Calling all Boneheads. I need your advice on the last predictions contest … or I can just give first prize to Sally. But since she won the beard contest, I’d prefer to pick a winner for the last round of predictions.
Here’s the dilemma. One entrant picked all four series correctly. He failed to pick any tiebreakers, though.
Seven others had three out of four. Of those seven, nobody had the first tiebreaker (score of Boston-Philly clincher) correct, none had the GWG correct. So it would go to the final tiebreaker, closest to Boston saves.
So, in your opinion, do I declare the 4-0 guy the winner because he was alone at 4-0? Or do I disqualify him for not giving tiebreakers and go with the winner of the last tiebreaker among those who picked three series correctly?
I will await your opinions throughout this thread. Once a new thread goes up the decision will be made. I will add this: Both the guy who was 4-0 with no tiebreakers, and the guy who was 3-1 with the best tiebreaker are loyal regular Boneheads, for what that’s worth.

Larry Brooks had an article put up on the NY Post website that to not draw any conclusions from this but Boogaard had entered the NHLPA drug program with one left to go in the season. This is all so tragic.

As for the cause, my money says it wasn’t drugs, and it had nothing to do with concussions. Given his tremendous size, I would not be at all surprised if he had an undiagnosed cardiomyopathy (similar to Cherepanov), had an arryhtmia and died. The reason people jump on the drugs and concussions bandwagon is because they need a reason why this couldn’t happen to them. But it could.

Why do GM’s in all sports tender players such idiotic long-term contracts, for what figure to be non-productive years? I see Posada is “insulted” that the club wants him to bat ninth, while he is hitting a not too robust .165. He is 39, he can no longer catch nor run, and now he can’t hit. What the hell were the Yankees thinking, besides short-term gain four years ago, in giving in to the demands of Posada’s agent?
This goes double for hockey where careers are even more injury-prone and shorter. Why would you give a player in his early 30’s a four to five year deal? But they do, like there is no end to the money and no end to these athletes having productive career years. Can we learn a lesson here, Rangers management?

The big man from Saskatoon , some say he was over paid ..I say he wasn’t .
