There are going to be days like this. Momma said, momma said.
I got nothin’.
Except this. Somebody suggested the other night that we do some guest reviews of playoff games. I’m up for that, I guess. I can’t do reviews every night, but might be able to do a few later in certain series, depending on situations.
Anybody want to do one? If so, let me know at rcarpini@lohud.com. And if so, let me know when, or what game, or what series you’d like to do.
It’s going to be a long off-season. They always are. So some days I’m just going to give you a blank canvas for your whacky hockey conversations. We won’t shut down like the other sites, though.
See youse.

*I have a few questions.
Mostly about terminology.
What do you mean when you say you’ve been “Carped”?
And for the not too bright like me, how about a run thru on other abbreviations that you use , and the knicknames that you have for certain players. ( I get some of them but not all.) For instance, I know what you mean when you use Carcillo as an adjective. But many of the others leave me hi and dry. Thanks.
Short talk has never been one of my strong points.
Welcome to the off season..that will be a bright one, I guess:)
Five minutes ago I got a phone call from a girl inviting me to a belly dance performance and additionally to a orient buffet dinner…
I need to apologize but you guys will probably be without me tonight as I know there are some of you definitely be delighted about my absence….:)
Lets see I will probaby be able to squeeze in the USA-Austria game from the worlds at 10.15 am your time and the matchup between Bayern-Schalke at around 12.30 pm your time before leaving to the act of the night…:)
“Carped”
Usually seen as “You carped me” or “I’ve been carped.” It means that you spent a long time creating a 1000 word blog comment/disertation, only to discover that Carp posted a new entry and no one will ever read your wisdom.
“Carcillo” or “cooke”
Usually seen as “that piece of carcillo…”
It’s a deragatory term used to replace most 4-letter words not allowed on the blog. And it usually describes a dirty player. So the next time u want to say a player is “a piece of #*!$” just use carcillo or cooke and carp won’t ban you.
yeah getting carped can be very painful..:)
It happened many times and it was once very painful to me as I hadn´t even realized that Carp had swung the axe for a new entry and the posts became very rarely and I was surprised to see only one post in eight minutes right in front of a game…but nobody informed me about the fact so it took me almost twenty five minutes to find out that the discussion continued on the next entry….:)
I thought about applying for compensation but after I contacted my lawyer it was decided that the case would be closed for insignficance :)
Sometimes i wonder what ima gonna do there aint no cure for the summertime blues
Sorry that´s the reason I am not with you tonight :)

Maybe we can get some off season talk going on getting Rick Nash over to NYC.
He is the answer. Columbus needs D and could be interested in saving some dough.
Dubinsky, Del Zotto, and another prospect for stud Nash anyone?
This one as well:)
http://www.shalymar.com/galerie.html
How can yu guys be interested in the Rangers any more :)
Lets’ Go USA!
On Versus now
Matthias I’m a little disappointed in your effort. You’re not quite ready for prime time.
:)
truth to be told I got a little bit hockey weary right now and probababy was carped too often :)
“Maybe we can get some off season talk going on getting Rick Nash over to NYC.”
Here we go…
Yeah, we’ll put him on a line with the Sedins after we trade with Vancouver.
U-S-A!!!
This is especially for my friend CCCP ;) huge grin :)

(sung to the tune of That’s Amore)
If it’s brown in a pile
You can smell for a mile
That’s carcillo
McMonster! On the ice baby!
This is all very adismal
This is my first look at Krieder. Enjoying it.
Eddie you’re freakin’ life is A-Dismal!!!!!!!!!
Just kidding buddy. I am off to breakfast!
Like a big open book
come have a look
a filthy piece of Cooke
The sharks ot goal was adismal
Into this world we’re born, krieder’s on the storm
Ok – I didn’t leave yet. What a chance for Stepan, eh?
Hey – The Pogues! Nice use of The Pogues in a commercial. Good job Subaru.
KRIEDER! GOAL!!!!
kreider!!!!!!
Let’s go U-S-A! Mixin’ it up with the Austrians. Nice.
That is an Assist for Stepan.
Points for Rangers players: 2
Nice!!! Kreider!!! USA!!!
lol I thought Step made a bad decision to pass rather than shoot
Looks like Stepan spent too much time with the Rangers…..missing too many opportunities. Sigh.
dde – I felt like it was the Rangers when I was yelling “Shoot you idiot!” and then it worked out.
krieder looks sharp on his skates. kid has speed
Manny – yeah, I gave a uuhhHaaaay! myself
BTW -excellent art review yesterday, I believe you may have found your true calling
As you guys know we have a big rivalry with the Austrians ” we call them the Schluchktenkacker ;(....
Can you guys give them an execution a dozen of goals double digits ;)
Krieder looks pretty good for a kid that needs some more seasoning in college or the AHL. Right armchair g.m.’s? LOL!
Does anyone have a link for the USA game? It would be greatly appreciated. Unless it’s on NHL Network or something.
Latona…try this one, its seems to be slavic language ;)
http://www.iihf.com/channels-11/iihf-world-championship-wc11/news/news-singleview-2011/article/we-were-overconfident.html?tx_ttnewsbackPid=4926&cHash=d48c2bfddf
No latona that link doesnt work, but i have checked also livetv.ru and all links are just listed under 50 so its not good for some livestreaming without pay ;)
I doubt Kreider plays in the NHL, he’ll probably just live off endorsement deals after being inducted directly to the HOF.
no its working if you staying with full screen mode…
Matthias,
I thank you kindly.
Stepan looks fantastic.
Latona, the game is on Vs.
CTO, I’m not so sure anyone has said Kreider needs more seasoning (at least I haven’t), just that he looks intent on staying in school. It seems like a decision that he is making with his family.
I will never fault someone for wanting to better themselves through education.
So I am off to the belly dancers..!!!!!!!!!!!!!
wish everybody a happy night including the man who carped me very often :)
ddebened-
Ah, an armchair gm has spoken. Tell us genius, who else needs some “seasoning”?
does anybody besides me think Kreider might be using his stay-in-school decision as a negotiating tool?
Anyone know where I can get a box score/rosters for the games? The IIHF website is worthless.
Carp, I doubt it. I think he is already in line for near a max rookie deal.
Doodie,
Very cool. Thanks.
I’m not really going to be upset either way if Kreider stays/signs a contract.
Dan Carcillo leveraged his deal out of the Flyers by threatening to go to Harvard.
Czech
Your La-Z-Boy must be on stilts or something.
Doodie-
I wasn’t referring to you. But you know what I am talking about. We get a bunch of these geniuses that come on this blog to opine about this kid and that kid without ever having watched them play. Then they argue about the various aspects of a prospects game that need to be refined in platitudes without ever having seen them play.
Clearly, Krieder is not only ready, but is needed by the Rangers. I also wouldn’t be so sure about his going back to school just yet.
And Sean Avery famously was in eight grade for at least three years.
Carp
One of the other beat reporters made the same point you did.
ddebened-
I just go but what I see.
CTO, judging by Torts’ comments after the Beanpot, it seems like it is a decision Kreider is making with his family and that they (Kreider & fam) like him going to school.
I won’t be surprised either way. It’s a lot of money to pass up, but if he is intent on finishing, he is intent on finishing.
Love that McDonagh is wearing #2. If he develops anywhere near a prior Ranger who wore #2 for the USA, then I will be ecstatic.
doodie
if mcdonagh is leetch geez i would be in heaven
This game is flying.
Love that Stepan is wearing number 9, but at first I thought it was 8. I would have bought his jersey if it was 8.
Unfinished thought there. 8 was my number. Not too many forwards with 8, although the ones who did wear it were great: Neely, Selanne, Recchi, Vickers, Poddubny, Sanderson (had a couple of great years), and now best of all, Brandon Prust.
Anyone think the 2/9 McDonagh/Stepan was intentional for Leetch and Graves?
I think Step and Wheeler look pretty good together.
How about trying to pry him out of hockey obscurity in Atlanta/Winnipeg?
Parise is pretty good as an analyst. Is it too much to hope he just retires now and does TV work instead?
This was a good warmup for our boys. Bring on the real competition now.
Krieder looks like about the third-best player on the Rangers, right now, and I can’t think of who the first two are.
Oh, yes, Kreider and Kryder are the other two.
It’s apparent now that Carcillo is on all of your dreck lists, and I have often wondered what he does or did that makes him so despised. I took to watching for him in particular during these playoffs, to see some of his nastiness, but he disappointed me. In fact he was scarcely noticeable. He finally got around to scoring a goal, but it was a routine, slap that joined a number of others by team mates and went little noticed. But i have come to the conclusion that he’s not a very good skater, and he is also not a very good fighter. In fact I wonder how he made it to the bigs. One thing that he does well is sneer and glower. He on occasion makes a menacing advance toward a player, but quickly lets himself be dissuaded from action by team mates. I have come to the conclusion that he is regarded as a conversation piece around the league but that is the limit of his abilities.
That is, perhaps, as many words as anyone ever used to talk about Carcillo without using the word byfuglien, Fran. Heck, I now think that is as many words as anyone ever used to talk about him, period.
Go ahead – refresh, refresh, refresh – you know you want to !
Even though they played against Austria, Kreider again looks as ready as anyone on the USA team who already plays in NHL. If not better than some of them. And I agree with Doodie- first rounders usually get max or near-max NHL EL contracts. It may be simply a family decision to stay in college.
Stepan looked great, McDonagh showed that he has plenty of offensive abilities….Good game.
Doodie – you missed Malik in your list.
Czech –
My point, sarcastically made was:
You come on here spewing bombastically after Kreider had one nice period against Austria.
You acted like that one period justified your opinion that Kreider is ready for the NHL.
He’s not proven to be ready until he plays well at that level IMO.
That said, he looks ready to be given a shot.
USA all the way! Glad to hear Step-On, McDonut, and Cryder looked so good.
Orr,
They were definitely ready to play. This experience is going to be very beneficial for them, as they’re surrounded by younger players and so the playing time should be pretty fair.
Step-on, Matteau
shoulda been linemates
Once they start playing good teams, it will be better!
Even playing the lower-end teams is good though, cause in those games it allows you to test your skill level and be more creative.
fran, he’s always been a piece of carcillo, but he earned the status here when he fought Gaborik. It wasn’t so much that he fought him … Gaborik did drop the gloves … but that he sought out Gaborik during a scrum, and afterwards admitted he was “licking my chops” once he saw the opportunity to fight Gaborik.
The piece of carcillo.
Then he wouldn’t go near Boogaard when given the opportunity this season, to nobody’s surprise.
The piece of carcillo.
Though I do think cooke is now more of a piece of carcillo. Hence a piece of cooke.
I think Linda has all of the explanations for all the other nicknames, etc. ... once she recovers from the tornadoes. Hope she’s OK.
I’d take Carcillo over Avery. There’s not many agitators that are as tough as he is. I’d love to have him on our 4th line.
Also, fran, carped was coined when I began putting up the “new post” warnings to end threads. It’s actual definition: The last person to comment before the “new post” goes up has been carped.
And I forget to tell people this one often enough, but I should because we always have new Boneheads joining:
The origin of Boneheads: One of the less-popular sites was trying to mooch our audience away by posting comments. He/she suggested we leave here and go there because they had all the Rangers news and none of the boneheaded discussion. I replied “but I like the boneheads.” And somebody else proudly said, “I’m a Bonehead.” Before you knew it, we had a small army of Boneheads.
Nothing from Linda, btw. Including the cell phone. The power must be still down..
LMAO @ he/she…
Good afternoon all! Carp, when did I say that ? :)
This upcoming series with Boston/Philly makes me want to boudreau. Why can’t both of them lose?
Carp, you forgot byfuglien and hartnell, which to you newbies means, um, gee, how do you say that nicely? Oh yeah, fug…..
I’m sure Orr has a few things to say about this one:
http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/jets/assault_earth_sWjqY87sIZ2SwAIhs6Lc3I
Even though it’s not pronounced this way I still have to say “by-foo-glee-en” to myself in order to spell it correctly.
Any chance “byfuglien” can be added to spell check, Carp?
:)
Nothing from Linda’s home phone either, straight to a voice mail box. Hopefully, it’s just a power outage.
Bwahaha!!
The Jets are pathetic! They draft a criminal! They pay a criminal with butterfingers! And Dirty Sanchez is banging a 16 year old goal.
Don’t get me started!
Rangers are so well behaved compared to all the other New York teams. Or are better at keeping things secret! :P
ddeb, ha! I pronounce it by-fug-lee-en…..
I’m looking forward to seeing Philly play musical chairs with their goalies again. I wonder who will see this time.
we’
I wonder what Orr has to say about Patriots’ 3rd round pick Ryan Mallett. Has a history of drug use, “Ryan Mallett Got Drunk & Arrested.” Just like that scum Len Bias.
eh, if you all are gonna talk football, I am outta here :) TA!
It’s not called the National Felons League for nothing.
Tiki, according to some internet sites, the power in Huntsville isn’t expected until Tuesday at best. I used to have her daughter’s email, but I must’ve deleted it…
And that former Patriots’ Randy Moss, stalking and physically abusing women. Used his automobile to bump a female police officer. Man, those Patriots are murderous criminals.
I’m just waiting for Tiki to defend the guy and accuse us of not being loyal New Yorkers for calling him a criminal.
If you need her daughter’s email address, I may still have it. The power news is good news, IMO. That at least is a positive explanation. Any word on MickeyM?
LW3H, I was listing forwards. Trust me, I was/am very aware of Malik. It was a tough time for #8s everywhere.
I’m already sorry I brought that article up. Should’ve known better…
Yes, Tiki, if you have it, email it to me please:
ilb2001@nyp.org
Thanks
lol. when will you learn… shakes head
It would be great if their was a website that had a list of every player in the NFL that has been arrested, and details of their arrest.
Also a website of every NBA player who knocked up a girl before getting drafted.
Orr, ask, and ye shall receive!
http://www.signonsandiego.com/nfl/arrests-database/
Yeah, Ilb, I’m shocked you brought that up!
Orr, it might be easier to have a website of NFL players who have NOT been arrested…
why would kreider stay in school? to get his degree. he can go back after hockey many guys do it ask Richter.
Kreider is not going to improve as much in college as he can in the nhl or AHL…
the rangers need him BAD>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Good afternoon, Carp!
Of course, that only goes back to 2001, but a decade of arrests is still pretty good.
LOL! I love the internet, Doodie!
LMAO! There’s literally an arrest every week
LOL! My favorite is Perrish Cox, arrested for sexual assault. Of course he was :P
stuart, he is his own man. If he wants to be educated now, let him.
As I said above, I will never fault a player for wanting to improve himself through education.
And while he is likely to develop more quickly in the pros, I think we can all agree that more time in college won’t HURT his development, as in, he won’t regress by playing more in college.
Is Kreider NHL Ready?
http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog/Julie-Robenhymer/Is-Kreider-NHL-Ready-When-Will-He-Sign—-My-Answers-Here/99/33763
There’s also a site listing all accused or confessed steroid users in MLB (not sure how comprehensive it is):
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_York_Yankees
I hate baseball. They might as well just let everyone take performance enhancers to level the playing field, seeing as how half the league is doing it.
You’re right, Doodie, staying in College wont hurt him.
If Kreider can score 50 goals, win faceoffs, QB the PP, and turn Avery into a goal scorer, then we need him.
LMAO LW
dde, thanks for the link, but any website that automatically plays a video with sound automatically gets the ol’ CTRL+W treatment from me. Unless it’s a site where that is the purpose of it. But for a blog or a news site, it’s just adismal!
Sydney Crosby’s setback is disheartening. Look, I hate the penguins just as much as any ranger fan, but beating the Penguins WITH Crosby in the lineup is fantastic. I don’t want to see any player lose time or have his life altered by injury. I know many of you go on tilt with the Crobsy updates, but I counter that many of you are super sensitive and need to calm the BYFUGLIEN down on most issues anyhows. God knows how some of you go nuts over 3 minutes of bad play by our hometown Rangers. There is no more optimistic person here with regards to our team (with the exception of my buddy Greg zzzzz! Miss ya, kid!), so I ain’t feeling bad for the penguins. A little humanity goes a long way in this wayward too negative world of ours. I love you all. That is all.
look at Subban fake out Lupol with the helmet deke… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0LNfBqPlp-0&feature=related Evander Kane, where are you when we need you!?
Sorry Billy, yeah I hate that. My volume was set so low I didn’t notice or I would have given a heads up.
Well said Mao. Now, speaking of Crosby… having humanity, or respect of humankind is one thing. Feeling bad for Crosby or especially the Penguins is another entirely. Is a concussion a serious injury not to be joked about? Yes. Should anyone feel bad personally for Crosby and/or his team? In my opinion, no. Crosby lacks sportsmanship, and plays for a team that tanked in order to draft him in the first place, just like they did to get Mario. Does that mean he deserves to have a serious injury? No. I’m also of the opinion that my otherwise great sense of sympathy is rather lacking in this department. I will however agree that it’s exponentially more satisfying to defeat the Pens with him in the lineup.
Developing…
dde, it’s cool. I wasn’t taking a knock at you, it’s just I was sitting here enjoying some streaming 80’s music (WTB?!) and then there was this weird drone of a car commercial in the background. What a silly way to present information. Besides, I’d rather read what all the boneheads think about it anyways.
off-season hat trick?
Bruins 1-0 already!
Go Bahston!
Good afternoon, Sally!
Prucha and Jagr playing on the same line for the Czech Republic against the legend that is Girts Ankipans and his crack Latvia squadron.
thnx billy!
Are we all Tampa Bay fans for as long as they are in? GOOOOOO BOLTS! Mini-mad marty st louis has always been one of my fave players. Vinny Lecav is all class. And they beat the ‘canes! GOOO BOLTS!
There are a couple of ways we can help tornado victims. It’s still pretty bad:
http://mashable.com/2011/04/30/seven-ways-to-help-tornado-victims/
Geez louise..scott gomez at 8mill a year…BWHAHAHAA!! Thank the Lord for giving us the Mcdonut!!
I have now been completely educated in all departments of the order of the Bone.
You all donated your time and knowledge to enlighten me, and now I am beginning to understand by your efforts much of what has been going on over my head. Maybe it’s an age, or even a generational thing, but I do enjoy reading what you all have to say, and now that you have enlightened me, I’ll enjoy it even more by understanding what is going on. Thanks mucho folks. And carry on.
Carcillo!
Flys tie it up – Briere shows up Drury again!
Nathan Horton: Good at OT winners, very baaad at defensive zone coverage.
lmao….who would have thought it? ( I hesitate to guess at what lmfao means.)
I’m slowly picking up on some other terms also.
fran, I still think you need Linda to explain Fankist, Flavah, Pillow Hands, PeeWee, etc., when she gets her electricity back.
fran, that one means laughing my something off, you can guess what. and roflmao means rolling on the floor laughing one’s something off … IMO (in my opinion). FWIW (for what it’s worth). I’m sure the Boneheads can fill us in on thousands more.
Pillow hands, eh? Don’t think I’ve seen that one used yet….
hhahaaa! i consider myself a bonehead of some decent duration, yet I did not know the definition!
Byfuglien that other blog!!! They are cretins!!
Ya know, Chara is a very big guy, and he has a powerful shot, but other than breaking Cally’s hand with a shot, does he ever get one in on goal during a PP? I’ve not seen any of his point shots hit the net, and he obviously does not score on their PP…..
who is going to sweden in october? Lady Mao and myself are tentative, but thinking about giving it a whirl.
Order of the Bone! fran unwittingly coined a great new awesome term!!!!! Sally, you need to draw us up a coat of arms for the new order!!!
while the Bernank brilliantly devalued the dollar much to the dismay of the rest of the world, and so as not to be outdone by fellow currency manipulators from the land of my namesake, china, it isn’t entirely conducive to a trip to lands of .6/1 currency ratios..you feel me, sons?
Mao, I’ve said, I have tix (thank you Princess Krisy) but getting there is still a ?
However, how awesome would it be to have a boneheads fest overseas!!!
2-1 Bruins! Weee!
“I have now been completely educated in all departments of the order of the Bone”
That’s what she said.
Man, Boucher is playing like garbage.
Also, Chara looks like a shadow of himself.
“educated in all departments of the order of the Bone.”
Paris Hilton has a Masters degree
You said exactly what I was thinking, Doodie! ;-P
Paris did very well in the oral comprehension part of the exam…
LOL! Funny, Jimbo.
Pillow Hands=Brashear.
I’m going to Stockholm, FWIW OMG LOL.
Thanks, Carp – that’s an old one, obviously…..
Thanks, Orr!
I thought Sweden does not participate in the Euro, SEK-USD FX = 6.04:1
Purchasing price parity however makes Sweden extremely expensive.
yeah, Mama, Order of the bone in the lands of the successful socialist society of sweden! SWEET!
When the lights are off, I look like like a shadow of myself.
Also, abeldaker is another bonehead term. To be honest, I forget what that stands for (hartnell? carcillo?) and it’s usually only used by Carp, but I love it anyway….
yes, they are excluded from eurozone…thus my comments about dollar weakness being amazingly beneficial to our nation’s industrial efforts, but shunning our divine right to vacation and spend exorbitant amounts of money in foreign lands at prior ridiculous ratios. Also, why I praised the Bernank and offered a rounded .6/1 ratio. Which is your ratio in reverse! OMG!! like playing black sabbath records backwards!!! what do they say??? HIRE SATHER, then TRADE GOMEZ for various beaded necklaces and Ryan the Stud Mcdonagh!
Thank heavens for F5….cant find refresh button on new Firefox system…
Blogmama, you haven’t heard from MickeyM or Laurel, have you?
baldy idiot McGuire. the Sharks have won 8 of the last 10 vs Det, including 5 of the last 6 in the playoffs. and he says Det has no reason to worry. they have shown nothing in the last 2 years vs San Jose to suggest they can beat them in a series.
I meant Linda…..
I must have Laurel on the mind – I used to live in a place that was called Laurel Hill…..
I toggles between the ‘stop loading page’ button (X) and refresh, mama
it’s probably still loading/stuck on X because of waseka
I hope after Abdelkader gets laid, he says “you’ve been abdelkaded”
3-1 Bruins!
Bahston all the way!
Boucher is just terrible.
I went 7 for 8 in the first round, but I think there’s a real possibility that I go 0 for 4 this time.
How many laurels is that bag lady?
Laurel means you say you are leaving with a phrase like “ta” or something and then keep posting!
Philthy looks discombobulated!
Nothing like a good open ice hit.
I thought that was a “wicky”??
So is kreider ready or not? I thought he was staying in school!
Orr
Don’t drink that koolaid. They were laurels waaaayyy before someone tried to make them wickys!
There must be some chick/chicks that he doesn’t want to leave behind. Twins, perhaps?
Who used “carped” first? Seems like it’s been around a looooong time!
lol Wicky I called mama Columbo way back because of all her false exits – good thing for me the Sunday Edition wasn’t laying around
“Just one more thing”
Jimbo, it’s OK, many have people have me on their mind….
ddeb, um, I’ll learn eventually…
Timothy Thomas = Vezina Monster
Thanks,Mama – I’m sure that’s true!
Refs trying to get the Flys back in the game.
It’s a Philadelphia conspiracy.
The refs are clearly trying to screw Boston out of the game.
mama – if there an X button by the address bar, just click it twice to reload/refresh
the first click will stop the page from loading and the button will change to a refresh button
the second click will reload/refresh
(the twitter widget seems to be the issue)
4-1! Bwahaha!
Hahahaha!! BOO-Shay!!!
That looked just like Stepan’s goal.
BOB looks nervous! He must be praying that Boo-Shay doesn’t give up another goal, or else he’ll be forced to endure more embarrassment.
I love Philly goaltending. It’s ironic. They draft a couple of superstars/superstars in the making, but they can’t find a goalie to save their lives. I love it!!
5-1! Weeeeeee!
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOsh!!!
Are you all ready for musical chairs??? Bwaha!
Breaking News
Robert Esche’s helicopter just landed in Philly. He’s ready to play, pending a drug test.
I don’t know why they abandoned Bobrovsky so quickly in the first round. He played great in game 1, had a lousy game 2, and instead of coming back for game 3, they just played goaltender musical chairs, without giving Bobrovsky another chance. He is the guy that brought you there, keep going with him.
Van Riemsdyk has been a beast for the past month. Makes me so upset that he and Giroux will be torturing us for the next decade or so.
JUST NEED TO SHOUT A LITTLE NORWAY JUST BEAT SWEDEN! YEAH!!!
Yeah! If not for the lottery BS, the Flyers would be torturing us with Kane right now.
Not only is the Bruin PP ineffectual, but it’s sloppy defensively – they should decline the penalties, too…
It’s a good day to be a bandwagon Boston fan.
Boston vs Tampa East Final would be perfection! A win/win!
Congrats, Krisy – who was playing in goal for Sweden? Not Hank, I hope!
Did Zuccarello go to the Worlds?
Maybe the “Monster”?
Don’t know about Zook – he was injured, wasn’t he?
Yeah, he has a broken hand. He’s not playing anything, including himself :P
@ Jimbo
Erik Ersberg (KHL) in goal for Sweden.
Was amazing, seeing at we didn’t have zucca, thoresen or holøs and our first goalie got hurt yesterday. We won in shootout!
LMAO @ this “History Answers The Call/Boo-Shay” commercial. He certainly has answered the call! The call to come back to the bench!
Swedish journalist before the game: World Cup premiere against Norway will be a laughing match where Sweden can go backwards the whole match. And still win. But if Norway beats Sweden today, I promise to go in lusekofta rest of the World Cup. Although it is a bit over 30 degrees Celsius in the sun. It will not happen.
Oh.. Henrik wasn’t allowed to play for Sweden, Rangers said NO!!!
When did Zucc break his hand? How did I miss that?
Orr, I was thinking the same thing.
They made the mistake of abandoning Bobrovsky in the first place.
and the goalie carousel in Philly continues! Love it!
Is Tyler Seguin still in the AHL, or is he injured? I haven’t seen him in the playoffs.
Doodie
http://www.nyrangersblog.com/2011-articles/april/camera-hole-causes-zuccarello-broken-hand.html
Orr – maybe with the other hand!?
Krisy
thank you! Never heard of Ersbergdo you know if he ever played in the NHL?Looks like that Swedish journalist will be eating his words – or his newspaper’s sports page!
Doodie, his hand got caught in that hole in the glass for the cameras. Flukey! I think he’s out 4-6 weeks.
Yeah, there’s always that option, but maybe it just wont be the same for him
lusekofta =?? Translation?
Glad that Henrik isn’t playing – bad news for Sweden, but good news for Ranger fans!
Google translate says “sweaters”
@Jimbo.. He was in NHL and La Kings http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erik_Ersberg
Won KHL this year with Salavat!
he he.. It’s a thick norwegian sweater.. Very WARM!!!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lusekofte
Rangers wouldn’t let Henrik play but was okay with Gaborik playing???
The refs really helping out the Flyers. I knew it’s a conspiracy!
Seguin never got sent to the AHL (pretty sure he can’t be) – he’s just been a healthy scratch all playoffs.
5-3
LW, if we can send Del Z to the AHL, then they should be able to. They’re both on entry level deals.
how much time left ?
Wow! That was Richards’ first goal of the playoffs. Butt-Chin had more goals than him in less games. How sad!
Five mins, Tony
6-3 Bruins!
Thanks, Krisy! A sweater – OK!
All right! Despite the refs calling tons of infractions on the B’s, they score!
Crazy about MZA.
I don’t care what anybody says – it sounds to my ears like Doc is rooting for the Flys….
Jimbo,
Doc used to work for the Flyers.
Nice right hand by Lucic! Right to Renaldo’s jaw. Good stuff!
Are you sure he’s not a Penguins fan??
I know for a fact he’s a Pirates fan. It would just be weird for him to root for the Flyers over the Pens, and the Pirates over the Phillies.
Hi, Latona – I know that he used to work for them – but the other night, the discussion came up about Doc’s rooting interests, and it basically was declaled that he has doesn’t play favorites.
Today, it sounds like he is firmly in the camp of the home team – to my ears, anyway!
7-3! Bwaha!
Lucky Seven!! Have a nice trip home, Flys fans!
Pirates have fans?
LOL! Boo-Shay looks like he’s going to cry and vomit.
A Pirates fan!? Jeez, that’s a lost cause…
Yeah, CT, just ask Johnny Depp.
I can’t type to save my life – “declared”.
Doc jokes aboot the Pirates every now and then during a Devils game.
Well, get Leighton out of mothballs, Lavi – say, Ray Emery isn’t playing anymore – maybe they can hire him to play a few games!?
He does!? Pirates must remind him of the Devils – neither team can draw flies to their games….
Pirates have a nice stadium at least.
Orr
It’s not as simple as being on an entry-level deal. Basically, while a player has junior eligibility left, unless he’s played something like four years in junior already, he can’t be sent to the AHL.
I don’t think MDZ could’ve been sent to the minors last year, for example.
Jimbo,
I feel like Doc always slightly gets behind the home team for national broadcasts. I don’t really have an issue with it.
You do, Latona? Maybe so – I don’t remember him sounding very “homerish” when the Rangers play at home during NBC games, though…...maybe it’s just because I try to tune him out since he does the Devils games.
Doc also worked for the Rangers on the radio before the Flyers.
Ah, I see, LW.
I haven’t been impressed with him this season. But, he’s only 19, I think. He still has a shyte load of time.
I get that same vibe, Latona. He’s just a true professional.
I haven’t seen a game from Pirate-land in a long time – back in the day they had really good teams, but now their owners don’t have the money to bring in big name players, so they just are out of the running for a playoff position within a few weeks of the season’s opening games..
I remember Emrick doing Ranger games, but I can’t recall when it was – long time ago, though…
I remember hearing that all the Pirates fans made an agreement to walk out of the stadium during one inning.
Is that true?? That’s pretty funny.
It would explain why the Devils fans are never at the game. They must have all agreed to leave after the tailgating ended.
Emrick was with the Rangers back in the 80’s. He would work for Marv Albert when Marv was doing all of his other games.
Yeah, Orr, he really is one of the great voices of American hockey. The Sam Rosen of yore should be in that category, along with Bob Miller. I’m sure there’s plenty more, those are just three I thought of off the top of my head.
80’s? OK, Mike, that sounds believable – a vast wasteland of years for a Ranger fan.
I remember Emrick with a lot more hair, though….?
A lot of non-hockey fans give Emrick a ton of praise for his work. That says it all. He’s just good for the game, in that area.
I always enjoyed Marv Albert doing the Ranger games. Kenny sounds remarkably like his dad..
Yeah, I guess in the 80’s, Emrick looked more like an old man’s penis, than a teenagers penis.
As opposed to Darren Pang, who looks like a newborn penis.
Once again, let those images sink in…..
Wait, Marv Albert is Kenny Albert’s dad?? I thought they were brothers!
Oy! Orr, do we have to!?
I hear you Jimbo. Mark Pavelich, Reijo Ruotsalainen and the smurfs just couldn’t cut it. Although they beat the Flyers in the playoffs a couple times.
No, Kenny is his son! Steve Albert was Marv’s brother – I don’t know where he is now, though. He used to do Icelander games..
LOL! I’m not sure you have a say in the matter.
I thought they were brothers also.
Ahh! I never knew that. I wonder if he’s a biter, like his old man.
hard to keep track of these Alberts !
Yeah, Mike those were very bad years – Icelanders winning all those cups, and then Edmonton. It wasn’t a good time for Ranger fans…..I had to work with a lot of Islander fans, and it was murder.
I think that there was another Albert brother, too – Al Albert. Again, don’t know if he’s still in the biz..
LOL! From Wiki
“Albert became the focus of a media frenzy in 1997, when he went on trial for felony charges of forcible sodomy. A 42-year-old woman who had had a 10-year sexual relationship with him accused Albert of calling her to his room to fix his fax machine only to see him wearing a belt and women’s underwear. He then threw her on a bed at the Ritz-Carlton in Pentagon City, Virginia, biting her on the back 15 times, sodomizing her, and forcing her to perform oral sex on him. She also claimed that he would force her to “face sit” him for periods of up to 45 minutes. Albert charged that the woman was seeking revenge as he was ending their relationship and “she couldn’t imagine life without him”.[citation needed] After DNA tests proved that the bite marks were his, he pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault and battery charges, while the sodomy charge was dropped.[9][10] Albert was given a 12-month suspended sentence”
Ha! I never knew the full details. Now I do!
Thanks a lot Orr. It’s going to take the rest of the weekend to shed that mental image!
Jeez!!! Sounds like Marv must have been a fun date back in the day!! Holy mackerel! I never heard the whole story, just a few of the details…
I don’t think that those images are erasable, Mike – I think they’re burned in for the duration….
Crikeys! I’m surprised that Kenny hasn’t changed his name.
That sounds more like Sid the skid’s bio than Marv’s.
LOL! Which image, the three penis’ of death or Marv Albert in chick’s undies??
All of the above, Orr
Marv in the chick’s undies singing show-tunes is the more disturbing, though!
“Oh, the Humanity!”
Definitely!
How aboot Glen Sather in chick’s undies, signing Richards to a seven year deal??
How about Sather in Dolan’s undies….Oh wait, that’s reality.
Need bleach – to expunge images from mind…..
so does the top of the page remind anyone of the “shining”?
LOL! I just noticed that.
All work, and no play makes Carp…....well…Carp :P
orr
LMFAO!!
you guys know that you can scroll down from all that crap up on top, right?

I’m stuck at a lake comedy club in the city because my wife’s friend forgot to make reservations at the good one. Enjoy your nights boneheads!
I must say, Pekka Rinne is really good. Let’s see if he stays consistent throughout his career.
Carp
For about 2 minutes i didn’t know that you could scroll down and i almost gave up refreshing the blog until i saw the scroll down bar to my right haha
Never trust the wife’s friend.
That’s on page 24 of the “Man” book.
It’s funny how the Preds always find these goalies that are good enough to get them to the playoffs. Vokoun, Mason, Ellis, and Rinne. Obviously Rinne is the best of the bunch, it seems. Even their backup, Lindback looked pretty good this season.
burrows baby!!!!
LINDA is safe and unharmed!!
Glad to hear Linda’s safe.
Somebody should tell the Preds that they have to at least one goal to win a game. This zero goal thing isn’t going to work!
Wow! I just saw one of the coolest knockouts in this UFC fight. So cool!!!
man, i can’t even have the “scoop” on Linda being safe.
ah, carcillo!!!
;-)
she replied to me in facebook.
good for you LT56 for breaking the news
and good for Linda
and sad for those who haven’t been so lucky.
btw, who is LT56?
someone under a new name?
just got back from one job and working
on stuff for another.
g’night assens!
be well!
play nice!
orr
who got knocked out?
yay linda!
thanks lt56
night jpg
Machida knocked out Couture. He used the “Karate Kid Kick” right to his jaw, and he dropped like a sack of shyte.
Good news on Linda!
Preds aren’t getting anywhere with the Canucks…..futility.
I’m not giving up on the Preds…but, I’m sort of giving up on them…..
They just don’t have the firepower to win. This is just like Craps/NYR, except there’s two world class goalies.
LOL! This fighter has a huge bump on his head. It’s the size of Darren Pang.
Yeah, Orr – this Preds team seems to be easy for Luongo to handle, unlike how things were with the Hawks.
There was their chance. A nice breakaway, and he shoots wide.
Yeah – I think Luongo is in their heads now. They need a “dirty” goal just to prove to themselves that he can be beaten.
Finally! 1-1
There! A dirty goal!
Awesome! Go Preds!
Well, they got to OT.
That is such a soft goal for Luongo…lol
btw, good to hear Linda is ok!
i really like this nashville team….Go Preds
linda – glad to hear you are ok…that was some monster storm….
Wow! Pecker made a fuggin awesome save!
HOLY carcillo what a save
This Rinne guy is lights-out great tonight!
preds’ rinne may be the best goalie in the world…
If they don’t win this game after that save, then they deserve to get swept.
jimbo – i wish the rangers skated with as much speed as either of these 2 teams…
Orr, thanks for the feed, but I read your post too late. Oh well GSP wins again!!! And very happy to hear that Linda is ok. It’s a good thing she had a good supply of wine coolers on hand “for emergencies.”
orr – as insane as Van. is playing, hecka pecka can steal this series at any point
thanks orr for the knock out update!!
Rinne is unbelievable…go nucks!!
double OT time
Lou Gone Oh is not impressive in net
didn’t know brouwer for the hawks was a RFA and kopecky was an UFA…they might be worth a look.
pouliot of mtl also might be worth a look to me, but I think he would not mix well with torts.
just musing here folks as 2OT begins!!
Lordy!! What saves!
This game could take awhile.
Nashville’s goalie is imPEKKAble tonight! :)
This could be a quadruple OT game!
Eddie, I wish they were able to skate like this, too – it seems like our guys got very accustomed to playing a full game and a 5 minute OT, and then going into the shootout – when they went to a longer OT period in the playoffs, they seemed to be totally drained of energy.
LETS GO PREEEEEEEEDS!!!!!
Holy Crap!!!!! They finally scored a “regular” goal!!!
Huge win for the Preds
It didn’t look good heading into the final minute! But, Pecker saved them.
Woo Preds!
LMAO @ that awkward handshake/fist bump fail by the assistant coaches!!
Wow. Pekka Rinne. Holy crap I wish I got to watch more of this guy throughout the season.
Nashville looked like they were on their heels that whole period, I feel like Luongo should have had that one
Wicky – yes. Kopecky is worth some attention.
They should carry the goalie off the ice on their shoulders!
oy vey Preds won! Good for them
If the playoffs had anything to do with the Vezina voting, then Pecker would probably win.
And Hank would have been nominated.
Man i wish my Domino’s pizza would get here already….....
Love to see the Preds making a series of this.
No, Orr, Hank wouldn’t have been nominated, because Neuvirth CLEARLY outplayed him!
Kreider just scored for US against Austria!
Game is VS right now
Wow! They just showed Kreider score his goal against Austria on Versus – he looked real good on that play.
Oh yeah, what the fugg was I thinking.
Noy-Vair clearly was the better goalie. His saves were so much better. Especially that one save where a Ranger shot it right into his stomach. Tough!
Yea he scored AGAIN. I can’t watch this game twice. I feel too pathetic.
Oh this game was on before? I didnt know… I spent all day studying at the Kingsborough College library… That college got some beautiful Russian girls studying very hard ;)
The most difficult part of Neuvirth’s job, Orr, was when he had to get himself in position to watch the shot sail wide. All that turning could have resulted in a stiff neck!
Team USA is mad young! That’s really cool
Sounds awesome CCCP! I wasn’t criticizing you…..just saying that my Saturday was so bad I watched that game LIVE. I guess that’s also a critique of my Friday night.
no doubt, Manny
I wish I was home watching hockey all day instate of studying 4 chapters of nutrition and human development crap… Though, I did manage to watch some of the Biston-Flyers game online
That game put me in a great mood watching Flyers give up tons of goals lol
instate = instead
Watch it, 3CP – those gals are trouble! ; P
Can you believe it!? They pull a goalie every single game. I can’t believe this system has any potential to be successful.
Jimbo
Those are the kinds of trouble I wouldn’t mind getting “into”...if you know what I mean ;)
Billybleedsblue: “Pittsburgh tanked to be able to draft Crosby.” Hey, we should all be so smart. It’s called a loophole, and if they are smarter than other teams when it comes to beating the system, they deserve the reward they get for that. The system needs to be changed, but in the meantime smart organizations will exploit it. Brains are just about everything in the business world. You have the smarts or you don’t. Hell, the Rangers lost out on Lindros, young Lindros, in arbitration after he had agreed to become a Ranger. Who’s fault is that? All Rangers management has ever done is screw things up, with few exceptions.
I hear ya, 3CP – but you’re a married guy, right? Gotta be careful! ; P
3CP, you’re living in Brooklyn, correct? Are you near Brighton Beach?
I am not married…yet ;)
I live around Ocean Pkway and Kings Highway…not too far from Brighton
Oh! Sorry, 3CP – well, go for it, then – but don’t let it interfere with your studies! ;D
OK on OP & Kings Hwy – I only asked because I’ve been down in Brighton Beach a few times, and it’s an experience for a guy like me – all those Russian and Ukrainian restaurants – someday I’ll get the huevos to try some of the food!
I’ve been to a few free concerts in Asser Levy Park, too….
That IIHF ice surface looks enormous! I know a standard NHL rink size is 200×85 feet, but what are the dimensions of the international ice surfaces?
Jimbo
“Russian Restaurant” is quite the experience…you should definitely try it some time… And if you have any Russian speaking friends then it’s even better…you should make them take and show you how Russkis get down with 6+ course meals, booze, endless toast and loud cheesy music from the past lol
Hmm…don’t think I have any Russian speaking friends nowadays. Me and my girlfriend had a Ukrainian woman who used to stay with the GF’s mom, and we went to Brighton Beach once or twice to transfer money to her relatives back home – that was quite an experience for two New York born folks who speak no Russian or Ukrainian!
My GF is Jewish, and she has roots in Ukraine, but so long ago – before WW2.
I might not survive all the booze and multiple-course meals with all those toasts! ; D
Jimbo, they’re 200×98. The Olympics were played on 200×85, however, because GM Place, or “Canada Hockey Place” as it was betokened, couldn’t accommodate the larger rink as it was constructed for NHL-duties.
Thanks, Latona – so, it’s the same length as a North American rink, but 13 feet wider – it looked a LOT bigger in that game today! Looked very large!
Jimbo
When Rangers win the cup, we all go to Russian restaurant for wild celebration!
In a mean time, you should try get some Russian food experience going
Start with this place on avenue U between east 8 and 9 called “Stolovaya” (eatery)
Go for Siberian pelmeni (Russian style meat ravioli) “Selyodka pod Shouboy” ,(which literally means “Herring under fur coat”) and red borch! That should bring you up to speed ;)
http://www.russianyellowpages.com/business/Russian_Stolovaya
OK, 3CP – that sounds like a deal! Hopefully, we’ll live long enough to see it happen!
We walked down the avenue there, and people were trying to drag us into several different restaurants, but since we knew NOTHING about Russian cuisine, we decided not to go inside.
I have heard about pelmeni, though – seems like every ethnic group has their version of “ravioli”, or meat-stuffed pasta dumplings. I’m trying to picture a herring under a fur coat, but that’s a strange vision! : D
Thank you for the restaurant suggestion – “Stolovaya” – sounds like Stolichnya, the vodka!
Someone mentioned Chara and his shooting.
I’ve been watching him in this series and there is something odd about him that I can’t quite put my finger on. His movements seem always very deliberate, and at a regular speed, I can’t recall him putting on a spurt, and although he carries the puck well, I never saw any clever plays. He seldom takes hard slap shots on goal, but his wristers are pretty fast. I wondered if he is slow in
reacting to situations. Just an overall impression I’ve picked up.
