Some highlights from those Vancouver Riot photos:
1. Obviously the people doing it in the middle of the street are awesome. I don’t know how that moment became romantic, but hey, hope he had his Cialis.
2. Punk rockers getting involved to mix it up with riot police.
3. The kid in the Kesler jersey getting smacked with a riot stick.
4. Mounted police are awesome. Kudos to the horses for note getting spooked by all the fire and white people throwing up gang signs.
5. Hey the Canucks lost but I got this awesome Gucci bag!
Also another highlight was the idiot trying to jump through a burning car, only to fall in! Bwaha! After I saw that, I was officially glued to the screen.
I watched Canadian news for aboot four hours. I like Canadian news!
Manny
Yea the couple making out is AWESOME. Can you imagine that conversation?
“Baby I hate the BLEEPING Canucks. I Can’t believe they lost. Damn you look hot in that skirt. I want to BLEEP BLEEP BLEEEEEEEP all up in your BLEEP BLEEP BLEEEP with a BLEEP BLEEEEP. ” (tackles girl to floor and proceeds to BLEEP BLEEP BLEEP)

The real Brodeur would have thought “I wonder what I can BBQ with that fire?”
For all the talk about how dangerous New York is, this stuff never happens when we get to the finals of any sport. Win or lose, NY fans are class.

ORR – here is a clip from that convo as seen by Ben Affleck in Mallrats:
Shannon Hamilton: “Yeah, who’s your favorite New Kid. Yeah, call me Joey. Oh, come on. Don’t make me get loose. Yeah, that’s right. Call me Donnie. Oh, girl. Oh, please don’t go girl. ”
Doodie Machetto
LW, Thomas is a bit different than Lundqvist, no? I mean, Lundqvist has already played more NHL games than Thomas. By the time he’s 37, he’ll have played Thomas’ entire career up to this point 3 times over.
It’s not just the age, it’s the number of minutes played.
If you want to find a better comparison, you have to look at heavy workhorses, guys like Brodeur. He won his last Cup at 31. Osgood isn’t a good comparison because Detroit won despite Osgood, not because of him.
I think the closest you can come to a fair comparison that late in the game is Patrick Roy in 2002. He was 36 going on 37. But that team was also STACKED.
Doodie Machetto
Luongo is the new Nabokov. Nabongov.
CTBlueshirt
Yeah but you could say that all of Roy, Brodeur and Osgood had great teams in front of them. I don’t think it’s much of a coincidence that after Stevens and Niedermayer left the Devils they haven’t won anything since.

I still can’t belive the pieces of carcillo on display last night!
LOL! The guy that tried to jump over the burning car and fell in was such a dope!!
And, that schmuck that charged the cops got what he deserved!
But, IMO, there needed to be more tasing and rubber bullets….
Doodie Machetto
CTB, you’re absolutely right. Old goaltenders (in terms of mileage) don’t win Cups on their own.
BTW, earlier this season, Carp challenged us to rank the best goaltenders in the league. I said at the time that it was Thomas, based on his Vezina two years ago and his presumable Vezina this year (he was wayyyyy out in front at the time). Add this year’s playoffs to the list, and can there be any doubt that he isn’t the premier netminder in the NHL right now? I’m not saying you would pick him if you were building a new franchise, because he’s just not young enough, but if you were building a team for just one season, Thomas has to be the starting goaltender, right?
Doodie Machetto
I should clarify: Old goaltenders (in terms of mileage) haven’t won a Cup on their own.
I’m not going to say it’s impossible, but I haven’t seen it.
Manny
Conn Smythe + Vezina = Monster Season

Henrik is an athletic freak and not fat like Brodeur so I don’t see his window ending for 7-8 years.

NYR_FAN
I remember that Doodie. And, at the time, I said Luongo was the most overrated goalie in the league! LOL!
Manny
NYR – Amen. More Tasing and WAY more rubber bulleting and PLEASE film it!
Doodie Machetto
Brodeur wasn’t always fat. He was really, REALLY good, for a while.
CTBlueshirt
In the past 25-30 years Roy in 86 and 93 was one of the few goalies that “won the Cup by himself”. Hasek would have done it in 99 had the Sabres won and maybe Giguere in 03. Otherwise you pretty much have strong teams in front of good to great goalies. I mean you’ve got the Oilers and Islanders dynasties, 4 strong Red Wings teams, 3 strong Pittsburgh teams, 2 fairly stacked Avs teams and a smattering of teams like the Rangers/Stars/Ducks that were pretty good front to back.
Manny
CT – do you have any stats on how many cars were flipped last night vs. how many were burned?
Doodie Machetto
CTB, what about the Devils? give credit where it’s due. Stevens and Niedermayer are great, but the rest of some of those teams were pretty atrocious.
2000 they had the A line and I think were the 2nd highest scoring team in the league. I refuse to recognize 95 because it was only half a season, although Claude Lemieux was as a big of a reason for them winning as anyone. 2003 I barely remember, but I find it interesting that Brodeur never won the Conn Smythe. I’m not saying he didn’t play a part or that the Devils would have won with just anyone, but I don’t think they won solely because of him either.
Doodie Machetto
CTB, Brodeur was robbed of the Conn Smythe in 2003. Should’ve been him over Giguere.
CTBlueshirt
2003 playoffs
Brodeur: 1.65 GAA, 7 SO, .934% with 63 GF in 24 gm
Giguere: 1.62 GAA, 5 SO, .945% with 45 GF in 21 gm
That doesn’t look like that much of a robbery to me.
CTBlueshirt
The Ducks were also 7-0 in OT games that playoffs, the Devils were 2-4.
Manny

I got carped, so here it goes again:
I heard the Vancouver police finally had to send out Tim Thomas to stop the riot since he stopped everything else in this finals
Doodie Machetto
Right, but what those stats don’t tell is that Brodeur completely outplayed Giguere in the Final. Brodeur had 3 shutouts in the Final, including game 7. To me, that says he should get the trophy instead of the guy whose best play was in the rounds preceding the Final.

doodie,
Yeah he probably was a worthy candidate, but the Ducks had like one other elite player and that was Kariya who wasn’t really that productive. The Ducks were the upstarts, underdogs and playing against a team that had made it to the finals for the 3rd time in 4 years. Also Brodeur lost the 2 OT games in the finals and had much better goal support throughout the series. Could he have won? Probably. But it wasn’t really robbery.
Manny
wicky?
Wicky (Going with the 18" tires on this thing)
I had not seen the people “getting busy” until your link Orr, LMFAO!!
In their Defense when the Rangers were eliminated I threw my glasses against the wall so hard that they shattered. Then I think I jumped up and down on my Rangers hat and then laid on the floor for about 2 hours drooling and not speaking.
My cousin, who lives in Vancouver and who is a diehard ‘Nucks fan wrote this to me when i said that Vancouver fans are stupid lol
His words- “Anyway, each fan-base has its bad thing…. I remember a few weeks ago, the Bruins were “boo-ed” in their own stadium only because they were not scoring on powerplay. And in the Vancouver Stadium I (never) heard the fans booing any player of their own team and they also continued with their classic “LUUU” and it was beautiful to see them standing up for the last minute even if the team was loosing 4-0”
nothing says “we’re angry that our team lost” like stealing. Oh wait, that’s right, the two have nothing to do with each other.
Manny
Booing and vandalizing the crap out of your town is totally the same idea!
Doodie Machetto
I can understand taking to the streets. I can even understand the vandalism and destruction of property (although do not condone it). These are crimes of anger.
But then stealing stuff? What the hell does that have to do with being angry?
Manny
Stealing stuff and getting to 3rd base in the middle of the street has nothing to do with hockey or losing or anything else. I think its just booze fueled rage.
Manny
Doodie if one of those vandals was your client what would your defense be? (You’re not allowed to use an “it wasn’t me” defense). Crime of Passion?
Doodie Machetto
I don’t do criminal, but I’d have them not try and defend themselves. Just apologize a lot and say it was stupid and beg for mercy.
CTBlueshirt
That better goal support was because he shut the Ducks out 3 times. Just saying.
***
And if a few of his wins were 3-1 instead of 3-0 scores it still equates to better goal support.
You’ve certainly made a case that he could have been the Conn Smythe winner, but it’s a tougher argument to say that he was robbed of the award by a player that was every bit as crucial to his team’s success even if his team came up 1 win short.
Manny
It’s probably the best legal strategy. I can’t imagine the amount of Pro Se defendants they will have. Good point! I don’t do criminal either. I can’t take the stress of screwing up and someone going to jail for life.
So Lundqvist’s “window” will definitely close at an age three years younger than Tim Thomas is now?

sather would go for shelly an over the hill guy on his last skate. right up sathers alley.
rangers have been trying to solve the enforcer role for years with almost universally bad results. how about just having more overall team toughness and not counting on 1 guy who cannot skate….
CTBlueshirt
Well he avoided the 3 year deal with Shelley the first time so I don’t think he goes back to him. He did try to sign a younger enforcer but enforcers should be like relief pitchers in baseball that are only used to get one side of the plate out, not very expensive and hopefully from somewhere within the organization to keep the costs down even more.

Not so good afternoon all. Oh well. Game over, season over indeed.
I just couldn’t be here last night. Too depressing a night as it was and I had no humor to spare if I got annoyed (which I did anyway in the morning review, ahem).
I gotta say, I wish I’d never rooted for anyone in this series. I’ll give credit where it’s due to the winners of course, but I wish I’d just ignored the whole thing. I can’t laugh at those fans’ behavior, it makes me absolutely sick, and I’m just as glad they didn’t the chance to have their team win.
Hmm, perhaps I’m still not quite over my mood….Perhaps instead of job hunting today I’ll just go search for old Seinfeld episodes.

The point only applies if Sally is leading by less than one-hundo, if we get raptured, or if I feel like it.
Latona
Mama,
Anaheim and Carolina both won on home ice. But 1994 was much better.
Agree that the odds are against goalies being Cup winners past 35. I’m more making the point that we shouldn’t be dealing in absolutes all the time, like the suggestion that it just can’t be done, so the Rangers have to mortgage everything in the next 5 years. Or that you simply can’t win the Cup with the goalie being your best player.
And Fatso got three shutouts in the 2003 Final because hd barely had a tough shot to save in any of those three games.
Latona
Manny,

I recall the guys from the AVG, Robert L Scpott ( God is my CoPilot etc, and Pappy Boyington and the rest of those pirates. ) I knew a southREN lad from dixie, who had professed his tendency to take benzedrine to stay awake on the road, as he had written across his bumper …”BENNY IS MA CO-POLIT” As Benney was a benzedrine pill…they kidded themselves. Doodie – Really with this ‘mileage’ stuff? Really? Come on man. What do you think Thomas was doing all those years before he came to the NHL?
Bottom line is if you’re in good shape(which Thomas is) and you have good reflexes(which he obviously does) you can goaltend into your 40s. What about Roloson? Or Hasek’s cup?
This garbage about Hank getting old is just that: Garbage. Admittedly, I’d rather see him win the cup next year instead of five years down the road. But to say he’s going to be washed up five years and counting(I’ve read some ridiculous posts about three years and counting) is going overboard.
Doodie Machetto
Actually Phil, Thomas was playing less than 50 games a year until 2005 when he played 54 in Finland. Before then, he had only played in 40+ twice, in 2001 and 2003. And look at his AHL/NHL totals since then:
Now, I know you like to count non-NHL games as if they were anything even remotely close to NHL games (they aren’t), but I will humor you just the same.
Thomas has played in 881 games at the collegiate level or higher (not counting any international appearances, although, I’m not sure if he’s had any), including playoffs. Only 387 were at the NHL level.
Patrick Roy retired at 37. By the time he retired, he had played in 1383 games at juniors or higher (not counting international appearances), including playoffs. 1206 of them were at the NHL level.
So, I repeat, he has a lot less mileage than most 37 year old goaltenders.
JUdging goal tenders is a very tricky practice, especially when they are only seen on a couple of occasions. Cam Ward stunned me by his ability. ( still am ).
I saw Weekes a couple times with Hurricanes, and on a few with Rangers and he impressed as being huge, but somewhat on the slow side. He does a fine job however in the booth. Emile Francis was the most spectacular goal tender I’ve ever seen. Johnny Bower was a great GT, and so was Glen Hall. Jacques Plante was marvelous but he was injured too many times, and goal tenders today can thank him for his sacrifice.
Chuck Rayner had so many scar sewings on his face that he looked unearthly. I tell you folks those days were iron men playing a blood sport. The really big goal tenders came along about then also, Bill Durnan ( the ambidextrous goalie), Turk Broda who had great defense in front of him, Terry Sawchuk
who set a standard for excellence in a vicious era, but today there are numerous goal tenders who are very good but some highly over rated ( Like DiPietro).
The Wings had a solid GT named Harry Lumly who was solid in their cup years then, but very unremarkable in style.
First time I saw Tim Thomas all I could think of is that he looks
like a broken cardboard box out there. But what a box!.
Manny
Hey Fran – What type of planes are they using to bomb Lybia? I think NATO is doing the bombing right? They should have some pretty cool technology. Also…Why don’t they just use drones to bomb?
Doodie Machetto
“but some highly over rated ( Like DiPietro)”
Ha, I don’t think anyone overrates him anymore. I don’t think they rate him at all. “Incomplete.”
Boom Boom Bathgate
You are right CTBlueshirt, regarding the Rangers movement to youth. Some credit Torts with that. Others, like myself, ask the good question, why the hell did it take Slats a DECADE for the light to go on that you build championships from within, not from overpriced, downside career spiral FA signings!
James G
Hey guys! Sorry for the absence been working WAY too much. how are the playoffs going? did we tie up the series with Washington yet?
Manny
We won James! We did it! No more mountains to climb!
phil
Doodie – Thomas also played most of the season last year injured. So what’s your point? You’re comparing apples and oranges to make a point that doesn’t make any sense. Unless I’m mistaking, you’re saying we better win now with Hank or else, because his window to win a cup is closing. Arguing that about a top-notch athlete who’s style of goaltending isn’t high-impact on his body just makes no sense to me when the guy is 29! That argument doesn’t even work for most players, and they take more of a beating than goaltenders.
Also, don’t get me wrong. I want to win now.
Boom Boom Bathgate
Imagine if there were no Stanley Cup awarded to the NHL championship team – just speeches and handshakes all around. If that were the case, winning the NHL title would garner about 10 words in the press, buried on page three of the sports section, and evoke yawns instead of rioting in the streets of the finals cities.
So that, the Stanley Cup itself, as the most prestigious sports symbol in the world, is a hell of a lot more significant than the outcome of any hockey season, and the sport of hockey, itself.
Boom Boom Bathgate
Thanks fran, for the GT observations. Our own Gump Worsley deserves mention as one of the most talented and colorful goalies who ever lived. And his teammates in New York went miles out of their way to protect him, unmasked as he was, they thought so highly of him.
Boom Boom Bathgate
Re Fran and “Red China,” – “Better Dead Than Red” has become: “Better dead than Red, White, and Blue.”
Doodie Machetto
“Unless I’m mistaking, you’re saying we better win now with Hank or else, because his window to win a cup is closing”
You are mistaking. I’m just saying that you can’t look at Thomas and say “he’s 37, so Lundqvist can do that at 37!”
Every goaltender is different. Every one of them handles wear and tear differently, has different amounts of wear and tear, etc.
That said, there is a general range for players of every position that is considered “prime.” 37, even for goaltenders, is generally past their prime. Guys playing great at 37 is the exception, not the rule.
So there is some pressure to try and be competitive sooner rather than later, because you don’t know whether Lundqvist is a guy that will be Tim Thomas at 37 or Grant Fuhr at 37.
Blogmama

LOL! Check out the photo gallery from last nights riot.

My favorite is the couple making out in the middle of the street. Looks like a scene from War Of The Worlds, or something.
Manny, don’t forget the dogs!
Also another highlight was the idiot trying to jump through a burning car, only to fall in! Bwaha! After I saw that, I was officially glued to the screen.
I watched Canadian news for aboot four hours. I like Canadian news!
The real Brodeur would have thought “I wonder what I can BBQ with that fire?”
http://cdn.photos.tmz.com/gallery_images/images/2011/06/116450784_10_full.jpg
Yeah, I’d love to hear what was said.
Guy: Baby, oh yeaah, call me Crosby! Call me Bieber!
Girl: Crosby, Bieber, Crosby, Bieber, Bieby, Crieber!
Guy: Ahhhhhhhhh!
Then a horse stomps on them…
For all the talk about how dangerous New York is, this stuff never happens when we get to the finals of any sport.
Luongo is the new Nabokov. Nabongov.
I should clarify: Old goaltenders (in terms of mileage) haven’t won a Cup on their own.
I’m not going to say it’s impossible, but I haven’t seen it.
Conn Smythe + Vezina = Monster Season
Henrik is an athletic freak and not fat like Brodeur so I don’t see his window ending for 7-8 years.
(knocks on wood)
I remember that Doodie. And, at the time, I said Luongo was the most overrated goalie in the league! LOL!
NYR – Amen. More Tasing and WAY more rubber bulleting and PLEASE film it!
Brodeur wasn’t always fat. He was really, REALLY good, for a while.
CT – do you have any stats on how many cars were flipped last night vs. how many were burned?
CTB, what about the Devils? give credit where it’s due. Stevens and Niedermayer are great, but the rest of some of those teams were pretty atrocious.
Remember this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zbpj9_UM-Fo
ha, totally forgot it. hilarious.
CTB, Brodeur was robbed of the Conn Smythe in 2003. Should’ve been him over Giguere.
2003 playoffs
Brodeur: 1.65 GAA, 7 SO, .934% with 63 GF in 24 gm
Giguere: 1.62 GAA, 5 SO, .945% with 45 GF in 21 gm
That doesn’t look like that much of a robbery to me.
The Ducks were also 7-0 in OT games that playoffs, the Devils were 2-4.
Food Fight!
I got carped, so here it goes again:
I heard the Vancouver police finally had to send out Tim Thomas to stop the riot since he stopped everything else in this finals
Right, but what those stats don’t tell is that Brodeur completely outplayed Giguere in the Final. Brodeur had 3 shutouts in the Final, including game 7. To me, that says he should get the trophy instead of the guy whose best play was in the rounds preceding the Final.
According to SNY, Jagr wants to go to the Red Wings?!? Wow! That would be something!
Jagr isn’t coming to the NHL. It’s all just a ploy for leverage in Russia. He’s never coming back.
Sigh….he should have never left the Rangers…
Morning ILB and all!!
Manny?
I hope we keep Feds!
Wet tshirt contest?
doodie,
Yeah he probably was a worthy candidate, but the Ducks had like one other elite player and that was Kariya who wasn’t really that productive. The Ducks were the upstarts, underdogs and playing against a team that had made it to the finals for the 3rd time in 4 years. Also Brodeur lost the 2 OT games in the finals and had much better goal support throughout the series. Could he have won? Probably. But it wasn’t really robbery.
wicky?
I had not seen the people “getting busy” until your link Orr, LMFAO!!
Cccp?
I LOVE THIS PHOTO! LOL

They are burning a FORD! They hate America!
nice purse! you freaking camel! :)
Good for Boston. Ahh Vancouver… nothing says, “i’m a fan” like flipping a ford.
http://youtu.be/giaBe-yXDOY
And in the Vancouver Stadium I (never) heard the fans booing any player of their own team and they also continued with their classic “LUUU” and it was beautiful to see them standing up for the last minute even if the team was loosing 4-0”
oh forgot to add..he is 17 years old :)
“Also Brodeur lost the 2 OT games in the finals and had much better goal support throughout the series”
That better goal support was because he shut the Ducks out 3 times. Just saying.
No photo of the riot was better than the couple having some fun with eachother in the middle of the street while surrounded by riot police
http://storage.canoe.ca/v1/dynamic_resize/sws_path/suns-prod-images/1307822762728_ORIGINAL.jpg?quality=80&size=650x
nothing says “we’re angry that our team lost” like stealing. Oh wait, that’s right, the two have nothing to do with each other.
Booing and vandalizing the crap out of your town is totally the same idea!
I can understand taking to the streets. I can even understand the vandalism and destruction of property (although do not condone it). These are crimes of anger.
But then stealing stuff? What the hell does that have to do with being angry?
Stealing stuff and getting to 3rd base in the middle of the street has nothing to do with hockey or losing or anything else. I think its just booze fueled rage.
Doodie if one of those vandals was your client what would your defense be? (You’re not allowed to use an “it wasn’t me” defense). Crime of Passion?
I don’t do criminal, but I’d have them not try and defend themselves. Just apologize a lot and say it was stupid and beg for mercy.
It’s probably the best legal strategy. I can’t imagine the amount of Pro Se defendants they will have. Good point! I don’t do criminal either. I can’t take the stress of screwing up and someone going to jail for life.
LOL! A Nucks fan took a flash grenade to the balls!
so that’s it… hockey is over. just like that! boooooooooooo
LW3H June 16th, 2011 at 8:36 am
So Lundqvist’s “window” will definitely close at an age three years younger than Tim Thomas is now?
Can CCCP confirm this?
—————————————
YES! CONFIRMED! LOL
Roberto LeBrongo! LMAO!
The Hockey News has listed top 10 buyout candidates, with Drury #1. Interesting note is that Shelley is #9. If he gets bought out, you think Slats bites for Boogaard’s replacement?
LOL! A Nucks fan took a kick to the d*ck!
But Shelley brings leadership to the lockerroom…as did Drury.
sather would go for shelly an over the hill guy on his last skate. right up sathers alley.
rangers have been trying to solve the enforcer role for years with almost universally bad results. how about just having more overall team toughness and not counting on 1 guy who cannot skate….
Rioting is AWESOME. They should give out a Conn Smythe for the best rioter.
Manny,
Do I detect subversion? Am I going to have to report you to the House Committee on Un-American Activities?
No! Don’t do it. I am a good American. If the rioting was in this country I would declare treason. This is just letting our enemies ruin themselves. Maybe the Taliban should get a hockey team!
Rioting is for Europansies.
CT,
Just because YOU refuse to count the ‘95 Devils team doesn’t mean that they didn’t defeat a soon-to-be Detroit powerhouse in four games.
That did, in fact, happen. Good point.
I will tell you something, Latona. I refuse to NOT count the ‘95 season. Looks like we are all at an impasse.
P.S. Good afternoon, Sally! (Been remiss in that this week, sorry :)
A Stanley Cup was awarded, ergo it should count.
Indeed. I refuse to not count it!
Latona, I’m so cranky today I don’t even want lunch!
No Lunch = No Points
Btw, someone asked yesterday when was the last time anyone won a Cup at home. Hmmmm. 1994 comes to mind.
S’alright, I feel pointless today anyway :)
Mama,
Thank you for being honest. You get a… SITUATIONAL POINT! WOW!
The point only applies if Sally is leading by less than one-hundo, if we get raptured, or if I feel like it.
Mama,
Anaheim and Carolina both won on home ice. But 1994 was much better.
Nice. A point with a Clause.
Almost as good as a Santa with a Clause.
See what I did there?
oh. Boom!
Boom Bathgate?
See what I did there again?
Can’t Stop. Won’t Stop. Get it.
Doodie
Agree that the odds are against goalies being Cup winners past 35. I’m more making the point that we shouldn’t be dealing in absolutes all the time, like the suggestion that it just can’t be done, so the Rangers have to mortgage everything in the next 5 years. Or that you simply can’t win the Cup with the goalie being your best player.
And Fatso got three shutouts in the 2003 Final because hd barely had a tough shot to save in any of those three games.
Manny,
Don’t tell me how to live my life.
Hey Latona. I will tell you how to live your life. If you want a fight you got one buddy! Do 20 pushups RIGHT NOW. (unless your health doesn’t allow for you to do such strenuous exercises).
spiritual
day
Troll alert.
Lunch: New England Clam Chowder, Maine Lobster Bisque, Boston Baked beans and Boston Creme Pie. Washed down with Sam Adams Summer ale.
Go Bruins! Stanley Cup Champions!
As opposed to Vancouver Cuisine: Blackened BMW, Looted Leftovers, Sloppy Seconds, Sour Grapes, and a tall glass of Whine.
Troll!
Sigh. I’m outta here for a while now. No patience for jackwagons. Thanks for the decimal point Latona :) TA!
Sigh. I’ll hover here for a while now. No other life :)
Good Afternoon, Sally!
Atta boy, Tony!
Is that Carp being a troll?
LOL! Mickelson just a got a double boogey at the Open…

Here’s a tip – don’t feed the trolls…they live on attention and have been known to carry rabies…
Is it secret? Is it safe?
Apparently, NYR, they are also easily fooled by goats.
Um…....Racism? Can someone delete that before I explode?
That went too far. Please ban this infidel.

Ok. Someone please ban this jackassen immediately. Then send him to Vancouver and drop him in the middle of the riots to be beaten mercilessly.
Ni gggggggg a Malhatra Ni gggggggg a lose. Blind Ni ggggggggggg a
Seriously? This is seriously happening to our beloved blog?
You realize Willie O’Ree played for the Bruins, right?
....and Anson Carter.
A few others too.
one mulching coming up!
Hey idiot, go crawl back under that rock of yours, kthx.
So hockey is done. How about some politics. Weiner pulls out? At least he stuck it out a bit!
Olga, you might want to prepare for the aftermath of that meal of yours…sounds painful and messy.
What else, what else, oh, Manny, that Avery video with Talbot is hilarious. That’s our Sean!
Great Weiner jokes!
ILBZO…. Who won our bet? Situation hazy!!!
LIIINNNDAAAAA!
Greetings, Linda!
linda!
For a few moments I thought that I had inadvertantly tuned into Fox and gotten scenes from Libya…but I had tpo pinch myself to make sure that I was actually watching CANADIANS…those peaceful upright, buttter won’t melt in their mouths types.
How could this be? Maybe it;s the proximity of Red China, just across the Pacific? I am still thunderstruck. I’ll have to go tune in the Military channel and watch the peaceful actions of the Red Army going thru Germany.
fran, calling it “Red China” is a tell on your age.
LOL! fran, I thought it was a scene from Greece when I first saw it. It’s unreal! I think you’re onto something with Red China…
WICKYYYYYYYYYY!
Happy thursday afternoon ‘Heads, and if you took vancouver plus looting
YOU WON! That was the most easily predictable reaction… Win or lose! Whata damned shame that there was a large amount of asshats down there last night.
Sorry Latona… Greetings!! How are things going
They’re going, Linda, they’re going. And no need to apologize. How about you?
And fran, “Red China” is the most appropriate thing to call it. I’ll give you a lunch point for it! IN fact, you are now in second place for your anti-communist sentiments.
BENJI BRONK STRIKES AGAIN!
Good call Doodie. A Dead giveaway. It would be like me saying I remember when Kurt Cobain died (April 5, 1994) – I was studying for my Bar Mitzvah.
Good to read Latona. Things here seem to be starting to settle down. Had a medical scare with my daughter which has been taken care of, i am no longer a temp at the job, and i cannot wait until training camp! Missed youse guys
Doodie
You have haphazardly lurched into a discovery of my age….you
alert devil you. It was and is Red China to me even tho there’s no other kind any more. All Benny’s did was let you sleep with your eyes open. ( Do you know how many truckers were killed in those years due to this practice? .. I used no -doze a couple of times but that was pure caffein…tried it and it scared me.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_York_Mets
fran, we all already knew your age from your great stories. “Red China” was just a more subtle hint at your age.
“semi-professional”??? Amazing
Doodie, lol semi-pro. gotta love wiki.
Actually Phil, Thomas was playing less than 50 games a year until 2005 when he played 54 in Finland. Before then, he had only played in 40+ twice, in 2001 and 2003. And look at his AHL/NHL totals since then:
2006: 64 (24 AHL)
2007: 66
2008: 57
2009: 54
2010: 43
2011: 57
Lundqvist, by comparison, in that same time span:
2006: 53
2007: 70
2008: 72
2009: 70
2010: 73
2011: 68
Way to go Canada:
http://www.identifyrioters.com
Hey Fran – What type of planes are they using to bomb Lybia? I think NATO is doing the bombing right? They should have some pretty cool technology. Also…Why don’t they just use drones to bomb?
“but some highly over rated ( Like DiPietro)”
Ha, I don’t think anyone overrates him anymore. I don’t think they rate him at all. “Incomplete.”
You are right CTBlueshirt, regarding the Rangers movement to youth. Some credit Torts with that. Others, like myself, ask the good question, why the hell did it take Slats a DECADE for the light to go on that you build championships from within, not from overpriced, downside career spiral FA signings!
Hey guys! Sorry for the absence been working WAY too much. how are the playoffs going? did we tie up the series with Washington yet?
We won James! We did it! No more mountains to climb!
Thanks fran, for the GT observations. Our own Gump Worsley deserves mention as one of the most talented and colorful goalies who ever lived. And his teammates in New York went miles out of their way to protect him, unmasked as he was, they thought so highly of him.
Re Fran and “Red China,” – “Better Dead Than Red” has become: “Better dead than Red, White, and Blue.”
Is it safe to come out? I have “Net Worth” in my hands (thanks BANJ!) Anyone who wants it next to continue the RR film club, let me know. It’s yours once I watch it…..and thanks to fran for starting the pass along.

Did you know that the Bruins’ triumph completes the championship quartet. Each of the four major pro teams has won titles in the past seven seasons—the Patriots in the 2005 Super Bowl, the Red Sox in 2007, the Celtics in 2008 and now, the Bruins.
I call the above message “Tiki Bait”.

folks
I have donated the film Net Worth to the blog, and to be viewed by all who care to see it. I believe it is a fine look into the origins of the league as we know it today, and a scathing indictment of the owners early treatment of their players. I leave it in Carp’s hands to pass on to all new coming bonesters if they care to see it.
And now I am leaving on a Jet Blue plane for Connecticut where I shall be graduating two of my 6 gorgeous grand daughters from Cheshire High Hamden and McGill University in Montreal, respectively. unfortunately TBW will not be accompanying me due to illness. ( Nothing serious, just debilitating temporarily).
While up in the State of my birth, I’ll try a visit with an old friend
in Bridgeport who is a great man. He is a colleague with whom I worked for many years during the period while we were both insurance investigators. He served in WWII as a seaman on a Destroyer, retired from the Bridgeport Fire Dept as a Captain,
He celebrated his 100th birthday in February and seems to be
in reasonably good health. He told me not long ago that he’d received a pacemaker and gloated about how they had given him a lifetime guarantee on it. Bonjours mes amis!
Boston College also won the Frozen Four tournament, about three years ago. And the Red Sox are definitely* the favorite, from here, to win it all again this year. Only the Phillies and the Yankees have a shot at beating the Red Sox, this year, but the Yankees are old and starting pitching thin, and the Phillies are doing it with mirrors, so far this year.
