Talbot’s up; Lundqvist out?

According to the NHL transaction wire, the Rangers have recalled goalie Cam Talbot from Connecticut.

Which probably means that Henrik Lundqvist might not be able to play tonight after, apparently, being hit around the kneecap by a shot last night.

Presumably, Talbot would back up Chad Johnson if Lundqvist can’t play, or at least back up Johnson.

On the other hand, this could all be stupid speculation, and perhaps Talbot was called up so Lundqvist doesn’t have to practice during this stretch of four games in six days.

We should know relatively soon, after John Tortorella addresses the media around 5. I will tweet anything that comes out of that presser, then update here asap.

  1. This probably means Johnson is going down to HFD to play in the Whale’s game tonight.

  2. ORR! I will be at the bottom ready to catch you if you jump. If you’re high enough your suicide could lead to both of our deaths.

As Kanye West says… “this will be a beautiful death…jumpin out the window…..”

    (not tryin to offend anyone)

  3. Actually, forget it. Some Australian Silver medalist jumped out of her building. I’ll have to figure out a different way.

I know, I said I was going to burn a tree if PAP scores. I’ll burn myself, along with the tree. I’ll be like that monk that set himself on fire. Since I’m in a tree, I guess that would make me a monk-ey :P

  4. >>Which probably means that Henrik Lundqvist might not be able to play tonight…

Which probably means the season is over.

[Hmm, I wonder how many times we’ll hear the word “rivalry” tonight.]

  5. And if anyone is still in doubt whether Hank should be a lock for MVP, just follow what’s going through your mind since it’s been floating that he could be out for tonight…

Thanks Carp for putting Girardi in the poll. Are we weeding people out around here?

Well, it seems we have Chad and his Johnson in goal tonight..shouldn’t be too hard to get the 2 pts.

The goalie position is way over rated… Least important position on the ice…left wing? Now that is the crucial position.

  9. Slewfooting next week for him? They need to recall a few guys from Wilkes-Barre for that purpose…

go slow at first, kind of ease into it! Don’t hurt yourself!!

Crosby’s mustache is very mainly… He must be on roids to grow such a hedge. How does he trim that thing anyway? Probably with a weed wacker. Go Chad and his Johnson … Let’s win baby.

  12. Goaltending is the toughest position. When the play is on the other end of the ice, you have an opportunity to scout the arena, and check out the various chesticles, and the next thing you know, the puck is behind you.

It takes a lot of concentration.

  13. It’s a great point Eddie. You don’t NEED a goalie to win. You can put another goalie on the ice. I have heard of teams using 6 men on the ice to score a goal in the last few minutes of the game if they are losing by any less than 2 goals. Martha? Can you get the stats on this one.

Manny – excellent point…to go empty net from the start is brilliant strategy. Other teams aiming for the empty net inducing many icing calls. The rangers, superb on the draw, would be in excellent position to do something.
