Rangers president/GM Glen Sather addressed the media in attendance in Minnesota following the draft today and discussed a number of issues, though some of those vaguely, including the futures of Chris Drury and possibly Matt Gilroy, and the trade of Evgeny Grachev for a third-round pick.

Why can’t the Isles just move to KC and get it over with? Bet my bottom dollar the new arena deal tanks. A really shifty owner not to be trusted, they have. First year the Isles are the new Kansas City Steers, we can all say: Zero Cups In One Year!
Don’t be so sure that the arena deal will be rejected – almost all of the politicians in Nassau County are lobbying and shilling for the Isles cause – they don’t want to see the pro sports wasteland that is Long Island to be abandoned by the NHL.
I worry that the Isles move to KC, and the Isles fans become NYR fans.

The league was smart when they only allowed another NHL team to be as close to the Ranger center of operations as is Buffalo.
If it were not for the WHA’s encroachment on the NHL markets in the early 1970’s, the league would never have allowed a rival team to be headquartered so close to NYC.

Yeah, the coaches may have fugged him up, by playing him on the 4th line, but, minutes are minutes. When you’re on the ice, do something productive, and you’ll be rewarded.

You mean to tell me that if Grachev was lighting it up in Hartford, even when playing on the 3rd or 4th line, that they wouldn’t move him up the roster? Who are they protecting that he wouldn’t be able to move into their spot!? Do we have a Gretzky in Hartford that I’ve not heard about?
Granted, I don’t know anything, but if he was relegated to a 4th line, chances are that he was playing up to the abilities of a 4th line player. They didn’t draft him to be a 4th liner!
He was brought up to the Big Show for 8 games this past season, and he did bupkus(sp?). Did he impress anyone here?
fact of the matter is he didnt produce and he showed nothing in his two years that would suggest he would produce going forward.

I think you’re right, Orr – the NYR organization wanted to make him into an NHL-worthy player, and in 2 years, they couldn’t do it – he wanted out, and probably figured that he would get a fresh start somewhere else.
Maybe our development people are at fault – but he did get a chance to play up here for a short time, he was given a “change of scenery” to see if he would blossom in the pressure of the big leagues, and he really didn’t show us anything.
Maybe JD down in St. Louis sees something that our guys don’t – anything’s possible!

ORR, you spend a tremendous amount of time on this blog. I am guessing you are in your 20’s…...You should put the same amount of passion and time into something more constructive like schooling or a career. Thank goodness the internet was not around at the height of my NY Rangers hang-up/obsessive years (1978-1996)...........I will always remember my Dad yelling at me to do my homework….all i cared about is if bobby carpenter would be the answers to all our prayers with ridley and miller going to the caps….lol…...or if johnny orgrodnick would put the puck in the net rather than hitting freakin’ post every game.
