MSG NETWORKS announces New York Rangers 2011-2012 telecast schedule

Slate Includes First Preseason Game Tonight from Albany and Three Preseason Games from Europe Starting Friday, September 30

New York – September 21, 2010 – MSG Networks is set to telecast another full schedule of New York Rangers hockey for the 2011-2012 season. MSG Network, MSG 2 and MSG Plus will telecast a total of 76 of the team’s 82 games in the regular season, and six of the team’s preseason match-ups. A complete schedule is below.

Tonight at 7:00 p.m. on MSG Network, the Rangers open their preseason schedule from the Times Union Center in Albany, NY as they take on the New Jersey Devils. Starting Friday, September 30, MSG Network will exclusively telecast three Rangers preseason games from Sweden, Slovakia and Switzerland.

The Rangers open up the regular season with two games in Sweden as they face the Los Angeles Kings on Friday, October 7 and the Anaheim Ducks on Saturday, October 8. Both games will be telecast on MSG Network at 1:00 p.m. Eastern with the pre-game show kicking off the action at 12:30 p.m. Eastern.

The Blueshirts start their stateside slate of games on Saturday, October 15 with a five-game road trip, including stops at the New York Islanders (MSG Network, 7:00 p.m.), Vancouver Canucks (October 18, MSG Plus, 10:00 p.m.), Calgary Flames (October 20, MSG Network, 9:30 p.m.), Edmonton Oilers (October 22, MSG Plus, 10:00 p.m.), and Winnipeg Jets (October 24, MSG Plus, 8:30 p.m.). Most regular season games will be preceded by a half-hour pre-game show and followed by a post-game show. “HOCKEY NIGHT LIVE,” which is telecast on both MSG Network and MSG Plus, will follow Saturday night games throughout the season.

Additionally, Sam Rosen will return for his 28th season as the play-by-play voice of the Rangers and will be joined for the sixth season by in-game analyst Joe Micheletti. Al Trautwig will serve as host of Rangers telecasts for all home games and Bill Pidto will handle host responsibilities for all road games. John Giannone will resume his reporter duties for both home and away games.

MSG Networks continues its unprecedented commitment to the NHL as MSG Network and MSG Plus combine to telecast over 300 live Rangers, Devils, Islanders and Buffalo Sabres games during the 2011-2012 hockey season.
