Why is everybody so impressed with Hagelin? I was expecting him to be dominating this tournament, but he is mostly invisible and is badly outplayed by a younger and slightly smaller Bourque.

Leetch, some players take time to develop. Bobby Ryan is one name that comes to mind. He was called a bust by a few GM’s, until he had his breakout year, and he keeps getting better.
Still too early to come to that conclusion.
DJK, the thing is, there’s no room for him. They don’t want to stick him on the 3rd on 4th line for those games. He’s going to have to, not only outplay the prospects, but outplay a few key guys on NYR, which he’s not doing.
Have to be patient with all of these guys. Absolutely no need to rush any of them. We have a pretty solid team right now.
After watching this game it is quite obvious that the only defenseman from this tournament that will play in the NHL is Erixon.

Orr, Sabres are underrated. They have a lot of depth and if they stay more healthy they will be a great team. They not only signed 2 very good UFAs, they also traded for Regehr. And they got several very good prospecsts ready for NHL.
Wilson looked like a big disappointment. Grant sucks. St.Croix, JAM, and Hagelin are in the Chad Wiseman mold.
Thomas is pretty good, but not sure he will find a lot of success in NHL.
McColgan, Miller and Bourque as well as Yogan looked really good.

I don’t get why you’re so quick to throw Hagelin, St Croix, etc in the garbage though. I mean, you’re basing that on a prospects tourney. It’s probably the first time you’re seeing these guys.
You can’t even get an idea of what these players will be like yet. That’s why I didn’t enjoy this tourney. I’d much rather watch these guys in camp, and pre-season.
On a sober note (rare for me): Good tournament, good last game – at least we saw, more or less, real price of our young goods. Emotionally, first what comes to my mind: nothing spectacular, sigh…and I’m not talking about the whole team (one can’t really judge this, few hours together, group of players). Individual sparks here and there, positively bigger number of above average, talented youngsters, but NONE of them are ready to surprise NHL, making a big team, IMO. I’m of course talking about Ranger’s prospects, which for me still remain … well, just prospects.
Actually, I agree with bob in evaluation. Too bad, that forwards we all liked, looks to me like a Habs Dwarf Offence Team.
I will agree that these forwards are the size of Brett Favre’s pecker.
Gotta love the bloodlines: Thomas, Bourque, and Erixon. They all had their moments in the tourney….
Bourque seemed to always be around the puck and in good position to make a defensive or offensive play…very good skater…fast…
Thomas has a very good shot and he’s pretty on his feet quick too.
Erixon looked like he was a man among boys and skating circles around most of these other kids. Not flashy, but just made it look so easy. Very smart player, from what I saw. Can’t wait to see more of him in pre-season. He is a bit lanky to play D in the NHL but so was Stahl when he started…We’ll see…
I liked Hagelin too.

I wish I had seen more grit and physical play from Hagelin for him to be a 3rd or 4th liner in NHL, but I am not sure he has enough, nor is he skilled enough to be 1st or 2nd line player on a good team. Which is why I rather capitalize on his value now and come away with a 2nd round pick for the future.

we pay 99 bucks for the whole year on xbox live and I actually like the fact that it filters out some (not all) but some of the idiots because of the paying. That includes 4 gold memberships for the year (we really only use two of the four).
