One home stand of six games early and one of seven games late. Aside from the initial seven game roadie, they only have a trip of four games once and three games four times. They play their last 5 games against the east’s best. Could be good or bad depending on their opponents compete level at that time.

Anyway, we have a little vacation house upstate, it’s on the lake and also very close to Hudson River. It’s not far from exit 21 on NY Thruway, hour and a half drive from Manhattan, two in traffic. My wife and I want to offer it for the boneheads summer gathering. We can do fishing, boating, kayaking, drinking, eating, talk Rangers and whatever crazy stuff we want.
So, it should be one of the Saturdays this summer.
The options are 7/9, 7/23, 7/30, 8/6. Once I have all the responses and preferences, I’ll be able to choose one- majority wins.

So, today the Flyers basically confirmed they’re signing Bryzgalov, long term, and they replaced a 30-40 goal scorer, Carter, for a borderline 20+ goal scorer, Voracek, and they traded a 30 goal scorer, Richards, for a 15 goal scorer, Simmonds, and a prospect, Schenn, who could make an impact this season, or not.
How does this help them win the Stanley Cup?

Richards is a 70 point guy that plays against the toughest competition for the Flyers. He could do very well if he gets weaker competition in LA if other teams chose to match up against Kopitar’s line.

I just think it’s crazy that they actually happened. How often is it that a franchise trades away two legitimate first liners on the same day, in exchange for assets that are not equivalent to them at this point in time?
Flyers moved back the clock a bit on being a contender. But they still have Giroux, JVR, Briere and Hartnell. The only problem is that this doesn’t really align too well with their defense given the age of Pronger and Timmonen.

They had 2 perfectly capable centers in Carter and Richards that were also younger and better goal scorers (although Brad is a better set up man). This is all about blowing up their core.

Bryz’s contract is for a few too many years, but I can’t believe Holmgren got what he got for those guys. Great moves and he gets rid of two players who were huge clubhouse cancers for them in that locker room. Both were way too immature and ran their way out of town.

I don t care what the Flyers did. What pisses me off is that the Kings offered us Scenn and Symmonds for glass Joe Gaborik, Mr. Slovakia last year and we turned it down. What Sather should be doing is looking to dump Girardi to a team for either young forward help or a number one pick while his trade value is still high. I read a Rumor that the Bruins were looking to trade the #9 pick and this years 3rd rounder for Girardi and next years 2nd. If true, I would do that trade and draft Ryan Murphy to quaterback the power play . He scored 26g and 53 assists in 78 games!! He is only 5 10.5 and 185 lbs. But so was Leetch when he was drafted. He will probably hit around 6 feet as he gets older. At 15, would draft Ty Biggs or Mark McNiel and call it a day.

CTO, Kulemin had 30-27-57, which was also spread out consistently over the whole year. Boyle had 21-14-35, which was heavily frontloaded. 3 goals and 5 assists in February and March.
So while Kadri is still just all potential, I’m buying Kulemin.

I don’t get what the big deal about Biggs is. From everything I’ve read, he’s going to be like Dubinsky, except more physical, but not as good offensively. That’s the definition of a good third liner. Why waste a first rounder on that?

By the way, in a strange twist, the salary cap rising the way it has actually may make Drury an asset. He won’t play this year which means insurance will cover 4 of the 5 million that he is owed. For team like Pheonix that appears to be far from the salary cap floor, Drury is very valuable. It is very ironic that Drury by not playing may turn out to be more valuable to us than when he played.

Why does all these TSN guys keep saying the “Flyers are going younger”? That makes no sense. These guys are 26. They have Briere, Pronger, O’Donnell, who are older guys.

They have Mike Richards, Kopitar, and Stoll as their top three centers.. that looks pretty good to me. And they could resign Handzus. who is a perfect 4th line center, for cheap or go with a prospect for the fourth line. They need some wingers, especially if Smyth leaves.

Lindros never played a full season in his career … the most he ever played was 81 games back in 02-03 season.
So CZECH – If we should knock “Not Joe” Girardi for blocking shots, I guess we should laud Drury for playing shinny on the empty side of the pond, and not blocking shots. Girardi makes mistakes, but when he does he cares enough to cover what he can, at great sacrifice to his body, and with immense courage.
