So now I guess it’s OK to talk hockey AND golf …

… since former almost-Ranger Joe Sakic made this hole-in-one for a$1 million prize. [1]

So, Saturday we’re at the family golf outing. We’re honoring the memory my late uncle who, in the 22 years of our family outing, was the only person to ever get a hole in one. And on Saturday, the day we’re honoring him, his daughter made a hole in one. How about that?

I played in another outing a few years ago to benefit my sister’s kids’ school. Well, she wins a raffle to take one shot on a par-3 and a chance to win $1 million with a hole in one.

So I carried my sister’s clubs up to the tee box and everybody who was in the outing came out of the clubhouse and surrounded the green so it looked like a PGA Tour event. And my sister knocked it in … to the parking lot.

I’ve actually only seen one hole in one in my life. That was by Rob Astorino, who is now the Westchester County executive. He made it at a media day for the tournament the PGA used to host at Westchester Country Club. He won some golf balls. Whoopee.

And, since we’re talking other sports — to the chagrin of a few people who want to discuss next season’s lines every minute of the entire summer — here’s a tie-in between the women’s World Cup soccer and your NHL.

Really? They really decide the World Cup on penalty kicks? Really? Idiots.
