Tweet away during Traverse City tournament

From the Rangers:

Fan Interaction to Play a Major Role in Television Coverage of Four Rangers Games Sept. 10-14 … Viewers to Have Unprecedented Access to the Rink and Locker Rooms
New York, NY – September 8, 2011 – MSG Network will offer Rangers fans an opportunity to take part – via Twitter –  in the telecasts of four Rangers games from the 2011 Traverse City NHL Prospects Tournament, which runs from September 10-14 in Traverse City, Michigan. Viewers will also have never-before-seen access to the team, coaches and executives during the five day competition.
Starting today, MSG Network’s Traverse City play-by-play man John Giannone (@jaygeeMSG) and reporter Dave Maloney (@DaveMaloneyMSG) will call on fans to join their conversation on Twitter by using the hashtag #NYRprospects. Giannone and Maloney, along with color commentator Joe Micheletti, will turn to Twitter for questions and remarks from viewers, which they can respond to and comment on during the action starting Saturday. The former Rangers captain will also use Twitter as the source of his questions as he talks to players benchside throughout the game, as well as for reports and interviews during intermissions.
MSG Network viewers will have unlimited access to the players, coaches and executives at the tournament. A number of players will wear wireless microphones during the games and cameras will follow the Rangers’ prospect team coach, Ken Gernander, into the locker room for pregame and intermission talks.
Viewers can also follow @MSGNetworks on Twitter or go to for additional information and tweets, including live updates from the tournament, as well as exclusive photos and interviews with players and coaches in their entirety. Extended video clips of Giannone, Micheletti and Maloney responding to fan-submitted questions will also be available.
The 2011 Traverse City NHL Prospects Tournament includes eight teams from the NHL, split into two divisions: the Gretzky Division (New York Rangers, St. Louis, Dallas, Carolina) and the Howe Division (Detroit, Buffalo, Columbus, Minnesota). Each team will face its division opponents once in the opening round and the final day will feature the top seeds in the Championship Game, as well as the remaining teams in the third, fifth and seventh place games, based on their records.
2011 marks the 14th year of the Traverse City NHL Prospects Tournament, which has previously featured current Rangers players, including Marc Staal, Dan Girardi, Ryan McDonagh, Michael Sauer, Artem Anisimov, Brandon Dubinsky, Ryan Callahan and Derek Stepan.

Below is the schedule for the Rangers telecasts:

Saturday, September 10 – NY Rangers vs. St. Louis (7:00 p.m.)
Sunday, September 11 – NY Rangers vs. Dallas (6:00 p.m.)
Tuesday, September 13 – NY Rangers vs. Carolina (3:30 p.m.)

  1. MSG moving with the times, eh? Twitter conversations with JG and Dave. Tweet to ask questions. Now thats an interactive sports experience for ya!

If i tweet @MSGconcessions will they deliver a hot dog & a beer too?

  2. Really looking forward to seeing the kids play. I think Tim Erixon and Carl Hagelin will both make the club and make significant contributions. Saw Hagelin play for Univ of Michigan and he is an elite type skater. Excellent two way player with good hands.

  3. Buenos Dias Cabezas Del Huesos!

Happy Friiiiiiiiday. Let’s get Crazy!!!! Just kidding. But seriously, let’s have some fun.

  5. morning all, sounds like Galimov will need a trachea transplant, and is still in a medically induced coma according to Dmitry Chesnokov. the other survivor is in a much “better” condition. 15% burns over his body and several fractures, including hip. but doesnt look life threatening.

  6. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

Solidarity ohhhhhhhh oh solidarity…… What we need, what we need is solidarity …. Solidarity…..
I just love black uhuru with sly and Robbie…solidarity….

  7. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

Everyone wants to be forgiven…….solidarity…..look at me, I ain’t your enemy, we walk on common grounds…..solidarity…..

  8. Hey everyone…I know this is not the right forum, but I don’t subscribe to any other web pages or do I have anyone to bounce this off of. Carp I’m not sure if your going to be there, but my question is “how do we hold this ceremony on Sunday when we don’t know where these 3 thugs are, or even worse are there more of them???” It’s just a scary thought that there are some members of the douchbag club who want to bomb us and kill inicent Americans. I know the thought process is don’t let them stop us from leading a normal life. But one thing is for sure 9/11 was never normal, and this anniversary is shaping up to not be very normal either. Carp are you going to be at the ceremony?

  9. No, Cynar. I’m planning on being far, far away from there. Not because of the threat, but because I don’t want to have to write about these sports teams that I think are overdoing their involvement with the anniversary … and I’ll stop right there before I make any accusations.

  10. You know something I read that Derek Jeter said really strikes a chord. He said that although it made people feel better when the Yankee players went to see them, he personally felt very uncomfortable. I’m in total agreeance that although it was great for sports players to help ease the pain the country was suffering, we “now” are putting waaaayyyy to much emphasis on how they helped. Of course this is going to lead to some reporting agency like ESPN to ultimately embarrass themselves or even our country by putting 9/11 and sports together, and really they are the very far apart. What helped this country was just the fact that these players are everyday people and they were suffering just like us. Thats it people leave it at that.

  11. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

Look at me, l ain’t your enemy, we walk on common grounds, Solidarity ohhhhhhhhhhhh oh solidarity….

  12. Right now they have reliable information coming from Pakistan. One of the problems is that apparently used very common names which allowed them to move around easily.

  13. billybleedsblue on

IMHO, The best thing the sports guys can do for America is to just play their respective games and stay out of ‘politics.’ If they just do what they are paid to do (keep us entertained and provide some form of escapism), that might help Americans to feel that things are ‘normal’ (or closer to it).
Obviously, charity work is wonderful, but past that, these sports guys really should keep their mouths shut and just do their jobs. Emphasis on the shutting of the mouth(s), and I too will “stop right there before I make any accusations.”

  14. It’s just if it’s that reliable why go ahead and gather large groups of people?? It’s a very difficult question. Do we let them win, by doing this? Another question is if we were to cancel things where would they turn there attention? The Jets game on 9/11?? I don’t know, but the Government is gotta be going nuts trying to find these guys.

  15. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

Yo – al quida dudes….we don’t need to fight one another…everyone want to watch the game on Saturday, Everyone wants to have a friend, everyone want to work for a living, everyone want to keep their children warm….solidarity

Moreover, al quida assens …. Go byfuglien yourselves…Solidarity

  16. I am being realistic. Again I know it’s not the right forum, but being that Carp may have been invited to the ceremony, I just wanted to raise the question, and see what people think. I’m not saying we should be afraid, or we SHOULD cancel anything, but being that their is an actual threat, probably the first real threat since 9/11 that we know there will be large groups of people in alot of areas due to the anniversary.

  17. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

Send THE PRUST to find these 3 assens….. One glare and all 3 will spontaneously combust.

  18. Ok, Cynar. I wasn’t actually attacking you. Just saying that realistically the chances of a terrorist attack are incredibly low. Even lower is the chance that you might actually be involved or victimized by it. I am just personally refusing to give into the fear. Fear leads to anger which leads to Hate. The Jedi (Yoda) taught me that. Fear is the dark side. I don’t want to hate anyone so I will not fear anyone.

  19. ORR we’ve already gone down the brother route – Marcel Hossa, Fedor Fedorov – without much success.

  20. Adam, I meant a brother of a player we already have.

Does MZA have any siblings? I wonder how big an MZA baby is when it’s born. In fact, I’m thinking, maybe, MZA is like Benjamin Button, and reverses in age. It would actually explain a lot.

    No women’s tennis today! Blah!

  21. Manny, don’t worry, Sam and Joe will remind you of that eight different days, or more. I can’t say how many times they’ll mention it during those eight days.

On four of them, it will be mixed in with something aboot a figure skater.

  22. The Staul’s are just like the Mannings. Except the third Stahl is also a professional athlete and is not in a wheelchair.

  23. CCCP the was friggin hiliarious!! Those old guys must have been like man I hope my wife doesn’t watch this show!! LOL

  24. Manny I didn’t take it personally. I was just pointing out something that I thought a lot of people are thinking but not actually saying. I would do nothing to change my routine, but if your in NYC on Sept. 11th it is a thought that would personally bother me. The bridges, tunnels, everything that stands for NY is a target. Their was an article in the Daily News today about a Muslim family that has denounced the Muslim religion 1. cause they lost a son on 9/11 2. in the aftermath they were discriminated against and they too just want the American dream.

  25. It’s REALLY good. I promise, ORR. There could be more stuff in it but the waffle cones are a brilliant addition. They stay crunchy somehow.

  26. Manny understand that I was a Police Officer, and when NYC was asking for help towns from all over Morris County…..thats like a half hour away…..we all gathered Officers and sent them to NY. I in no way feel we should be intimidated but these guys are just trying so damn hard to show us they can do it. I believe they no longer want to do it to cry about America and it’s stance in the Mid-East, but they want to do it just to show they can get us no matter what we do. Over 80% of Americans believe we will be attacked again, and over 80% believe we will live with terrorism, and never really be able to stop it.

  27. This is not the place to really talk about it, so sorry this fodder is so serious. I just thought it would be interesting to get peoples take on going to NYC for the anniversary. Sorry I’m being serious it is a touchy subject to a lot of people even thou it’s been 10 years.

  28. I’ll shut up, maybe go play some NHL 11, it’s just boring being home with no kids to yell at. LOL

  29. Wicky(grating PIBG)© (The she/it on our D is sofa king SOFT!!!) on

Has anyone heard form nasty or TR lately?

  30. It’s a good conversation, Cynar. Don’t apologize!

My position is just, well….we have to deal with it and focusing on fear isn’t healthy for anybody. I have spent enough time in Israel taking public transportation and visiting the West Bank (living on the border of it) that I just think you have to enjoy what you can and accept the inevitable. I am not saying we ARE going to die in a terrorist attack but I am saying that if it happens, I don’t want to be living scared when it does. I want to be enjoying myself to the fullest. I am very happy that I was allowed the chance to live on this planet and with these people (all of you) and I am going to cherish that and not let some miniscule chance bother me.

    Also, alcohol helps. :)

  31. I do not like Andy Murray because of his shenanigans, e.g. jumping up on the walls and shaking his fists after every point. He also looks just like Mr. Montgomery Burns.

  32. One thing that is amazing about this blog, is that Carp has people from all over the “World” reading and writing on this blog!! That just shows the reach of what Carp writes. Cheers to you Carp it’s a great blog.

  33. Oh god….just got it on my computer here. Isner looks dead. You’re right, it’s over. Already down a break? Where is his energy?

  34. Isner is just not going to learn that Murray is really good at hitting baseline winners when you try to come to the net and cut down his angle. He thrives on it.

  35. I haven’t seen any girls in the audience there that could really rile him up….maybe Nadal’s sister is free?

  36. She’s there!? Gooooo Meesh!

I swear I thought Nadal’s sister was his girlfriend for the longest time just because of her exceptional looks.

  37. Well, from his knees and down, it’s bronze, and from the thigh and up, it’s white as a spring cloud. I do see some nice shades of white and red in his face though. Strawberries and cream.

    Cream fraiche! Ohh, fugg yeah!

  38. Doodie Machetto on

Getting a new jersey. Who should I get. I want Prust, but don’t know how much staying power he has with the team.

  39. I had the same thoughts Doodie. You can’t go wrong with a Brad Richards Jersey! Rupper has been pretty funny on this 140 characters or less thing (Twitter?). Callahan with a big C would be sweet too…wink wink

  40. Wicky(grating PIBG)© (The she/it on our D is sofa king SOFT!!!) on

I’ve never seen nadal’s sister, good I’m guessing?

    where is beer me??

stop it, you are tearing me up!

  41. Wicky(grating PIBG)© (The she/it on our D is sofa king SOFT!!!) on

rupp would be a good call. I think Prust in invaluable (just my opinion) and I think he gets resigned for about 3 years after this season. I already have a prust jersey, may go retro graves or ulfie on my next one!

  42. Do you have a Callahan jersey already? Really can’t go wrong with that one. Anyone ever buy the red jersey? I have one with no number or name, thought it might become a third jersey before they even talked about third jerseys.

  43. Doodie Machetto on

Orr, do you really find those women attractive? His sister looks like a skinny man with long hair.

  44. LOL, CC!

You know, Doodie, when I saw the picture, my first thought was “hmm, thought she was hotter”

She’s not on my “list”, but I think she’s cute. She’s no Candice Swanepoel, let me tell you!!

Cynar, that’s a bad idea. Because then Doodie will have to choose between Staal, Stahl, Stawl, Stall, etc, and it will become one big headache.

  45. I for one do not think ilb should be named captain. he we are about to have our prospects play in a tournament, and he leaves. what kind of captain is that! I think wicky should be named captain (for obvious reasons), and CCCP should be one of the alternates. I also think having a younger alternate captain is important, so I think ORR should be the second alternate.

  46. Pop some rhinestones on it, and you’re officially fabulous!

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA Comment of the offseason achieved!!!!

  47. It is fashion week. I work on Bryant Park and just went to get a “fabulous” coffee and man oh man…saw like three models getting their photographs taken – i guess it’s called a “photo shoot” or something. Pretty awesome.

  48. Ok, so three As….

I, for one, want this week/weekend to be over. Goodbye Fashion Week and 9/11…oh, the oxymoronicness of it all.

Alessandra Stanley from the Times put it perfectly for me, though many will disagree I’m sure.:
“Nobody who remembers Sept. 11 wants to relive it. ”

I’m not dissing anyone, I just don’t want to relive it.

  49. bull dog line

wow… you just blew my mind with “CCCP for ‘assistant’ captain” line. Didn’t know you had such a high opinion of me. Not high enough to consider me a captain, though… but high nonetheless

  50. Manny, nice. I’ve known her since her soap opera days….she played twins. Good/evil of course.

  51. sorry Manny, I didn’t mean “know,” just meant know of…..aren’t you getting married soon?

C3, sorry, but that was a total gimme :)

  52. I am getting married. It’s just funny because my fiance-elect and I were discussing “passes” – like if you got to sleep with one person – and I actually said Julianne Moore. She thought I was crazy.

  53. Julianne Moore is classy hot. Even though she probably is not viewed the same way as a Moore, I like Julianna Margulies, The Good Wife. She’s a mature, classy hot.

  54. Manny, t’aint no such such thing.

Tiki, I figured out the grammar in that post and take back my WTB….

  55. Julianna Marguiles is a good one. Her stint on Sopranos makes her cool in my book!

I agree that there t’aint no such thing. It’s just chit chat.

  56. My fiance says that her pass is Christian Bale. I think that she might also pick: Reggie Bush, Andre from Outkast and/or Ryan Gosling.

  57. Just heard about those three jackwagons that are running around and trying to hurt people in NY and DC. I hope it’s just a little nothing, or I hope they catch them. Either way, not trying to sound brave, and I’m not naive, but the more we let them know we are scared, the more likely they will be doing things their way. I wouldnt change my life.

  58. Man, I missed out on a lot today.

    Go Federer!

Can we vote for DK, VinceA, et al? If not, my vote goes to ilb for captain! I think that Sally should get an A, because although she isn’t a vocal leader, her presence means a lot to the blog. My third vote goes to Tony/Fran, as they are wiser boneheads.

  59. Amen, Latona. GO FedEx!!!

ORR you have a thing for large melon like wagon breasts. I understand that. I have kind of grown out of that because as a woman gets older that is the first thing to begin to fall apart. Now I just like the whole package but for me, it’s the whole intangibles that women has that attracts me.

  60. Have any of you ever seen movie “Irreversible” with Monica Bellucci? If not, then you must see it! She is so HOT in that movie! And… there is a sick Bellucci rape scene in that movie! Don’t miss it! lol

  61. Same here, Manny. It’s the whole package plus the intangibles that is attractive.

Amen, Manny and Latona. Go FED! At least Id like to see a Fed/Nadal final again.

  62. CCCP,
with all the europeans here, I thought you would be a good representation for them.
I never had a low opinion of you, just enjoy sparring with you every once in a while.

  63. Manny, I can go either way. Big gonzagas, little gonzagas, meh, as long as there’s powerful niplets involved, I’m good to go!

I think I’ve seen that movie a few years ago, CC. I don’t know what it was aboot, since I had it on mute.

  64. Manny, it’s 11 pm here, remember ? Mrs is jet legged and sound asleep. So I’m on the blog. I can get all the news just going through your posts. And some, lol

  65. Manny, speaking off sagging, my first girlfriends grandma’s boobs were down to her waist. I didn’t want to look, but I just couldn’t stop. I’d stare at them while fighting off gags.

I wonder what they looked like. I’d imagine they’re like fleshy accordions.

  66. Tiebreak!? Yay! I was watching but he was blowing it…..every single time I watch Isner starts losing. I turned it off.

Mama – I told you that we should clean it up and then YOU said “oh please.” I warned you. We are all a little juvenile today.

  67. can we talk line combos for Traverse city? why is McNaught playing with Miller? not skilled enough to keep up.

  68. The flight was 10 hours, Tiki. By the way, for world travelers on the blog, I’d strongly recommend Xcomglobal Mi-Fi. We landed in Ben Gurion, turned it on and have Wi-Fi on our iPhones and the iPad. Secure, of course. I drove to Tel-Aviv and mrs was reading turn-by-turn directions using the iPad right to our hotel. We unpacked, went for a walk and found the restaurant using Zagat’s on line service.

  69. well, there’s language, and then there’s language :)

And isn’t that an odd word when you look at it…language. Huh. Prust saying…..

    Good grief, I gotta go…..later?!

  70. Line combos =
    McBust – Millfail – O’verrated
    Dublowsky Jr – EC’s clone – Butt Chin’s Twin

Where did you eat, Ilb? Spaghettim!? Where are you in Tel Aviv? DETAILS

  72. Anyone hear about the Mets PR guy? He broke his ankle walking to work. The Mess even have to put their PR guy on the DL! LOL

  73. Wicky(grating PIBG)© (The she/it on our D is sofa king SOFT!!!) on

    Bull dog
well, umm thanks, but I definitely think ILB should have the “C”. Orr and cccp are great options for an “A” though.

I have always had a thing for milla jovovich. I also like magdalena neuner quite a lot.

  74. We are in Tel Aviv only for two nights, Manny. Staying near the beach in Hayarkon area. Restaurant called Adora on Ben Yehuda street. Would you like me to tell you what wehad for dinner? Wait, it’s Latona’s department :-)

  75. Milla Jovovich is unreal. Those eyes. They are really something.

I love Tel Aviv, ilb. That place is amazing. The American Apparel there, their employees didn’t even speak hebrew. English only. What an amazing little city!

  76. It must have went “Down Under,” Manny. LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL. This was after British and American bands said to the Men at Work “go away, don’t come ’round here no more.” I r teh funny.

Btw, Emmanuel, remember how many moons ago I mentioned being handed The Bluest Eye, and you warned me about Toni Morrison’s works? Well, I’ve read both TBE and Song of Solomon since then, and they are the absolute two worst books I’ve ever read in my entire life.

  77. ilb,

I’d love to know what you had for dinner! If it’s good enough to qualify for a regular point, you’ll get international points, ilb points, and possibly even captain points with the way the blog went today!

  78. Wicky(grating PIBG)© (The she/it on our D is sofa king SOFT!!!) on

    bull dog
    you never cease to amaze!!

    vinceA is a certifiable TURD!!!

  79. What’s with the captain thing today? Thanks for your trust and it’s flattering and all, but I don’t think we need a captain. That’s one of the best things about this place- we are all equal. We do have a designated goon, though….But that’s out of necessity. He can also clear the crease, so he is a keeper :-)

  80. Wicky(grating PIBG)© (The she/it on our D is sofa king SOFT!!!) on

happy to be of service for all of the quality human beings here!!

  81. Latona – I am actually listening to “Overkill” right now. Maybe that is what happened…the market was saturated? The version that Colin Hay does Acoustic is Awesome! I feel old…

  82. This day was really fun….remember what I said this morning? I do!

  83. Very impressive use of Men at Work songs, Latona. I didn’t give you full credit before. You deserve it.

  84. Did you notice my Toni Morrison bit also directed at you?

Guess you don’t care about me or my life, Manny. I thought what we had was real.

how appropriate! May 9 is VinceA day and my birthday! Let’s celebrate VinceA Day on Europansies Captain’s birthday! ;)

  95. Wicky(grating PIBG)© (The she/it on our D is sofa king SOFT!!!) on

ok, off to get some dog food and to hastings with one of the wicksters…

    later assens!

  96. Boom Boom Bathgate - FOUR CUPS since 1926 on

I wonder if we had bombed the holy crap out of them, right after they pulled their Apocalyptic stunt in 2001, if we would be facing more threats now, at all? And it looks like fudging up to them and throwing Israel in the crapper really ain’t workin’ as a “foreign policy.”

I am so happy I moved back to New York State, from Communist Oregon, where streams of Letters to the Editor in Ashland (a.k.a. “Little Berkeley”) where I lived were expressing the sentiment that those who died in the 9/11 attacks “got what they deserved.” And this from people who were born in this country. These cretins had no feelings of emotion to express in the aftermath of 9/11, other than being distressed when the Oakland, CA fire department put American Flag decals on their trucks. I took the day off from work (Farmer’s Insurance) and was the ONLY ONE to miss work that day, and the next day they wanted to know where I was the day before (while Americans in droves were dying!)

You know something, we are under siege at all times, even if the next two-three days are relatively quiet. All of our enemies do not reside overseas.

  97. LMAO @ May 9 Europe day!! where did you find this, LW? I never knew of it!

i didn’t like that movie… maybe you will.

  98. May, 9 is a Victory Day, CCCP, if you forget, and it is sacred. Zanyato! Besides it’s my brother’s B.-Day (he was born before WW2), but still 26 (qualified as a Rangers fan).

  99. Wicky(grating PIBG)© (The she/it on our D is sofa king SOFT!!!) on

thanks, I’ll probably check it out although I am inclined to think it is going to be similar to sucker punch and a major disappointment to me!

  100. 4everanger

of course i remember! no one can take Victory Day away! Just for the fun of it we should celebrate VinceA Day within our Europansy Rangers Report Blog ;)

  101. billybleedsblue on

lol LW, what else do you have bookmarked? Also, right on time with the “A” comment @ Manny, lol but you already know that :D

On another note, I kinda think it would be funny if the Jets and Cowboys tied on Sunday but I’m not sure yet…

  102. Lost in controversial conclussion…
Tennis is a game for pansies and other flowers. (except ilb.). I wish we recruit US tennis team only from illegal immigrants from Comoro Islands.
Discussion about blog’s captaincy should be decided by coach (*Carp*orella) after *shout outs* between most frequent and most thoughtful posters. Loudest and dirtiest will meet in consolatory match and fight till self elimination.
…and btw, no MOOREs on the world could compete with my beloved wife; either they are named Julianne, Demi, Thomas, James, Benjamin or Michael. Last 3 in particular.

  103. Check out Brad Richards, hanging out with some actors

This guy’s gonna have a horrible season! I’m telling you!

Seriously, I can’t tell if he’ll have a good season or a bad season. I just don’t know how to look at this team just yet. I know they’ll make the playoffs, I’m not expecting them to get to the Cup final, but I don’t know, I just don’t know what to expect with these guys.

I’m excited, to say the least.

  104. Anybody see this??

CBS’s web series — “What’s Trending” — tweeted an item which said, “Reports say that Steve Jobs has passed away. Stay tuned for more updates.”

But almost immediately, they yanked the item and tweeted an apology of sorts: “Reports of Steve Job’s death completely unconfirmed.”
