Well, two of the three games that affected your boys went the wrong way last night. One of the two most important games worked out great, when the Buffalo Baby Buffaloes lost to the Leaves and snapped their three-game winning streak. Carolina’s win, though, kept the Rangers’ playoff berth in doubt, left the Magic Number at 8.
So now nobody has any games in hand on the Rangers, who have six left, and the Rangers have a game in hand on the Habs.
The Rangers begin a streak of four games in six nights, and back-to-backs (at Nassau tomorrow). But, really, if they win tonight they are golden, aren’t they? Take care of business tonight and leave Buffalo to battle Carolina for eighth. The Former Whalers play Montreal tonight at home.
Here are the pre-game notes, courtesy of the Rangers:

THE PUCK STOPS HERE
Henrik Lundqvist was named the NHL’s Third Star of the Week for the period ending Mar. 27 after posting a 2-0-1 record, 0.32 goals against average, .987 save percentage and two shutouts in three games. On Saturday, Lundqvist stopped 26 shots in a 1-0 victory at Boston to establish a new career-high with his league leading, 11th shutout of the season, while appearing in his 400th career game. His 11 shutouts are tied for second in team history for most shutouts in a season, and are the most by a Ranger since John Ross Roach posted 13 shutouts in 1928-29. Lundqvist also posted his 30th win of the season on Mar. 18 vs. Montreal to extend his NHL record by recording 30 or more wins in six consecutive seasons to begin his career, and extend his franchise record by posting his sixth straight 30-win season. Lundqvist has appeared in 20 straight games entering tomorrow’s contest at Buffalo (beginning on Feb. 11), which is one game shy of his career-high, 21-game streak from Dec. 23, 2006 to Feb. 15, 2007.
40 WINS
New York won its 40th game of the season with a 1-0 victory vs. Florida on Mar. 22. It is the fifth time in the last six years the Rangers posted 40 or more wins in a season, marking only the second time in franchise history the team accomplished the feat (1968-69 – 1973-74). The Blueshirts are one of five Eastern Conference teams to have registered at least five seasons of 40+ wins since 2005-06 (Montreal, New Jersey, Philadelphia, and Pittsburgh).
STRONG RETURNS
Rangers’ forwards Ryan Callahan and Vinny Prospal rank first and second on the team in scoring, respectively, since returning from injury in early February. Callahan leads the team with 13 goals and 23 points in 23 games since returning from injury on Feb. 1 vs. Pittsburgh, following a 19-game hiatus due to a broken hand suffered on Dec. 15 at Pittsburgh. Prospal leads the team with 12 assists and ranks second with 17 points in 22 games since he made his season debut on Feb. 3 vs. New Jersey after missing the first 53 games of the season with a knee injury.
POWER SURGE
Since acquiring defenseman Bryan McCabe on Feb. 26, the Rangers power play has tallied 10 goals in 44 attempts (22.7%) in 13 games. McCabe has registered five power play points (one goal, four assists) over the span.
COMPARED TO LAST SEASON…
The Rangers have posted seven more wins and nine more points compared to last season through 76 games (34-32-10, 76 points in 2009-10), having tallied 17 more goals (218 this season, 201 last season) while allowing 25 fewer goals against (181 this season, 206 last season). New York has also shown a six-goal improvement while shorthanded compared to 2009-10 (11 this season, five last season).
AMONG THE LEAGUE LEADERS
The Rangers lead the league in hits (2,164), are tied for fourth in goals against (181), fifth in road wins (23), 12th in goals for (218), rank second in players with at least one game-winning goal (18), fourth in blocked shots (1,213), shorthanded goals (11) and shootout wins (eight), and fourth with a plus-37 goal differential.

Good game day morning, boneheads!
How’s the weather in Buffalo?
Gloomy!
Sunny in NJ!
Good morning everyone. Big game tonight!
Not first.
I am stuck watching this game at a birthday party tonight. If the Rangers lose tonight that birthday party will be ruined. Let’s go rangers!!!
Debating whether I should watch it on MSG2 in SD or on VS with no sound. Suggestions?
I am stuck watching this game at a birthday party tonight. If the Rangers lose tonight that birthday party will be ruined. Let’s go rangers!!!
***
Birthday celebrant: Manny, thank you for coming to celebrate my birthday.
Manny: Your birthday will forever remind me disaapointment and frustration.
If the Rangers know what’s right they fly in Stepan’s mom.
10th!!!
Miller not particularly sharp last night – gave up slapper from blue line on first goal.
Should be a fun game to watch.
Who sits tonight?
Game day, early morning, hattie
BAM!!!!
A cheap one at that…
CT – you are spot on! It’s actually pretty humiliating because it’s my fiance’s friend and she basically rearranged her entire party (she is now having it at Rogue) so I could watch the Rangers game because she knew I would never come if it was somewhere without a Hockey TV.
Do I have a problem?
CT – great point! I missed that one while responding to your first one.
I will pay for Stepan’s mom and sister to be flown in for this.
Article Care Of THE ONION (so it’s not real) – Also kind of tasteless but hilarious.
Report: Sidney Crosby Dead Of Intracranial Bleeding, Will Start Against Bruins
PITTSBURGH—According to a report released by the Pittsburgh Penguins organization Monday, star forward Sidney Crosby, who suffered a severe concussion last January, fatally succumbed to intracranial complications Monday at the age of 23 and is expected to make his first start in nearly three months tonight against the Philadelphia Flyers. “Late last night Sidney experienced a severe brain hemorrhage and was rushed to University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, where doctors were unable to revive him and he was pronounced dead at 6:30 a.m.,”† Penguins owner Mario Lemieux said in a statement. “We’re really looking forward to seeing ‘Sid The Kid’ back out there on the ice where he belongs, leading this team into the playoffs. It’s a hockey night in Pittsburgh!” Crosby is survived by his parents Troy and Trina and a younger sister Taylor, and, according to head coach Dan Bylsma, should get 18 to 20 minutes of ice time tonight depending on how he feels.
I would call that a hat trick but because no one is around it’s more like a “Free Skate.”
Ha, I work right around the corner from Rogue…. nice little spot! An Ainsworth with slightly better prices.
I have never actually been to Ainsworth – they always make it so complicated to get a seat in front of the television showing the game you want to want. It’s like they think their customers just want to watch any sports.
Rogue is a good time. Only on weeknights though. I went there once on a weekend and it was a shoot-show of underage kids completely over served and licking each others faces.
Definitely into the 80’s videos they show though/
i think its time we took nasty1 and mako off the ltir!! where are u guys?? its almost playoffs!
rangers will have maybe their toughest game yet tonight. the way we win this game is come out with a lead. no matter if its just a 1 goal lead. make buff expend even more energy than they did last night to try to tie. by the 3rd they might be gassed and we ould pull one out either ot or shootout. we probably arent beating them in buff in regulation. hope we can, but miller will not give up 4 like last night. TO was playing spoiler and is loose like the isles will be thursday. we will need to get the lead first though. i know we come back alot, but this late in teh season, whoever scores first usually wins. i really want gabby to step up here and win a few for us. these kids cannot carry this team in the playoffs. and we really need to get hank some goal support. he needs a little room for error here. this is a game i look for gabby, ec and prospal to be the best line out there and win one for us. they have to get gabby going or the playoffs could be very short
IMO, I said all along since the allstar break this team wasn’t going to make the playoffs. if the rangers lose this game tonight I feel there is a good chance they will not make the playoffs and end up in ninth place because it appears Carolina is going to make a push to make the playoffs. I truly hope I’m wrong and the blueshirts prove me wrong.
Me too!
Tonight is really the game that will define this season. We can be the team that closed out the first half – hard fighting, scrappy team that overcomes (almost) every challenge. Or we can be the second half team – the team that came back from the all-star break sucking wind and barely keeping their head above water. A win tonight would go a long way to securing a spot.
I wonder what the skid ate for breakfast this morning. Does he put his right sock on first or his left? What is his favorite color? Does he enjoy watching his teamates take showers? Prust asking….
Rangers just need to keep things simple… Move feet, finish checks, clear crease, go to the net, shoot the puck…
Where is that buffalo gal? Round the outside, round the outside,,,,
Stranger asked a good question before: “Which Forward Sits tonight?”
For my money I can only guess – I want it to be Christiansen but I think Wolski is a candidate. I think you need Avery tonight. You need all the “max effort” guys on the ice giving it their all. Avery can really focus on getting in the heads of the buffalosers and draw some penalties.
Eddie 3x (3 Posts) = Hat Trick upon Hat trick upon Hat Trick = Ovechtrick
The triple Lindy ruff, a great dive in back to school… Hat trick
Rodney Dangerfield! Eh!
“Whoah. You must have been something before electricity!” (classic Rodney eye roll and tug at shirt collar).
Manny… Ec should watch from the box… Holla at yo y’all…
And don’t forget , his poetic reference to checking out his Longfellow…
In the immortal words of Lionel, the train, Ritchie… Once, twice, three times an Eddie…
I’d say the game on Sunday carries just as much meaning as tonight. How will the Rangers play against a team that will be looking for payback after a humiliating loss in their previous meeting? In a hostile city where they’ve yet to win.
Prust gets a shortie tonight… Book it dano, murder I.
Well tonight is the biggest game of the season. Then tomorrow night is the biggest game of the season. Then Sunday is the biggest game of the season. And so on and so forth until 8 points are locked up.
I would sit EZ but Torts likes to have him around for the skills competition.
So we are back to MZA or Wontski or Aves. I would sit Wolly Bear against the BBBs. When in doubt, grind it out!
Will Gilly play a game again this season if we do not clinch?
Most importantly, have the Debbies officially out of it yet? I saw Parise was skating at practice – BWAHAHAHA. Thanks for effort Zac ol boy.
The sabres really didn’t look that great last night…they only looked marginally worse than the laffs, which looked utterly pathetic for most of the game. I couldn’t believe I was watching two teams vying for the playoffs. Gotta think Ruff read the riot act to Buffalo…the key will be to come at the Sabres physical and hard, then pummel Miller with shots. They’re not an overly physical team, and if they can get under the skin of the Sabres quick, it’ll be over before it began.
Gotta hope EC is watching via press box, but if I were to gamble on it, I’d say MZA grabs a seat again…which is a shame…I’d love to see him matched up against Nathan “the Gerbil” Gerbe. Mites hockey!
I think you need Avery tonight. You need all the “max effort” guys on the ice giving it their all. Avery can really focus on getting in the heads of the buffalosers and draw some penalties.
***
Buffalo is bottom half in the league in penalty minutes and bottom third in fighting major penalties. I seem to recall that when they met in the playoffs a few years ago they didn’t fall for Avery’s antics.
I don’t get MSG 2 up at school. TVGUIDE says Versus is also showing the game. anyone know if they have blackouts in NY area?
The women get excited, the money gets divided, now I’m broke. It’s no joke, it’s hard as heck to fight it… Don’t do it…governors corrected, athletes rejected, gangsters – theives – and smugglers are thououghly respected…
Well if Avery cannot draw penalties at least he can grind it out with the other grinders. Let’s stay away from fancy footwork tonight.
Ainsworth is not great for hockey games. Go toward MSG and check out the Flying Puck…they’ll probably have the Canes/Habs game on there as well.
Noah – you mentioned that place once and I have been meaning to check it out. I am a bad person for not doing it yet!
Per every 60 minutes, Avery draws and takes equal amount of PIMs.
Good morning, Carp!
ilb, it’s actually a lovely & sunny day in Buffalo! Perfect day to crush some baby buffaloes.
Phil, MZA vs Gerbe… yes please!
CT- You’re probably right (I assume that is a real stat even). It makes sense. I guess i just see him being a contributor tonight when we have some weird hangover in the second and need somebody to really dig the puck out and keep some pressure on.
I’m taking it from behindthenet, which is kind of like baseball’s equivalent of Baseball Prospectus.
That’s cool. I usually use the hockey-reference (as well as baseball-reference). I am way more of a stat nerd in baseball than hockey.
hockey-reference is good for traditional stats, I use it a lot too. I like the csv download functionality, although it’s a pain to have to sort from text to columns every time.
behindthenet does the Sabermetric-y type stuff like Corsi, GVT, QualComp.
Wow. That’s pretty awesome. I will have to check that out. I always wish I took more math (statistics) courses in college now. Could have been useful! Who knew.
The math behind it isn’t that difficult. Mostly division or multiplication. It’s more about taking a wider scope to measuring the effectiveness of players. Instead of the narrowly defined “shots on goal”, they’ll track “shots directed toward net” and then scale it based on the players that are on the ice. Similar to how on base percentage takes a wider view of a players ability to not make an out rather than batting average.
CTB
although it’s a pain to have to sort from text to columns every time.
Use a Macro
One of these days I’ll get around to writing one and then a few more depending on if I’m using team or player stats.
Most important game of the regular season! Let’s get it done, boys!
RE: Team MVP – Henrik Lunqtwist! who else? He’s irreplaceable!
He’s irreplaceable!
***
You won’t be saying that when I find a way to get 1970’s Tretiak onto the team.
hey…if you have to dig that far back and that deep?! Then he’s definitely irreplaceable!
P.S. That’s a great compliment you just gave to Hank! {thumbs up}
Ok, mid to late 90’s Dominik Hasek.
Hopefully these clowns won’t blow it … I can just see us not making the playoffs
Ah, Pimp, that ray of optimism.
Yo Pimp – I think we ALL can see that. There is a sense of uneasiness in here after last season.
Nothing like a shot of positive vibe by the Bush-league master himself! :)
Hasek was great! But Tretiak was better! :)
Yeah but look at the players that Tretiak had in front him then look at the players Hasek had in front of him.
What up ‘heads? Huge game tonight!!! Get ya popcorn ready!
Does MZA play? Who sits? When in doubt, grind it out! (Stranger, I like that!)
Sally, MZA vs Gerbe would be one for the ages, although I don’t want MZA to hurt himself fighting!!
LGR!

Dude at least spell my name right if you’re going to troll.

c’mon man! doesn’t matter who plays in front of you, you still have to stop the puck! :P
Plus, have you seen the teams Tretiak had to play against? ALWAYS against best players in the world!

You’re talking about his practice sessions or the occasional Canada Cup/Summit Series? Not like he had to face NHL players in the Olympics.

Tammy Troll – yet again. You can tell because CCCP doesn’t have a link as his name.
Carp? Little help?

Oh you lovable homophobes from Canada. Have fun getting tossed around and swept by the Bruins in the 1st round. Thank Bob Gainey for us for Ryan McDonagh and just remember the Scott Gomez era will be over in 3 more years!
Manny, Carp will take care of business…
I like my name as “Mannyfriend” That’s pretty clever!
M
Thanks NYR. You on top of it, Mon.
Oops, next time you troll, make me at least laugh, you moron, BTW, Hope he’s at least cute.
Nice try but I never, ever use Internet lingo such as “BTW”
Carp, Troll = Manny, later fellas.
You’re talking about his practice sessions or the occasional Canada Cup/Summit Series? Not like he had to face NHL players in the Olympics.

ouch man…very ouch!! You know he’s the best! :P
Greetings all Heads Del Bones-
Big game tonight – everybody on deck!!
LGR!!
BTW – I found some footage of that piece of carcillo Cooke from hie high school days:
http://dfw.cbslocal.com/2011/03/29/high-school-hockey-players-will-be-held-accountable-for-brawl/
I’m just saying, the Red Army team was just a tick better than the likes of Alex Zhitnik, Richard Smehlik, Jason Wooley, et al.
Manny – The Ainsworth has great food but unfortunately, higher prices. Lets just say, the local talent is strong to very strong.
Have fun.
LETS GO RANGERS!
Speaking of Manny – Any word on Manny Malhotra?
manny et tu brute?....give me a P, give me an R,,,,give me a U,S,T….prust, prust, he’s our man if he cant do it no one can…
http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=360010
the great kansas song…Prust in the wind
Eddie 3x – nice one. I like that cheer. Maybe we could start the first all dude cheerleader team.
I heard Malhotra’s surgery was successful.. I think it will be a few more weeks/months before they know if he will be able to regian his vision/recover…Just guessing…
and stevie nicks’ lyric….”gold prust woman bring your silver spoon, dig your grave”
Those are all pretty impressive pulls. I will have to take a few weeks to come up with a rock song with “Prust” in it.
manny – and an all boy band…i will be the straight one…..also the rapper…Prusta rhymes
Prust in the wind…all we are is prust in the wiiiiiiiiiiiiiind….
..and from neil young…...Prust never sleeps….
I wish I was Prust in the wind…
LOL! Eddie, you crack me up dude…
Yo y’all
Hey, Sams7, you asshat. You’ve been banned again. Now I am referring your IP address to our legal department. You cowardly piece of cooke.
Carp! you saved the kingdom once again. Nice job…
Now….onto real business….
In Prust we Trust.
I’m just saying, the Red Army team was just a tick better than the likes of Alex Zhitnik, Richard Smehlik, Jason Wooley, et al.
LOL yes, “a tick better”
But you can’t deny the fact that even though all those Soviet teams had an amazing offensive power, Tretiak was still their best player. The Soviets never really recovered after the Tretiak retirement.
Is anyone else having trouble suddenly with their CENTER ICE package?
Carp just Prusted that troll.
And my personal favorite…here comes Johnny yen again, with the liquor and drugs, and the flesh machine, he’s gonna do another striptease….prust for life, I have a prust for life
well, I’m just a modern guy
of course, I’ve had it in the ear before
I have a prust for life
‘cause of a prust for life
an iggy pop Masterpiece
oopps my last post was mean for CTBlueshirt
i forgot to separate his comment from mine!
“I’m just saying, the Red Army team was just a tick better than the likes of Alex Zhitnik, Richard Smehlik, Jason Wooley, et al.” < << His comment :)
Good morning, Sally! Have you seen Dubinsky in town yet?
by the way, Sams7, thanks for the extra traffic, and notice I didn’t completely delete your imposter comments, so I didn’t lose my $1.50 per :)
sam7 – my brutha, what be ailing you?....why you be all whacked?....mother-prusta…be cool, dont be a fool
According to Zip, via our twitter widget on the right, same lineup tonight. As I suspected. Coaches rarely make changes after a game like the one in Boston. And Avery deserves to stay in for another game, at least.
Carp – your rapper name is “Ca$hflow”
The Soviets never really recovered after the Tretiak retirement.

I would have gone with the budget busting arms race toward the end of the Cold War and domestic policies such as perestroika, but Tretiak retiring is a good choice too.
ricardo – i didnt get a chance to post yesterday during the day…but your write before the hugh grant signing was an excellent piece of writing that had me going…uh-huh…uh-huh….brilliant stuff, mate
The Soviets are so adaptable though. After the Cold War this company “Sovtek” took all their leftover tank and ammunitions parts and made guitar amps. I own one. It might be my favorite amp ever made.
Dang! I miss MZA already…but all I want is a win!!!
The Hobbit Wizard will live to fight again! Long Live the Shire! Long Live the Quest!
my favorite part of the pizza….the prust, of course…
soviets…brilliant in math (universal texts – Andrey Kolmogorov series) and and engineering….but during the 70’s, the amount of poorly made goods..like mis-matched shoes, as example…laying in inventory storage was beyond the beyond
CT
LMAO! That’s a good one!
Perestroika was fun!! Hard times…
Manny (being Manny), I know this is hard for you to believe, but I don’t really rap much.
Although I do dig some of the good rap—I really do. Most of it, though, is C-rap.
good lineup for tonight…prefer if ec sat, but oh well, ring the bell…...MZA needs to work on a new shootout move as the old one has gone stale….i love the kid, tho…lotta heart
Well Carp – if you ever choose to rap or do anything that needs a moniker feel free to use Ca$hflow. That is a gift. From me to you. Mazel Tov.
My friend and I wanted to start a rap group focused on boxing and the MC names could be:
“Cashless” Clay and “Lettuce” Lewis
MSG 2… UHHH! NO HD! It’s garbage… what’s on MSG and MSG+ that is preventing the RANGERS who play at MSG not to be in HD!!!
Oh yeah, I play Avery too… sit EC
I’d guess the Knicks are on MSG and the Isles/Devs on MSG+
Anyone know if Versus will be blacked out in the New York area? I’d much rather watch Versus in HD than MSG2, which always has the feel of a high school game.
MSG2 is the worst. Time Warner puts it on channel 197 also known as “GAME 2” channel. It’s a joke. Mine cuts in and out all night. Good thing I will be out watching this game at a bar with real cable access.
I don’t know if Versus will be blacked out. I doubt it because MSG2 is so crappy but then again, money talks and BS walks…
rangers do play, a game today, dont you know, buffalo, need the 2, yes they do, its a must, brandon prust, scores a shorty, hank looks sporty, avery in, commits no sin, goalie named miller, aint no thrilla, i like vanillia, MVP, you all agree, it be the king, words i sing, wearin bling bling, most improved, in a groove, it be bolye, he will foil, wires will coil, water does boil, cally gets the C, next yr youll see, the other A, goes one of 2 ways….could be dubi, or no. 8, i cant wait, dont be late, big game slate…i am ready, my name be eddie….its 3 times, like my rhymes?....lets go rangers, sabers are dangers, away in da mangers…..score a goal, chew some skoal….brutha…
I would think it is blacked out due to broadcasting territory rights or something or other.
thank you..i be at the apollo all the next week…boyeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Turn my mic up!
That’s what I thought, CTB. In which case, I may have to find an establishment that has the package.
World War, Russian Revolution, Russian Civil War, Stalinism, Great Purge, Great Patriotic War, Cold War, Khrushchev Thaw, 1965 reform, Stagnation, Perestroika, Glasnost, Dissolution (hope i’m not missing anything)
Soviet people or Russian people or people born in former USSR (you pick one), have had no choice but to be adoptable!
And on top of all of the mentioned above, for many years, we had to wipe our behinds with newspapers! Talking about adaption…eh? :)
Carp = monster of ip blockage
LMAO @ C-rap!
And on top of all of the mentioned above, for many years, we had to wipe our behinds with newspapers! Talking about adaption…eh? :)
***
They had the NYPost over there too?
According to my father, at some point you also had to be careful which newspaper you used for that purpose, CCCP….
Time Warner Cable’s Channel Listings currently show the Rangers/Buff’s game in HD for Manhattan customers. Cautiously optimistic as they usually already have alternate programming listed.
http://tvlistings.timewarnercable.com/tvListings/
Jalen Rose got arrested for a DUI!!! YES! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! BOOOOOM! That piece of cooke carcillo!
I gather he spend some time in Massachusetts, one way or another….
spent…
Who hasn’t driven drunk in their lifetime? It’s like high-sticking – we all do it and if you get caught then you get in trouble.
No, ilb. Im not like that anymore. Just because you’re from or play in Mass doesnt mean you’re a bad person. Blogmama spent a great deal of time in Mass. :)
I just checked, he didn’t….I had no clue who he was.
Ilb – Jalen Rose is like Derek Rose but not as good.
Thanks, Tiki…Now it’s all clear. Except, I have no clue who Derek Rose is either :-)
We will need all the support for tonight’s game- Linda, GregL and everyone else who hasn’t been around much lately. And where is Orr?
Manny – I’d be careful making that statement. Some people, on this very blog even, have lost parts of their family and close friends to people taking “gambles” with both their own lives and others.
Comparing high sticking to driving drunk is both in poor taste and a poor analogy and this is coming from someone who both avoids and fears the moral high horse.
LETS CRUSH BUFFALO TONIGHT. Stepan notches another as does AA and of course, Callahan.
I cant wait for Rangers hockey!! And then in 24 more hours…!!!
Tiki is over that Boston thing, right Tiki?
CT, ah, the good old days when people wiped with newspapers. Then toilet paper came to be, and the newspaper industry went down the toilet (so to speak). So now I know who to blame for the doom of newspapers.
And I thought it was the internet.
Sorry Dudley (and others) – I am also in the category of people who have lost multiple family members from drunk driving. Including those who ended their own lives and those whose lives were ended by others.
Just throwing it out there that we have all done it. As stupid, irresponsible and reckless as it is.
The comparison to high sticking was one I made yesterday – not the crime/penalty itself – just the result. When you get caught the penalty is usually based on the result – blood = 4 minutes and if you get arrested for dui without injuring someone the penalty is less severe than if you did injure someone.
Tiki : 23 hours and 58 minutes and counting….tick…tick….tick…
Carp – Yes, I am over the boston thing. I can dislike their teams and my experiences there without being a bigot.
Atta boy, Tik.
Gee I can’t wait for MSG2’s update(s) on Sidney Crosby.
lets go rangers….
Manny- I hear ya and fair enough…. I had a good idea where you were headed but I know it can be an extremely sensitive subject for some.
Almost as sensitive as Brodeur loving caress when he gets hold of a twinkie!
watch the skid tie his skates…watch the skid pull his sweater on…watch the skid do reall cool stick drills…..watch the skid pick his nose and eat it (when he thinks no one is watching)
HUGE game tonight…I’m all sorts of nervous.
A win puts the Rangers in a VERY comfortable position with 5 to play.
A loss puts them in a very UNCOMFORTABLE position considering we know how much the Isles and Debbies are gonna be primed to hopefully play spoiler on us.
I’m hoping after a 3 game scoring drought that the Rangers explode for a couple early and get the pressure on the Sabres. I DO NOT want to try and come back against Ryan Miller.
I’m glad that Cally has come out and stated how important it is for the Rangers to win this game. They need to have a swagger tonight. Come out with some fire.
And regarding earlier posts…yeah, if Stepan’s mom could make it to the game that’d be great. :-) Quite a nice woman. It’s also pretty sad that I’m now at the age of looking at players’ mothers instead of their wives. JEEZ!!
But I’m happy to know I’m not alone. Not with this group of pervs and boneheads.
Hey Carp, was thinking of you while watching Seinfeld last night. Mandlebaum!
Luckily, I haven’t lost anyone within my family to drunk driving. But I’ve seen way too many lives lost to it in my life. And most of those were innocent young lives who were passengers and victims to someone’s stupidity.
By the way, the latest on Malhotra is that the surgery went well and it will take 6-8 weeks to determine whether it was fully successful. Not surprised. Stanley Chang doesn’t operate on simple peripheral, not complicated retinal detachement. It must’ve been an extensive one, or it involved macula (the yellow, almost cenrally located part responsible for direct vision). Let’s just hope everything goes well and Manny has his vision back. Hockey becomes secondary at the moment.
Wiping your backside on an iPad causes a hell of a mess too. I almost got thrown out of the Apple Store for that.
Dudley and everybody – totally understand! Sorry for any offenses.
tonight = 2 much needed points – actually a 4 point game.
refresh, refresh, refresh !!!
Hopefully our swagger doesn’t = a piss-poor, two-bit effort by no-talent clowns who look like they’re trying out for middle-school theater rather than playing in the NHL.
re: drinking and driving….manny, i know what you meant…..in my younger days….sure have a few and off you go…these days, however, i dont get behind the wheel even after a taste….now, eating 10-20 vicodin and driving…that’s different JUST KIDDING :)
Yeah, LW3H, not surprised. You’ve soiled a few places in US too. Including the Pebble and the Worlds Most Reconstructive Arena.
Wiping your backside on an iPad causes a hell of a mess too
———-
there’s an app for that too? :)
Your willingness to be reasonable makes me feel guilty Manny. Knock it off ;-)
pimp – my brutha…..how yo girls?....know what I’m sayin?
by “my girls” you are referring to the New York Rangers?
Oh man. Zing-a-roosky.
Miami- we will need a bit more of your sophisticated bashing tonight, it’s an important game. Whatever you’ve created so far counts as a bit more than a bush-league :-)
well….not exactly…....what you sellin aynways?
Yes, wish Manny the best. Recovery and sight back. My cousin had retinal damage when she fell off of a team building pyramid at work event. Hers wasn’t extensive. She was very lucky.
Tonight’s game t is Extremely important. Hope I get back in time for 1st period. I’m going to a birthday party, too, but for a museum here.
Let’s Go Rangers
should say Jjpg’s sister.
jpg is going to a concert tonight. I’ll text him the score throughout the game.
ilb – the pimp cares deeply about the NYR, its his girls that get neglected…..can you even imagine that stable of babes?....shudder at the thought….
Not just any babes Eddie 3x….Miami Babes.
Hey, it’s an inside joke, boys. Miami knows. The more bashing he produces before the game, the better chance they have to win. It’s an important game, he is asked for more sophistication…
ya know the game is a big one when crocket and tubbs come up from Miami to share the dark cloud of despair.
Last Buffalo game was a stinker so we need to come out strong, play the man, don’t get caught up ice, bang the boards, grind it down low, protect the crease, bang it home, pin them deep, be strong on our skates, rip the twine, put the biscuit in the basket, snipe a corner, go five hole, play a full three periods, take the body, and for goodness sakes…win the game!
You play to win the game!
Actually, I’ll take it back. Today’s is already more sophisticated than amateur hour statement he generally produces :-))
”...she fell off of a team building pyramid at work event.”
And Ricky DP just needs that one to complete the full set too.
Put that biscuit in the basket! I love that saying. That’s great.
I just spit turkey chili all over my cubicle upon reading it.
And Hank has to waffle-board everything coming his way, SN
I will bring my best foot forward tonight … unlike the Rangers, who’ll probably crumble under pressure like Redden does when faced with a gaping net.
Now you’re talking, Miami…
my favorite cliche – the rangers really came to play toinght…..no kidding…
Anybody know aboot this “Stephane Da Costa” Slats is trying to sign?
Oh, by the way, I think Step-On’s mom and gf will be at the game tonight.
Does that mean hat trick?
Let’s just hope we aren’t watching the Mickey Mouse Club tonight…right, Miami?
Sally going to the game ?
Oh she will be at the game? That means he is good for a goal. I don’t like the Girlfriend being there. Unless his girlfriend is his sister. She was good luck.
Orr, he is a Frency from France!!
That wasn’t Step’s sister…she is his GF!
Good news!
Frenchy*
step’s mom is hot
Step’s mom = oh, la, la !!
Of course, the phrase “put the biscuit in the basket” originated from the habit established in the mid-90s for the Devils’ training staff to add an extra triple-choc cookie to Brodeur’s post-game hamper for every goal he conceded during the game, as a means of improving his mood.
crockett and tubbs…too funny
Wait really!? That was his Girlfriend? I was kind of thinking is sister was hot.
LW3H – unreal. amazing. fantastic.
St?phane Da Costa – The Italian kid from France…
tony – truer words were never spoken…
Some we’ll have a Fretalian and a Norwalion
Weee!
And yeah, that chick who was at the first game of the season was his girlfriend, like NYR said. Or maybe it’s his sister/girlfriend. If you watch Glee, you must be into some kinky stuff.
Mother + girlfriend + sister = HAT TRICK
Orr,
Da Costa is the top college free agent. he is a center who plays at Merrimak. french canadien, I think. speedy skater offensively gifted. 2 years eligibility left.
I swore I remembered them calling her his sister. Maybe she even looked a bit like his mom? Creepy. The plot to the Derek Stepan Story thickens.
As usual, Tony doing some thinking without his pants on.
Yeah! Plus who’s mother hugs their girlfriend? That’s unheard of, at least in New York!!
Da Costa = Gilroy
Da Costa= asset.
LETS GO RANGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now, that’s a plan, Linda!
I wonder if these college FA signings the Rangers are making are basically to restock the AHL with younger players that won’t count toward the veteran player limit. Nothing wrong with some risk/reward signings, but I don’t know how many of them are expected to make the NHL team.
Are you not working today, girl? Or are you done with EHR conversion?
too hot for pants , gonna be in the 90’s today.
CT,
apparently every team in the NHL is after Da Costa. he is well thought of.
He probably wont sign here.
He’ll sign with a team that he’ll have more of a shot at playing for. Unless Slats overpays him.
Well if every NHL team is after him, then he definitely wont sign here.
i heard ron duguay has been sending step’s mom pics of little doogie…
He could certainly be a legit prospect, I was just thinking of the signings the Rangers have made of late. Tom Grant and the large goalie dude.
hugh grant – meet miami pimp
Lmao ilb!! On luncH break right now! This place is killing me lol! Can’t wait to get home, relax, and watch a Rangers victory!!!!
Manny, Tick…tick…tick!!! 22.5 hours!!
This is day 5 w/o Mama! Only 3.5 more days til her return!
Orr – from what I understand, Da Costa is a pretty highly coveted forward…rookie of the year last year…a playmaker(and center) who’s been described as “dynamic.” He’s put up some real sick numbers in the NCAA…I’d take him…
Da Costa ? wonder what his mother looks like .
original john lennon lyrics…
Prust, i need somebody
Prust, not just anybody
You know i need some Prusssssssst
when i was younger, so much younger than today
I never needed prust’s help in any other way
But these days are gone and i am not so self assured
now i find ive changed my mind and opened up the doors
prust, help me if you can, im feeling down
smack that punk all over town….
I’d take a glue stick over any player on the roster right now.
I’d take him as well, these are the good kinds of risks.
It’s not like he’s coming in with a NTC, so we’re good to go. But, like I said, I doubt he signs here.
This team is full of young forwards, with a few more in the system that could be legit. Maybe he’s not interested in “getting in line” with the rest.
There you go, Miami….
Bienvenido A Miami! Get it.
According to TSN, it is real iffy that Sid the Skid will be able to get back into the lineup this season (regular season or playoffs). http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=360104
In related news, Gary Bettman was spotted atop the George Washington Bridge and is threatening to jump :-)
Tiki…......22hours and 20 minutes…...tick….tick….tick
Hey – I’d definitely take the gamble on Da Costa. I remember reading about him last year. We need all the skill players we can get. The younger, the better…more competition in camp is a good thing!
Young. Think REALLY young. Sign some 11 year olds. If the NCAA people do it…..so can we!
I’d rather be tortured by Jack Bauer and drink Bud Ice than be forced to watch this atrocious team play tonight.
atta boy Miami !!!
anthonyM – no doubt, that is not music to the commish’s ears…
LOL! Bud Ice!
Who makes Icehouse? That beer always confused me.
http://www.onionsportsnetwork.com/articles/report-sidney-crosby-dead-of-intracranial-bleeding,19835/
Do they still make Bud Ice?
Prust in the sky with diamonds…and j. lennon’s classic…number 8, number 8, number 8…..
Tony – See above where I posted that article for all to see with Bold headlines and everything. Sheesh. Making me look stupid over here! What happened to us?
who drinks bud?...now smoking…..different story entirely…
I am the eggman, they are the eggmen.
I am the Brandon Prust, goo goo g’joob g’goo goo g’joob.
Goo goo g’joob g’goo goo g’joob g’goo… (etc.)
Eddie….I know what you be sayin about bud, brutha…
if prust stared hard and long enough at skidney’s macho mustache it would melt off…prust sayin
Sorry Manny. I’m a little slow today.
my brutha – nyr_fan – know what im sayin?...............imagine no prust, i am not the only one, imagine no religion too…...imagine all the prusts….
Eddie 3x – I think Prust is grand enough to go by “THE Prust” at this point? You in? He is more of an enigma than a person at this point.
Tony – it’s fine. I am just joking around! I am glad other people saw that. I got it emailed to me on my iPhone and didn’t see the onion part so I thought it was real and he was coming back and was sooooo confused.
“THE Prust” – I’m in
Tiki, I’m proud of you…you have been acting like a gentleman albeit without top hat and moustache, but we can’t have everything, right? As such:
Mao’s Minor League Extravaganza reports that the great Tiki has been called up from the farm system once again.
When asked how things were down there he remarked, ‘’Feels good to get the call, but there is a guy down there who constantly yells, ‘fire sather’ for no apparent reason. It does, however, make you feel good about yourself when you see such lunacy.”
That guy is prolly never coming out of the minors. BWHAHAHAHA!
Manny….21 hours and 40 minutes!!!
I am feelin’ it Tiki. I can almost hear John Sterling’s Voice (is that nervous nausea?)
Can we get some score predictions for tonite including game winner?
I will start with a 3-1 NYR triumph – Dubi smokes home the winner
The Prust
Prust wins 3-1. He scores the winner. The third is an empty-netter for McDonagh.
manny – absolutely…..someday when we are dreaming, deep in love, a lot to say…..things prust will remember, be the only one, love me all the time prust…., we go on and on….i am just a lucky prust,
and lovely prust, lovely prust, lovely meter prust, nothing can come between us…filling a ticket in his lil white book….when you come take some tea with me….lovely meter prust…where would i be without you…lovely prust, meter prust…
LGR!!!
Rangers 4-1, THE Prust gets GWG !
stranger nation,
4-1 Rangers …gabby gWG
The Prusts 2 buffalo 0…..
Rangers win 4-2. Sauer w/ the game winner. Dubi gets an empty net after Hank holds off a Sabres rally.
Other goals: Anisimov and Stepan
Hopin, anyways. lol
LMAO @ tortured by Jack Bauer!
youve got to hide your prusts away…hey, youve got to hide your prusts away…..hearing him, seeing him, prust punching you will find a way….
Tonight’s game plan – score early, score often
Does King Henry get an assist tonight?
another prust who love us till the end, thru thick and thin, prust will be our friend, for i have got another prust…..another prust,,,,
Another one bites The Prust and another one bites The Prust and another one gone and another one gone….Another one Bites The Prust. Hey He’s gonna get you too! Another one bites The Prust!
Oh, no doubt Miller will be sharp tonight.
I say McCabe gets the winner tonight.
manny – dont forget about that lovely english babe…Prusty Springfield, who sang “son of a Prusty Man”
So, I’ve been coming up with songs all day. And this is all I have, mostly because I am a fail.
A Matter of Prust – Billy Joel
Prust Wanna be with You – Enrique Iglesias
Prust a Dream – Nena, of 99 Luftballons fame
Diamonds & Prust – Judas Priest
I love Prusty Springfield!
I am also a big fan of “A Matter of [The] Prust.”
Latona – and dont forget Joan baez’s Diamonds and prust
and bob dylan’s tangled up with prust…
We could combine interests around here and use Depeche Mode Lyrics:
“It’s a Question of [The] Prust….It’s a Question of [The] Prust…It’s a question of not letting all that we’ve built up crumble to [The] Prust. It’s all of these things and more that keep us together.”
from star wars…MAY THE PRUST BE WITH YOU
Weird day here today.
....and get the prust right….be responsible, respectable stable, sound the caring, help the helpless, but always remain ultimately Prustlish
Eddie- I think it’s from Spaceballs…
Question: Who do i start in my NHL Fantasy league tonight? Callahan or Gaborik? Only one spot available.
from REM – I am, I am, I am prustman
ilb – cage match…all 20 buffalo skaters in one corner…...Prust, alone, in the other…....you know who walks out after its over….
Eddie Cubed going bonkers!! How can you not love the E to the third power? (E)(E)(E) ...fun with polynomials and Prust!!
cccp – start the PRUST…he will scre a shoty tonight BET ON IT
THE PRUST: Street Prustice.

I wish Prust was our dictator. We could have his picture everywhere and his quotes. Our nation could run on the motto “it’s just pain.”
“I’m going to make him a Prust he can’t refuse”
“I’ll get you my pretty and your little Prust too”
“I always rely on the kindness of Prust”

I’d prefer Miller in net. We make backups look like gods.
Didn’t we make their backup look that way in the last game?

Ryan Miller out tonight…might’ve been hurt in last night’s game.

Miller not in Buffalo’s lineup tonight, according to WGR Radio a few minutes ago. He was hurt in last night’s game in Toronto. Enroth to play tonight.
hey carp – is this blog on Prustbook?
No Miller is a good Miller
NHL Power Play just said WGR Radio Buffalo announced Miller not starting tonight. Enroth in net.
Sorry, Jimbo, didn’t see your post.

ok…back to earth…that was fun
All this prusting gave me a headache.
I think today made me hate Prust haha.
(JK, that would never happen.)
Ryan Miller : “Is THE Prust playing tonight” ?
Lindy Ruff: “sure is Ryan”
Ryan Miller : “I think I have a upper body injury” !
No problem, Latona – I didn’t see Eddie3’s post, or a couple before his reporting on “tweets”. I got the info from NHL Power Play, too. I guess I was typing while Eddie was posting!
I saw that shot that Miller took in the game last night, and I thought of Beer-On’s injury. Miller took a wicked shot to what looked like his collarbone area rather late in the game.
I wish Lalime (Lalame) was playing instead of Enroth…
Orr – Roddick’s revenge is Brooklyn Decker – guess she doesn’t mind balding washed up tennis players. She’s got some really enormous….elbows.
Enroth in net! Good for us!
do we clinch playoff spot with a win tonight?
No, magic number is still at 12 I believe.
Wow! I’d like to live in Brooklyn! ;-D

nerves starting to amp up….its nearly go time…
i think magic number is 8, no pun intended…
So I’m watching the game with a couple of former colleagues, at a Buffalo bar in East Village. I brought my heritage Callahan jersey to represent though.

There are Buffalo bars here in NYC? Why?
Would you really want to stay in Buffalo?
Our magic number is 8.
jimbo – i think we all should move into brooklyn
Cw – Carp talked about writing the schedule as a fall back when needing to bull dog a deadline. I guess that Yahoo piece is considered the new version of pasting the bloggers/writers comments and submitting as an article.
Any piece that has Damn Girardi as the possible brains of the team is discounted from the beginning.
LGR!
Hahaha!!! No, I guess not, CTB – I just was wondering how an establishment becomes a “Buffalo bar” here in the city – I’m thinking that the owners would want their place to be known as representing someplace more “glamorous”!?
CTB, I’d much rather be in Brooklyn, if given the chance!!
OK, Eddie3 – might get a bit crowded there in Brooklyn, but WTB, you never know!
I can’t explain why, but there are plenty of bars in the city that are identified with other cities. Woogies in the W. Village is a Philly bar (they serve pretty authentic cheesesteaks). The Riviera also in the W. Village is a Boston bar as is the Hairy Monk in Murray Hill. There’s a bar a stone’s throw from MSG that’s a Pittsburgh bar.
well the bandwagon has been gearing up for a while now…personally i think we’re still building and a few year away (with a few more pieces from the pool of Hagelin, Kreider, Thomas, McIlrath, V-Tank, Pashnin, wow we have great prospects, etc). but its good to get some respect around the league for a change.
looking forward to tonights game, too many days off since the last one!!!!!!!
Interesting, CTB – thanks for the info. I have heard about the Philly and Boston bars, but Pittsburgh and Buffalo seem to be more unlikely to have a presence here.
Yeah, he’s one lucky bastard. That Decker is a babe. Those gonzagas bring tears to my eyes.
You’d think that would motivate him to win a big tournament, but it never does. The shame!
I don’t get why she likes bald guys…depressing…
(in their 20s)
Well, to be fair, he wasn’t balding when they met.
That’s what happens when you wear a hat for every tennis match. I think he even wore a hat during the night games. Serves him right.
And someone gets hurt.
Sorry, that was supposed to read: Rangers lose tonight. And someone gets hurt.
Looks like Miller wont be in goal against our boys tonight!!! 57 minutes to game time!
500th? wow, lots of traffic ‘round these parts.
LETS GO RANGERS!!!!!
