Carp mulched another blog???
All bow to the mighty carpinator!!!
HAIL CARP!!!
HAIL CARP!!!
HAIL CARP!!!
Pierre?
I thought this post would be proclaiming the annihilation of “Defending the Core.”
Who is playing for the esteemed Victoria Cup this year?
mul-ti-pass lol. Hopefully all of the travel is a non-factor.
Bless my soul.. I first thought it would be an actor in the role of Ovechkin but thats real Ovechink..
How much blini or caviar can you eat to get such monsterous stomach ????:)
He looked like a sumo to me and this guy wants to continue to be a top star in the NHL and it was talked about he wants to change his offseason workouts…
God help the NHL :)
Work hard no Cup.
Get fat win Cup.
Carp you have forgotten the game on October 1st in the arabian desert when they face off against the camels of Sheik Abu el Sheriff from Dubai out of the United Arab Emirates !!!!!
It only looks like an extra 10 lbs. MAYBE. I’m sure Ovi can burn that off in a week of skating drills.
Pretending to Score: A Rangers Power Play blog
Sorry to bring up soccer but….....
Ovechkin is on his way to being the Ronaldo of the NHL (without all those pesky championships).
cluzzia,
if I am to understand your argument correctly, you are saying the Rangers are depriving their European fans by scheduling 4 games in 5 days because they will probably played with two split squads, thus removing star players from some of the games. You claim that this is purely a business move and bad for the hockey fan.
I disagree.
The Rangers will be playing only 3 preseason games in America. They will want to have as many preseason games as possible for their younger players, especially those on defense. Furthermore, the additional games allow coach Tortorella to play with line combinations with some of his new players.
While I agree that some fans will be deprived by not seeing some of the star players on the team, many more fans will be accomodated by being afforded the opportunity to see the team at all.
I really don’t have a problem with it.
Big European soccer clubs do it in America all the time. They have a couple of their A stars on the pitch, but it’s mostly a B team, with maybe the remaining stars coming on for the last 10 minutes or so just to get the applause.
“Get fat win Cup”will be inscribed on the Brodeur tombstone.
as long as they are ready to go on oct 7th vs the kings that is all that matters.
in fact i am saying now they have to come back from europe with at least a split vs kings and ducks. too tough talented teams.
i will sign now for 3-3-1 7 out of 14 pts in the 7 game trip before the home opener.
Get fatter, win three Cups.

There’s a few hockey players on the list, like OvechCANT, Malkin, Holik, Carcillo, but my favorite is number 23.
Horrifying!
lol LW, Carp!!!
#29 I mean
Marty B. ” see food, eat food”
Doodie do you really think a real european Rangers fan want to buy a ticket (whichs is by the way more expensive than a ticket at world famous Madison Square Garden !!!!) to a game where they have only four or five regulars in the lineup ?????
Do you really think its a good idea to showcase the NHL in fielding the younger guys on european soil ????
But you are right when you saying that big european soccer teams doing the same which is not corrrect at all as well !!!! Of course I agree I dont like it as well !!!!
I understand that those younger guys need to get those experiences in playing real games but you cant do it overseas or in international contests…
So we can all expect an apocalyptic “season over” post from Mr Positive eric if the Rangers go 0-1-1 after two games...
From Zip…
“Some random, last-season salary numbers to consider as the Dubinsky arb hearing looms tomorrow AM: Zajac, $4.5 mil; Horton, $4.5 mil; Backes, $4.5 mil, Jordan Staal, $4.5 mil, Umberger, $4.5 mil, Lucic $4.0, Kunitz, $4.0, Franzen, $5.2….Dubi’s in that range for a year or two, no?”
Holik had a monster sized cranium…..that is all i have to say about that…
“many more fans will be accomodated by being afforded the opportunity to see the team at all.”
I will definetly disagree ( especially with the term “many more”)with this because most of those local fans will problaby have only chance to see the Rangers in person, they definitely dont want to see those second string players….
LW – sadly, eric’s season ended the moment his lovely child was born
also from Zip…
“Was checking back on just before the Rangers went to Prague in 2008. I was fortunate enough to cover the two wins over Tampa in the Czech Republic. I remember Dubinsky scoring the winner in the first game, 2-1. with Markus Naslund scoring the other…..
That season, 65 players attended training camp. Here’s the 10 (according to my calcs) who are still in the organization: Dubi, Lundqvist, Anisimov, Callahan, Staal, Girardi, Weise, Del Zotto, Sauer, Kundratek. Turnover City.”
cluzzia – I understand that it’s annoying to some people. Some people fly down to Florida to see Spring training baseball knowing that they will only see one or two regulars and those guys will only play 2 or 3 innings, tops.
This is the nature of preseason sports.
i know i’m late this but after getting Carped
i wanted to repost
sorry for this long post
but
in regards to Dubi’s possible arbitration hearing
and ongoing contract talks
i’m just wondering
who is his agent?
because this is the second time that it’s been difficult
signing him to a contract so
either Dubi has a higher sense of self
than what is shown in reality
or his agent does.
no, i’m not saying trade him unless a VERY good deal
presents itself
but if one is to believe Uncle Larry
Dubi is not in the same class as Bobby Ryan
at least not as consistent
yes, i know there’s posturing in negotiations
there’s stuff that leaks that’s true and untrure
but
it’s a FACT that this is the 2nd time Dubi is up for
a contract and it’s not getting done easily (again)
unlike Hank or Boyle or Gabby or Richards or Cally or…
so,
what’s the problem?
or
better
who’s the problem?
carp
two things…
first, hope you were aware I was kidding earlier about the leetch thing.
second, you never cease to amaze me! I don’t know how the hell you got Messier to hand deliver an autographed leetch pic to me for the contest, but he just arrived…Byfuglien AWESOME!!!
Merci beaucoup!!
Torts hates Dublowsky’s agent. He made that perfectly clear! LOL! I do too!
“Do you really think its a good idea to showcase the NHL in fielding the younger guys on european soil ????”
It’s not the NHL’s showcase, it’s the Rangers’ preseason. The NHL’s showcase are all of the season opening series that will occur in Europe because they are legitimate contests between two NHL franchises.
Re-post for you eddie: http://img20.imageshack.us/img20/2716/easterisland5.jpg
Bobby Ryan has scored 30 goals in each of his past 3 seasons. In 08, he scored 31 in 64 games. So no, Dubinsky is not in the same class as Ryan in that regard. Ryan consistently has been scoring 30 plus.
cluzzia,
Pre-season NHL games always have a lot of guys that are not regular NHL players. There is a rule that you need a minimum number of under contract NHL players. There is also the risk of a big player getting injured in a pre-season game so why should the club risk its best players in a meaningless game?
gabs
I would take dubi over kunitz and umberger off of that list.
so the hawks walked away from the campoli award? what was it?
Ryan is a false comparison. He did not have arbitration rights. Had he had arbitration rights, he would have been earning at least 6.5 million per.
I remember the Rangers in the Czech republic. Redden had a PP goal in game 1, if I’m not mistaken.
And also, didn’t the Rangers win some competition against the KHL champs?
Wasn’t that the trip the rangers named dru captain?
wick, i thought you were joking, but I tend to boil over when I hear that Leetch-captain theory. sorry. I’m not mad.
And that’s why it took so long. Had to get Mess to come up from Hilton Head, get the photo and deliver it across the continent to you. That’s what you get for growing such an awesome beard.
oh, first Mess had to drive up to the Cape to get Leetch to sign it.
Leetch was not adismal
Doodie,
Yes, Redden had a PP goal. Both games were 2-1 Rangers. I was there!
He was tremendously tremendous.
carp
look at it this way, I even got you to pay, well, you!!
Sweet, next year I will have to really apply myself to maybe get an ULFIE visit!!
Thanks in all seriousness, very nice and thoughtful!!
I remember him scoring that goal and thinking to myself, OK, maybe this contract won’t be so bad.
in fact, in the immortal words of JR…...leetch was unadismal….moreover, he should be hired to tootaledge the young D
Doodie Rangers won Victoria Cup in Berne against Metallurg Magnitogorsk !
But anyway I thought about going to one of those games in Europe but as soon as I have learnt there are four in five nights, I have changed my opinion….
Yeah, and didn’t Redden score at the home opener at MSG a few days later? I think that was his last goal of the season.
Doodie,
I think most of us did. We said… ok, goal by Redden in his first game, good start, maybe he’s got something left.
...and then BAM. His game pulled a Houdini and dissapeared right in front of our beleagured eyes.
Rangers first three games of that season, Dredden had 2 goals, 2 assists, I think. We all thought we were getting our money’s worth!! Bwaha!
Then his next goal came aboot four-five months later, during Torts’ first game as coach, against Toronto. Then he disappeared again!
John bednarski was the greatest non-captain in rangers history….
cluzzia,
Where are you from?
Me personally? If I were a huge fan of a foreign team, I would go see them, even if it was their B squad.
That’s the hockey equivalent of a…. um…. well you know what tease.
Wade, the stick blade redden, should have won 8 Norris trophies…he was that good…..
doodie
just speculating, but I son’t think he is Swiss!
I was at the Victoria Cup game against Metallurg Magnitopansigorsk, Doodie.
3-0 down then two goals from Captain Clutch, one from the legendary Dan Fritsche and the winner in the last minute from some scrub Callahan, who we never heard from again. The glory days.
And Doodie believe me for a lot of those local fans in Zug, Gothenburg, Bratislava or Prague its not a preseason game, it is a showcase of the NHL….
or don’t…sheesh
did you guys see the caps put this guy on unconditional waivers??
http://www.nhl.com/ice/player.htm?id=8474583
The last pre-season game I went to, I lost my voice booing Lindros and Nedved. lol.
Just looking through the programme from the Victoria Cup game now.
Next to the team roster:
“Wade Redden…a new Rangers acquisition to finally replace the legendary blueliner Brian Leetch…”
“Markus Naslund…a new Rangers acquisition to replace superstar Jaromir Jagr.”
LW, tell me you are making that up! Geez, that’s totally delusional!
Okay we are coming close to midnight now and its time to say good bye !!!!!
I understand you guys eat, drink and breathe NY Rangers and there is no way that I can convince you to my points at all :)
But it doesnt matter :)
Good night from overseas !!!!
oops, my bad. they just ended negotiations…didn’t know that could happen either
http://spectorshockey.net/wordpress/2011/07/20/campoli-an-unrestricted-free-agent/
I also got to see a team of Russian Legends (including 85-year-old Slava Fetisov, Andrei “Tank” Kovalenko and Rangers jersey retirement in waiting, Valeri Kamensky) play against a team of Swiss Legends for the Europansy Trophy.
I didn’t know you could just say screw it with a guy and let him go to free agency when he had a hearing set up. I also didn’t think you could trade a guy that was arbitration eligible!
OOPS x 2!
“The fans in Bern can anticipate an international team with stars like Swedish goalkeeper Henrik Lundqvist, Canadian defender Wade Redden, Czech blueliner Michal Rozsival, or forwards like Americans Chris Drury, Scott Gomez and Swede Markus Naslund.”
LOL! “the Europansy Trophy”
matt cooke got traded by the pens…
georgemalik George Malik
RT @TigerbloodTuzzi: Breaking News: Penguins trade Matt Cooke to Africa for a honey badger. They expect the badger to be less vicious.
Apparently, Dmitri Kalinin’s nickname is/was “The Tree” due to his 191cm body height. Nothing to do with his mobility then.

Voice, thanks for the nightmares (in advance) with the Ricci photos.
any word on crosby’s rehab?
You’re welcome!
The list is missing Max Afinegenov though. Surprised he’s not there.
Also Mike Grier
carp – might as well add crosby to the widget…..his twitter name is….IgottaPooP
Butterbean?———>>
Crosby Update:
Training camp starts early this season for Sid the Kid as he is working out daily and developing all new embellishment moves for the upcoming season.
“Well,” said Crosby, “we’ve pretty much got the league right where we want them for the upcoming season. Mario already warned them (the NHL) that I’m not to be even looked at by the other players. Just in case the refs make a mistake and actually don’t make the calls, I’ve been working on some new diving plays.”
Falling to the floor with outstretched arms Crosby remarked, “I call this one the Louganis!”
Developing…
I don’t get why Butterbean is number one. He’s fat, bald, and white as a spring cloud. So what?
That’s nothing compared to Sam Cassell!
Huh? Butterbean?
Anybody want Campoli?
Butterbean is an overweight boxer. Or he used to be.
No to Campoli!
I like Dubi. Think he can be even better. But is only a straight up solid second liner. I think if he forces arbitration then he might be traded. IMO.
Would anyone do Dubi/Valentenko/Girardi for Suter/Radulov’s rights and the Preds 1st rounder next year?
Bored watching so you think you can dance with my wife so I will be refreshing!
Campoli is nice player but rather give MDZ and Erixon the icetime. But you pick up for chance at making a deal from strength for a scoring forward. So sure. Ain’t my money.
Radulov? Isn’t he in the KHL?
Yes but who wouldn’t come back to play for rangers. He has skill to complete top line. He is the throw in. Want Suter and the first rounder. Stock up on the first rounders to trade down. Hearing good draft next year. Suter is a stud. Dubi is a solid player and will be missed but gives a chance to a kid to move up if Radulov stays in k. Just thinking. My issue is Dubi will have twice taken rangers as far as he could. Not selfish as he is entitled but organization may view as traitorous.
carp
no to softpoli!
Refresh
Pass! If he wanted to come back, he’d be back. It seems like he just wants to play for the money in his home country, which he wouldn’t get in the NHL. Don’t want players like that on my team!
He’s only played two seasons in the NHL, and scored 25 goals in his last season. I’m sure teams are interested in him, but he just wants the money.
atta boy Paul – REFRESH, REFRESH, REFRESH !!!
Voice, No. 27 on that list is Don Mossi. I saw him play. They used to say he looked like a taxi coming down the street with its doors open.
Butterbean ?
Tony, interviewed a former NFLer from your neck of the woods, and mine, today. Seth Joyner, grew up in Rockland county here, now lives in Scottsdale. He couldn’t believe those dust storms.

Tony you okay in AZ?
Orr are any of those K teams actually making payroll?
Like I said. Just thinking. But do you agree that Dubi is not making any friends in the front office? I know he has the right to do what he can as an rfa but at some point when is it enough to play for the rangers. Is he 3 times better than AA? Take the 4-4.5 and call it a day. Just my opinion. I know you guys have hashed this out at length. And I like him and think he has ability to be a 70 point guy.
Reeeeeeeffffffffrrrrrrrrreeeeeeeessssssssshhhhhhhhhh
Paul, it’s fresh, alright….Those nuts put up more than 500 posts on an empty NHL day in July, lol….Imagine what will happen in August? oh, wait…
Um…..I forgot to mention I’m one of those nuts…
And no to Campoli…And Radulov. Sign Eminger and we are good to go.
Hattie….And an EN?
I read most of them. Speaking of nuts. What is the name of that candy/nut place at the garden on 33rd maybe. Under the marquee maybe? Peppermint park? Used to get stuff there before every game. Ahh memories.
Ilb – Dubi = Gordon Gekko
Maybe, maybe not, Paul. The fact that it’s a player they’ve drafted, it could leave more of a sour taste than it did two years ago.
As for Radulov, I could be wrong, and confusing him with another player, but, I remember reading something aboot a Russian player, that might have been him, saying he wanted to go home to Russia and play hockey, instead of in the NHL.
Like I said, I could be wrong.
I may be crazy. But it just may be a lunatic you’re looking for.
Have not been paying attention so could be. Just thought that if you got Suter and a first. Maybe Radulov who burned that Pred bridge has an excuse to return.
Like Emmy.
What was the Zherdev award? Stats very similar no?
Rangers walked away. Recall that award? Anyone? Beuller?
$3.9M…
My five year old daughter went on summer camp field trip this week to the panthers home bankatlantic center. Answered the trivia question “what is a hat trick?” “when you score three goals”. Then pointed to every action photo that “that’s my dad”. While I was fortunate enough to play one adult league game there – I highly doubted that they had my pictures on the wall. Funny though.
Nice ilb. Perfect award for dubi. I like it. Two years at that $ is good.
Refreshing
you all watch dubi and cally will be the only 2 who go to arbitration.
the korpedo and purcell avoided today.
i could see parise and weber perhaps going as well
dubi agent is the problem i believe. torts wants to strangle him
According to Brooks the Rangers maybe asking for 1 year award only. He can’t explain how that can be beneficial for the team. I think it could their tactic to make him sign the contract….
3.9 i will do a dance anything over 5 i will punch a wall
Dublowsky’s agent is definitely the problem. He’s brainwashing the kid.
Paul, a little dusty here in AZ with all our dust storms. But it’s a cool 110 degrees !
Well since agents make a portion of the contract. It would make sense that he would push dubi to milk the contract for all its worth.
Tony. Car was in an uncovered lot today… My creditcard like garage parking card melted. Then it poured rain. I will take it over the dust though that was some 2012 looking stuff. Like special effects. How do you deal? Are there warnings?
If it is an agent thing then dubi needs to be his own man. His agent is not makings things easy for his client. In my line of business not something we try to do.
wasn’t dubi one of the two guys that avery said was a problem after he left here? or am I thinking of someone else?
There were 29 30+ goal scores last year.
Only 1 of those players did more than 2 minutes of PK per game (Ryan Kesler 2:33)
18 players PK’d less than 45 seconds per game, 13 of those players less than 20 seconds
I think it’s fair to say a good handful would not be 30 goal scorers if you took away a minute or more of their even strength/PP time and had them PK.
Since 16 of those players had 32 goals or less, so you are only looking at a difference of 1 to 3 goals over the course of the season.
__
Both Dubi and Cally PK’d over 2 minutes per game. Prust sayin.
All these dust storms mean they must be cleaning out Jobing.com Arena. Instead of using a duster, they should just vacuum all the dust. Fools!
Again. Dubi is a very good and versatile player who does a lot things for the team. He has improved every season he has been here. In fact, Sather has on more than one occasion said that every time he calls another g.m. Looking to do a deal, the first player everyone asks for is Dubi. So clearly, he is very well regarded around the league and would fetch a nice return in a trade as his trade value according to Sather is a lot higher than the arm chair g.m.’s on this blog think.
That being said, Dubi needs to put up some more points before he cracks the 5 million per season threshold. I hope at the very least that if the arbitration hearing doesn’t go like Sather wants he doesn’t just look to dump him to Maloney or on the cheap and gets a good return for him.
is it a weird weather year or what?
See, Slats shouldn’t publicly admit that every team asks for Dublowsky, because you know his troll of an agent is saying, “ohhh, master Brandon, we can get soo much money Don’t take a discount, take a short term deal, and when we’re UFA’s, we’re going to be soo rich, weee”
That’s how I imagine an agent talks. To me, agents are like Smeagle/Gollum!
Dubi=my precious.
Is Bobby Orr Dubinsky’s agent?
He’s Stahl’s, I think.
oh Stawl’s…
in other news: did you guys hear about Russian family ran prostitution ring busted on Coney Island? lol Too bad i found out about that place now!
http://www.sheepsheadbites.com/2011/07/family-run-prostitution-ring-busted-earned-more-than-7-million/
The family that pimps together, stays together!
Rangers move to kansas city yet?
Sweden Czech Republic and Slovakia – Orr, can you imagine the women that the boys are going to be sampling over there!? It’s gonna be a “smorgasbord” of trim for the Rangers at the season’s start – I hope they have something left for the rest of the season when they get back here! ;-D
“in other news: did you guys hear about Russian family ran prostitution ring busted on Coney Island? lol Too bad i found out about that place now!”
3CP, I heard about that place today on the radio, and I immediately wondered if you had something to do with it!! ;-D
CCCP = Brooklyn Pimp
Big pimping up in NYC!
I wish I knew about that place earlier! It’s few blocks from where i live!
3CP, I heard that they were getting $10,000 a night for some of their gals – you’ve got that many rubles to spend on a hot babe for one evening!? ;-)
http://www.howmanydaysuntilhockey.com/index.php?Team=NYR
We have a countdown!
10 grand a night? It better be first lady for that many rubles!
I rather go on vacation for 10 grand than spend it on a “night butterfly” ;)
80 Days! Ugh!
I was listening to Lady Gaga perform these two songs the other day, and I must say, I enjoyed them, and have been listening ever since.
I don’t like her music though. But, if it’s just her and a piano, I’ll listen.
That being said, I understand why Carp is one of her biggest fans. Great voice, surprisingly.
dde: “Both Dubi and Cally PK’d over 2 minutes per game. Prust sayin.”
