And don’t punch your screen. Or me.
Twice in the past week we’ve had a situation where there’s some computer gibberish (jibberish) on the screen, about 100 lines of it or more. It wasn’t just our Rangers blog that was infected, either. It was all the LoHud blogs except the Yankees, which is on a different server.
So just a word about it. It doesn’t mean we’re closed for business. In both cases this week, you could have scrolled down and found the blog in a split second, and it was completely operational below the gibberish (jibberish).
For future reference, just scroll down.
At least it gave me something to write about today.
Oh, and how about that Philadelphia goaltending?
Happy May Day.

Who’s there?
An update on everybody’s favourite piece of Cooke – apparently he’s a changed man:
http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/11120/1143119-61.stm
Nice of him to turn down a hit on Dan Boyle during the game he got ejected. That would’ve been a long way off the play.
Good morning, ‘heads. It’s May already.
In case you missed it last night, Linda is fine. I (and apparently a few other boneheads) got a word from her last night. She was able to get to some place with power yesterday to get in touch with people. Her place still doesn’t have any power, it’s not expected back until Tuesday.
MickeyM is fine too, I heard from her yesterday. Her area didn’t have much damage.
I love the Rangers, but all of this televised NHL playoff action affords me the time and place to watch all the other NHL teams that are not the Rangers.
Makes me realize how much being a loyal fan completely makes us blind to how good some of these other teams are in terms of depth, star power and goaltending. WOW.
But I do think the future may be bright for the Rangers but we will need a bit more of all three things. (depth, star power and great goaltending). We already potentially have the great goaltending.
Cinco!
De Mayo?
Saw most of the Philly-Bruin game. I think the Flyers could resurrect Bernie Parent and he’d play better then the clowns that they have in goal.
glad to hear linda is ok.
flyers suck
Some interesting observations from LB this morning:
http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/devils/here_the_hitch_3DrSNCvNNZ06zIEF53F5kL
LMAO! Don’t look at it if you’re susceptible to migraines:
http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/blog/puck_daddy/post/Do-not-stare-directly-into-Don-Cherry-8217-s-ne;_ylt=AsnB4TLmf3uxDzmsmCqUc_57vLYF?urn=nhl-wp3632
Completely unbelievable to watch Philadelphia pull a goalie in the 2nd every single game and then watch Pekka Rinne be absolutely amazing. What a difference.
Good to hear that all boneheads are safe and sound! Even if they have to live like the pioneers!
Good morning, Carp!
Mama, I’ll get to work on a coat of arms as soon as I’m done with finals on Friday!
Ilb, thanks for the updates! Glad to hear they’re both okay.
Happy May Day yall! Don’t forget, we keep the system running & we can shut it down!
I mentioned it last night, Rinne is playing the best out of his mind and clearly the best in the league right now.
Ilb – I see you joined icc. I will send you an email and we can arrange a schedule to play the royal game.
Re Brooks:
I said during the draft that the Rangers made a huge mistake in not taking Fowler. I watched his play during the WJC and he was great. Mcilrath was not impressive in his three or four game stint with the Whale this season although, 3-4 games doesn’t mean much. I watched a couple of those games and to me he looked like a nothing more than at best a number 6 dman who drops the gloves and not that successfully. Fowler will be a Star! This will again go down as yet another draft where we as fans will lament for years about who we should have drafted, just like we talk about Zack Parise, Mike Richards, Corry Perry and many more.
Czech – Agreed. Sather strikes again!
McI is still young and green…hopefully it learns quick.
Morning ILB and all!
Looks like arm chair GMs all over the place today thanks to the lb article.
I love how lb is sooo right and on top of things when his articles agree with someone position here, but he is a bus stop accident waiting to happen when it doesn’t. Hilarious!!
Hi Wicky! How are the babies? Where is everybody? I need help procrastinating! Last paper ever!
Screw the paper, Sally! How’s that for procrastination? :-)
Devils want Ken Hitchpenis to be their coach next season.
I was hoping for MacLean again!
Why do today, what you can put off until tomorrow.
sally
they are great thanks for asking. how is everything there in procrastinationville?? What are you going to do with the beard contest prize?? Flaunt it a bit I’m sure!
Yes, it would suck if the devils had a decent coach again!
Good news regarding Linda & MickeyM.
Don Cherry’s jacket is a actually a stereogram.(Magic Eye) If you focus properly you will see a 3D image of wicky playing chess with Kevin Bieksa in an otherwise empty crease.
:P
BTW, Happy May day to all of my former U.S.S.R. friends!!
Re Fowler vs. McIlrath, just saw a comparison of Mac with a young Scott Stevens, from a broadcasting team, on Youtube. Could we live with that? Frankly, Both Mac and Fowler are exciting picks for their respective franchises. Mac was the most feared D in the WHL, at 17. With time and further maturity, we might have something special here.
dde
LMFAO!!
I made a coffee donation when I read that !
ilb & ddeb, the paper is due tomorrow and I have work all day. I already put it off for as long as possible! Anyone know anything about addiction & treatment? I’ll pay you to finish this for me…
Wicky, that depends what the prize is! I’m feeling pretty confident about my chances this year. Has Carp mentioned yet when the pictures will be up?
I was lucky enough to catch Don Cherry’s jacket live on tv the other night. Amazing. We have a bar here that serves a beer called Don Cherry Cherry Wheat that’s actually pretty decent…
sally
I don’t think he has yet!
This is sort of totally off subject, but if each one of us was a current NHL gm, who would we be??
You’re definitely Brian “truculence” Burke, wicky…
and FWIW, I disagree with LB’s article for a couple of reasons. First, he doesn’t give enough credit (IMHO) to the offencive abilities of some of our D men mentioned. Now, I do not think there is a pure offenceve guy among them, but everyone seems to think mcdonut has some pretty good offencive skills that will develop and I think staal has some good offencive instincts and if he was paired with someone else could showcase them even more (we all have seen OPG lost without staal). Staal does have significant offencive ability (again, IMO).
The second thing is more obvious, none of our guys bring any of the crease clearing ability and edge that mcilrath does to the table.
I have to work all day (probably thankfully with all of the arm chair GMs here, myself included), so have a great one folks!
LW
are you sitting down? You sure you are sitting down??
I AGREE WITH YOU!!!
There is no place to sit in GB, wicky…Not after that wedding…
I don’t think Fowler would last as long as MDZ did this year if he played for Torts. And I agree with wicky, both Staal and McDonagh may have more offensive capabilities than we know. Once Torts gets our defensive system down pat, we may see more of them in the offensive zone, IMO
Sally – when the white knight is talking backwards and the red queen is on her head – feed the head…. Feed the head….
LMAO Eddie, I would love to turn that in. This professor’s pretty cool, but not THAT cool. He did mention something about doing “research” in Amsterdam :)
FWIW The defenseman that Kreider beat for his goal yesterday was a 5’ 9”, 34 year old offensive Dman.
It was still nice to see and he surely did some other good things. Prust sayin’
THere’s one D man on Rangers who has already shown pretty good offensive qualities, and probably would even more so with some sustained ice time, and a bit less second guessing.
Gilroy.
How’s everyone? I want to win the beard contest this year. I got nice and burly this time. Wife hated it, kids hated it, mom hated it, but I kept going strong with it. My wife is a big Rangers fan too, but I am almost convinced that she was glad when they were eliminated so I would have to shave.
Congrats on only having one more paper Sally. I remember that feeling.
Nasty, thanks pal! It’s exciting. Won’t be done with everything til Friday unfortunately. And you’ve got some serious competition this time! Between the playoffs and finishing grad school, April was tough on me… but I grew a really magnificent beard. Prepare to be awed!
Good afternoon all! Thanks for the updates on our Southern friends ilb. Sally, congrats, and get going on that coat of arms!!!
Go Sharks!
Thanks Mama! Will do.
A coat of arms!?
Yes, Jimbo, we are going to have an official coat of arms. Thanks to fran’s inadvertent wit, wwe are know officially known as the Order of the Boneheads. So I suggested Sally, with all her artistic talents (not kidding) create us a coat of arms.
You should have seen the bonehead t-shirts she created (and ilb generously funded) for our first Boneheadsapalooza last spring. Tremendously tremendous :)
oy…we are now known…..
Prime example of a rule I’ve never understood right there.
Abdelkader waves his stick around carelessly, high-sticks Couture. No cut. Two minutes.
Ferriero tries to poke check, stick rides up that of Abdelkader, high sticks him. Happens to slightly cut him. Four minutes.
LMAO! They have Darren Pang standing on something, so the camera can see him. Haha!
Slovakia 3-0 down to Germany in the 3rd on home ice in the World Championships. Gaborik probably wants this season to end soon.
Mama and whoever, feel free to suggest things that should be on it.
Poor Gaborik… he probaly has nobody to play with on that Slovakian team…if only they had a playmakin center ;)
Coat of arms? Should definitely have my grin on it ;-}
Didn’t know Heatley was playing until Bertuzzi knocked him down
That German team is on some kind of a roll…they beat Russia and now they are sticking OT to Slovakia! Our poster Mathias is having time of his life right now with German team playing so well
Bertuzzi us such a vagina.
I still don’t understand why he’s playing in this league.
OT= it
iPhone is stupid
Well, good afternoon gang!
A little birdie (ok, ilb) told me you were all worried about me, since I hadn’t been around in a week. I’m fine, no tornado damage here, a little bit of flooding(not in my complex, just in the area) from all the rain, but otherwise I’m A-OK. I just took an unintentional and unmentioned hiatus from being online. Too much carcillo going on in just about everywhere in my online life and needed a break from it all. Sorry to have disappeared so quickly on everyone and made you all worry.
Just read through all of Carp’s posts and a few thoughts.. forgive me if these have been hashed over already…
– Lots of interesting things from Torts on break-up day. I have to think he would like Drury, Avery,Boogaard (and Redden) gone as none of them really fit into the style of play he likes. None of them fit into the style of play he was forced to use this year, either. I’m not a cap-fiend like some of you, so I have no idea how any of that would work, but just in reading between the lines and the tea leaves, that’s the sense I get.
– All the talk of getting more skilled sure points to one B. Richards, eh? As much as I hate to think of the contract he’ll demand and how much Darth will give in, I almost think that’s a near forgone conclusion he’ll be a Ranger on Canada Day.
– Adding another skill player would be very nice as well. I’m not sure who that is (Kreider? Although I think he’s leaning towards going back to BC for another year) or where that player would come from, but it sure would be a welcome addition.
– What Dubinsky said about his contract is nice, but he (and the Rangers) need to back up those words with actions.
– When can RFA’s sign? Just curious and too lazy to look it up. In any case, whenever it is, I thnk Callahan is the first one done.
– I’m aboard the ‘Bring Feds back’ train. Dude was an unsung monster all year long.
– Good to see McD and Stepan at Worlds. The experience can only help them. Same with Kreider.
– Thanks again for all your amazing work this year, Carp. You sir, are a Monster in your own right and that is a GOOD thing.
– First round of the playoffs were fantastic. Best first round I can ever remember. Glad to see the Pens go home (did Skid cry into his chocolate milk?). Tough to see the Hawks go home, though. I really thought the Canucks would fold like a cheap suit, but they really showed some intestinal fortitude in winning Game 7.
– Second round is starting out pretty good, as well. Awesome to see the Preds win in OT last night. Even better to see that goal wiped out for the Craps in Game 1 and for TB to win. Sharks and Wings has been pretty evenly matched. And I lol’d yesterday at the score of the Bruins/Flyers game, although I have a feeling that series will get very nasty at some point.
– Is it October yet?
Good afternoon, Sally! Last paper ever? You graduating? You done? You gonna be here 24.7.365 now?
Hi Mickey!
is’
A belated thank you to Blogmama for her explanation of the origins of a boneheads coat of arms. Very interesting – heraldry and hockey, very neat!
Well, the Ranger logo is already a crest of sorts, with the red , white & blue colors and the diagonal “RANGERS” statement.
Nice snot rockets from Datsyuk.
Mickey, glad you’re back and okay! “What Dubinsky said about his contract is nice, but he (and the Rangers) need to back up those words with actions.” AMEN.
Carp! Last paper is due tomorrow, will be finished with all schoolwork on Friday, and graduating on the 14th! Unfortunately, I won’t be here too often between training for two new part-time jobs and still working the old one. I’ll only have one or two days off in all of May :(
Jimbo, unfortunately the Rangers and the Order of the Boneheads are not the same thing. We need our own coat of arms!
Heya Carp! Been meeting with Mr T yet?
Sally! (HUGS) You’re almost done with school? That is fan-byfuglein-tastic!
It’s raining. AGAIN. I really do need to find directions on building a ark.
Annnnnd, a hatty! WOOT.
Mickey, HUGS! So close.
This last paper is painful! Anyone wanna finish it for me? (Looking at you, Noremry!)
CCCP should be represented on the coat of arms by his planted three.
MickeyM! LMAO! Only a true head would go through what you have, and still post a long Rangers essay. You rock my friend.
Sally – OK! That is undoubtedly true – so, design away the bonehead coat of arms!
There definitely has to be a reference to coat checking on the coat of arms…
This series is far from over regardless of how this game ends..
I think Detroit is the best team in the league at making area passes.
Sharks leading the series at 2-0. Good stuff!
Need Tampa to steal another win!
Aww, thanks Mama! I have lots of thoughts and FEELINGS about this team, so I couldn’t not say anything. ;)
Imagine if the Rangers could pass like the Red Wings? That would be amazing.
Sally, LOL!!! A challenge to your genius….TA all!
a wicky….MickeyM…welcome back head!
I’m back, but alas must leave for a little while, tend to some stuff. Catch ya all laters on.
Carp, there is plenty you can write about. Like how you are really good at driving backwards in your car. Or why Postem isn’t a more popular drink.
what would you do for a Klondike bar?
Poison Sather
That’s a new one, Orr. I’m sure Olga will be very proud of you…
Check out McDonut and Step-On with some Slovakian kids. They look high
http://www.snyrangersblog.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/P4300040.jpg
Johnny, I don’t understand why the tomato never took off as a hand fruit.
Bolts 1-0! Weee!
Boy, that’s a scary looking PP
Jeremy Roenick is even annoying when on mute.
You gotta love JR…none of the other announcers on VS or anywhere else for that matter NEVER criticize referees on the air! JR got balls…
Tied up at 1-1! Booo!
Did the Tampa coach declin the on bench interview? Good for him! Put those VS wackos in their place!
Tampa’s been sloppy in this period…
is this thing on?
LGR
EDZO!
LGR? yeah…Rangers go…golfing :)
Mickey
Weather in the Lou sucks year around!!!
Sally
There has to be a cleared Crease on the crest!!
2-1 Bolts!!
Woooooo. 2-1. Good Marty scores.
Marty St.Louis = Little Monster!
big time player
oh damn! Green the dirty bastard!
Hmmm…that looked familiar..
It did…didn’t it! Green Stepan’d Stamkos lol
Guess Stepan taught him something.
I think last time MAB hit the net with his hard shot was before the lockout.
I can’t believe St. Louis was never drafted. And he doesn’t play like he is almost 36. Which is 10 years senior to anyone around this blog.
FUGG! OvechCANT ties it
MONSTRECHKIN!!
ORR
This time he could ;p
if tamps loses tonite they will look back when they lose series at this goal.
god damn it tampa. get it done in ot or to me the ovi goal turns the whole series around
VINNNNYYY!!!!!
BOLTS WIN!
BOLTS BABY!
Vinnnyyyy! G’night, Bruce
WOOOOOOOOO!! ‘Atta boys, Bolts!!!
OvechCANT! Hahaha!!
Is Neuvirth outplaying the goalie now??
Can the Capitals beat any team in the playoffs other than the New York Rangers…with the referees help??
I told you! Bolts in five!
Craps are overrated, as usual!
Bruins vs Bolts!!
Lecavalier is coming!
Craps are in trouble
Wow!! Major blunder by the Caps!
Now Tampa has to play at home – major disadvantage for them.
Rot in hell, Bruce & Capitals.
(Just kidding!) ;-)
I really thought that when the Bolts allowed Ovie to score in the last minute that it was going to finish them in this game – but they held it together and played with poise!
It’s only 2 games…
It’s gonna be 2-2 when they come back to DC for game 5 ;)
yessssssss tampa
sorry had to pause the game my son woke up and had to put him back to bed.
vinnnnnnnnnnyyyyyyyyyy
Obama is set to make some sort of statement. My people are telling me it has something to do with Brad Richards, and New York.
I’m scared!
Hahaha, Orr, I’m watching Celebrity Apprentice and I don’t want them to cut out the women in the board room for some dumb announcement!
I guess it has to be sommat important if it’s occurring so late at night.
Richards and NYR would be rather important.
Apparently they finally killed Bin Laden. Weeee!
This is a great day for America, if that’s so.
Damn straight
My mother has a trip to Florida this week. She better arrive at the airport very early…
Craps down 2-0 in the series? LOL. Awesome news.
Is it sad that I learned that Bin Laden in supposedly dead from twitter cause I’ve been watching the Mets blow another game in Philly?
Not at all, Mickey. You’re proving how futuristic you are :P
Get with the times!
They’re chanting USA
at CBP. That just seems weird considering they are Philly fans…
LOL, Orr. Either that or it shows just how little I care about politics/world events.
Oh god, everyone’s in live coverage now, that means work’s gonna suck tomorrow.
now that the Rangers season is over looks like Brandon Prust has time to kill terrorists
Me and my friends are playing a game. Every time they say “Osama Bin Laden is dead’ we take a shot.
Lets just say, it’s a bad idea. Because they’ve said it like eighty times now.
ROT IN HELL YOU DIRTY PIG!!
Osama’s Dead? That is great news.
Yay America! Yeah! Fugg Yeah!
Hehehe, good one oleo.
Prust, even with his arm in a sling, can do what the rest of the world can’t, apparently.
LMAO! Funny, Oleo.
Good hobby.
Great day to be American, folks.
I hope he didn’t use Girardi to block any shots. You can’t block those kinds of shots
Rot in hell with a ham under each of your arms, Osama – you Bastard!
Obama is more of an enemy
tomb
Not cool! Not cool at all! Not at this time
USA 1 Bin Laden 0 in OT
Not now, tomb – this isn’t the time for that. This is a great day for justice. I had personal friends killed in those towers.
Osama loses in the shootout!!!
I’d for this to become about politics. This is not a Democratic or Republican issue…this is about AMERICA people!
USA! USA! USA!
That’s why you can’t get into politics on a blog that has nothing to do with politics.
They should feed bin Laden’s body to the hogs, and let them crap his remains all over the pig pen.
That would be the appropriate disposition of his remains.
LOL! The shootout! Skills competition FTW!
It’s a shame they didn’t capture him alive. They could have taken him to Devils games. That’s pretty torturous.
Noah, I feel this is more of a world issue, than just an American issue. When taken with a eye towards the big picture
Having said that, it IS a great day, with this news.
I agree with Izzy – just like in that TV show, Deadwood – lots of folks got fed to those hogs!
Lamoriello might have cajoled him to take the coaching job – we had to kill him!
The people are flipping out in Washington. The Capitals picked a great time to go down 0-2
Bonus baseball is NOT as exciting bonus playoff hockey. Can’s someone just hit a homerun and end this?
Mickey, you’re right…sorry about that…I’m just pumped up.
Boudreau did this on purpose! To deflect attention away from his team.
Hahaha!! Boudreau…..great one, Mickey!
America! Fugg yeah!
Noah, I hear ya on that. No worries.
Haha!! MickeyM, hilarious!!
What a coincidence. Holocaust Memorial Day. Never forget! Today, Let’s also remember many families of innocent Jews that got murdered in Auschwitz and other concentration camps!
Sunday nights are never times of exciting news, so I can just imagine all the front pages being ripped apart in newsrooms across the country. Not to mention all the anchors and reporters being called in to work. Oh, how I don’t envy news editors at this time.
America = Monster
Also, Winning!
Thanks guys! But it was Orr’s comment about how no one cares about Craps in DC right now that made me think of it.
3CP – you’ve got it, buddy – the war in Europe ended in early May of 1945 – and now, all these years later, another monster gets what’s coming to him. Divine intervention!
I would have been chastised and ripped to shreds if I’d said something as stupid, racist, and putrid as “tomb”
Hear, hear CCCP. My father’s parents were killed in gas chambers, and my father suffered through Auschwitz and other camps. R.I.P.
Fug Osama and his minions. That dirt bag orchestrated the killing of thousands and thousands of innocent people.
USA! USA! USA!
Would have been cool if they announced this during a game. You’d definitely hear MSG :P
At least I hope so…
Brilliant, MickeyM! No explanations are necessary! :-D
Glad you are safe and okay after the horrendous weather MickeyM. – Tiki
Thanks again, Jimbo!
Tiki! (huuugs) Thanks! We didn’t get any tornadoes right where I live, so my absence wasn’t weather related. It was more self-imposed. But glad to know you were all worried about me :)
>>Obama is more of an enemy
Wow! Just wow!
Stay classy, tomb! Stay classy!
wow, talk about creepy coincidences… a friend just posted this on fb:
May 1st 1945 Hitler confirmed dead. May 1st 2011, Bin Laden confirmed dead.
Martin St. Louis shouldn’t be allowed to grow a beard; he looks like a “Little Person”.
Now they can play in hell together, just like in South Park.
>>May 1st 1945 Hitler confirmed dead. May 1st 2011, Bin Laden confirmed dead.
May Day! May Day!
Go ORR! USA! USA!
JBytes, and it doesn’t involve Brad May, either (I’ve seen that one History will be made ad ONE too many times)
I wonder if the Royal Wedding had to do anything with his death. Maybe he tried to check it out, and that’s how he was spotted.
In more trivial matters, can the Mets and Phillies just end this game. Feels like it’s been going on forever…
How many innings now, Mickey?
Could you imagine John Amirante’s anthem if the Rangers were still playing?
My goodness.
LMAO @ this tweet
@wyshynski I’m still at Verizon Center writing. When I leave, I expect to see Ewoks dancing
Jimbo, 13th.
That is hysterical, Orr.
Royal Wedding – Hah!!
Yikes! 13 and counting…..sorry, Mickey!
LOL! I do get that vibe. Just like the end of Star Wars VI.
I hope people don’t overdue it though. There’s always a bunch of jackwagons that ruin the fun.
Make that the 14th, Jimbo.
This is the game that will never end, yes it goes on and on my friends…
When you said that the Mets were blowing another game, were they leading this one at any time?
It will only be real if Harrison Ford shows up and snarks his way through the scene.
I hope that there’s an afterlife, because I’d like to think that my friends (I worked at One World Trade Center in the 1980s-1990’s) are looking down and smiling because the guy who planned their murder isn’t alive any more.
Jimbo, 1-0 lead in the 8th. Bullpen coughed it up.
HEY! Mets just took the lead.
I think they are, my friend. For sure.
Too bad he couldn’t have been taken out on 9-11, say 1960.
We didn’t take him alive to spare our PC politicians the cost of sponsoring a tea party for him.
I hope so, Mickey – I really do! Justice is served!
I hope the Mets can hold their lead for you!
Game over. Mets win! YES.
And on that note, I’m going to bed.
Good nite gang!
YAY!!! Good for you, Mickey! Goodnight! Sleep well!
how bout that Vinny L
Mickey M
If Rangers could pass like anyone, it would be great.
I was amazed at how fast the teams were in this playoffs. Bolts are really quick.
And Caps got away with quite a bit of really dirty stuff, what kind of refs do they have nowadays?
So that was one quiet off-day filled. You’ve set the bar pretty high to come up with something to top that now, Carp…
