It’s Go Time!

The  championship game at the Traverse City tournament, tonight at 7 on MSG Network and (I think) NHL Network.

Rangers’ pups vs. Buffalo Baby Buffaloes.

Only hope that it doesn’t go beyond the 4-on-4 overtime and into those idiotic, cheap, gimmicky tiebreakers.

Hope to have a complete review of the event by a guest blogger who spent the week in Traverse City.

  1. billy, your last sentence was exemplary! You do know I was only teasing Mama, not trying to be grammatically correct? :)

  2. pups v. buffaloes

    From last thread:
LOL! When there are parens, the rules are….oh ack! I’m out for the night….late work, and now fading to black…..TA!

  3. Our players look like the real Rangers. None of them can hold onto a puck. Every puck is right off their sticks. Disgusting. I expect our Rangers to not succumb to that this season

  4. The refs are already cheating the Rangers. Getting their work in early this year. Practice does make perfect.

  5. A wicky…..nice ORR, but you may be pushing it with the second pic!

annndddd. Niters. Look forward to next guest review. LGBR!

  6. It is bad luck, Orr, as you said. We could have Wayne Gretzky on our team and he’d lose the puck off his stick repeatedly. Oh wait, we already did and that already happened!! LOL

  7. billybleedsblue on

Tiki, of course I knew you were playin’. So was I! I just thought it was funny. omg, I’m delirious with fever. When did Captain Callahan grow so big and change his name and number? Why is the ice so small?

btw, has anyone gotten through with the twitter thing? lol sanford and son!

  8. Czechthemout!!! on

Oh and I believe Lowell also said that Miller didn’t have good hands or a good shot. It would be nice if he would actually watch the games before he reviews them.

  9. Yes, I am wicky’ing for this. Finally get a piece of Traverse, for the final, and am appalled at the booth….blh blh blh blh blh….oh, Bourque scored, here’s why, though I dodn’t really know so I’ll go back to blh blh blh….

fran, now I really get your pain…I could seriously have a rant, but I won’t….Just feel this is all being handled wrong!!!

hmmm. OK.I’m done. Just please win puppy Rangeres, then high stick all the Johns and Joes!!!!

  10. sabres top player also played 19 games in the NHL last season. going head to head with JAY TEE! the puppiest of them all!

  11. Why is everybody so impressed with Hagelin? I was expecting him to be dominating this tournament, but he is mostly invisible and is badly outplayed by a younger and slightly smaller Bourque.

  12. Wicky(grating PIBG)© (The she/it on our D is sofa king SOFT!!!) on

the d tandem with neimi and noreau (I think) has a serious case of the yips!!

  13. Traverse means something to players/scouts/coaches obviously, but if you’re going to broadcast it…..and others said this before me, it’s not for the casual player …treat it hartnelling seriously and not as a tryout for your booth berth!

    ta :)

  14. too much passing when they have an opportunity to shoot.

Funny that it is Sabres we are playing against. I think Sabres and Rangers will be the top 2 teams in the East this season.

  15. Wicky(grating PIBG)© (The she/it on our D is sofa king SOFT!!!) on

I called it earlier for that pair…the yips!!

  16. Leetch, some players take time to develop. Bobby Ryan is one name that comes to mind. He was called a bust by a few GM’s, until he had his breakout year, and he keeps getting better.

Still too early to come to that conclusion.

DJK, the thing is, there’s no room for him. They don’t want to stick him on the 3rd on 4th line for those games. He’s going to have to, not only outplay the prospects, but outplay a few key guys on NYR, which he’s not doing.

Have to be patient with all of these guys. Absolutely no need to rush any of them. We have a pretty solid team right now.

  17. Czechthemout!!! on

After watching this game it is quite obvious that the only defenseman from this tournament that will play in the NHL is Erixon.

  18. Wicky(grating PIBG)© (The she/it on our D is sofa king SOFT!!!) on

    WOW Czech
that is a lot of d men from 8 NHL systems that are never going to make the NHL!!

  19. Wicky(grating PIBG)© (The she/it on our D is sofa king SOFT!!!) on

I’m not sure you dump WW for a young unproven in the NHL rookie forward unless that rookie is named wayne gretzky or mark messier!

EC on the other hand, you can dump him for a rookie forward named blog mama at any time!

  20. those 2 defensemen on carolina are gonna be NHL’ers, maybe both this year…”28 and 38″ as Gernander kept saying. Faulk and Murphy.

  21. Orr, Sabres are underrated. They have a lot of depth and if they stay more healthy they will be a great team. They not only signed 2 very good UFAs, they also traded for Regehr. And they got several very good prospecsts ready for NHL.

Wilson looked like a big disappointment. Grant sucks. St.Croix, JAM, and Hagelin are in the Chad Wiseman mold.

Thomas is pretty good, but not sure he will find a lot of success in NHL.

McColgan, Miller and Bourque as well as Yogan looked really good.

  22. Wicky(grating PIBG)© (The she/it on our D is sofa king SOFT!!!) on

yes, I think quite a few of the d men in the tourney are going to play in the NHL, Czech tends to be a bit dramatic at times!

    sorry, couldn’t help myself!

  23. I guess time will tell, Bob. I don’t see them beating out the Bruins for division lead. So, I see them sitting in 5th to 8th.

I don’t get why you’re so quick to throw Hagelin, St Croix, etc in the garbage though. I mean, you’re basing that on a prospects tourney. It’s probably the first time you’re seeing these guys.

You can’t even get an idea of what these players will be like yet. That’s why I didn’t enjoy this tourney. I’d much rather watch these guys in camp, and pre-season.

  24. On a sober note (rare for me): Good tournament, good last game – at least we saw, more or less, real price of our young goods. Emotionally, first what comes to my mind: nothing spectacular, sigh…and I’m not talking about the whole team (one can’t really judge this, few hours together, group of players). Individual sparks here and there, positively bigger number of above average, talented youngsters, but NONE of them are ready to surprise NHL, making a big team, IMO. I’m of course talking about Ranger’s prospects, which for me still remain … well, just prospects.

  25. Actually, I agree with bob in evaluation. Too bad, that forwards we all liked, looks to me like a Habs Dwarf Offence Team.

  26. Gotta love the bloodlines: Thomas, Bourque, and Erixon. They all had their moments in the tourney….

Bourque seemed to always be around the puck and in good position to make a defensive or offensive play…very good skater…fast…

Thomas has a very good shot and he’s pretty on his feet quick too.

Erixon looked like he was a man among boys and skating circles around most of these other kids. Not flashy, but just made it look so easy. Very smart player, from what I saw. Can’t wait to see more of him in pre-season. He is a bit lanky to play D in the NHL but so was Stahl when he started…We’ll see…

    I liked Hagelin too.

    Is it October yet?

  27. BTW, it was you who alluded to “the pink lagoon” earlier today, was it not, ORR? That’s a great expression – very appropriate! ;-P

  28. I’m not gonna let some yellowmouth’s game lost ruin my great expectations for the coming season being ruined.

  29. I wish I had seen more grit and physical play from Hagelin for him to be a 3rd or 4th liner in NHL, but I am not sure he has enough, nor is he skilled enough to be 1st or 2nd line player on a good team. Which is why I rather capitalize on his value now and come away with a 2nd round pick for the future.

  30. The Great Evaluator on

After watching this game it is quite obvious that the only defenseman from this tournament that will play in the NHL is Erixon.

YES! YES! YES! Because this was an “IMPORTANT” make or break career game for all of these 18-19 year old babies. It always comes down to ONE single game…we all know THAT!

  31. LOL! I actually chuckled when I typed that. I love my immature sense of humor!!

I’m still not over the pics. Although, I do like the ass pic. If it were closer, it would be better. But, the boob pic, forget aboot it. Waste!

But, like I told Manny, this Hacker guy usually releases pics, then waits for the celebs to respond, then hits them again. That better be the case.

And he better have good Kunis pics. What the hell? Kunis gets hacked, and the only pics are of Timberlake? Talk aboot a major buzz kill!!

So, tomorrow better be more Scarlett nudies, some Kunis nudies, and NHL12!!

  32. One player I am really looking forward to seeing in pre-season is Andreas Thuresson, he could maybe be a very good 4th line player in NHL.

The sooner we dump Christensen the better.

  33. Geez, Favre’s pecker is probably 10 inches with 4 inches of girth. His tennis balls are probably the size of tennis balls!!! Favre!!!!

Whats up 4ever?! Dont you dare to try to steal my Laurel from me!! ;)

  34. Hahaha! Well, I’m a lot older than you, ORR – but I’m still a teenager when it comes to some sexual hijinks! I love that phrase you mentioned – very expressive! ;-)

I’ll await your reviews of the new pics – I hope you get to see what you want! I’ve always thought that Scarlett’s lips (on her mouth!) are very well-suited for enjoyment..

  35. Tiki,
Despite of your threats (I’m flattered you feel threaten by me?), I would definitely try, she is very much worth it, but with all this heavy old, wet newspapers load and too sophisticated editorial background…task for much younger (than 26) generation. However, after 2nd thought, nothing turn me on in ladies more than smartness and besides, I love challenges, but in any way, I have to ask Her Majesty permission. So, can’t promised you, sir, nothing. Sorry. It’s like promise to have a Stanley Cup this season,- desire is all here, but ability…is another story. Comprendere ?

  36. She does have world class lips, along with chicks like Angelina Jolie. Carla Gugino, Rosie Huntington Whitley, among others.

Speaking of lips. I found out today that Irina Shayk may have had some work done on her lips. There were before and after pics. Extremely disappointing. I hate when chicks do that to their lips! Kind of grosses me out.

  37. Not saying that Shayk isn’t a babe anymore, but she definitely loses points! Grrrr!

CC, I’ll be getting it tomorrow. We’ll have to get in a few games, unranked! I don’t want to screw up my record early on!!

I had a pretty awesome shootout record in NHL10. I loved the online shootout. My custom spin-o-rama always got me out of a jam!

  38. So is everyone here cool with me giving McIlrath the nickname of big mac? Its gonna stick so get on board now!

  39. Of course Im threatened by you 4ever. You’re a well built, funny, sophisticated, really hot guy!!! Brad Pitt oughta feel threatened by you!

Jimbo, I dont believe it. Who would text a small pecker to someone?!?! Was it soft, maybe?!

  40. I’ve got no problem with Big Mac – I hope he develops into an NHL player!

ORR, I agree with you on the babes you’ve mentioned – the ones I’ve seen, anyway – never saw Shayk or Whitley, though.

Lip jobs are usually an abomination – make the gals look like they have duck-bills! Horrible.

  41. Err…ahhh…it wasn’t completely soft, but I don’t think it was “full” either… was NOT a flattering picture, in my humble opinion, so I don’t know why he sent it!

  42. Whitley is the chick from the new crappy Transformers movie. Total Brit babe! She’s a Victoria’s Secret Angel who’s, sadly, currently dating that guy who plays the same role in every single movie he’s in, Jason Statham.

Shayk was on the cover of this past years Sports Illustrated Swimsuit mag. Russian babe, who’s currently dating, even sadder, that Renoldo Soccer player, who looks very greasy.

I swear, if I didn’t know all of these things aboot babes, I’d know so much more aboot life. I’d be able to learn new languages, and cure diseases, possibly. But, I just can’t fit anything in this brain because it’s overflowed with babes!!

  43. ORR, don’t try to figure out women, and *especially* their choices in men – it’s just not possible, and you’ll just drive yourself crazy trying! ;-D

  44. Tiki, I’d bet that Google could help you to make your own decision.

Yes, I know, *I* should know better – shame, Jimbo!!!

  45. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, stop the clock!!!

You know, Sony is burning my %&%&$*&%* ass with this shyte! Those $&$^$& $ $&$&$&$&!!!! ROAR!

So, let me get this straight….I have to PAY to play ONLINE, despite the fact that most of the time, I’m playing against a guy with a pathetic connection that lags so bad, that it makes me want to drive my head through the PS3, and burn a tree down to the ground?

Are you kidding me??? The nerve!

  46. It’s $10 per sports game to play online, normally. It’s only 10 bucks, but it’s just another way for them to make money, even though people pay upwards of $50 a game. Gotta make the extra $10. Blech.

  47. The game is $65 bucks

One thing that makes me mad is that I’ve spent god knows how much money on building Hockey Ultimate Teams and played countless hours to earn “pucks” to be able to buy players and upgrades and now with this new game everything is gone! All they give you is one lousy pack with some no name players! At least give me back my “pucks”…total rip off! EA is mega rich but they still squeez everything out of you.

  48. Exactly, 3C. They rip people off, and they do it because they know that despite the economy, everyone needs the newest game to keep up to date. It’s criminal.

  49. If you buy the game, I think you get a free code for online subscription inside the game. But if you rent from Gamefly and do the “I never received it in the mail” thing, you’ve gotta pay the $10.

  50. Erixon on defense will challenge MDZ for a roster spot. He also can be Whale’d and Un-Whale’d without having to go through waivers. I think the same is true of Hagelin.

  51. Thanks, Tiki – and the same to you! But if Carp says we’re crossing the line, then we must be.

  52. Wicky(grating PIBG)© (The she/it on our D is sofa king SOFT!!!) on

wow, weird. Just opened the copy of NHL 12 I purchased and there is an online password inside the case…hmmm, no charge and 55 bucks for the game. Love xbox!

  53. Wicky(grating PIBG)© (The she/it on our D is sofa king SOFT!!!) on

ah my friend, don’t be fooled by the news of 10 years ago, this xbox is new, different, a more reliable and far superior system than that of old!!

  54. wicky

You don’t have to pay for online code if you buy the game. You know what else you don’t have to pay for? PS3 online access! How are your monthly xbox live bills doing,eh?

    I love PS3.

  55. At least it’s not monthly. $10 for online access, meh. Still, it pisses me off that all of a sudden they’re making us do this. It’s such BS! It would be different if you didn’t have to deal with the lagging, and the game quitting.

$10 now, $20 soon enough. It’s just like bus fare, it’ll just keep going up!

    PS3 is still better than X-Death-Box :P

  56. Wicky(grating PIBG)© (The she/it on our D is sofa king SOFT!!!) on

we pay 99 bucks for the whole year on xbox live and I actually like the fact that it filters out some (not all) but some of the idiots because of the paying. That includes 4 gold memberships for the year (we really only use two of the four).

But hey, the ps3 is blu ray (if you don’t have a player already), so I sort of see the appeal.

    Night assens!!
