*       The Rangers will return to action when they face-off against the Boston Bruins in an Original Six match-up tomorrow, Apr. 4, at Madison Square Garden (7:30 p.m.), to begin a three-game homestand to close out their 2010-11 regular season schedule.  The game will be televised live on Versus.

  1. Bonehead Krisy will be on her flight to New York from Norway in 5 hours – her first time ever in NY. Let’s all hope she has a safe flight and a tremendously tremendous time during her visit. :)

  2. eddie eddie eddie on

the boys might need a few hours in the ole hot tub and then massive ice packs after today’s game…

  3. Fedotenko is going to have to bring the Hot Tub in his carry-on luggage for the “flight” home.

  4. Hartford, should be. Probably won’t be. But they will shoot T-shirts into the stands here in Nashville, er, New York City.

  5. Eddie – When he got injured and then got an appendectomy I began to realize that he is probably the lynchpin to this entire team. So underrated.

  6. eddie eddie eddie on

i wonder if NBC will pre-empt golf coverage with a newer update re: the skid

  7. don’t mind the occasional No. 2 joke — I am a Beavis & Butt-head fan, after all. But no need to get too graphic with it.

  8. No I am just joking around (as always). Seriously it’s impossible to offend me. Everyone here should know that. I will never take offense.

  9. eddie eddie eddie on

manny – not to mention …the tank has no lungs, liver, kidneys, or spleen…amazingg…

  10. Yea – Fedotenko is basically a shell of a human being but he plays so well.

  13. Folks, I doubt most of you will make through this week….Some lost it already :-)

  14. Eddie- WTB Manny’s the one that never gets offended, call him a prick. I’m actually very sensative.

  15. eddie eddie eddie on

no offense jbytes…but you are obviously no where near as puerile as me…

  16. Hehe — Carp, I agree with your slant of how the recent Garden crowd hasn’t been all that loud…that’s why I said “should” …with only three home games left let’s hope the crowd gets into what could be a do_or_die. LGR!

  17. eddie eddie eddie on

    dde – i was only teasing…its opposite day…you are actually not a prick….

  18. eddie gets points for “puerile.”

Puerile is one of my favorite words. I have a lot of favorite words, for no particular reason.

    man you guys are immature

dde – you dont know the half of it…:)

  20. No, no. He gets a legitimate point. But only one. Bettman took the other one away because he’s a Rangers fan.

  21. eddie eddie eddie on

latona – one of my favorite words is conduit – as in i conduit right now, i am busy…

  22. Jeez, the Hurricanes guy is taking the term “colour commentary” a bit too far tonight – he makes Prospal look like an albino.

  23. MickeyM is now stuck in Charlotte on

GUUUUUUUUYS. Thanks to Boston being a bunch on dunderheads, I’m stuck in Charlotte for the next 3 plus hours. Got to the gate as the flight was pulling away and they refused to bring it back, the byfuglieners! Then I got chastized by the ogre at the counter for using too many byfugliens and threatened with not making the flight if I continued to use them! WTB!!!

    GRRRRRRR, sooooo mad right now.

  24. eddie eddie eddie on

LW -hahahaha – yeah that guy looks like he has either seen a ghost, or is a ghost….

  25. MickeyM is now stuck in Charlotte on

but, seeing that the Rangers won makes me a wee bit happier. Thank the gods they pulled that one out.

  26. eddie eddie eddie on

mickey – good thing you didnt mention a byfugelin bomb or any such…you would have gotten 10 and a game misconduct

  27. I have too many to name.

Haberdasher, quackery, obfuscate, octoroon, Jewry, fishmonger.. plenty more..

  28. jpg's sister on

who should I cheer for between Carolina and Buffalo? Is a Sabres win the best scenario for blueshirts, then?

  29. eddie eddie eddie on

jpg’s sis – i want both to lose…but that would be tricky….que sera sera, whatever will be will be….

  30. Defenestration is perhaps the best word of all. It’s the act of throwing someone out a window. They ACTUALLY have a word for that. Amazing.

  31. eddie eddie eddie on

does anyone not think that the rangers cant beat filthy in rd 1?….i think rangers win in 6

  32. MickeyM is now stuck in Charlotte on

eddie cubed… I’m smart enough not to use that one word. Still plenty ticked though. At this rate I won’t get home til after 10 and I have to be at work at 8 tomorrow morning. Shoot me now, pls.

    Let’s Go Buff-alo

  33. Djokovic tops Nadal to keep his perfect 2011 record alive! 24-0

    That sucks, Mickey. :(

  34. Fully believe in the benefits of cross sport training. Gretzky played lax I believe.

  35. Funny how the people complaining about gimmicks in NY are the same people complaining about ticket prices in NY.

  36. MickeyM is now stuck in Charlotte on

Should I randomly start shouting ‘you suck’ at the tvs showing the canes/sabres game? I AM in Charlotte after all….

Wow, Staal played 34 minutes today? Dayum. Poor guy’s not gonna be able to walk tonight.

  37. eddie eddie eddie on

mickey – and a couple of nasty shot blocks…and a stick to the face….#18 is covered in ice ….

  38. MickeyM is now stuck in Charlotte on

eddie cubed- yesh, poor Marc. Someone give him some advil too.

  39. JimboWoodside on

Enroth should have fallen down when that goal was scored – Larose backed right into him, and he didn’t have much of a chance to see/stop the puck…

  40. Love Ivanovic! She is gorgeous, truly gorgeous. As is Djoko! I dont think they’re together together, but Ana – a fellow Serb – usually sits in Djoko’s box for finals if she has no other obligations.

  41. JimboWoodside on

Don’t do it, MickeyM – they might haul you off for observation – you already cased one scene there today! ;-)

  42. Negative Nancy on

Well, so much for checkin’ in for a little hockey insight!

I look at Torts from way outside the forest (as I do all hockey) and two
things stand out. Like his predecessors, he’s been unable to get his team
to execute an effective power play, two years and counting.

Unlike his predecessors, he’s been unable to get this team to win
consistently at home. That, in itself, would dampen my enthusiasm
    after this nice effort today.

I remain skeptical. Let this group show me its changed from the last ten
    or twelve Ranger gangs.

  43. Is anyone else concerned about Mama, or am I just overly-worried as usual? She was scheduled to be home this afternoon. Ill say this, Id rather Mama be okay than have the Rangers make the playoffs this year.

  44. JimboWoodside on

Maybe her transportation home was delayed, Tik – or maybe she’s enjoying a nice Sunday afternoon/evening away from a computer.

  45. JimboWoodside on

It looks that way right now, eric – hopefully Buff will grab a lead at the start of the 3rd, with the PP.

  46. eddie eddie eddie on

if the rangers dont beat boston tomorrow,,,torts will be fired…and the 77 yr. old john – get me a clue before i die – muckler will return for another brilliant tenure as phil donohue

  47. Let’s see these clowns win at home tomorrow night, then come back to me …

  48. eddie eddie eddie on

people talk about the cat’s genius…and keenan won a cup….but no one …NO ONE can replicate what john Byfuglucker did behind the bench…

  49. eddie eddie eddie on

the byfuglucker years were golden years to be a ranger’s fan….tix prices could have been $10,000 per…in the blues…and there would have been a run on them…..he was that great..

  50. eddie eddie eddie on

9-3-1 in last 13….byfugluckler would have been 13-0-0 just standing there….

  51. eddie eddie eddie on

the only thing that really stopped byfuglucker from gaining true acclaim…….were his military years….fighting along side george washington and those other great revolutionary heroes against the brits…

  52. Two question observations from a fan who went to the game:

1.) wells fargo center plays their in house music really Freiking loud. I felt like my ears were going to explode. Now I know why all my friends with flyers tickets all have bad hearing.

2.) for a team that considers themselves tough – Flyer fans really really bitch a lot about penalties. It was nauseating in the 3rd when they were screaming for a penalty every time a ranger looked at a flyer.

  53. eddie eddie eddie on

quiz question….which doesnt belong: corpse, moron, worst coach in ranger history, muckler, or a person with an IQ above 70?

  54. eddie eddie eddie on

joey…i bet you had the last laugh…good seats….have a great time?…..are filthy fan absolutely disgusting?

  55. JimboWoodside on

Buff is generating NO offense in this period – Enroth is single-handedly keeping them in this game.

  56. CCCP

The word “movie” is a derivative of the term “moving picture”, so if you are seeing moving pictures, it will indeed appear similar to a movie.

If you are seeing pictures of a moving John Muckler, I suggest you invest in a new TV.

  57. At this point, I just want somebody to score. Doesn’t matter what team, I DON’T want a three point game.

  58. I literally could deal with ANY outcome except a flippin’ tie! No three point games!

  59. It helps if Carolina loses, even it is in OT or shootout. Rather them lose in regulation, but a loss still helps.

  60. LW3H

LOL! But these pictures are moving way too much like a movie rather than a hockey game…

And if I see moving pictures of John Muckler, I’m changing my address!

  61. Carolina faces Detroit and TB at home among their 3 remaining games; both difficult.

  62. Buffalo better win in the shootout, and yes, shootout. If Carolina wins in overtime, that will be the WORST possible outcome. So that’s what I’m gonna guess happens, simply cause everyone screws the Rangers over, including the Rangers themselves.

  63. Wings might not even play Howard for that game, so he can be fresh for the playoffs. So, I wouldn’t get too excited.

Bruins, and Devils for us is just as tough as Wings, and Bolts for them.

Pretty even last few games for both teams.

  64. If we win tomorrow night against the bruins, we will be in a terrific position to get in. Tomorrow we cant bush-league it!

  65. YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SABRES WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Albeit in OT :(

  66. Noah-rury-(if the Devils make the playoffs)-Noah, 28 on

    BUFFALO WINS! Could’ve been worse.

  67. surprised it wasn’t goaled goalie interference
of if it was because was beyond the paint

  68. Noah-rury, 28 on

Oh and I can finally take the “Devils make the playoffs” part of my screen name.

  69. It could have been MUCH better. I can’t believe that non-regulation carcillo.

  70. yes will be there.
    sabres 90pts 35 reg/ot
    rangers 89 33

    canes 87 33

the rangers have lost the season series to both teams.

if we go 2-1 and canes go 3-0 we go home for the summer

  71. ilb

i just re-read my comment about
    “goalie interference”

i give you credit for making more sense out of
    it than it deserved!!

mean to say i was surprised it wasn’t called and then noticed
that it was probably not called because goalie was outside the paint.

    sheeeeeeeeeeeesh i’m tired!!

  72. anyone else on facebook?
and would like a free T. Rex show download?

    will provide if there’s interest.

  73. JimboWoodside on

So, what are the mathematics of this 3 point game and the Buff win? I know, if we win out, we can’t be eliminated from playoff competition, but failing that…….?

  74. Jimbo – The crowd tomorrow should be loud. The players should be ready. I think we should come out ready to play a full 60 minutes.

  75. CCCP – Krisy will be there from Norway – her first time in NY. You definitely have to see her :)

  76. JimboWoodside on

I hope the crowd will be loud, and be mostly RANGER fans! We’ve had a lot of “invaders” there lately.

Boston is still fighting for the top points position, so they probably will come out looking to get the 2 points from us.

  77. The crowd might be loud for a while, but then everybody will go back to their phones and blackberrys and to ordering food from the waiters and to trying to catch T-shirts shot into the seats.

Because NYC’s second most famous arena has turned into Nashville.

    I’ll be there Saturday, too.

  78. Carp, have I done something wrong?

If the crowd isn’t loud and trying to inspire the Rangers throughout tomorrow’s important game, and we lose, then the loss is partially on the crowd.

  79. eric- suggestion. nice cup of valerian tea for you. gently now, pull those tickets from your pocket. I will give you full face value. slowly now..easy does it..

  80. Noah-rury, 28 on

Carp, I think that’s a tad unfair. You’re lumping all the lower bowl posers that you see from the press area. The 300’s and up bring it most every night.

I’ve been to several games this year and have seen a lot of good crowds. To be honest…they just haven’t played that well at home!

I trust these last three games will be very loud. Even the fair-weather fans will realize that the season’s almost over and check their BlackBerrys 10% less than usual.

  81. Oh, if you missed the Carolina Buffalo game tonite, you missed one for the ages. It had everything. Continuous action end to end, speed on both sides with great hand coordination by both, great top speed passing and shooting on the fly, terrific goal tending, solid hitting and checking. To me it was the best played game I’ve seen this entire season.
( And I’d forgotten how really good a defenseman Corvo is.)

The winning goal in OT was actually anti climactic, because it was either team’s game, for that final point, but the action itself was the story here. Wonderful.

There was no quarter asked or given in this game, some chippiness but understandable, considering the stakes.)

I was captivated. Too bad they both can’t make the finals. THIS was what NHL hockey is all about.

  82. oh yeah
i was only to watch end of first period and a small part of the second period of today’s game
because it coincided with my lunch break.
got to see the two goals and pk.

for the superstitious in the crowd.
    yer welcome!!

  83. OH, one thing that I forgot to mention following the Flyer Rangers game………………………….

What has happened to Carcillo? No longer the poisonous little trap door spider that we learned to love to hate, he shuffles around now as though he
had to buy a ticket to get in. He’s been completely reduced to skating by people and glowering at them. Somebody, somewhere, did something really mean to him, and he doesn’t seem to have gotten over it. Just wondering.

  84. Noah-rury, 28 on

    Thank you jpg!

One of Several Boneheads Who Caused the 2004 ALCS Collapse

  85. just tired and in an obnoxious mood

i’ve been trying hard to stay away from all
    the superstitious stuff
    this year.
    not completely cured but……much better.

  86. JimboWoodside on

Maybe Laviolette told Carcillo that if he took any more stupid penalties and acted like an ass that he would be watching future games from the pressbox?

  87. if my negativity bothers people (carp) I apologize. when you care so much about a team you want them to succeed. this franchise doesnt have the track record for success so I am always assuming the bottom will fall out. it doesnt make me any less of a diehard fan and the fact that i buy season tix doesnt make any more of a fan then any of you.

im afraid of failure so until they clinch a spot i will assume something will go wrong

  88. I was one of the hundred Rangers fans up in the 200s of the Wells Fargo aka Wachovia Center today. It was a fun game to watch. We endured a lot of heckling from the Carcillo Flyers fans, but we kept on cheering on King Henrik and the team. We went crazy after the shootout. The Flyers fans were saying; “You’ll be lucky if you can face us in the playoffs”…..

  89. JimboWoodside on

The Flyers fans were saying; “You’ll be lucky if you can face us in the playoffs”

Yeah, but *they* might not be so lucky if we face them in the playoffs, and I think that they know that.

  90. JimboWoodside on

It’s amazing how our cast-offs always manage to exact retribution on us! Just amazing.

  91. LQ has been magnificent. I tend to have the mindset that by default, goals are not scored and therefore dismiss what a goalie does. But he has been great.

  92. Fran, the best game I’ve seen all season was a Detroit-Calgary game early in the season in which Zetterberg tied the game with 3 seconds left and Lidstrom won it in overtime. It was insane. Awesome watch.

  93. The only games that Zherdev plays hard or well are against the Rangers… because he wants retribution for Sather not signing his dumb skull to a bad multi-year contract… once we start knocking him around in the playoffs he won’t be so effective…

  94. Tiki, why do you ask that?

eric, it doesn’t bother me so much as confuses me. how is it enjoyable to be a fan like that? how are you not basking in this game today and the good position it puts your team? Ii had an aunt like that … if her team was up 6-0 and the other team scored late in the game she’d be going, “Oh, I don’t like this.” Where’s the enjoyment? I don’t get it. That’s all.

I understand the negativity after a game like the one on Long Island, but I don’t get the constant waiting for the other shoe to drop in good times.

    But, hey, that’s just me.

  95. Carp, Just asking. I hope I havent pissed you off again.

I agree. There’s no point in waiting for the other shoe to drop. Id rather hope for the best, even in the most dire circumstances.

  96. Someone please tell me that I’m not a pervert for thinking Julianne Hough is absolutely adorable in that Proactiv commercial. For other reasons I’ll accept it.

  97. She is beautiful, as is her brother Derek. Their parents had some great genes. She, unfortunately, is with Ryan Seacrest :(

  98. With 1 championship in 71 years, and not even coming close most of those years, I can understand the negativity. This is not an easy franchise to root for. But once you get pulled in, you can’t seem to leave.

  99. Stranger Nation on

Tom – one must remember that once you take away the ‘R’ and the ‘S’ all you have is ANGER…

  100. let me get this straight were 2-2 against carolina but they own the head to head tie breaker because we won one of the games in the shootout???

the nhl is a joke.. they want the fans to take the shootout seriously but then they totally discount it when it comes to the end of the season?? thats truly gary bettman like…

  101. Really??
what does “take the shootout seriously” mean?
We love the SO for it’s entertainment value (tell me you don’t, I’ll call you a liar) ,at some point you need a tie breaker, non SO wins sure as hell beats a coin flip? What do you suggest?

  102. i don’t see how the ducks player “caught” the puck and let it drop
in front of him and it rolled to his left is considered a “hand pass”
it’s even possible that his stick did touch it.

(of course the ref was watching in real time but i still don’t see
how it’s considered a hand pass if it wasn’t thrown or directed
    to someone else)

  103. Boom Boom Bathgate on

Buttman wants every team in the league to look like it is playing .650 hockey, in the standings. What a circus barker he is.

  104. Boom Boom Bathgate on

The Rangers have scored more goals than Washington, and allowed fewer goals than Washington, yet are 14 points behind Washington in the standings. Not even Einstein could have figured this nutty points system out. The Theory of Relativity was easier to define.

  105. “she was wearing something inappropriate” and Elmo hits his mark and starts rubbing one out

I apologigize people but this is Effing hilarious!!!
