ilb,
hope you got power back, but regardless, I want you to know, that you, Mrs. and your two adorable little creatures always have an open invitation, not only for taking a shower in my place at any time, but also a permit of using all amenities (except my toothbrush) permanently. So, don’t wait for a next hurricane (Katya?), use it now.
CCCP,
would like to extend this to you too, but with stipulations – you bring vodka + beer of your choice in ratio 1: 5, for first ten games of the season, and I ‘ll take care of big(50”)flat TV, pickles, marinated mushrooms, rough bread on newspapers and kvas in the morning.
ilb2001
Thanks, 4ever…I’ll bring my own toothbrush then….Did you say pickles? Mmmmm…..
Puck Daddy wrote about Reebok’s new Black Ice jerseys. They are pretty bad, but look ok for teams that have picture logos rather than text. The Rangers jersey, therefore, looks horrible. Don’t buy!
Every team has jerseys coming out that look like that. Only black and one other color (along with some grays).

hey all been a few days since i posted. at about 4am sunday morning irene decided to knock out my power. when you have a 6 month old son at home thats the hard part. fortunately my dad whos 5 miles away has power. we have essentially moved in there as i was told there wont be power back at my home in long island until friday at the earliest.
taking a 6 month old out of there routine at home is the hardest part. he sleeps through the night but last night at my dads he was up every hour. today i am like a zombie.
please power come back soon i want to go home.
4generations 4 cups
eric i feel for you, lets hope the power comes back on and the little one can pass out so YOU CAN TOO!
ilb2001
Geez, sorry Eric…And I’m complaining about hot shower….Shame on you. ilb…
Latona
Hope everything gets back to normal, eric.
Glad to have you back, Carp.
ilb, a hot shower is a big deal! No shame to be had.
Geez. I leave Montauk for Upstate thinking I would dodge the carnage. Upstate is a frikin disaster!!! Throughway was closed so I couldn’t get back until it re-opened (which must have been last nite). I pull into Montauk, and it looks like nothing happened!!! No lost power. A few branches down. A few shingles off of my 40 year old wall. This could be the one occasion when an evacuation was more dangerous than a “riding it out”!!!
ILB
We just turned the shower on for you, so come on over!!
Eric
good luck bro!!
Manny
Glad to see Carp back! Glad to see the DNFTT is gone.
Woo hoo!!
Blogmama
Wasted hartnelling carcillo of a gorgeous day not getting e-mails or calls back from people I need to talk to for a work project. Come on! I got a deadline!
OK, just had to get that out. At least I have power….good luck eric, ilb and all.

Welcome back, Carp! You didn’t mention any property damage, which sounds good – yeah, the areas north of NYC really got whacked, even though the eye of the storm went right over us.
I don’t understand it, but in my case, I’m thankful not to have had any damage or outages in utilities.
Blogmama
or should have gone. I’m having such a carcillo day!

Sorry, Mama…. :-(

Sorry, Mama. :-(
JimboWoodside
Huh!? My post went through twice? How did that happen?
Well, I’m doubly sorry, Mama!

I must confess I feel guilty, actually guilty that I had no unfortunate problems to deal with. It just waved at us here on the Space Coast, and then after a few thunder clouds, bright sun and no problems at all. But my kids up in CT weren’t all that lucky. I may have told you in the past that my eldest daughter is an executive with the United Utilities, and she was told to get to her office and bring sleeping gear for she was to man the emergency phones, for the evening. She said that she bundled up her stuff and brought a sleeping bag and kept it under her desk and spent the 6PM thru overnight, there for fielding calls.
she said that she was eating out of coin machines and a teapot ( she never drinks coffee). Then when day light appeared that morning she was on deck for a full day duty in her normal job. I told her that she was spoiled rotten. She laughed and agreed…she’s a good kid. ( Kid. She’s got three grand daughters in or just graduated from college.)
How many of you folks saw the one TV shot of a large
area under water near a bridge that had a sign posted….NO HOCKEY….............hmmmm?
It’s gratifying to learn that all the bonesters are safe and reasonably sound ( or as sound as they ever get),
and Carp made it successfully from wherever he was trapped.
JimboWoodside
Whoa – Fran – your daughter has three grandchildren who just graduated from college!? I find that hard to believe if you’re 26, like the rest of us!
That makes it sound more like you’re a contemporary of Lester Patrick, who suited up to play in goal from behind the bench to win a very early playoff game for our beloved Rangers!
How did they play hockey in candlelight!? ;-D
Blogmama
Thanks Jimbo! And ha to your response to fran. Watch, tomorrow I’ll go out and everyone will call back….I bet my 2 lunch points on it.
Blogmama
Belated LOL to fran’s “sound” comment….
JimboWoodside
You have no reason to feel guilty, Fran – Florida has certainly paid its “storm dues” over the years. We’re just not used to stuff like this up in this part of the country!
JimboWoodside
Yes, Mama – everyone will call you back, just as soon as you leave your post – heck, I’ll even call you, if you give me your number! ;)
Blogmama
LOL! I thought of “pretending” to leave the house to see if that would work, but I’m just doomed today. I’m guessing it’s because people are out of power where I’m trying to reach, but hey, someone can answer a cell phone!!
By the way fran, since you seem to love history so much, you should read this amazing book. It blew me away and I read it straight through yesterday, couldn’t put it down. “Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption” by Laura Hillenbrand. Just brilliant and I recommend it to everyone. If this story weren’t true, you’d laugh at the audacity of the author, but it’s all real.

I will read it indeed. Just finished an amazing book on Genghis Kahn and his offspring , and how they came close to over running the entire known world. The Silver empire.( or maybe it was the Empire of Silver)
And I still recommend the book titled, And the Walls Came Tumbling down. True account of a little known event that was crucial to the landings on Normandy in 1944. Title of the first chapter was ” The Man who sold People”
fran
And on the lighter side, I noted with some satisfaction that the Mets FINALLY gave Dickey a few runs to work with.
Blogmama
Thanks fran, I’ll check those out. But to be honest, after reading two back-to-back books about WWII (“Unbroken” non-fiction and one fiction, “The Invisible Bridge,” also highly recommended) I need a break from how hartnelled up the world was, and still is…..
I noticed that the defending the core tool used my name yesterday to post. How weird and aggravating since I rarely post at all, and when I do it’s not about football like his post was.
What an idiot.
Oh well, I’m glad to see that carp is back and everyone down there fared well last weekend. Irene was weak here in Maine, too.
cw – Re: your post at 1:37, that’s why I’m pissed about this storm because the government has to base their warnings on what the news/weather people say, and all they cared about were the cities on coast. Forget the fact that all the forecasts then showed the storm moving almost due north from NYC. But those people don’t matter, right??? Stupid.
On a lighter note, are the people that I had in the fantasy hockey group on Yahoo last year interested in having another go? I will invite all of the active teams again, since I realize many regulars are not around here right now due to offseason/storm.
Oh hey – to all you people that said Beltran was SO under appreciated…..He was getting booed last night in San Fran – probably because he is hitting about .130 with RISP. I believe he is 4/34 or something like that. Are they undervaluing him out there!?

Great to have you back Carp! Glad you’re ok.
There you go. Welcome back, Carp! Life is good again….

I’m hoping for some lights tonight….I’m playing tennis after work too, so I may need a shower after, lol..
Who are the ad wizards that came up with this one?
Those are horrible looking jerseys….Should only be appropriate if worn in or around the funeral home…
Carp, who is the “coward”
They are the Rangers version of the Islanders fishstick jersey.
This jerseys reminds me more (and appropriate for) of an under ice scuba-diver’s gear. Would look horrible on ice for sure…

After a long night of making love, the guy notices a photo of another man, on the womans nightstand. He nervously asks,
“Is this your husband?”
“No, silly,” she replies.
“Your boyfriend, then?” he continues.
“No, not at all,” she says.
“Is it your brother?” he inquires; hoping to be reassured.
“No, no, no! You are so hot when you’re jealous!” she answers. “Well, who in the hell is he, then?” he demands.
She whispers in his ear, “That’s me before the surgery….
