Marian Gaborik:
“We have to stick together and focus on this one last game. Whatever happened last game, it happened. We don’t want to look back to it. We really just want to focus on this last game. It’s do-or-die, so we’re going to approach it that way and everybody’s going to be ready.”
On the fact that it’s the Devils:
“Yeah, whoever it is. Obviously everybody wants to play good against us and knock us out of the playoff picture. That’s understandable. But we have to focus on ourselves, focus on our game, and make sure we play like we’ve played most of this season—with a lot of energy, a lot of grind, and that’s how we’re going to do it tomorrow.”
He did not want to talk about being benched after his horrific defensive play (or lack thereof) against Atlanta.
Brandon Prust:
“We’ve got to worry about ourselves now and just worry about our game and make sure we get two points. That’s all we can do now.”
“We’re putting (Thursday) behind us. All we’re thinking about is tomorrow’s game, about 24 hours from now. Everything’s in the past. We’ve got one game and we’ve got to do our thing.”
On the Devils:
“I don’t think we care who it is tomorrow, but being the Devils, there’s that rivalry. I don’t think it matters. Our blood should be pumping.”
I asked him, and just about everybody, if he will watch the games tonight:
“Yeah, I’ll probably check it out … I’ll be cheering for Atlanta, that’s for sure. I’m sure everybody’s going to be either ticker-watching or watching the game. It’s out of our control. We’ve got to basically worry about our two points tomorrow.”
“We’ve got to be loose tomorrow. You know, this is it. We can’t lose. So we’ve got to throw everything at them. We’ve got to stay patient at the same time. We’ve got to play our game, play the way that’s made us successful and we’ll be alright.”
”(Patience against the Devils) is something we’ve always talked about. You can’t get frustrated even if you go down. Sometimes it seems we get frustrated and impatient and try to do too much. We’ve got to … we might win that game 1-0; it might be in the last seconds that we score. We’ve got to stay with it.”
Chris Drury:
“Going back to what I said a week ago. No predictions still. Keep getting stronger every day and hope to help if they need me.”
On tomorrow:
“I don’t think that’s really even in the equation. I skated hard today and the whole goal of skating is to have a good 12-24 hours after. We’ve had that. So, I just want a good rest of the day and see how it feels tomorrow.”
Is it beyond the realm of possibility that he plays tomorrow?
“Again, it’s day to day. I don’t know a better way to say it.”
Brandon Dubinsky:
On having short memories, and if that can really be done:
“Absolutely. I wouldn’t be as confident and upbeat as I am today if I was still thinking about last night’s game, because last night I was pretty pissed off. So, yeah, last night’s gone. We’re ready to go tomorrow, so it’s exciting.”
“I will not watch the game. Obviously, I will check the scores to see what happens, but it won’t be on my television.”
“We’ve played really well in games after we haven’t played our best and I expect nothing less tomorrow. We had a great day today. We had a great practice and I think the guys are together and the guys are confident and we’ll be ready.”
On the Devils:
“No. Obviously, games against them are always tough. But we have to approach it like Game 7. That’s what it is for us. We have to win the game to get into the playoffs, so I don’t care if it’s them or the Vancouver Canucks or New York Islanders. We’ve just got to be ready to go right from the get-go and play our game for 60 minutes.”
On Game 82 being a motivator:
“Yeah, I mean, obviously we’ve got to have that fire. We’ve got to come in with that urgency and that fire. The feeling after that game, I can still feel it. Obviously it was a year ago, but you don’t forget the way that feels. So we’ve got to make sure we take care of ourselves. And we’re pretty confident we’re going to get help from some other teams.”
On how long that feeling lingered:
“I don’t know if you can get over it. Every time you miss the playoffs you miss an opportunity to play for the Stanley Cup. You look at the team we lost against (Philly) and where they ended up (Stanley Cup final). I think that our guys in here should be thinking about them as us. You know, here’s an opportunity to get in tomorrow, the last game of the season. And we’re pretty confident in the group of guys we have in here. By the time we win tomorrow we’ll have won 44 games and beaten some of the best teams in the league pretty consistently, so hopefully we’ve just got to get the job done tomorrow and we can carry some of that confidence into the playoffs.”
Henrik Lundqvist:
I asked how they can deal with the anxiety of the games tonight being out of their hands:
“It’s going to be hard to ignore it. But I think the best way is to—actually I can only speak for myself; I think everybody’s is different and some guys might watch the games, some guys might do something completely different just to save energy and think about tomorrow. Me personally, I will definitely think about the game tomorrow already tonight. It’s an early game.”
“I don’t think I’m going to watch Carolina. I’ll probably check the result, but … I’ll probably stay away from hockey tonight just to re-energize and before I go to bed I’ll probably think about tomorrow and what I need to do.
“I will probably check the score before I go to bed.”
Can they use Game 82 from last year tomorrow?
“I don’t know. I ‘m going to go into the game tomorrow … I talked about it in Philly (Sunday)—just be in the moment and focus on the game and what I have to do, and not so much about consequences and other teams or what happens if we win or lose. You just have to focus on your job and to be able to do that you have to really be in the moment and break it down to, for a player, just the next shift, and for me, stop the next shot. That’s it.”
“Being there, you know what you can improve. You know what was good and how you approach the game. But, like I said, it comes down to how you block everything out. To be able to play your best you really need to be focused on your job and nothing else. Not what’s going on around you or the consequences. So, blocking everything out, that’s what I’m going to try to do.
“But going down the stretch, I think that the mind is the biggest part, how you approach games, how you think, how you make decisions. Physically everybody’s good. It’s just your head, your thoughts. That’s what you need to be able to control.”
On expecting the Devils’ best:
“Yeah. Well, it’s two games left for them, and every team you play now, they’re going to play as hard as they can. If you’re in, you obviously want to make the playoffs. If you’re not you want to end the season in a good way. And for them, playing us here when we have a lot to play for, it’s going to add excitement for them as well. We have to be ready. There’s nothing to save for.”
“We have to see this as a Game 7, playoffs. If we don’t get it done tomorrow it probably will be over, so we don’t room for any bad games now. We just have to go out there and do our best. We can’t put too much pressure on ourselves. We just have to go out and enjoy it and see it as an exciting game and a great challenge. That’s usually when you play your best.”

GOFirst (to take his pants off)
Thanks for the updates Carp. They’re saying all the right things. Let’s hope things roll our way.
OK – 2nd to take his pants off !!
Carp – are you getting paid per post today?
Another first for The Voice.
per word, Manny (being Manny).
Butt-Chin = Teddy Bear
Chris, when will you be adding Cheese Lover’s to the menu?
?Again, it?s day to day. I don?t know a better way to say it.?
Chris Drury:
“Going back to what I said a week ago. No predictions still. Keep getting stronger every day and hope to help if they need me.”
****
IF!? Come on Pizza Pants – they need you to get out there and play your best and LEAD like a Captain!
I can’t wait to start watching the Knicks in the playoffs. Could be a quick defeat :P
MSG should never allow a Red Bull and Knick at the Garden at the same time!
The bottom line is that this team, as it stands, is inconsistent … and therefore mediocre.
You can’t have a guy like Gaborik score 20 goals (in concentration) and expect the club to be anything but average. If he a) scores 35+ and b) staggers his goals, then this team is likely is solidly in 6th place.
And can you imagine if Lundqvist hadn’t played lights out or had gotten injured? Then we would be battling for 10th place.
I agree that our effort throughout the year has covered up the lack of talent and lack of speed. We have some slow guys out there – and that molasses-ness becomes more evident as the season wears on. We also can’t score (apart from 2-3 guys).
Saying all that, I will rule this season unsuccessful if we don’t make the playoffs. Teams are supposed to evolve, etc, but get better as time goes on. We missed the playoffs last year (sad, but understandable) ... we should NOT miss it this year, particularly as we had control of our destiny.
All the players have to do to get themselves ready for tomorrow is read Pizza Pants’s quotes – it’s making my blood boil. My blood probably looks like his best “bold” tomato sauce right now.
10th place? We’d be battling for 13th place :P
GO THRASHERS!!!!! SAVE MY MARRAIGE!!!!!
Repost:
Tony, if all this talk about “no pants” is true. You better wear sunscreen!
Anyone who thinks that the Hurricanes is going to lose tonight is drunk.
Sorry to be negative about Pizza Pants guys but SHEESH – can he lead!? Come on! I can’t believe he said “if” they need me. The “if” is if the team gets some help and makes the playoffs somehow. Then they might need him. Not in a do-or-die situation game 82 must win game.
Get Messier out there. Please.
Plan on divorcing NYR, John? Did you sign a prenup?
Thx for the advice Marji,
Manny, haven’t you heard? He gives great advice in the locker room!!
It goes a little something like this…
Drury: Step, the key is, only cook the bacon for a minute or two, then you stuff it inside the crust, and by the time the pie is cooked to perfection, the bacon will be so crispy on the inside, each bite will be heavenly
Step-On: What about faceoffs, and and leadership?
Drury: Never mind that. Look, the key is, you need to be confident in your ingredients. Only then will you able to run a successful pizza joint. Are you listening to me?
Step-On: Yeah, I have to go, Glee is coming on
It actually sounds delicious ORR!! Can I order online?
“I will not my knee injury ruin 2-for-1 pie night at the restaurant.”
Drury: “Look, the key is, focus everything on some childhood winning achievement or something good that happened earlier in your career that you didn’t really have much to do with. Then everyone will start throwing around the phrase “natural winner” or “natural leader.” From there, you just find the dumbest GM you can, and you’re living on easy street.”
I won’t let this ruin my Passover.

Look at these great pictures of Capt. Pizza Pants hard at work!
Good job Doodie – stay strong and remember that oppression! Stupid Pharoah. Let my people go!
Coincidentally, April 10 is “Golfer’s Day”
http://www.holidayinsights.com/other/golfersday.htm
Next training camp…
Kreider: Hey, Dru, how do you think I’m doing so far?
Drury: Look kid, it all comes down to big moments, have I told you about the little league world series I won?
Krieder: yes, yesterday, it was an inspiring story….
Drury: Lemme tell you it again, but in different words.
Krieder: ..[i should have stayed in College]...
What the fugg? That pizza looks plastic.
I can’t believe the Sabres are one point from clinching a playoff spot, and they did it with Enroth in net.
Makes me want to vomit.
Miller will be fresh for the playoffs.
Ohhh, natural hatty!
“Actions speak louder than words ” Boys. Say what you want …just back it up or shut up.
Yea – that pizza does not look good. Did he steal it from a Dave & Busters?
Looks like Chuck E Cheese pizza
It looks like plastic vomit.
Yea – I wonder if he has a ball bin in there for the kiddies? Get it … Ball bin?
“and they did it with Enroth in net. ”
No amount of Gomez-ing could save us this year.
Yeah, like in Jackass when they ate omelette ingredients, and vomited it into a pan, and made an omelette out of it.
That’s how it looks!
Miller will be fresh for the playoffs. – or rusty
Screw Miller – This isn’t the Olympics. I don’t hold him dear to my heart anymore.
Yeah, screw him and his freaky facial bone structure.
Yea – The Man is a freak! Is he even human? Can we get that tested?
“Sorry to be negative about Pizza Pants guys but SHEESH – can he lead”’’
Manny, my take on it is that Torts doesn’t want him any more. Have you heared anything from Torts where he says anything like, “It would be nice if he could come back, but we can’t rush it.”
I haven’t. All I’ve heard from Torts is “there is no timetable.”
I think Drury is done as a Ranger.
WASEKA!
After all we have endured following our Rangers, it pales in comparison to what Tiki is enduring right now. The only thing we should be concerned about right now is his health.
WASEKA
C.C.Charlie – That would be good news to me. I would respect Torts even more. I hope you are right.
I guess there is no update on Tiki. Did I miss anything?
I know about the brain injury and in critical condition. Just AWFUL.
Wait REALLY!? I did not see an update that he was in such bad shape. Oh my. That is just terrible. Tiki!
Yes, Thoughts are with Tiki
Whatever their dastardly motives might really be (to lure us into hope?), the Flyers will win tonight in Buff. No reason why the Sabres fans shouldn’t join in our anxiety epidemic. Besides they’ll enjoy a must-win in Columbus far more than a meaningless pre-playoff tune-up.
Go Filthy!
Buffalo is 7-1-2 in their last 10
Flyers are 3-4-3 in their last 10
I wouldn’t count on them too much :P
wait… what happened to Tiki?
I hope Lord of the Rink scores a hat trick tomorrow in a 3-0 NYR win! That would be great!!!
Doodie: Someone said (2 posts ago – Blogmama) that Tiki was in a car accident last night.
Hobbit Wizard should dedicate his performance to Tiki and score a hat trick.
I’d also settle for Lord of the Dance, Ruslan Fedotenko.
Tell me he doesn’t look like Feds:
http://www.nbc.com/superstars-of-dance/images/bios/michael-flatley.jpg
Doodie – That is extra creepy. They do look a lot alike.
If that news wasn’t presented to us by Laurel, I would have thought it was Tiki making it up.
Terrible news though.
The Creepy part is that you knew who Lord of the Dance was….
LOL! Doodie, that’s creepy! Hilarious!
The Flyers, of course, are a strong team no matter their recent slump. They are under increasing pressure to get their act together before the playoffs start. They will be solid and energized tonight. Their special evil is not reserved for the Rangers alone!
The Sabres have been motivated and hot, but they’re still only a marginal qualifier for a reason. If Filthy beats them in regulation tonight, Buff faces the wonderful dilemma of who to start in goal in Columbus. Let the head games begin.
I still think Atlanta can scratch out a point if they withstand the Canes in the first. One good defensive period for the Thrashers and the game will get very entertaining.
I can’t take credit for the comparison. My brother’s friend is the originator.
Thank him for us please.
6th place is officially out of the question, correct?
Yup. Habs clinched it.
Tiki in a car accident ?
When ? this is the first I’m hearing about it.
Is he OK ?
Well, it’s out of the question for us, but if they win their last game, then they officially clinch it.
If they lose in regulation, and Sabs win their last two, then they clinch 6th
He injured his brain and is in critical condition Tony.
i will check back to rangers report at 10pm tonight. you guys by your reactions will break the news to me.
i cant put myself through the torture of watching car game even though i have center ice package.
no tv for me tonight.
me my wife and my 8 week old son sitting around tonight. they may go into effect full time starting wednesday.
We all know the guys can say the right things, but thats what it is just talk. And if they think anyone believes they will not be watching the Carolina game. They are a tad naive, it’s their bread and butter i’m sure their watching.
Good luck Eric. I know this is tough for you as it is for all of us. All the best in your evening. I hope you can find it in yourself to find you wife and son interesting. (no offense please – that was a joke – I go through the same).
Drury—-
my words for him—”I will not let an important game spoil my rehab schedule”. I still get paid either way.”hockeymon, I read a good line today.
Boylesaid, “we’re pissed off…(yadda, yadda, yadda)
and somebody wrote, “It’s good to see we’re on the same page.”
For those of you that appreciate Carp and his calling me “Manny being Manny”
Apparently Manny Ramirez is just being Manny and is in trouble with the MLB drug program. Rather than continue the program – Manny has decided to RETIRE. This is what I am hearing from the Boston feed of the Red Szwx v. Yanks game.
@ MLB BREAKING: Manny Ramirez informs MLB he is retiring. MLB recently notified Manny of an issue under MLB’s drug prevention & treatment program.
Apparently, because of a a drug violation, he was given a 100-game suspension and decided to retire, rather than serve it! LOL!
Oh it’s ‘roids!? I thought it was marijuana. Just a guess on my part.
what if Atl goes with Mason in goal? Baldy got lit up in Nashville in his previous game, and got yanked early. if Pavelec does not start, then the Trashers are saying eff u Rangers.
“me my wife and my 8 week old son sitting around tonight. they may go into effect full time starting wednesday.”
Better reintroduce yourself then. Don’t want things to be awkward.
Canes have won their last 5 games in Atl. not a good sign
Can we all just accept that they will not make the playoffs and move on with our lives?
The Canes? You got it Doodie!
Doodie – NO !!
atl – all that means is Atl is due !
I am just using reverse karma. being a negative nancy, so that when the Rangers make it, I will be pleasantly surprised, and it will be sweeter. if we expect it, then it loses it’s luster
The Thrashers are on a streak. They are not going to want it to end.
Poor Tiki , I had no idea. Anybody know where he is ? I’d like to send him a get well card.
Filthy wins in Buff. Thrashers get a pride point at home against the Canes and that big Byfugler feller breaks some Carolina ankle, collar bone, uvula, etc.
Hey – remember that time that the Rangers came back from 0-3 to beat the Bruins 5-3? That was awesome. What a highlight of the season.
What’s wrong with me.. I realized that I had family obligations tomorrow at 2, which would mean I wouldn’t be able to see the game. So, in my Ranger stupidity, I immediately rescheduled everything. Now I’ll be witnessing the torture live.
Why do I do this to myself?
love how Nash says he will play for canada in the upcoming tourney, but he won’t play against Buff to help the Rangers
Thoughts with Tiki.
Coach Klein: [it’s half-time at the Bourbon Bowl and they’re in the locker room] Anybody got an idea?
[Silence]
Derek Wallace: Hey, remember the time Bobby tackled the referee by mistake?
[Everybody chuckles]
Lyle Robideaux: Yeah, that was pretty funny. How ‘bout the time Bobby tackled the guy from Louisville, and threw him into the stands?
[Everybody laughs]
Guy Grenouille: Y’all remember the time he intercepted the ball and his pants fell off, and he ran for the touchdown bare ass[en]?
[Everybody laughs]
Farmer Fran: Remember the time Bobby Boucher…
[Begins to mumble in his southern drawl, and everybody stares at him]
Bobby Boucher: [Bobby shows up in the locker room by surprise] Remember the time Bobby Boucher showed up at halftime and the Mud Dogs won the Bourbon Bowl do ya?
[Everybody starts cheering and shouting]
more empty words and cliches/ gaborik how about have some balls and playing with some guts and effort???
gabby gets no grief the guy is suppose to be the go to guy on this team. 10 games without a goal, 10 games…......APB where is maryann????
You can talk all you want about our 3G problem (OPG, gabby, gilroy), but you are nuts if you think feds is any sort of problem at all for this team (he is probably one of the least worries of this team). He should be resigned without hesitation!!
TIKI!!!!!!
I am outta here. Good luck tomorrow. Thoughts and wishes of wellness for Tiki – Hope to see a very good update on that front later.
See you assens tomorrow. I will be at Warren 77 for the game unless my Fiance disallows it.
I just ran into a couple of Devs fans (losers) here at work. They are salivating at the chance to knock us out of the playoffs…
Our heroes in Blue better be ready tomorrow….
feds is 32 with 11 goals signing him is a waste. they need to get younger and faster, his best days are gone. if he takes $1 mill for 1 year maybe else feds has been a good player but not exactly a difference maker of any kind…..
Thoughts and prayers with Tiki…awful news. I lost a very, very close family member in a car accident and got into a nasty one myself two weeks ago that luckily just left me a little sore (my Versa, on the other hand, was a little crumpled)
Prayin’ for ya, Tiki.
As for the quotes from today, it’s all Nuke LaLoosh to me. Drury continues to show why he’s absolutely the worst captain the Rangers have had in decades, he couldn’t motivate a fly to land on a turd.
Gaborik knows he sucks. Knows he doesn’t have it in him to battle or do anything of consequence in a big game.
Dubinsky needs to look at the game film of himself: When he plays tough and drives to the net, he looks like an all-star. When he tries to make fancy passes, he looks like Alexander Daigle.
But, enough of all that…luckily by the time I’m finished driving upstate tonight the Carolina-Atlanta game will be over and I’ll know right away what the Rangers are looking at for tomorrow.
Even though I still feel in my bones they’re gonna lose to the Debbies. And be lucky to score a goal.
I’m not only a glass half empty kind of Rangers fan…I’d like to smash the glass and use the shards to cut the laces in Gaborik’s skates so we won’t have to watch ANOTHER overpaid putz dog it on the ice in a Rangers uniform.
On that note…I LOVE YOU GUYS!!! I’m so happy to have found this wall and my fellow neurotic, crazed, bi-polar, live-with-every-victory, die-with-every-defeat Blueshirt fans…
Can’t believe we’ve only got one game to go. :-(
Tiki – hope you are ok…..I am very calm and peaceful almost eerily so regarding our boys chances…I really think they are going to make the playoffs….
The 45 people that attend the game tonight in Atlanta will cheer so loud, it will seem like 49 people…that kind of fan support will sink the canes’ chances…
Is there a way to get in touch with tike?...I feel horrible….real life has a way of putting things in perspective…
Nobody can fuggin drive in NY.
The victims are just like Lundqvist, they do everything that they’re supposed to, but somebody else fuggs them up!
MSG gets 18,200 that looks like 12,800 and sounds like 8,200.
I wish it was 7:07 already!!ddebened, you should visit the Coyote arena.
Gets 8,200 looks like 2,800, sounds like 28
But that’s not the World Most Overrated Arena filled with the Greatest Fans in the World! :[
And I’m sure the Coyotes requiring pants turns away some folks
hahahaha – it’s AZ, too hot for pants
I know…NY is filled with morons one the road…I have road rages issues because of it…
I was actually almost in an accident this morning on my way to work….some damn old ladie that didn’t how to drive stopped short during a routine right turn and our bumpers nearly hit….dumb aasen…
yes, that’s lady with an “ie”
on*, not one
Cheap empty netter.
Let’s Go Trashers!
so ok…if carolina goes 1-1 next 2 games and we win Saturday, are we still in?
i will be back on here around 10 or so to see the score. i cant bear to watch these games.
u guys are my voice
go thrash go flyers
Anyone got links to the games of interest?
Let’s Go Black Hawks!!!!!!!!!!!
FIRE SATHER!
Gillies beating up Godard. How embarrassing.
Some interesting games for the scoreboard watchers…
Canes -thrashers for the worried Ranger Fan
Hawks-Detroit for the Cup Champion Fans
Buffalo- Philly for the Optimistic Ranger Fan
Isles-Pitt for the “hope they beat each other senseless” Fan
Dallas -Colorado for the worried Hawks Fan
Sabres Ceremony before the game. Looks like every Sabre that ever played…
40 Years of No Cup Hockey. 15 to go to take the blight off New York.
I can’t wait to read the comments on this blog in approximately 3 hours. Should be fun.
Rupp Roh
Pens up 1-0
This is a good night for Hockey. Where is everyone? It’s not like you can affect anything, watch and enjoy.
Sharp scores 27 seconds in.
Hawks 1-0 over Detroit
Anyone got links??
Sorry Sharp passed to Seabrook to score
Village People Gillies still playing in the NHL is a joke…get that clown out of the league…
Try this one.
http://www.stream2watch.com/?defaulttimezone=-4&option=com_videolist&view=video&Itemid=2
stream here for anyone
http://homsports.com/Carolina+Hurricanes++Atlanta+Thrashers-1019.htm
just make sure you x out the chat box it makes an annoying sound.
also make sure you go full screen so you don’t get a ton of popups
Thanks Mazzo.
Boulton already hurt. Great.
If that doesn’t work try here
http://www.vodkasports.com/
1-0 Carolina already. Very standard.
Hawks make it 2-0
Canes scoreGame OverSeason OverWell, no shutout for the Trashers tonight – Canes 1-0 already….
I hope we don’t miss drafting the next Jeff Skinner because of our 8th or 9th place finish :P
Pavelec isn’t a Vezina candidate tonight….
Couldn’t score on Enroth, but the Craps score on him in the first minute.
Couldn’t score on Pavelec, but the Canes score on him in the first five minutes
Sad.
Canes are going to romp in this game. Up 1-0 already in a mostly empty building in Atlanta.
Campbell makes it 3-0 Chicago!
No sense even watching this game. It’s already over. NYR needs a miracle.
2-0
2-0 Carolina.
This is hilarious.
so much for watching that
2-0 Canes as Thrashers put the puck in front of their own net.
2-0…....amazing…...
If we lose tomorrow’s game, I seriously hope one of the Devils goons destroys Butt-Chin.
I guess last night’s game was Atlanta’s Stanley Cup playoffs.
This shows how dreadful the Rangers were last night. Thrashers suck, and beat us 3-0.
Need a miracle? Pray for Saint Sather to be fed to the lions.
Hey Atlanta are like the Rangers good one game, real bad the next.
were done heads. carolina wont lose this or the tampa game. this sucks
1:55 in the morning … I had a couple of drinks, probably a couple too much but i returned back and realize that the Carolina hurricanes leading 2-0 up on the thrashers..
Flyers score!
Philly 1 Buf 0
We still have a shot if the Sabs blow it.
Hartnell!! (In the good LGR sense) Filthy up 1-0 on Buff.
so the hockey season ends around 3.00 pm your time 21 hours my time tomorrow when the Rangers
That’s a real longshot, Orr….....
Baby Buffaloes collapse might be the best bet now.
Ha! Canes PP now…...
Was that Girardi down on his belly on the ice as Hartnell scored?
Think so, Carp? Columbus isn’t exactly tearing up the league….
Can we use Sather as a Human Sacrifice?
5 on 3 for the Canes…...
I agree with Carp, I think it’s our only shot at getting in. The Canes are as hungry as Kobayashi.
The Jackets might be able to surprise us.
And that’s assuming the Rangers win tomorrow.
It’s not looking good for us. No doubt aboot that.
None whatsoever, Orr…..
Skinner and Cole with the Canes’ goals…wouldn’t it be nice to have ONE reliable goal scorer?
Let the depress-a-thon begin…This collapse will be worse than last year’s
Yeah – their star players actually score when the team needs them to!
Jimbo, if Buffalo loses tonight and the Rangers can win tomorrow afternoon, there will be a lot of pressure on the Baby Buffaloes against a team that has absolutely nothing to lose.
A collapse of MET proportions…..
I will quit on the NHL after a number of years when the Rangers miss the playoffs this season..
Go Canes Go…....look at how hard they are going after it….too bad Mr. October. Dumbinsky won’t be watching…he could see how players with heart play….....summer is here….but don’t all of you worry 17 says he’s gonnaplay like its game 7…..too bad they didn’t figure that for the last week they are all game 7s…....your best bet is sabres losing but unlikely…...yup this team learned how valuable 1 point is last year…........yep…....ALL TALK…....shaddup and play….well we’ve stayed the course…....we’ve rebounded from bad defeats and we’ve been able to develop our golf game early the last 2 years….................
I’m already under the assumption that our season’s over, even if we win tomorrow.
It’s ironic too, because before the season started, a few people got on my case because I said the Canes will make the playoffs over NYR, and nobody believed me.
Orrstradamus!
Let’s have Filthy get the next one and the Buff’s will empty their tanks (and their hearts) trying to catch up in front of all their failed (and pickled) ancestors on Alumni Night.
I don’t care how mediocre the Jackets have been. If Buff fails their entire hockey family tonight, it’s gonna be a miserable flight to Columbus… and a frightening Saturday night.
Bring it Filthy.
At least if the Canes win tonight, we’ll know that the season is over if we lose in regulation tomorrow. sigh
Our problem is the lack of top end talent (FIRE SATHER) and Gaborik inexcusably mailing this season in (FIRE SATHER). If we dont make the playoffs, that’s why.
New York deserves a way better team than the Rangers, a way better manager than Glen Sather, who is so out of the world..
That’s true, Spider.
Oh yeah, I can’t believe I forgot about the Sabres, too. So if they lose, we still won’t know.
It’s Sather’s fault, isn’t it?
there is nothing quite like being a rangers fan
Carp, from your keyboard to the Lord’s ears or eyes! I hope it can happen, but Buff hasn’t lost yet tonight, and I have very little faith in the Blue Jackets…
great song…............
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n4v8h1nwyvI
Slatsko..In any other place in the world, Sather would be history long time ago but not in New York:)
I can see it now
The team that (didn’t) show up at MSG last night would not do much more than embarrass the franchise in the playoffs even if they did somehow get in. But they wont because after tonight the Rangers have to actually win to get in and I do not think they have that in them.
The Buffs’ radio boys already sound VERY worried. “Why are the Butter Knifes so nervous at this time of the year” they want to know! Ha. It’s contagious.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x7S8NCdICaY&feature=related
buffalo loses tonight…rangers win tomorrow…we have 2 shots…buff loses again and TB thunderbolts the canes…it could happen…it should happen,,,,it will happen…never surrender…
I can see it now…
Carolina Hurricanes make the playoffs on the last game of the season and advance to the Stanley Cup final!
I can see it…
Did somebody say we should be rooting against the Penguins tonight? Isles losing to them,
2-0
NOw that i’ve offered up the obituary, I will say that if past results are any prediction of future behavior, the Rangers will beat the Devils tomorrow, Buffalo will lose the next two games and the Canes will lose tomorrow night. Other than Buffalo losing to Columbus those are the most likely outcomes believe it or not. Based on that type of thinking – which most fans including us would engage in if we hadn’t rooted for this particular franchise for the last 40-50 years – the loss to the Thrashers last night was an aberrancy, and Carolina should be expected to win this game tonight. It’s tomorrow when they’d lose.
But this is the Rangers and it’s April. Anything can happen but usually anything doesn’t – one thing does.
CCCP I had that nightmare awhile ago with Buffalo when they got their new owner. Someone who cares that they win…
Let’s see how much pride the Thrashers have. If they can summon the next goal, the Canes will really have to work.
If Buff comes up short and starts to taste a little fear, who do they start in Columbus with the season on the line? The decision could really haunt them.
Buffalo announcers already hinted that Miller will start Saturday.
Le Québec Devils?
http://slapshot.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/03/26/nordiques-nation-is-headed-to-newark/
But this is the Rangers and it’s April. Anything can happen but usually anything doesn’t – one thing does,
Sather goes golfing…
Sabres Scored BTW
3-0 Carolina hahahahaha.
3-0
so much pride for Atlanta
3-0 Canes…turn out the lights, the party’s over…
Is Byfugkien playing? Is Evander Kane? How about Boulton? Where are all those world-beaters tonight?
Go thrashers go…. Beat the byfuglien canes..
Can’t count on anyone tonight.
Slatsko: I hope you’re right about a goalie switch if Buffalo loses tonight. A rusty, dinged-up Miller is more likely to let in an early bad one in Columbus.
A rusty, dinged-up Miller is still pretty good… :(
Sabs 2-1
Sabres score again.
Buff 2-1
143 peple in atlanta watching at the arena… I counted them during a high wide angle camera shot
It’s all over for us…...
Incredible confluence of events…you couldn’t write a script more unbelievable than what is happening here…
I am not happy Rangers missing the playoffs, but I am happy that Sather missing the playoffs…
2-1 Buffalo.
I’m done. This is not even remotely exciting.
Hossa makes it 4-0 Black Hawks!
I bet Hawks wish they kept Ladd instead of Hossa
TB beats carolina
Sather could give two carcillos. He still gets paid. He still is El Presidente.
No point in even playing tomorrow
I miss Byfuglien and Niemi
Forget Sabres… We need Tampa to beat the Canes and of course we need to beat Jeesey tomorrow… won’t be easy
Hope is a good thing, maybe the best thing..
It’s ain’t over yet…
If Sabres lose in regulation tonight, it doubles our options. Why should we forget them?
it*
Watch Tampa destroy the Canes tomorrow, 5-1
But, we lose to Jersey 1-0. I’d seriously burn a tree down if that happened.
Flyers tie it
Jeesy = Jersey
I’ll be at the game tomorrow…somewhere in 300 level
Flys tie it up
Ok…2-2
PHILLY SCORES! COME ON!
3-2 FLYERS!
3-2 Flyers now
Why can’t Dreary score against Buffalo like Briere does??
3-2!!!
Has the Enroth bubble burst?
Briere!
ORR, that would require Drury playing.
Seriously, when was the last time Stamkos scored a goal? Is he injured? I haven’t seen his name on the score sheet in some time.
That Atlanta club is filled with class individuals, huh?
Because Drury is home making pizza.
Buff gives up a shortie and Filthy ties it. But the NHL.com scoreboard has Philly up 3-2?!!! Is the radio feed delayed?
What the Carcillo is happening?
Flys scored 2 quick goals – lead 3-2
Beeing a fan of a team is boring…Sports should be entertaining and if its not…
move on to something different…..
What is keeping that 4th Carolina goal?
move on to something different….. Like NASCAR?
Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Crash, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn, Left turn
Winner!
Too bad that so many rangers won’t be watching these games…........must care so much…......well at least they don’t have to watch a team with heart like carolina go for it…........shut the byfuglien up and go play like you care…........not sometimes…........all the time….......
only FC Barcelona, Federer, Djokovic, Nadal …is the money worth right now…
Rest is waste of time…........
Nascar. What a joke. They actually have the nerve to call it a “sport”
ESPn are fuggers!
Darts throwing?
I hate this Buffalo announcer
If missing the playoffs this season means Sather is gone, would anyone WANT the Rangers to make the playoffs?
Now if Darts had a goalie…
detroit red wings are rangers west it seems…totally uncharacterisitc of that team…
reg, pretty bitter tonight, eh?
DJK, because it doesn’t mean that.
Detroit gets one.
Buckle down Hawks!
I said last week that I wasn’t worried about the games against Philly and Boston, but rather the Atlanta and NJ games. And sure enough, I was right. Barf. All we can do now is wait, hope, and win tomorrow. The rest isn’t up to us anymore. Yeah, it sucks, it sucks bad, and it is sickening and so hard to swallow, but there is still the slimmest of chances. Let’s throw carcillo to the wall and see what sticks.
Versteeg HAS to bury that.
If missing the playoffs meant Sather was gone, I’d break Lundqvist’s leg myself…
You know it carp….........sucks when you care more than those who are paid to care
I don’t care aboot Slats. I’d prefer NYR to either tank, and get a top five pick, or make the playoffs, and get some experience in the playoffs.
The latter is our only possibility, though it’s highly unlikely barring some unforeseen incident.
Versteeg had a clean breakaway and could have made it 4-2 Flys, but he shot it over the net….
Versteeg = Overrated
Anything new on Tiki? Just arrived upstate, nothing from mama on my phone….It sounded worrisome.
WOW! What a HUGE save by Bob or who ever the fugg that is
It’s not that slim of chance -it’s going to happen.
ORR- I don’t want Sather doing the rebuilding.
WHAT A SAVE BOB. WOW.
I continue to think that the Curse of Red Dutton is still in effect…...
Thinking of becoming a Winnipeg Thrashers/Jets fan
If the Rangers are going to miss the playoffs, please just let them lose tomorrow. Not sure I can handle an entire day of this.
I just LOVE that Kane Cup winning goal! 49 years of History…
ISLES TIE IT UP.
There’s our “beloved Ranger” Pat LaFontaine up in Buff with a Sabres sweater on, rooting for the Sabres…..
Why exactly was this guy doing color commentary for us several games ago?
Haven’t heard anything, ilb, since the report about the brain injury and his being in critical condition.
I think he did the commentary for the games that we played Buffalo.
Bob the Goalie saves the bacon. Buff is NOT having fun. Think of the bar bill with all those Sabres alumni in the hospitality suite. Or do you suppose it’s BYOB?
Whatever, go Filthy! I want Ryan Miller on mighty meds, seeing double, trying to save the season in Columbus tomorrow night.
Isles back to sucking.
LaFontaine played 8 years for the Isles, 6 for Buffalo and 1 for the Rangers. He’s about as beloved a Ranger as Lindros.
The Lightning are spanking Florida tonight, but Nashville is spanking Columbus. Both teams play tomorrow against the two very teams we need to beat out. I can see Tampa beating the Canes tomorrow, but it won’t matter unless we win tomorrow. I don’t see a very bad Columbus team beating the Sabres.
Was that the game he was on our TV coverage? Well that makes sense then…...I never was too fond of LaFontaine – too may years with the Isles & Sabres….
The fact of the matter is, at the end of the night, we will be out of the playoffs for the first time in a long time. BARF
Thanks, Marji. Waiting for mama to respond.
Thanks for the reminder, Slatsko – Mike Keane’s best hit as a Ranger is when he rung LaFontaine’s bell…........
I didn’t see a bad (Atlanta, Islanders, Ottawa) team beating the Rangers either.
Buffalo down 3-2 after 2. Sadly, they will not lose to CBJ.
Wow Ryan Miller in the game.
Nasty- Rangers have been out of the playoffs since April 2009…
Let us know if you hear anything, ilb.
LOL on nascar
It’s a good sign that Vinny LeC and Ryan Malone (getting back to form after an injury) have scored for TB. Some players with integrity. The Bolts’ very intense coach doesn’t seem like the kind to want to glide into the playoffs. I’m betting he subscribes to the “playing right is the only way” philosophy.
Buff radio crew are officially panicky: complaining about a missed offside call on the Flyers back in the second. Loser talk! Keep it up.
I hope Columbus is pissed they lost to the sabres 5-0 earlier in the yr.. such a disgrace that we have to deal with the same old nonsense because we can’t close out on Atlanta (all season long).
There is Goal #4 for Carolina.
Nice save Bob.
5-0 Carolina. You could see this coming a mile away. Thanks Atlanta.
I don’t know who to be more angry with, the players or the coaches. How in the Hell do you not show up for that game last night?
only hope now is that sabres lose the last game in reg and we win.
6-0 Carolina!!
Rangers must have tired out the Thrashers…
The Canes game was easily predictable.
This Sabs game is a bit surprising. Could change at any moment though.
Mama hasn’t heard anything either…Trying to get in touch with his brother.
Nasty 1
Out of playoffs for the first time in a long time? If you consider last year missing the playoffs a long time ago…then I guess you’re right
Agree on Canes game, that was expected….Tomorrow against TB will be a different game…
The way Carolina has played the last few weeks, they deserve to make it over both Buffalo and the Rangers.
Isles tied the game, going into OT…..they were robbed of a goal right before scoring their 3rd….by rights, this game should be over!
Buff ties the game…
Who’d you rather have Gerbe or MZA?
Buffalo ties it.
3-3 Buffalo tied it
That’s a Lungfist-style softy.
(Sigh)
Does TB have something tangible to play for? Why risk your star players?
6-0 Carolina, i guess they got the memo
Useless Nicky Z!
Zherdev…..only can score against the Rangers….
AyVeerE – I just looked at the boxscore from that game. Looks like a pretty intense game lots of fights etc
http://sabres.nhl.com/club/boxscore.htm?id=2010020375
A late loss here would of course be needed and huge
Good job by Carcillo taunting Gerbe a few minutes before the goal there.
Wow! If you thought last night’s loss couldn’t be any more embarrassing, just look at the score of the Canes-Trashers game.
Pathetic!Holy crap what a goal by Gerbe. Do the Rangers have anyone that can do that at full tilt in a pressure game? Uh…
You saw that taunt too, eh Carp? I knew that little guy was gonna make them pay….
Skinner with a goal and two assists. He’s 18 years old, and he’s stepping up in a must win game.
Butt-Chin, a veteran, a “superstar”, he does nothing. Piece of carcillo.
Thx ilb
Miller hasn’t played in two weeks or more, and now he’s stopping everything. Of course!!
Gerbe, gerber babe is much better, scores late in the season and made an immediate impact for buffalo. Where as zuccarello is reliable in the shootout and is a good playmaker. We need scorers, Gerbe all the way.
Carp: gotta dream, right?
I KNEW the Thrashers would lay down for the Canes tonight….
Why do the Sabres away jersey’s look like they have sweat stains under the pits?
Well, Isles lost in the shootout…..Pens get top spot….
So far, it’s a perfect storm tonight…..
It’s times like this that the Sabres wish they still had Captain Unclutch out there making clutch dump ins to preserve the tie.
Gerber baby is another briere.
Flyers dogging it..playing for a tie….thanks guys…
Philly still with the division lead if they get a point out of this.
Sabs clinch a spot. We’re screwed.
I know it’s better to get in on our own, but it’s pretty amazing how little help we’ve gotten the past couple weeks.
G
The Flyers would not go into the Buff zone in the last minute…..they laid back!
Wow Buffalo just ran out the clock in regulation. That is so lame.
Just what the Flyers wanted.
I feel ill.
Well this was another major night of suckage…...
U hear that? That’s he sound of missing the playoffs, once this game reaches IT buff is in.. god please let Tampa beat atl. Pleaseeeee
Good for Buffalo and its fans
Dark day if you’re a Rangers fan
Buffalo fans thanking their new GM…imagine signs at MSG “Thank you Mr. Sather”
sigh
Sabs win
And Buff wins in OT….
Rangers Tombstone-
Can’t Beat
Atlanta
ok so that’s it, it’s all come down to this. we get 0 points tomorrow, we are eliminated no matter what Carolina does tomorrow as they have the tie breaker. we get 1 point tomorrow, carolina gets 0, we’re in. carolina gets 1 and we get 1, carolina is in. we get 2, carolina gets 0, we’re in, 1 we’re in, 2 carolina is in.
Actually, it would be “Thank you Mr. Dolan” which would be even more disturbing.
Now have to win in regulation tomorrow I think.
i told you all i would wait to 10pm to check the report and find out the score.
well like i knew it was going to happen
i am so glad even though i have the center ice package i didnt put myself through the torture of watching this game.
SEASON OVER = DIASASTER
Sabres rolling into postseason in style!!
Black Hawks Win! Not a total loss tonight.
This simple: Rangers get in with a win and a Carolina loss in regulation, OT or shootout; or with a point and a Carolina regulation loss.
Canes score 6 against Atlanta, and we couldn’t score once. Who deserves the playoff spot?
This sucks im so angry it comes down to this. Ill be in the city tomorrow, its going to be a terrible day or a great one… but its not looking to great
So, in other words….
Game Over
Season Over
Total waste.
Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately) it will all be over around 3pm tomorrow
What a revolting development…....
Expect the Rangers to win tomorrow. Hoping TB plays Carolina hard.
But after 81 games for everyone, the Buffs and Canes look like faster, stronger, more skilled teams than NY.
If Carolina DOESN’T clinch it at home against a Bolts team with no chance to catch Pitt, it will be a genuine disgrace. Not counting on it. Just hoping.
What is the scenario?
If Rangers and Canes win tomorrow?
That’s the math, Carp. Rangers get two points whichever way, Carolina lose whichever way, we are in. If the Rangers get only one point tomorrow, Carolina has to lose in regulation.
I’m looking at tiebreaker when we are only going to get in with more points
Blame Steven McDonald
He jinxed it last night lol
Tomorrow will be a microcosm of this entire season. They will win, and we will have to wait till the last possible moment (the Carolina game) to get kicked in the huevos.
Kevin if both win, Carolina is in via tiebreaker.
SERENITY NOW!!!!
tampa is locked into the 5th spot what could they possibly play for.
they will rest guys.
ILB dont tell me its a div game nonsense look what happen with atl tonight
Kurt, If Carolina wins, Game Over. Trade everybody. Fire everybody.
And just because I’m trying to be Peter Positive for you guys: Carolina has lost only one of its last 10 games (8-1-1). It was against Tampa Bay.
When was the last time nyr, nyi, and njd all missed the playoffs? If ever..
ORR
it’s not total waste… remember the BIG picture ;p
How many playoffs have we been in since Torts has been coach as opposed to Renney. Would 0-3 be correct???????
Disgusting
It would not be correct. 1 out of 3 would be.
I’ll tell you another “nonsense” Eric. Torts won the only SC for Tampa…
If the Rangers don’t make the playoffs, I blame Gaborik and Sather both.
I can’t recall a year when at least one of the 3 teams didn’t make the post season…..
AyVeer, never.
Just got home. Just checked the scores.
Of course. Not surprised in the slightest.
Jimbo- Carp mentioned it. Never.
Full marks to Buff for their gutsy stretch drive with a backup keeper in the net (until the third tonight).
Between the Canes and Rangers, let the team with the last lousy performance miss the show. Right now, of course, that’s NY.
Perhaps TB will push back a little harder in the first than Atlanta did and make the Canes earn it.
“Carolina has lost only one of its last 10 games (8-1-1). It was against Tampa Bay.”
When the outcome of the game counted for Tampa Bay, unlike tomorrow’s game.
I didn’t “refresh, refresh”...sorry, guys….
Carolina played like their season was on the line & they wanted to win. How come we couldn’t do that??
Last night’s game vs Atl was an absolute disgrace, especially when you look at how the Canes whupped them in Atl tonight. it just shows how bad the effort was last night. pathetic, especially Gaborik, who is a total dog in games when the team needs him
To me it’s a total waste. Good seasons for a few players, and they can only get better, but still, it would have been nice to see them get a few playoff games.
Rangers will win tomorrow, but so will the Canes, sadly.
Fugg it all!
eric “well like i knew it was going to happen”
I think that’s what you call wishful thinking.
Carolina and Buffalo both!! Coming from behind – all our guys had to do was maintain their lead, but they couldn’t do it, so they get overtaken.
What was worse, the Isles loss or the Trashers loss??
My answer is that they didn’t want to be in the playoffs. No money is involved so why not start vacation early?
“If the Rangers don’t make the playoffs, I blame Gaborik and Sather both.”
How about Captain Invisible?
That’s a new one, Cape…
Isles loss was worse for me because of the rivalry factor – and knowing that that particular loss would probably thwart our chances of making it into the post season.
They can gloat out there on the Island that they knocked us out of a playoff spot if everything doesn’t go perfectly tomorrow.
We saw some very young players do very good things this year. If we someone excise Drury from the roster and get Brad Richards, or better yet, the unthinkable happens and we successfully raid
Zach Parise away from the Devils via an offer sheet (carbon copy of Kovalchuk’s contract?), think of the possibilities for next season.
Gaborik will be a MSG boo-bird target if he remains on the roster on opening day next season for sure.
Why all the negativity??.............We made big strides this year…......We stayed the course with our youth…..this is all part of the process…...I believe in our team in that locker room…...we will rebound and perform well in the next game….........Brooksie” Uh, John that was the last game of the year, you’re out” ............aw c’mon Brooksie do you want to turn this into another Tampa Bay??? you remember that one don’t ya???????.................
post game Sunday about 325pm…................. can’t you just see it now??????
Thursday night’s loss and the Rangers’ precarious position tonight are not about an effort deficit, but an obvious offensive talent deficit. Carolina and Buff have very good goaltending, can buckle down defensively, are well coached, but have weapons up front that we just don’t have.
The Rangers have won MORE games this season than this lineup should have. Hopefully they’ll win one more and the guys that dress for Tampa will give an honest effort in Carolina.
Flyers really ended their game disgracefully…..what a total lack of class…...
Slatso: of course you can blame Drury, and blame Sather for burdening the franchise with his albatross contract.
These guys are millionaires. This is a business for them. Why play extra games for nothing?
I just want them all to get equal credit DJK…
You know what’s funny? The Rangers have 3 more wins and 6 less OT losses than Carolina, but Carolina is still ahead.
NHL point system really sucks, doesn’t it?
I see that the rat Keenan has jumped the MSG ship now that the Rangers are in danger of missing the playoffs.
That’s right Duker. If the NHL hadn’t changed the tiebreaker rule, we would be in the playoffs.
To Quote Dandy Don Meridith ” The Party’s Over ”. It’s really ashame that we were nearly ,500 at MSG. Really upset with the tiebreaker system. If all agree to it how can you be penalized by it.
It’s the curse, I tell you…..
Posting on Mama’s behalf:
“Hi, all, still no update on Tiki. Thanks for all your good thoughts. I know it will mean the world to him when he gets better and sees them :) I’ll update as soon as I know anything. Keep sending RR love!”
That did not go well
Thanks Mama and ilb for the update. Thinking of you Tiki.
Frolov was also a disaster mitigated only by his season-ending injury.
Wolski is inconsistent and overpaid
Dubinsky is not a first line player. He leads our team in points and won’t even break 60 this season.
Gaborik padded his stats with non-impact points vs. Garbage teams.
Bryan McCabe more or less is Derek Morris. Doubt he’ll be back next season.
CapeBretonRangerFan,
It’s also funny: we lost the shootouts and missed the playoffs last season, and this season we win the shooutouts and STILL are on the brink.
What a horrible break..
If the Rangers fail to make the playoffs tomorrow, then I fear this is what most Rangers fans will do after the game….
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=chjCnTzkjOE
Get better, Tiki…..
Jimbo: Although the Flyers didn’t forecheck in the last minute, they really did skate and press in the third. They didn’t throw the game at all. After Gerbe scored what might be the goal of the year for Buff, Filthy produced a series of long, dangerous shifts in the Sabres end.
I’d love to blame Philly’s ethical bankruptcy for the unhappy result, but I can’t.
I just want to see how many naturally competitive SOBs Tampa has. Goalie Mike Smith better be one of ‘em.
Hate to say I told you so but I predicted weeks ago we would lose out on the tiebreaker.
The ending of the Flyers/Sabres game (both teams playing for OT) justifies why the NHL is a joke
no, that is not correct. you have to separate OT from shootout.
this is the price they paid for depending on the skills comp to win games.
it was well understood from the beginning of the season that this was the first tiebreaker. blame Det and their GM ken holland, because it was his idea to do it.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!1
Ok Carp , im a wreck over here …Whats our chances now since Carolina beat the Thrashers tonight. Cuz right now were tied with them . Who gets the tie breaker??
Carolina loses in ot and we win in ot and we are in!!????
No complaints on what Flyers and Sabres did…...........Rangers had the control of their own destiny and that’s why you play hard always so that this doesn’t happen…......Their own fault…....all that TALK about learning from last year….........Total Carcillo…...... ALL TALK…......NEED a REAL LEADER…........
You know in all honesty with the way we played last night, we don’t deserve to be in the playoffs. We lose to Atlanta 3-0 and the Canes whip their ass 6-1. Case closed. The coaches and players all need to take long look in the mirror. Wait to Next year. Maybe Kreider, Thomas and hopefully Brad Richards.
ZzZz NYR ZzZz,
Carolina gets the tiebreak no matter what happens.
Rangers win, Canes lose(reg or OT/SO), we’re in.
Rangers get 1 point, Canes lose in regulation, we’re in.
Rangers lose, no dice.
Let’s just get a Rangers win tomorrow and see what happens from there..
I can’t blame Philly or Buffalo either for playing a certain strategy. Just because it inconveniences the Rangers? How many times did the Rangers play conservatively just to get that first point? And we were relieved that they got it.
So why gripe now?
Wake up people! Did you SEE the lack of effort last night, and did you SEE the lack of effort in the shootout in game 82 last year?
“I’d love to blame Philly’s ethical bankruptcy for the unhappy result, but I can’t.
But in the last minute or so of regulation, they didn’t compete! They would not go into the Buff defensive zone….they were laying back, playing for the tie….
Can’t blame them. They wanted at least a point so they can remain in 2nd.
The Buffalo announcers actually said the same thing – “They’re laying back! They’re doing us a favor!”
There’s no sense in getting upset when it’s out of our hands. The outcome of the season has already been decided.
Jimbo: Up to the last minute, Philly played with as much commitment or more than I expected and had a lead with less than half the third left. Buff only tied it on a brilliant individual effort.
The Buff victory is less painful, though, than the reality that no one on the Rangers could do what Gerbe (or Vanek) did tonight. We don’t have the horses yet.
I am so disappointed right now, I can’t believe how this season is turning out. Things looked really good for us a couple of weeks ago, and now everything has gone to hell. This is worse than last year, because we’re a better team than we were last year.
Greg, good news is that Zucca is playing tomorrow!
I just want the Rangers to win…that’s all they can do…the rest is out of their hands and lies in destiny…
Just win!
Thanks Duker .
Having that big GOOF Chara slap a shot off of Callahan makes me sick!!! If we had cally last game….things might have been different.
Nice to see Zucco in , so when is Carolina last game ? On sunday I bet.
Dallas 2 Colorado 1
Let’s go Aves
Well, I’m totally disgusted with the whole situation. This has to be the worst season’s end for the Rangers – so much worse than last year, when they were playing great to try to get into the playoffs, but fell short – this one is MUCH more painful to me, anyway…
no roloson no malone no vinny im assuming tom
Carolina hosts Tampa tomorrow at 7.
We’ll know our destiny tomorrow…
jimbo
couldnt agree more with you.
we were in the top 8 since november up and until tonight.
losing now is a disgrace
Really hoping for Rangers and Bolts wins tomorrow. But we CAN’T claim to be a better team right now than Buff or Carolina.
If the last spot was to be decided by a one-game playoff between New York and Carolina with unlimited overtime and no shootout, we’d all be betting on the Canes. They’re better. It stinks.
Yet, given the crazy situation in reality,... we still might get in! Fair?
One name for next year – Rick Nash – he is a “monster” Big tough skillful wing who can score goals – he is stuck in Columbus and we have the prospects\players\picks to grab him. Forget Richards, etc…Keep bringing the kids up and developing them and stick Nash in there. This team played hard but for whatever reason the sports gods are very cruel to a certain amount of teams
eric: Not sure about Vinny LeC, but I’m guessing Malone will play since he’s recently been out and probably needs game tuning. (He’s got a nice little one-game goal scoring streak to continue too!)
Nash? ...Why not Malkin? He has a Conn Smythe :P
Ladd (the captain of the Thrash) would obviously instruct his team to lay down against his former club he won a Cup with.
Nice leadership Ladd
What do the Rangers have that Columbus would take for Nash?
Nothing…
Season over. FIRE SATHER!!
Thanks, eric – it’s just sinking in now, and I’m beginning to realize how absolutely horrible it is that we can be knocked out of playoff competition on the last day of the regular season, after we were in the top 8 all season…..it is just an awful ending!
On a positive note. How many times have we seen teams score 5-6-7 goals only to score 0-1 the following game?? Hopefully The Canes “blew their load” tonite and are snake bitten tomorrow
That’s what I’ve been preaching for years…
FIRE FIRETRUCKIN’ SATHER!
If Tampa had any balls, they’d play their stars so they can eliminate their division fuggin rivals
I mean, honestly, it’s their rivals! Don’t they want to see them eliminated??
Brooks said it best—“Who doesn’t beat the thrashers to make the playoffs?”
– great year either way – and it’s just competitive nowadays. We knew this team wasn’t a winner, still needs some more talent to go with all that heart.
Seems to me they really just got tired down the stretch.
Dallas 3 Col 2
it ain’t over til it’s over..
Short term budget deal averts midnight government shutdown!!
wooohhhooo! does that news improve our chances of getting in?
Columbus is trading Nash? Did you call Leonsis? Ovechkin is a decent hockey player too, I hear….
ORR- If the Rangers had the playoffs clinched, would you rest Lundqvist or play him just to beat the Isles?
Yeah, Septemous – but every season is an entity into itself – do you think that the Islanders are gonna come out of the gate in October and be world beaters? NO – because many of the pieces of that team will have left the vicinity before next season starts…same with the Devils – yeah, they made a great late run – but that team is going to be dismantled in the off-season….many new players will be getting worked into that dastardly trap system.
And so will the Rangers – the team that Sather/Dolan fields next season won’t be this team we’ve enjoyed for the most part this season. There will be new players, new problems, new challenges
We need to get two points first and then worry about 7 pm. Imagine? That was planned all the way. Only Rangers can make you bite your nails for 83 games during the 82-game regular season….
ilb- maybe we could dig up Rocket Richard?
is Nash a Ranger yet?
The Rangers’ captain can’t lead by example or by force of personality. The Rangers’ best forward can’t score any more (possibly because of the bum shoulder). The Rangers’ on-ice leader can’t play because he tried too hard (and is too brave to wear little ankle guards). The Rangers’ best player can only stop shots, not score them.
So, even if they squeak in, the most the Rangers can give us is another two or three wins. Would they really be that satisfying? Do they really have the magical power to erase our current frustration.
No.
I think the Rangers run as well as my old Nash did…
The NHL isn’t like it was in the 1960’s and 70’s – where a team could basically field the same exact team year after year, with maybe a rookie or two up from the minors or in from juniors.
Free agency has ended that possibility – teams are so different, personnel wise, from one season to the next that you can hardly realize it’s the same team, if not for the fact that they’re wearing the right uniform.
remember the joking and ribbing at the all-star game between the brothers Staal??
looks like Eric will get the last laugh
We’ve gone that route, Olga….Every time they try to dig up Rocket, someone else emerges instead-Lindross, Fleury, Naslund…Guess their digging up skills aren’t as good as Goodfellas…
hey Olga, if the Sharks win both games vs the Coyotes in reg, then the Hawks beat out Phoenix.
they have the same # of pts right now, and the Hawks have 1 more ROW
“I think I found a leg”......”I found a wing”.......”hey, I think I just found some lungs!”......
believe and it will happen
Heres another positive note …
The Whalepack clinched a playoff spot tonite !!!
LETS GO RANGERS TOMMOROWW!!!!!!
As bad as it looks right now…we just could pull this thing off!!!!!
We have to BELIEVE , Gaborik you jerkoff , WAKE UP TOMMOROW!!!!!!
I’m not greedy right now. I just want Dallas to be eliminated, then worry about position.
Knicks made the playoffs
Is that good or bad?
Teemu Selanne is unreal…30 goals…
Great Strahan quote, Eddie.
Heads up, incoming tissue box!
Dallas wins.
Knicks are irrelevant. Dolan is Happy. That makes me sad.
BUYOUT DOLAN!
“Anything Sather does that can go wrong, will go wrong”.
Olga’s Law
Cheaper to have Dolan rubbed out…
Martin St Louis needs 4 points for 100
LOL! Olga, always so quick! Bwaha!
Better yet, assassinate Dolan!
Please, the rangers are done, put a fork in them. another wasted season. Carolina isn’t going to lose there last game and even if Carolina lost, the rangers would lose to the devils anyway. This garbage will keep going on as long as Sather remains the GM. Before Dolan was the owner at least the rangers always made the playoffs and would always at least make it to the second round and always had a exciting team to watch play. Those were the days. Well, at least I got to watch every game in 94 all the way to the cup. I can take that to my grave.
Orr, that would be great if somehow Dolan and Sather were taking out. maybe somehow when dolan and Sather are scheduled to fly in Dolan’s private jet someone can rig the jet to explode while in flight. One can only dream.
ToMG – you make me want to cut my nuts off, wrap em up in some pretty paper and give em to you as a gift. From me to you
LMAO, ddeb…
ddebened- Your Nuts! or is it You’re Nuts?
Re-gifting is acceptable but I suggest you keep one for yourself.
LOL
Crack of Midnight!
Son of a…....
Poor hobbit wizard not being with his team to clinch!
Maybe Torts and Sullivan and Prospal and Fedotenko can call all their Tampa boys—Marty and Lecavalier, etc., and offer them some Dolan Dollars and free cable for life if they beat Carolina.
Carp! Got any good jokes? Other than Drury?
Selanne is incredible.
Manny, he’ll be playing tomorrow.
Hopefully he brings magic. I’m not talking aboot Redden’s magical dust :P
Yummmmm…. Cable.
NYR_fan :) ....14-10 fellas…score a TD and we are world champs….believe it and it will happen
I will Sing the anthem of the hobbit wizard on the morrow.
OK, I’ll start…
A guy walks into a bar with a dog under his arm. The dog is wearing a NY Islanders jersey and the guy is holding an Islanders pennant.
The bartender says, “Hey! No pets allowed in here! You’ll have to leave! ”
The man begs, “Look I’m desperate. We’re both big Isles fans, my TV set is broken, and this is the only place we can see the game! ”
After securing a promise that the dog will behave and warning him that if there is any trouble they will be thrown out, the bartender relents and allows them to stay in the bar and watch the game.
The game begins with the Islanders winning the faceoff. They sweep across the blueline, fire a shot and it rings off the crossbar and in the net. With that the dog jumps up on the bar and begins walking up and down the bar barking and giving everyone a high-five.
The bartender says, “Wow that is the most amazing thing I’ve ever seen! What does the dog do if they win a playoff series?”
“I don’t know,” replies the owner, “I’ve only had him for seventeen years.”
“Selanne is incredible.”
Slats will sign him within five years!
GO RANGERSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!
We sucked BIG TIME last game , Only thing left to do is play our hearts out tommorow .
Things look bleak Tomg and I dont blame you for sticking in that fork . We are about to be “forked” cuz were almost done. No one cares if we make but us . We have to rally up the troops and pull out the biggest frickin win of the year!!!!!! We need to go out with that huge win so we can watch the Tampa vs Carolina in FEAR , We need that fear cuz it keeps the love because when we fricking win that game and Tampa wins thiers…..We will have made it!!!! This time by the skin of our teeths and await our fate that lead Philly to the most promising prize in all of sports.LORD STANLEYS MUG.
The only way the Rangers get to the Stanley Cup finals is to buy a ticket…
LETS GO RANGERSSS !!!!!
LETS BEAT THOSE MUTHAS!!!!
NJ , you guys are going down!!!!!
CAROLINA WILL CHOKE!!!
CAROLINA WILL CHOKE!!!!
looks good for Carolina …so that means they will CHOKE!!!!
Olga , Carolina will CHOKE!!!!
CHOKEOLINA!!!!
CHOKEOLINA!!!
Maybe. You will know if it’s relevant long before Carolina takes to the ice…
maryann have his milk and cookies before bed tonight…...
another downer year for a downer franchise who almost never come up big….
yep the shirts off tere backs presentation after tommorrows came could be classic.
the announcers will be laying all kinds of bull before, during, and after tommorrows game. islanders blew them out, they got 1 point against ottawa, got slammed by atl. and got shutout by the sabres backup goalie…
but hey the brilliant players cannot figure out why they cannot get good starts and other blather…................................................................
carolina has like the 23rd ranked d and a negative goal diff but they make it over the rangers. the rangers have a bully offense, they score 6 or more goals about 8 times but many many nights come up miniture..
let’s discuss for the next 10 weeks if they just gave avery some more minutes and gave gaborik about his 10th different linemate it all would be good…...
ToMG -ZzZz’s got me feeling bad, and I apologize.
Can I have my nuts back?......before you stick a fork in ‘em!
buffalo lost there starting goalie for about 6 games down the stretch, had as many injuries as the rangers if not more and they found a way to win down the stretch and are in and the rangers woulda coulda shoulda for another year…...............
The only person I feel bad for is Hank… played his heart out and for what? Freaking eh…
henrik may get vezina consideration at least
He was only playing good to impress his brother….none of them wanted to win. Face it.
what did the rangers accomplish this year… henrik got a year older(bad thing). drury now has 1 less year on his deal same for maryanne and redden.
staal and the minny guys improved. girardi stayed about the same a good not great d man.
aa, dubi, cally, improved some. aa needs to get stronger and dubi needs to get smarter. cally needs to stay healthy.
stepan got his first taste of the nhl and proved he belongs. mza proved he may be able to play at this level.. prust proved he is a 3rd and probably a 4th liner. same with boyle.
not much else gained. on the negative front we have a lot that happened also. mdz took a huge step back. gabby proved zilch… wolski and christensen proved the yare soft and enigma’s. fedetenk proved he is adecent player. prospal proved he is a fairly good player but old and fragile…
that is about it ranger fans they were not going to win the cup this year but after where they were about a week ago this is a total letdown and a total choke job….. islanders 5 to 1, blowout loss….end the friggin story….....
grachev proved he needs to get better… kreider proved he needs to turn pro and spend time in the ahl or prove he belongs with the big boys. the season proved that sather is a jerk who is not the worse gm but no better then 15th.. he usually improves on terrible signings but why make the signing in the first place…
where o where are the rangers going to find some forward that can skate, score, and play???????????????can hagelin make the team next year? he is 22 and can skate.. all the undersized skilled guys; werek, thomas, bourque, fespth, these guys are no way ready for the big league.
is mdz going to get back, is he going to learn. when can the rangers have a better power play? how many years can there power play be this bad…..
CCCP –
That’s a byfuglien joke. Hank has been great, no doubt. But to say this team hasn’t played it’s heart out is pathetic. They’ve probably lost the most man-games in the league due to injury. That places extra burden on those in the lineup, some of whom were playing banged up themselves. Add to that the style of hockey this team needed to play(and has all year)to be successful. It caught up with them. Emotion can sustain you only so much and needs a spark. They managed to get that spark vs Philly and Bost. but just couldn’t find it vs Atl.
maybe we’ll get the winter classic as a consolation prize
Stepan, Sauer, McDonagh and Zucc = 4 rookies
Artie is in his second fuggin year
Duh! No Shyte Sherlock!!!!!!!!!!Orr- Don’t know if that was for me but obviously some people aren’t aware of it. :)
ddebened
don’t be putting words in my mouth, bro…
Hank is wasting away…that’s why I feel bad for him
Oh no, that wasn’t for you, Dd. Just a little inside joke poking fun at one of the more retarded posters on this blog.
If he’s the only one you feel sorry for you’re not recognizing what this team has given in terms of effort and sacrifice. It’s what 99% of us said we’d be damn well happy with at the start of the season. A team that played hard and having the young guys get a chance.
I know getting cheated out of our bonus sucks but carcillo happens, live with it. And it’s not over.
Hank just turned 29.
Orr – You left Moran Atias off of your Israeli hottie list the other day.
I’m happy with everything… I can’t wait to see all of the 99% of the happy people later today!
Happy-happy! Joy-joy!
>>...maryanne
*Marion*ette?
Certainly was a better season than I had expected, even with us not making the playoffs. We probably won’t beat NJ anyway…not that that will matter as Tampa has nothing to play for against Carolina.
Never heard of her. Not bad.
CCCP-
I don’t mean to be combative, to me your original post suggested the rest of the team hasn’t played their hearts out.
I’m sure they are angry, frustrated, confused, distraught, disappointed and kicking themselves in the aasen as much as we are.
I’m not going to let Rangers failure ruin my summer. The team played hard all season; it came up short because the one guys who gets paid to score meaningful goals didn’t do his job.
[the one guy]
Stealing a game here or there with an “easy” goal or two would have gone a long way.
Yeah, I’m looking forward to reading the posts from the people who never post.
Ohhh, I’m looking forward to the arguments, the name-calling, etc.
Should be a funny/depressing day.
Carp will probably make a bundle tomorrow :)
So why is everyone sitting here complaining for? Have a little faith for once. I know things obviously look grim and luck is going to play a big factor from here on out but believe things will work the way we all want. Rangers crush the Devils tomorrow and Carolina loses their last game and we’re in. The season isnt over yet, guys. Take a chill pill and watch the last games. If we dont make it in, we will be better next year. Our core is looking good and Hank has proven hes as sharp as ever. But for right now have faith! The season isnt over yet!!
Will relish a win over the Debs and the most over-hyped goalie in hockey history (Hasek’s numbers are more impressive and earned primarily with Buffalo teams weaker defensively than Jersey).
Will Tampa play hard tonight. I think they will. Have you seen their coach? Intense. The Bolts have some great players with rings and plenty of young talent that want some too.
Yeah, Mike Smith might play today, but he’ll be more motivated than Rollie anyway.
Most importantly, Atlanta’s performance against Carolina was shameful. The players all know Ladd is still best buddies with the Canes, sending joking texts about killing the Rangers for them. And then Ladd and the boys went soft on the Canes themselves. The Carolina announcers were praising the losers (really!) for not finishing checks last night.
Atlanta’s fans, both of them, should be sickened.
I think LeC, St. L, Malone and the rest are prouder, more competitive athletes… and they may have their own selfish bonus stats to reach! LGL.
