More post-game quotes

Brandon Dubinsky:

“Without a doubt, it hurts. No question about it. That being said, we can’t build a time machine and go back. We’ve got to try and find a way and get a big win in their building and get the series back on our side. Obviously we’ve got to win a game in their building to win the series, so we have a great opportunity on Saturday.”

“I don’t think we made it any easier on ourselves (in the third period). We were on our heels a little bit, and a couple of turnovers there. That hurts. But this isn’t a time to point fingers. It isn’t a time to get down. Obviously this is a tough loss, but we’ve got to find a way to be resilient and bounce back and prepare for a Game 5 in their building. And hopefully we can learn from what they did to us a couple of years ago and try to get the same thing done.”

“I don’t think we got carried away (with the 3-0 lead and the building electric). It’s tough to say. I don’t have all the answers right now. We didn’t get it done in the third and a bad break cost us the game in overtime. It’s tough. We’ve got to make sure we play a 60-minute hockey game, especially against that team. They’ve got some good hockey players and some dangerous guys.”

Marc Staal:

“We were confident coming into tonight that we were going to tie the series up. It didn’t happen that way, but, I mean, we have to do our best to get by it and try to get one in Wash.”

“We’ve been good all year long in third periods. Just a few mistakes and they were in the back of our net and they got back into the game. I thought we battled hard, we played hard in overtime, we just weren’t able to bury chances. They got one on us.”

“We had some (chances). I thought we had a couple of good chances on our power play. Obviously we would have liked to have the puck a little more. I thought they controlled the puck for the most part, especially in the first overtime. But double-overtime, playoffs, that’s just the way it is. You’ve got to bury your chances and hope they don’t get one.”

“We knew after the second that it wasn’t over. They have a talented group up front. I thought they turned it up a little bit, we kind of sat back, it cost us the lead.”

On the cross-check by Backstrom in double-OT:

“I thought it was a pretty hard cross check, but the ref saw it differently I guess.”

Brian Boyle:

“I’m not looking for three in a row. We’re looking for one. We just want to win Game 5. Tonight will be tough to be positive. We’re going to dwell on it, and I think that’s part of it. If you’re not a little upset about what happened there’s something wrong with you.”

“We need to learn to be able to play with that (lead and the atmosphere at the Garden). If we have them in a hole we need to be able to shut them down and close the door. Obviously we didn’t do that.”

  2. Looking forward to your opinion Carp, you seem to be the most balanced out of any of these Rangers pundits out there. Thanks for your hard work.

    in the meantime…

  3. the non-call on the crosscheck, and how about that idiot ref Devorski getting in Dubi’s way so that he could not take it to the net
