Donations in memory of Derek Boogaard

New York, May 17, 2011 – In lieu of flowers, the family of Derek Boogaard requests donations be made to Defending The Blue Line. The Boogaard family would like to see Derek’s legacy live on by supporting military kids and the game he loved.

    Not to put my 2c. in your musical box, but in a Boogie’s case, for me “Elegie” Masne or some why – “To Elise” by Beethoven intractably comes to mind, as a lightful sorrow. Dissonance between this huge man, with obviously even bigger heart, a fighter by trade, full of energy – epitome of life itself, and ugly fact of sudden death in real (not a hockey) sense, just killing me…Incomprehensible. Hope, his so short life was fullest for him in a sense, associated with certain beautiful music for people and a game he stood so tall and loved so much.
