Post-game notes and quotes

More quotes to follow shortly. But remember this — and I have no problem with anybody being a Negative Nancy tonight — if Carolina doesn’t win vs. Atlanta tomorrow night, the Rangers regain control of their destiny and can clinch with a win Saturday. Just sayin’. And, as somebody tweeted to Steve Zipay, the Thrashers should be well-rested because they didn’t have to work very hard tonight.

POST-GAME QUOTES

John Tortorella on the last game of the season… “We felt this coming for the past three weeks.  We have been on a pretty good run but Carolina keeps on winning, Buffalo keeps on winning.  It doesn’t surprise me at all that it takes 82.  We will be ready to play game 82.”

Henrik Lundqvist on the next game vs. New Jersey… “They are not in.  They are going to do everything they can to spoil.  They are going to do everything they can to not see us in the playoffs.  Also, they want to end the season on a good note.  It is going to be an exciting game, big game again like last year.”

Brandon Dubinsky on the last game of the season… “Make sure we play the best game of the season – come together.  We have to keep it tight in this room.  For the guys that were here last year, remember and make sure that fuels the fire.”

  1. ^ thanks Carp for giving us this new forum in which to complain, whine and wallow ^

  2. Also – I want to say that I think The Prust is hurt. He looked gassed all night and could not catch up to anyone. He is going to have a painful and surgically active off-season.

  3. I am fine with our Defense. It’s generally good.

Avery, Gaborik and Girardi let us down tonight. 2/3 are not D-Men. Gilroy looked fine on D. -1 on the winger but I still think it has potential to work.

  4. Headzo Del Headzo on

Let’s go Wolverines! Hagelin – the only sucessful Ranger property on a rink tonight!

  5. ORR!! is red text guy – I am small text guy. We all have a weird Hobbit Wizard magic trick that we do. Mine was found by accident. The Hobbit Wizard discovered his skills through hard work and study at the Harry Potter school. Grifendorf?

  6. >>I hear it’s a really great product.

No doubt, Manny! I’ve played with the first one; it’s a sweet gadget. I’ll probably end up with one by month’s end; I need GarageBand.

  7. How are the CT Whale (Hartford Wolfpack) doing? Maybe we can catch a few of those games?

  8. JBytes – I swore to my fiance I would by an iPad and a slingbox so I can sit in my living room and watch Sports TV while she watches Reality TV on Bravo HD.

  9. So, if we’re lucky enough to make the playoffs, then we’ll verse the Craps again.

Dangerous series. They’re a better team now, so you can throw away the record.

And we make no-name goalie look like Gods.

    Fugg it all!

  10. HELLO ALL

back from the garden. that was the worse 45 min drive i have ever had to encounter. i am on the ledge. this team sucks the life out of you every year.

i will continue to harp on my point fail to make the playoffs after being in the drivers seat since november is a COLLAPSE AND A DISASTER.

i dont want to hear about the young kids getting experience because you know what they were good enough to compete for a playoff spot for 81 games now fate is out of their hands. i dont blame the kids at all just saying as a collective team they wll fall out now is a disgrace.

they won 10 games without cally so thats no excuse.

i feel like crying because i take these losses personally.

    CARP GREAT SEEING YOU.

    SEASON OVER
    GOODNIGHT TURN OUT THE LIGHTS

  11. Richards (Future Ranger) has a nice PP goal tonight. Can’t wait until that counts in our column.

  12. also there is no absolute way i will put myself through the torture of watching canes/atl even though i have center ice package.

what i will do is come to rangers report tom night around 10pm and hope to see your words with a second life.

Must have been a tough day eric. You showed up four hours early for the game, only to be thoroughly embarrassed by the Rangers, who only showed up for the first four minutes.

  14. Well youse guys. I have to go make some bad eating decisions to soothe my wounded soul. See youse all tomorrow for the post-apocalypse complainathon.

DUKER… either drink heavily, or watch the drury special and fall asleep in 3 minutes

  16. >>Richards (Future Ranger)…Can’t wait until that counts in our column.

He’ll probably gaborik once he gets to New York. It’s either the water or the NYC lifestyle that makes these athletes suck when they arrive here.

  17. I want to play the Rangers, you guys can get in. It is a joke your down to the wire again. Torts is a mad man and the team just tunes him out.

  18. This was brutal. After the 15:00 mark of the first they had no offensive pressure much less a forecheck. Terrible game for Girardi and Staal, but the goat of the night is Avery. Is there a forward who is worse in the defensive zone than Avery? That play on the first goal was a Bantam level turnover.

Anyway they are buried. Carolina is not going to blow it. What a choke job!

I understand why people like Carp and others love this team and I do like the rebuilding job the organization is doing. They have a great young defense. However, there is no forward to build around in the organization. All their forwards are third or second liners (besides Gaborik, but he’s a whole other can of worms). In this league you need to have a blue chip forward to be successful. because of this, I do not see where this process is going. Likable? Yes, but this regime of Rangers will not be putting any banners in the rafters…. or play a playoff game this year.

    I’m miserable

I imagine you meant “you’re” and not “your”. Honest mistake.
