It’s Go Time!

Ya boys on a five-game winning streak, seven of eight. This would be a good one to put right in the bank, with seven remaining after tonight and the next four on the road.

Marc Staal is expected to return. Matt Gilroy and Sean Avery expected to be prucha’d.

Probable lines (guessing here):

Lundqvist in goal for his 19th straight (unless they want to stuff that 6-foot-8 kid between the pipes … just kidding)

Hey everyone! 2 big points tonight kids!!!
joes got his leer going on very early tonight… YIKES

  5. All, a set the date reminder…

Bonehead picnic April 8/9…whenever you can make it, before or after game. I’m beach bound Saturday morning (yeee hah!) but will post info when I return April 4…and Carp, bless his soul, will post info, too.

Come celebrate! If a bonehead from Norway can make it, you can too!

  6. Sally, you better get there!

Ouch, this is nice, but the anthem folks are also kinda hurting my ears.

  7. Mama, wish I could be there. It’s not looking too good for me getting there in May. Actually, it’s not looking good for me having any kind of time off this summer at all. We’ll see…

  8. Did he say Boogaard’s been skating? I didn’t think he was skating when he was healthy.

  9. Carp, I see you are going to Albany this weekend. You need to go to Hot Dog Charlie’s for lunch or dinner some day. Best hot dogs in the area and you can eat like 20 of them since they’re tiny ones.

Mmmm, now I want some of those…

  10. It’s like being at the game tonight…… announcers. Don’t have to listen to Denis Potvin spewing BS all night.

  14. Sorry, couldn’t post. Had to wipe off the tears from hearing that Drury was teaching Callahan leadership

  15. Multitasking? Good for you, Sally. I’m good. Work has been insanity recently, but got 2 trips coming up I’m looking forward to, so all is good. The really nice weather down here earlier this week helped out too.

  16. well……………….been an interesting first period.
just got a phone call from my editor
that due to correspondent budget getting slashed
i’m laid off for next 2 weeks.

    hey Carp or Mama

well, been trying to work on cover letters

  19. jpg, wanna write some papers for me? I can’t pay you, but I can sneak you food from my job.

Mickey, what’s “good weather”? Where are your trips to?

    Paper finished!

  20. Every minute of this kind of game gives Sens more and more confidence and idea that they can have Rangers number.

  21. JimboWoodside on

No, jpg……I think they’ve both been warned ahead of time to keep it quiet….of course, if the B’s get one more, Habs might get nasty, but they aren’t that kind of team..

  33. Sally, it was 80 on Monday and in the 70s on Tues and Wed. I’m off to Nashville this weekend and to Boston late next week/next weekend.

Guess Sauer and Smith really wanted to fight..

sounds like a good idea. all i know is Anchor Bar.
actually head up that way every so often
for concerts or a visit to Seneca Casino

jpg’s sister is rabies free………just has a touch of laryngitis now.

  35. maybe Prust had too many teammates partying with him

YO ORR , gimme a link to the game plz dude!!!

  44. Mickey, he may know anyway, but you telling Carp where to get the best hot dogs in town may have endeared you to him forever. In fact, i am craving one now.

  45. so what? It’s one goal…Maybe our boys will start actually playing hockey in the 3rd?

  46. What now? Start fighting for one point. One goal in a such a stinking game could weight a lot.

  47. Mama, they are a local specialty. The chili sauce they put on them in amazing and yummy. Fries are pretty good to. If the games are where I think they are, he’s only like 15-20 minutes from the nearest place, at max.

  48. ZzZz NYR ZzZzucco " TIME FOR THE PUSH!! "...says Greg L. on

Nice !!! Thanks ORR , I knew I could count on you!!

  49. JimboWoodside on

This team is at the bottom of the East!? And we can’t buy a goal against them?

  50. Gaborik is back. No benching I guess. Torts wasn’t watching this game. Maybe he was scoreboard watching?

  51. Oh, my…now, that is
Game is over, Season is over…
    sorry it’s ORR prerogative.

  52. Blue Seat Horror on

Lundqvist may not be getting any games off, but it looks like the rest of the team has taken tonight off. I go away for a week and they play great. Come back and it looks like they’re taking a nostalgic trip through Reddenville. WTB?

  53. that guy head on the Rangers commercial

Greg Campbell now fighting with Paul Mara…Mara will be suspended for life after this!!

  55. i remember meeting him after the sabres game
at the old Buffalo Aud the season
    after we won the Cup.

can’t remember if we won but if we did he was
about the only player who played well the entire

told him that and recall how he downplayed it.
don’t know if it was modesty or unhappiness at the game

  56. JimboWoodside on

I second that emotion, Mickey! But not the patented 3rd period where they rally, but fall one goal short!

  57. see what happened??!?!?
all of you complained about how boring the florida
    game was
    and now we get this!!

at least with the panthers game we looked interested
    and pretty much in command.

this time, we look like we partied too hard the night before at
    W77 with Prust and Avery.

  58. HOLY CARCILLO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    that was sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo nice!!!!!

make out with whoever you want Mr. Prust

  59. i like how Hank didn’t even pay attention
and then Eminger hits his head on the crossbar

  60. not for nothing, but re: earlier chat about Prust/Page 6.

It’s Page 6. And the Post. Um, enough said..

Still, kinda cool our boy has been become gossip worthy :)
    oh, I am a hypocrite, but mostly a Prustbyterian…LGR!!!

  61. gotta give Gabby credit for tying up the stick
    in front of Hank
or it would have been 2-1

  62. I bet you Torts learned some Slovakian profanities. And used them appropriately during the second intermission.

  63. JimboWoodside on

In the old days, a blowout like this would take about an hour for the last period to be played, because the brawls would be never-ending!

  64. Oh I missed the gossip…til now :)

She was Nona on the Adventures of Pete & Pete, one of my all time favorite shows! Iggy Pop was her father on the show, how cool is that.

  65. Mama
i would like to see Staal
    with Eminger
    rather than Girardi

don’t know what the other complaints
are……..besides him letting guy get passed him on the
first goal. he made a great play on Prust’s goal
but Rangers have a problem of waiting too long
to shoot and becoming too close to defender — Staal and Dubi, 2 examples tonight

  66. JimboWoodside on

We don’t need to be playing end-to-end with them now……slow it down, guys!

  67. JimboWoodside on

Who is this Ryan Shannon!? Doesn’t he know that there should only be one player with two Irish names – Ryan Callahan!!

  68. bull-carcillo non-call! Isn’t that the whole point of the delay of game rule? To avoid an awkward stoppage of play in the 3rd period of a tied game? WTB?

  69. JimboWoodside on

Well Auld is in net now – he’s only a Vezina candidate when the Rangers play against him!

  70. TheMessiah94 on

Hopefully Boston has used up all their goals tonight and won’t have any left on Saturday.

  71. jersey rules…………..ottawa plays holds on to
McD’s stick and McD gets the penalty.

  72. Sally, your take on Dubinsky taking on 2 guys at once for the third straight game? :)

    late PP!

  73. N.CountryNYRFan on

jpg if the d men came in to join the scrum the faceoff would have been outside the zone

  74. Mickey, I didn’t even know he did that! But it doesn’t surprise me because he is Little Man and he does Funny Things!

Also, I’m wearing men’s deodorant and I smell Good. LETS GO RANGERS!

  76. JimboWoodside on

Dubi was checking his beak in the penalty box after that scrum…….looking for blood, I guess…

  77. N.Country

i thought it was a matter of coming into the zone
kind of like if the goalie passed the red line
    during a major scrum

  78. Hank heard that if he does well tonight
Prust might let Michelle Trachtenberg make out with him

  79. JimboWoodside on

Sens played a really good road game…..too bad most of these players will probably be dispersed in the off-season!

  80. This game makes me fear for April….but I’m getting ahead of myself not being positive :)

  81. No more Jimmer makes me sad

Skillz comp though! A blind man could have picked this shootout lineup

  82. N.CountryNYRFan on

jpg, i think that whenever there’s a scrum near the goal if the dmen join it only means the faceoff comes out of the offensive zone. I think our dmen just wanted to make sure that since it was late in the game we had keep it an offensive zone faceoff.

  83. ZzZz NYR ZzZzucco " TIME FOR THE PUSH!! "...says Greg L. on

GO RANGERSSSS!!!!! you can do it!!!!

  84. JimboWoodside on

The D-men had to stay at the points, or else they would have gotten called for a penalty.

  85. Blue Seat Horror on

Nice tackle by Lundqvist on Shannon.

Why did Biron have to break his collarbone?

  86. the Inevitable!

thought we were going to have a bad game
    at some point soon
but thought it would be against
a team better than us in the standings.

maybe boston will hate montreal so much that they’ll
    let us win on saturday.

  87. EC set the tone of that shootout by missing wide with his shot…it was all downhill from there…Blech…

  88. carcillo, carcillo carcillo! well, we got 1 point and are still playoff bound….but no helmet nuzzles or stick salute. And I’m done til April 4…..sob!

  89. really wonderin’ wtb is with Zuc.
he seems more into roughing it up than scoring
and he’s been less than zero on his past few shootouts.

good moves but hasn’t lifted the puck on any of the attempts.

  90. The better team won tonight and the Rangers should count themselves lucky to gain a point. They basically showed up for about 15 of the 65 minutes of play.

I’m clearly not an Avery fan, but OMG, Christensen’s lack of spunk equates to that of a sickly 95 year old man. I don’t care if occasionally he and Gaborik appear to have chemistry – farm this POS out please!

  91. the opponents know the shootout moves of Wolski, Zucc, and EC now. they are not fooling anyone anymore. time for them to work on some new dekes

  92. JimboWoodside on

I mean, Prust is playing out of his head, but we’re in trouble if our only goal scored comes off his stick…

  93. jpg, Caribbean bound on Saturday for a week :) will miss you all and the boys, but also kinda not….the beach and rum punch will solve all my ills :)

  94. JimboWoodside on

Whoa!! Have a great time – maybe you can catch some games on Armed Forces Radio, if you have a receiver..

  95. At least they got 3 out of 4 points in the last 2 games. Could have easily gotten none.

  96. NYR.FAN: Yes, but you can map out his inconsistency: He plays well for a game or maybe a game and 1/2 and then sucks for 5. What’s the point? If he was 22 and still finding his way, sure, cut him some slack. But he’s 27 and on his 4th NHL team and acquired by the Rangers via the waiver wire. There’s ZERO reason to believe what you see isn’t what you’ll get. So stop hoping you’ll see what you aren’t getting.

  97. JimboWoodside on

EC sucked tonight, but so did most of the rest of the team…..why is he the scapegoat? He didn’t lose his man on his defensive coverage.

  98. that was one ugly ass game heads. last 2 games have been pretty lousy. not playing a full 60 and this is what happens. no way should a team fighting for playoffs have to go to a shootout with th sens. they have 1 player. spezza. thats it. and a mr potato head face goalie. cmon!! is anyone else just watching the game and thinking about all the things they have to do tommorow instead of getting into it? i was. i really couldnt get into that until late 3rd period. and one more thing, why on earth is Ec or wuskki?\ shooting before our 7.5 mill sniper? isnt he supposed to be a freakin goal scorer??? anyway, doesnt matter. shouldnt have made it that far to begin with. but we will make playoffs without teh shootout anymore!! bye zucc, u were a nice little novelty for awhile

  99. I will say this: If the Rangers show up against Boston like they did tonight and to a lesser extent the Panthers (cuz that effort wasn`t exactlly overwhelming) they will get their asses kicked.

  100. Two completely underwhelming games in a row from the Rangers…lucky to have grabbed 3 out of 4 points.

They better find that gear they were in just a few games ago.

Hate to think the obvious…are they looking ahead of themselves in the standings and forgetting that the playoffs are still up for grabs?

  101. Rhode Island Ranger on

Frustrating not to get two points tonight.

But, on the bright side, the Habs won’t be able to look one another in the eye after the shameful no-show in Boston.

The Bruins, on the other hand, now have a stranglehold on their division and are lovin’ life again. They might still be drunk come Saturday afternoon.

  102. Sigh. I gotta go niters. I’ll post a a reminder tomorrow, but I’m Caribbean bound Saturday for a week….no tech while I’m gone, and that’s not bad….but when I get back…for April 4 game, I’ll remind you all of bonehead picnic plans for April 8/9…

mama love….see you tomorrow for last of my brilliant thoughts :0

  103. Jimbo: EC isn`t the scapegoat, but I`m sick of watching him float 4 out of 5 games. I get why Tortorella wants to dress him – there`s no one in the lineup capable of centering Gaborik and EC truly comes the closest, when he`s on his game, which is like 20% of the time.

It annoys me to see Tortorella shorten his bench because a player or 2 isn`t working and tonight`s game was the 2nd time in 3 games (Pitts being the other) where he dropped to 3 lines because EC was disinterested.

It`s time for the Rangers to accept EC for what he is: A player with considerable more talent than heart, but not enough talent to justify the patience.

    Good flippin` riddance!

  104. CJP, we are playoff bound! now hush :)

    and that’s a wicky for the baby wicky’s b-day :)

OK all, TA! fade to black…..see you all tomorrow. LGR!

  105. Blago, trust me…I’m not as bummed as I sound. But these last two games against “inferior” opponents were painful to watch. Especially after their success against “superior” teams.

G’night all…let’s hope the Bruins have a letdown Saturday afternoon and we get back on track.

  106. i wont let this ot loss ruin my night. this could be the point that gets us in the playoffs. rememebr those words of wisdom my friends

  107. JimboWoodside on

I hear you, Jim – but he’s on the team now, and as you said, nobody else does a better job than he does on his line, *when* he decides to play – and despite the last few games, he’s usually good in the shootout.

If we can get someone better than him next season, fine – but while he’s with the team, I think he gets singled out an awful lot for bad games, when all the players are playing poorly.

  108. JimboWoodside on

Gabby wasn’t in the shootout because he’s not a good shootout player, for whatever reason. It’s like Jagr – he wasn’t worth a damn in the shootout, either…

  109. JimboWoodside on

Seems like the team has a real problem with this Anderson guy – he’s beat them 3 out of 4 times this year.

  110. Thank Jimbo and all! I’ll still be here tomorrow though.

Folksetc., I also have really good cat sitters, for home and here.

  111. EC drags down Gaborik. EC loafs, so his wingers follow suit. as soon as they put Stepan with Gaborik, he started hustling.

  112. Slatsko Folkyerself on

What I meant was, while the cat’s away, the Rangers Play…

    Yeah, That’s it…
