Live from Yankee Stadium

Well, at least they’re playing Toronto, so it’s kind of like a hockey game, two anthems (I presume), etc.

Got nada. Figured it was time for a new thread for youse. See ya during the ballgame.

Wow, enjoy the day Carp, it should be a nice one. Maybe a little humid with a T-shower later on, but sunny and nice. I myself am off to a cookout in a little while where I was told there would be 1. Girls, 2. Beer, and 3. Clams. If I get 2 of 3, I guess I will be pleased. That’s like batting .667! I’m hoping for a much higher OBP though.

    Morning ILB and all!!

Off to the grocery store before work, so HI and BYE!!

    Later assens!!

  3. Carp, do you want me to come and take the flyers off your windshield while you’re in the stadium?

  4. This is what a fouled baseball does to painted sheetrock.

The Star-Ledger Yankees writer twit-pic’d this — a Curtis Granderson foul ball into the pressbox that scattered some of the writers not far from me.

Reminded me of when Reijo Ruotsalainen, Pierre Larouche and Barry Beck would rocket them into the lower pressbox (before the high glass and nets went up). Beck would actually stand at the point for the next faceoff still laughing.

  5. Ugh!? I will take your duties when it comes to Baseball, Carp. That will give you more time to focus on lawncare.

Victoria Azarenka is playing a man, Serena Williams, in the 3rd rd. of the women’s us open….. How is that possible?

  7. Evening all.

I got nothing besides it being 100 the past few days down here, which is just wrong. And 80 tons of laundry that I have no desire to do.

    This summer has been endless.

  8. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

Mickey – given those temps, you should not be wearing clothes…. Keeps you cooler and less laundry…..

If Callahan is somehow not named Captain, best bet is that he STILL will come out with a good attitude. Cally is amazing, and is in it for team success, not personal glory – like about 98.7 of the rest of professional athletes, today.

And if Cally sees that someone else who is appointed is in default, like the former Captain of this team, Cally will lead by example. He doesn’t need a “C” on his jersey to be captain of this team. So, one way or another, Cally will again represent the best on-ice leadership that this team has. I like Staal, as a hockey player and I think as a person (never met him), but he lacks the fire-in-the-belly for the job. Besides, I think it would hurt his game, a lot. Cally can can handle it – he already has.

  10. First in the morning?!
Then…Good morning sleepy Rangerlanders! Sun is up and only week to first glimps on our future…

  11. I love Labor day, the rare day you almost for sure not going to work…(except for women giving birth this day, but it is not unionized).

  12. Shhhh…you’ll scare the fish away, 4ever. Some nice bass this morning.

Good morning, ‘heads! Where is everyone?
My wife’s family is spending this weekend with us. Every time they come to visit us I realize my Spanish isn’t as good as I thought…

  13. Well that was an interesting write up, and we now know everything except the numbers on the jersey’s of the Rangers kids ( except McIlrath (73) and him only due to the photo. It would really be good to not have to wait for the play by play guys to detail the numbers ( when
and if they get around to it in between “color’ comments).

  14. >>Common guys and gals, wake up and say something nice to each other!

I have nothing nice to say to anybody; so I say nothing.

  15. Hey Carp, time for a new poll question August is over which is bittersweet for me.

    Hope everyone is doing well.

  16. Am at my cousins house in north philthy. Just went over the flyers roster with him. His conclusion…. They need Tom renney style defensive system and brysgalov to win a bunhc of 2-1 games. How many goals for nave this year? Twelve? He said rangers make the third round or it’s a failure of a season. Thats a flyers fan take. Do we agree?

Nah, Wick. Unless the fantasy involves Victoria’s Secret supermodels playing hockey. I’d gladly let them do to me what Parros did to Orr. Just don’t get off me so quickly!!

  19. Wicky(grating PIBG)© (The she/it on our D is sofa king SOFT!!!) on

LOL I meant to capitalize FANTASY when I asked

  20. “Nah, Wick. Unless the fantasy involves Victoria’s Secret supermodels playing hockey. I’d gladly let them do to me what Parros did to Orr. Just don’t get off me so quickly!!”

I must have missed something – did Parros hump Orr during a game last season!? ;-P

  21. Wicky, this is for you. :) I knew these guys…don’t know what happened to to them…but this song is for you, and me, I guess: Now you know why bag lady always meant something to me:)
    Cool dance song fyi, :)

  22. eh, dddeb, no offense, but I’ve Bueller’d a ton. Much cooler to bag lady :)

  23. I know it’s a character from an old movie, but what the heck is a “Bueller” with respect to this blog!?

  24. FWIW I just heard Freddy never got his teeth fixed because he thought it might effect his voice.

K Man band mmmhh, what do you think bag lady?

  25. Jimbo, when someone says Bueller, as, Um, I often do….it means, where is everyone? It’s a call out of to an empty space that should be filled. Hence: ttp://

  26. Oh, I see…..something like that must have happened in the movie, then? I never watched it….

  27. Jimbo, you have never watched that flick!!! I may have to call a morartorium on us until you do! ACK!

  28. No, I never did – as I recall, I didn’t care for the lead actor, whose name now totally escapes me…it just seemed not to interest me!

So, am I banned now? Must I go to a re-education camp? ;-D

  29. I think I was already too old to appreciate it – that might be it. I always liked more “intense” kind of flicks, like Goodfellas, Casino, The Godfathers….more violence, and lessteenage stuff…

  30. Ugh…you all will probably see the Straw Dogs remake…I shall pass. Bet Ferris Bueller’s Day Off…that I’ll see 200 times…..

  31. They’re doing a remake of Straw Dogs!? Now, I saw that one – Judy Geeson – yum! I wonder who the wife is played by in the new version?

No problem, ddeb – you kinda nailed it!

  32. No Jimbo, it was Susan George in the original, by Sam Peckinpah…..Kate Bosworth in the remake. PASS!

  33. Wicky(grating PIBG)© (The she/it on our D is sofa king SOFT!!!) on

    Mama, DDE, and Jimbo

    You guys rock!!

    reply sent

  34. Well, they were both hot-looking British blondes – easy to get them confused with each other – but you are definitely right, Mama! ;-)

  35. Wicky(grating PIBG)© (The she/it on our D is sofa king SOFT!!!) on

you doing any fantasy hockey this year?

  36. I absolutely agree with you about that movie, ddeb! And I’m so old, that I saw that movie (first run, not a a retrospective) in a local theater with a teenage girlfriend, and I was just a year older than she was. (and I wished that it was Judy Geeson sitting next to me, I must admit..)

  37. I don’t know why, but I decided to watch a clip of a woman giving birth, on youtube. It’s the first time I’ve ever seen that.

That’s all there is to it. I’m glad I’m done eating for the night.

  38. It is strange to find that so many of you all are movie fans, but apparently none has seen the Movie ”
The Comrades of Summer” lead actor Joe Montegna.

It was a really good film. I who seldom see films and know nothing of current day actors, blundered into this one, and I now have the tape of it. I lent it out to my kids.
