Newbury up, Wolski out

Wojtek Wolski is not expected to play tomorrow because of his sore ribcage. So Kris Newbury is back up.

Here’s the official announcement of the transaction from the Rangers:

New York, February 16, 2011 – New York Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced today that forward Kris Newbury has been recalled from the Connecticut Whale of the American Hockey League (AHL).

Newbury, 28, registered three points in two games this past weekend, including a two-point performance in a 4-1 win at Providence on Sunday (one goal, one assist).  He has recorded eight goals and 33 assists for 41 points, along with 98 penalty minutes in 49 games with Connecticut this season. Newbury leads the team and ranks seventh in the AHL in assists, ranks second on the Whale in points and fourth in penalty minutes. He has registered a team-high, 11 multi-point performances this season, including two separate streaks of three games with multiple points – November 13 vs. Springfield to November 19 at Springfield (six assists), and December 3 at Providence to December 11 vs. Manchester (one goal, six assists).  The 5-11, 213-pounder established a career-high with an eight-game assist streak from November 28 vs. Adirondack to December 17 vs. Worcester, recording three goals and 12 assists over the span.  Newbury returns to the Rangers where he has registered one assist and 35 penalty minutes in eight games this season.  He made his Rangers debut at Montreal on January 15, and recorded his first point as a Ranger with the primary assist on the game-tying goal in a 3-2 shootout win at Atlanta on January 22.

The Brampton, Ontario native was originally San Jose’s fifth round pick, 139th overall, in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.  He was acquired by the Rangers from Detroit in exchange for forward Jordan Owens on March 3, 2010.

only one CL result is “shocking” Barca v Arsenal…

Arsenal is a pretty good club but Barca is better and i expect them to come out swinging in the second leg. I wish that 2018 WC in Russia was played now while guys like Arshavin, Kerzhakov, Pavlyuchenko and such are still young, but…

and Shakhtar Donetsk is a great young team with loads of talent! They won UEFA Cup two years ago and will definitely make a lot of noise this time around.

Btw, Donetsk, has some of the most beautiful women in the world! True story!

  2. The Rangers haven’t been winning lately b/c Boyle and Prust are finally coming back to earth. The fact that the two have them have been so good, this long is a mini-miracle in itself and something the Rangers cannot rely on going forward. Not to mention that Del Zotto can be terrible, at times, in his own end…

  3. Wasn’t a shocking CL result. Arsenal have been playing good football, were at home, and Van Persie is playing some of the best football of his career. I absolutely love Arshavin. He’s so cute and adorable and smiley and awesome. He loves fashion and clothing, and really sexy voice.

This is unbelievable. Ive just clogged my 2nd toilet in just over a week in NY. Very upsetting. Wait til the family Im visiting gets home. They gonna be peeved.

Im sure they will too, 3CP. They will not be held scoreless at home, so Arsenal will likely need an away goal to advance or need 2 goals to go to extra time tied at 3-3.

I contribute a good number of his goals to luck and increased playing time he most likely wont see in the years to come. I expect Boyle to get something like 17 goals 15 assists next season instead of the 23 goals 16 assists he is on pace for this season.

  6. Tough to gauge with Boyle since he’s outperforming all his past trends. His shooting pct isnt that far off from his career average he’s just been generating more shots than he ever has. I think he’s also been placed in more of a defensive role since people have started to return from injuries and thus playing against other teams stronger lines. A 25 goal season isn’t out of the question but I don’t think he gets 30 if they continue to use him as they currently are. His numbers will get a boost though if they use him on the PP.

Orr, I thought he was banned because the comment where he used the name ‘hulk hogan’ disappeared from the comments and that’s why I thought Carp banned him. Either way, I think he knows where he stands with you :)
