It’s Go Time!

And the contest is now closed. No more entries. Thank you for playing (or not playing).

Rangers at Sharks in another big one — aren’t they all now? Here’s the question for the NNs (Negative Nancys): Wouldn’t you rather be where the Rangers are right now, in a playoff spot with teams chasing them (lousy teams, I might add) than where they were last year … which is to say, needing to go 7-1-1 just to make the last game of the season matter?

Looks like Sean Avery and Steve Eminger will be prucha’d. Erik Christensen is de-prucha’d, and will start with Marian Gaborik and Vinny Prospal, in another desperate attempt to get Gaborik going. He and Christensen (and Prospal) have worked as linemates at times before, and they seem comfortable together, and while that line has zero grit, it can’t be any worse defensively than when Avery was on it.

And though I am not one of those who are high on Avery … I thought in the past that he has been a difference-maker at times, but not much this year … I still believe they will need his grit and agitation down the homestretch. More than Christensen.

Lundqvist is in goal.

After tonight, we in the East turn our clocks ahead and lose an hour of sleep *(I never lose an hour of sleep; I just sleep later;  in fact I may sleep two hours later and actually gain an hour of sleep), and the Rangers will have just 12 left, including home games against the Islanders and Canadiens next week. That might be a good time to start winning home games.

GO TIMEEEEEEEEEEE!!! Yo Carp I made it just barely on that last thread eh?

WOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO gotta love ” GO TIME” !!!!!!

  2. >>That might be a good time to start winning home games.

That might also be a good time for Gaborik to start carrying the offence. Boyle, Dubinsky, Callahan, all have done their share.

  3. Yea Orr, Pat Flatley’s eye’s just aren’t right for TV…and Dugay wearing a tie, Maloney with a goatee…its hinky!

  4. Izzy Mandlebaum on

Why don’t they just move the clock a half hour and then leave it alone all year?

  5. It’s interesting that no one is asking for Umberger to get suspended. The only difference between his play and Chara’s is the fact that Drew Doughty wasn’t severely injured.

  6. How can they still come out so sluggish?? Theyve been out in sunny california and have had the last 3 days off

  7. this shark team gets more favoritism from the refs than any team in the nhl. the high stick is not called , then goal.. the hook by Mitchell is not called, but Gilroy gets called for doing the same to him

  8. I don’t want make up calls refs. Try making the right call the first time. OPEN YOUR EYES!

  9. If this team miraculously sneaks into the playoffs, it’ll be because the other teams falter.

  10. Wow the san jose commentators just said AA has tremendous balance and powerful on his skates !! Ha

  12. >>Wow the san jose commentators just said AA has tremendous balance and powerful on his

They’re probably seeing him for the very first time.

  13. >>Vinny Props = First Line Center next year !!

I’d rather have be be First in Line to be cut loose.

  14. N.CountryNYRFan on

two 2 on 1’s and not shots on goal. Torts needs to to them to put everything on net

  15. >>Ya EC is terrible…

I believe he needs to use his skills more and be harder on the puck.

  16. Mao_Bring Your Byfuglien A-game on

im prolly most optimistic here, but rangers need 2-1 lessons in both directions…

  17. Seriously. They play soooo much better when i watch the away broadcast. Looks like i wont be paying Sam and Joe a visit anytime soon

  18. First! SAFE IS DEATH! on

Hank to mike Sullivan after the first period, “get those damn defensman outta my effin way or I’ll sick my dobermans on them”

  19. Rhode Island Ranger on

Prust, McD and many others have brought the mustard. Blind refs have the Rangers POed. Like ’em this way. Looks like a real hockey game tonight!

  20. Faceoffs only 12-4, Sharks that period. It just seemed like it was 16-0.

I know I can’t convince the haters, but Gaborik’s really moving tonight.

  21. ZzZz NYR ZzZzucco " Lets go Rangers!! "...says Greg L. on

I’ll order a bowl of two points with a cup of 2 pts on the side!!!!

GO RANGERSSSSS , lets pour it on these MUTHAS!!!!

  22. wtf is up with alll the non calls? seriously? and what is wrong with that guy and his “—–” wearing the same coat?

  23. It’s Bill McCreary. Do you need any more explanation? When is this bias going to be obvious?

  24. in all honesty u can miss holding, hooking, w.e………. how do you miss 3 high sticks???

  25. This is just meant to be a funny visual and make others laugh: A SJ Shark could strip the clothes off Henrik and not get called for a penalty by McCreary and crew.

  26. First! SAFE IS DEATH! on

Gaborik plays like gaborik 10% of the time and like valeri kamensky 90% of the time

  27. you can score when #7 Wallin is on the ice. he stinks. both Ranger goals have been scored while he lost the puck and his man behind the goal line

  28. Evening gang.

Late to the game for me, was out and about all day. Walked in just in time to see Sauer score. Me likey that a lot.

  29. hey not to be a negative but does anyone wonder when they watch Heatley what Dan Snyder couldve been in this league? again nothing against Heatley he is a great player

  30. First! SAFE IS DEATH! on

So does this game not suck to watch because there is no neutral zone trap?

  31. Didn’t realize we had Steve Thomas’ kid in our organization. Leading the OHL with 54 goals, not bad.

  32. Only against us does a goal get saved like that. That’s 3 times in the past month it’s happened.

  33. That’s a reason why I say it will be extraordinarily difficult and near impossible for us to win the Cup again. A lot of hockey is luck, and we have the worst luck. We even lost our backup due to a freak accident in practice. I should be appreciative we’ve (knock on wood) never lost Henrik in his tenure. However, he suffers from migraines, which could be considered bad luck.

  34. N.CountryNYRFan on

everytime staal & OPG are on the ice there is a grreat scoring chance against us

  35. WTB, 12 games left, the Rangers need the urgency/desperation as in the last minute of a game trailing by a goal, NOW and every game remaining.

  36. Is anyone else as sick as I am of Dave Maloney’s deliberate mispronunciation of Matts Zuccarello’s name? At first I thought it was just a mistake, but he’s done it dozens of times every game for most of the season. Would it be ok if La Greca or any of the MSG anchors started referring to him as Dave Maroney?

  37. Sharks crew just informing us that the Rangers missed out in Game 82 last year in a shootout. Is Greg aware of this?

  38. Another penalty! Rangers are playing with fire. They’re swimming in shark infested waters with an open wound.

  39. Having all three forwards trapped behind the opponent’s net is not a good formula for winning.

  40. “Three penalties against us

One powerplay, with four missed high sticks.

    Love the officiating!!”

Occam’s razor – Keep financially troubled teams in the playoff hunt as long as possible ; )

  41. lol there couldve been like 20 penalties called on both teams in last 2 minutes. none called.

  42. Great point well-deserved, well-earned. Dubisnky did everything right on that last offensive possession EXCEPT backhanding the puck at towards the net at the end. That could’ve turned into a break the other way and disaster. Just put it behind the net along the boards when you’ve done all you can do with it, as Dubi had.

  43. That was the most obvious “Play for the automatic point” third period ive ever seen

  44. Matthias%Koala on

How big are my chances to win the contest when i said 4-3 in shootout instead of 3-2 and I have the right player ????

  45. WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

  47. That’s a Henrik victory. That’s the Henrik we need every single game. We get this Henrik, the rest of the NHL better watch out.

  48. Take THAT, NHL schedule maker! You tried to derail the team with this stupid end of season road trip.

  49. Olga Folkyerself on

That was two TOUGH points. With all the other scores tonight, I think we’ll all sleep well tonight. Even if we lose an hour…

  50. CapeBretonRangerFan on

Same here CCCP, if only Artie hadn’t lost the puck! Only problem is…how Would I get to the game? I live in Nova Scotia.

  51. their video coach obviously studied the ranger shooters in the SO. they were waiting for the usual moves by Zuc and EC. they did not fool them at all

  52. we had bettter win that shoot out we had him beat every time just didnt finish
good thig for Wolski and Dub there

  53. jpg's sister on

What’s TGO’s line? I paraphrase. You don’t make 100% of the shots you don’t take.

I forgot to enter the contest. When my brother, JPG asked me what I thought the score would be? I said 3-2 Rangers. I could have been a contender. oh well…

I’m so happy for the win and two points. It’s okay.

    Congrats to whomever won.

  54. Wolski with the big time serious money goal- Dubi never gets a chance if WW doesn’t score with all the chips on the line

  55. We’ve just watched the entire match. I’m not sure why we need this Bill Pidto “recap”.

  56. >>LMAO @ everyone who said we’d lose.

We knew what we were doing. You have to give the other team a false sense of superiority.

  57. just went through previous post and here are potential winners

Rangers had 22 shots Sharks with 33

i think Lev_Rangers wins again! this kid MUST go out and buy lottery tickets!

Rangers 3, Sharks 2; GWG Dubinsky; Rangers Shots 29, Sharks Shots 30

    you’re welcome, Carp :)

  58. Always thought that the tying goal/run etc was generally more important, pressure filled than the winner that got all the glory

  59. TheMessiah94 on

It’s really sad that I HAVE to mute every commercial with Craig Carton in it. That voice….

  60. I had 3-2 w/ Dubi GWG, how many shots on goal? I think I may have lost it there: Rangers shots-38, Sharks shots-24.

  61. ZzZz NYR ZzZzucco " Lets go Rangers!! "...says Greg L. on

Ahhhhhhhhh nice to return with anutha win…Im the Rangers lucky charm!!!

Playoffs or bust baby!!!! We need to win on tuesday too!!!!!

  62. Thanks for the tally CCCP. I thought the Rangers would come out firing on all cylinders after the clunker in Anaheim. I was overly optimistic with my SOG. Bummer, I was going to take my daughter to the game. Glad the team got the two points and we stay in the PO picture. Made it worth it to stay up and lose the hour tonight!

  63. I had dubi lol

    DCloutier39 March 12th, 2011 at 1:59 pm
    Rangers – 3
    Sharks – 2
    GWG – Dubinsky
    Rangers shots-26
    Sharks shots-27

  64. Ria (the silent bonehead) on

Orr Maloney started his playoff goatee last week said it stays as far as the Rangers go so lets hope he looks like Santa come June !lmao

  65. Lundqvist wasn’t bad in the last game either… he had no chance on any of the stupid deflection goals that went in from our players.

we’re 3-1 in the last four if i am not mistaken :)

  66. Olga Folkyerself on

If you want a last that will last a long time then the last you want is the last of it’s kind…
