Big news, bad news on Marc Staal?

Larry Brooks is reporting that Marc Staal developed post-concussion symptoms over the summer … from the hit he took from his brother in Carolina last February.

And that Marc Staal will be held out of the scrimmages and three North American preseason games as a precaution, even though he has been medically cleared for contact.

Maybe it’s nothing, but experience tells us that there is never certainty surrounding concussions and PCS.

John Tortorella is expected to address the attending media this afternoon, but Brooks and others are reporting that Staal will not speak.

I’m not overly concerned about the Prust issue, makes sense…staal however….

    thanks from last thread!

  3. Good afternoon, Carp!

It’s football time… boo-ring! The things I put myself through for the love of Buffalo.

  4. Spider, It’s because he was the only brother that didn’t get arrested at his bachelor party, excluding Jared who was still attached to his mom’s nip at that time. Clearly he’s holding a grudge.

I’d like to know Momma Stahl’s thoughts on this.

  5. Spider, he certainly aint hitting Jordan that hard. He chose his New York brother to lay the smack down on.

  6. you mean Stepan not a left wing yet?
Stepan is a better fit as the number 2 center than AA. AA may be there to start the season, but Stepan will be there to finish it.

  7. The fact that Mark Stawl is still having issues is very troubling. His brain is still scrambled from that massive hit by his brother, Erik Stall.

I enjoyed reading Jesse Spector’s tweet about Crusher!

I like that Wolski and MZA are looking good and better than last season according to reports. Barb Underhill should be promoted!

  8. Oh good grief! Good afternoon all! Just home from an amazing little bonehead fest in Philly with the Fozzy posse. Grand times for all and a fabu cheesesteak for me!!

  9. Upsetting news about Staal. As I said I was hoping the injury bug didn’t hang around from last year but it sounds like a handful of these guys are still not 100% yet. Just hate seeing the 800lb gorilla they call PCS in the room. Really isn’t a good situation for this young player or the team.

  10. Terrible news about Staal. Devastating loss if he is gone.

On another note, how has Spike Lee not sued Turkey Hill Ice Cream over their Yankees ice cream eating ad. That’s Mars Blackmon.

And what kind of name is that for an ice cream company?

Well. the raiders are looking good…sorry sally!!

  12. 60 minutes tonight has the story of the soldier that got the medal of honor in the last week. Special story.

  13. Oh, boy…Last year the team was very high ( top 10) on the list of man-games lost, so one would hope this year they do better. Let’s just hope it’s rely precautionary…Although the PCS could be nasty, as we all know. At the same time- no need to panic

  14. billybleedsblue on

Buck up, campers! It’s all just precautionary! (For the love of all that is good, I hope that’s true)

  15. “Paging Dr. Frankenstein!! We need a *fresh* brain – but don’t send Fritz to find one, though!”

  16. Evening all!

Disturbing news about Stawhlll. Glad to hear Wolski had a good day. Hoping it continues into the real season.

Yo, wicky, I finally signed up for the league.

  17. Wicky (Leeloo Dallas mul-ti-pass) on

    That would be awesome!!

    Thanks, you rock!!

Damn I jinxed my raiders earlier, congrats on the win

  18. I love south park so much, lol, I just watched “Over Logging” online. Hilarious. I can’t wait to see what moral/social commentary they have in store for us this season. let’s go rangers?

  19. October =

    1) Rangers hockey

    2) New Walking Dead season

    3) New Dexter season

    4) The comeback of Beavis & Butt-Head

    5) The continuation of South Park season 15

    Love it!!

There’s probably more, but I can’t remember anything else!

  20. Yeah, both in September. I *illegally* downloaded Fringe season 1, 2 and 3 Blu-Ray, but I have yet to watch it. I’m planning on doing it sometime soon. I know for sure I’ll like the show.

    Love Boardwalk Empire. Awesome show!

September has some good shyte coming back, aside from those two. One being Modern Family.

  21. ORR, yes, that’s the one. It’s so hilarious how everyone pronounces “In-Ter-Net” and finishing the “t’s” and all, lolz. Oh man, that episode gets a little dirty, actually, a lot dirty, but, it’s ridiculous that way to make a larger point(s).

I really love how they have almost every episode available online for free at all times (if you can stand a few short ads). God Bless America!

  22. Damn right! *I illegally* downloaded every season!

Unfortunately seasons 1-5 are not available in HD yet. But, that should be changing soon.

    I love the In-Ter-Net!

I was watching the episode “Crème Fraiche” a few weeks ago. Still makes me laugh! If you haven’t seen it, you should check it out. It’s the last episode of season 14.

  23. Creme Fraiche is very funny too. I can watch them all again and again. That’s the beauty of it! I’ve seen almost every episode.

  24. I’ll say this, I love the series, and it will always crack me up, but I +HATED+ the movie. I’ve seen it once, and I’ll never see it again. Absolute garbage. Maybe if they try again, it can get better, especially since they have so many more character that can hold their own, as opposed to the movie, which was just the four of them and Chef.

  25. The movie is its own thing, really… they (Matt and Trey) are obsessed with musicals apparently, and the 20-something minute structure of the TV episodes really doesn’t translate exactly into a feature-length film. That being said, I still like it, because, well, it IS funny, you have to admit… Saddam and Satan and all that? It’s got its moments…
Oh btw, I’m guessing that I’ve seen Casa Bonita more times than any other episode. When Cartman pretends to be attacked by a zombie and he breaks the stick and then “hides” Butters in the old fridge…HILARIOUS! And at the end, “Was it worth it kid?” “Totally.” HAHAhahaa

  26. New How I Met Your Mother tomorrow and new Boardwalk Empire next week? YES. House should be starting soon, too!

Someone tell Mama I made chili last night.. she’ll be jealous :)
