :-(
Sorry to hear that, Jimbo :(
Man, I hate the Penguins.
No need to be racist against interracial birds, Latona!
Thank you – see, our hearts are broken…...... ;-/
Awwwwwwwwww, I sorry guys
What the heck happened? I go away for a couple minutes, and the Pens are up 3-1!?
Their miscegenation is totally unacceptable, ORR.
And for an absentee suitor, too – oh, the misery…....
Freekin’ Malkin – Frankenstein…..
Hey where the heck has Eddie x3 been?
WHOA!! Cooke got rocked with an major elbow!! Hahaha!!
Probably in some kind of Avery detox program. Poor guy!!
There’s a taste of your own medicine!
thanks orr
Was it Glencross, Jimbo? I know he likes to throw headshots.
Corey Sarich, ORR…...quite a shot!!
Malkin in a fight with Glencross – europansy hockey isn’t a certainty tonight!
There’s been a lot of “Old Time Hockey” today!
Hat trick!
Hey Mickey! Did you ever find that Jewish deli? And the pastrami sandwich?
night aasens!!!
Goodnight, Wick!! Feel better!
Never could find it, Jimbo. :(
Really!? WTB!? I thought we found a couple of places for you to try!
Who won the Malkin/Glencross fight?
Are we going to make Katz’s send you one via overnight delivery!?
My sense of direction sucks, that is probably why.
Malkin’s jersey got pulled over his head, but they didn’t throw him out of the game, either…
There was no clear-cut winner – I think Glencross was surprised that he took the bait, though!
If they can, that would be awesome.
Oh, I understand, Mickey – well, we’ll have to get you a GPS that seeks out pastrami!
I want some Ben & Jerry’s so damn bad! It’s just one of those nights!
If anyone here is planning on buying some, you should buy “Mission To Marzipan”. It’s amazing!
Sweet Cream Ice Cream + Marzipan Swirl + Almond Cookies = Orgasmic Taste Buds!
It tastes like Toasted Almond Ice Cream. So good! I’m gonna have to look all over for it, cause I bought the last one!
James, well, I don’t drink anymore and I picked Tampa first and Anaheim to reach the Cup final.
Jimbo, that’s happened three times today, with no misconduct. I guess they change the rules as they go.
5-1 Sharks!
6-1 now. They must really miss Bryzgalov right now.
I’m not an ice cream guy, ORR; nor am I a dessert guy in general. If I were, I’m sure that would sound delicious to me!
Yeah, Phoenix is doing so bad tonight that they’re gonna want to move back to – Oh, wait – they can’t!!
Hmmm…wait – maybe they did give a misconduct to Malkin – I don’t see his frankenstein mug on the bench…
Sounds like a plan, Jimbo.
Carp, I’m both sorry and glad you won’t be visiting me in STL.
Hahaha!!! “Mission to Marzipan”!!! Where do they come up with these names?
Jimbo,
In retaliation for your comment in which you claimed I posted a hurtful statement, I’m going to have to say, in reference to your Phoenix comment, “that’s just mean!”
Mickey, I’ve tried to bring home pastrami from delis and heat it up later, but it always suffers badly from the experience – if they shipped it to you, it would probably be even worse.
There’s only one way to have pastrami, and that’s freshly taken out of the hot water/stream bath, then sliced immediately and eaten – it doesn’t really reheat well…
Hahaha!!! You’re absolutely correct, Latona!! I meant to be!! ;-D
No offense intended to you, however!
>>>hot water/stream bath,
That was supposed to be STEAM bath…....I’m posting like I’m on speed today, but I guarantee that I am not!
Jimbo,
Did you own a delicatessen in one of your past or current lives? You seem very knowledgeable of the meats.
Horak with an assist! Fire Sather!
And trade Erixon
Oliver Ekman-Larsson scores for the Yotes.
Mats Zucarello-Assen vs Oliver Ekman-Larson!
Latona, past lives, I don’t remember, but maybe! – but in this life, I’ve never owned a deli, but I’m a big fan of pastrami – so I’m well-versed in the enjoyment of it! :-)
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins should be the official in that match. Magnus Paajarvi-Svensson should have the call.
I do recall having a pretty good pastrami sandwich in Ridgewood, NJ, though – in a Kosher deli whose name escapes me now – I’m also old!
What was the name of that kid who scored the regulation goal against the NYR today? Another triple-name kid – why, why, why!?
Most of the delis in Bergen County are delicious. In fact, it’s more of a chore to find poor food around here than it is good food! I’m really privileged in that regard.
Cogliano had the Anaheim goal, Jimbo. Devante Smith-Pelley (or something like that) had an assist. That’s who you’re thinking of.
Malkin IS on the Pens bench – he wasn’t given a misconduct – but he hasn’t played in the third period…the Pens announcers are making noises about his knee acting up – the one that he had surgery on…
Yeah, that’s the kid – Devante…....WTB!? You are correct!
I’ll have to ask my GF what that Kosher deli was – it was up on a hill, I think…and the food was very good – she’s Jewish, and she had some God-forsaken thing that I wouldn’t touch on a dare, but I had a pastrami sandwich and a potato knish, and I was happy!
Then there’s Jonathan Audy-Marchassault, or what ever.
Devante Smith-Pelley is that guy. LOL! Damn these names!
Flames suck! They almost tied the game, but couldn’t, and gave up an empty-netter! 5-3 Pens…
It’s definitely game over, season over for the Flames.
I wonder where Phoenix will end up. There’s no way they stay there, right? I hope we don’t get another Canadian team.
Toronto apparently wants another team, which is stupid. Quebec City, Hamilton, and Saskatoon also want one, so I’ve read.
TSNBobMcKenzie Sounds like Sarich’s hit on Cooke being viewed by league as “full body” hit with incidental contact to head. Not deemed “targeting.”
Hmmm, I only saw the hit once, but I thought it was a direct elbow to the jaw.
It looked like an elbow to the jaw to me, too – and it probably felt like one to Cooke, too – the byfuglien!
The Canadians dearly want another team – I’d bet on Quebec City, if it’s gonna happen…I don’t think the Leafs want to have another team in their vicinity….
If the hit had been on Sid the Kid, however, it would be a capital crime – Cooke, I think the league doesn’t give a spit!
Goodnight, anyone who’s left here – I need to go put Ben-Gay on my fingers and on my keyboard after all the posting I did today – this has to be some kind of perverse record for me!
As Mama says, Ta!!
Hattie Again!!
Last. good night. Penguins suck. Devils suck. Islanders suck. Flyers suck. Trade everybody. Season Over. Avery for President.
I would say its more realistic to predict Tampa first rather than 9th Carp. Those hockey night live guys are like the nhl version of the little rascals
Wellllll….................
In between monstrous rainstorms which kept knocking out my TV, I TRIED to watch the game, but I tell you, with a few exceptions it was like Renneyville replay. The same old same old.
Without Lundqvist they’d have looked like amateur night in the park. Outside of Callahan, and Richards and Girardi they looked, as a team, pathetic.
Got a chance to watch several other games , and Bruins are awesome.Saw Gilroy playing steady and regular defense for the Bolts ( wears # 97),
and was fast and solid playing on RIGHT defense, his normal position.
Team that surprised me was the PANTHERS. Man did they play good hockey. They,ve got Jovanevski back and he looks like a kid out there. But they are FAST. Weisse and Booth both back, and flying. It,s been pouring rain now for the past 3 days and projected to continue for the next 4-5. Very depressing.
Too bad there was no way to get Momma;s pic for the blog. Let;s hope that the next game shows some evidence of improvement. And EC was really doing solid body work in his own zone.
And there were times in the Ducks end ( gee that doesn’t sound so good…..lemme rephrase it…...)
in the opponent;s zone, that I really missed Avery,,,long periods where they couldn;t control the puck behind the net…but…that;s Tortorella for you.
