Also, in case you missed it, was the great news about Manny Malhotra being cleared to play in the Stanley Cup finals after suffering what originally was feared to have been a life-altering, career-threatening eye injury.
Kind of helps for those on the fence about a rooting interest in the finals, eh?

Great news for Manny and the Canucks and the NHL….I recently read that the vancouver Canucks this year are the statiscally most dominant team in the NHL since the back to back 1977 & 1978 Montreal Canadiens. Most Goals scored…least goals against…best PP…3rd best PK…on and on….By the way, Montreal went on to win the cups in those years, had the best goalie and the MVP…same as Vancouver…very very convincing…makes me predict Vancouver in 5
I think the only cup the bruins will be drinking from are the ones they wear.

Yes, Carp, it’s an excellent story about Boogaard but it’s so sad. Of course his death is tragic but add to that all of the suffering since his last concussion and the loneliness he felt in Manhattan. It makes you just feel like crying.
And at the other end of the spectrum, there’s Manny Maholtra cleared to play. Just WOW!

The Memorial Cup final game is on a 7 eastern time on the NHL Network, for anyone who cares.
Malakhov was a beast when he was mad. But wasn’t mad very often. Could probably have been better than he was given his size, his toughness, his shot and his skill.
Malakhov sounds like the opposite of The Hulk. He could never stay angry, and it didn’t take much to make him happy.
Hope the final goes 7 with lots of OTs…doesn’t matter who wins… I just want to see drama…

Two things: First, it’s easy to say four picks for Stamkos is a great deal, but there’s always a chance those four picks each turn out to be Stamkos, and then how do you feel? Tampa has four uber-studs, and the Rangers have a center who is making $11 million-plus per year. Secondly, there’s no way in hell the Bolts would ever let someone gank Stamkos. He just insured that if there’s a Florida team moved out of the state, it won’t be Tampa. Not at least as long as Stamkos pulls on a jersey. That kid is the real deal, and every bit as talented as the top-10 players in the league.
