My favorite Brandon Prust fight? That’s easy.. it’s a tie, between all of them.

  3. I wish baseball season didn’t start for another 6 months.

I hope there’s a work stoppage and a strike in the NFL.

I hope the Rangers don’t have another game for an entire month.

  4. GOALS for GAB-orik- Keep reading Prust!! on

Good morning tiki!! i hope your lungs have recovered.

I’ve been trying to scale back on the Prustisms… but they just keep coming.

I can’t wait to -watch- not watch the ASG. Snoozefest. I’d rather play Call of Duty. Or NHL11. I’m doing the GM mode with the Rangers, and when I entered the pre-season, my roster defaulted Redden and Drury to the AHL. lol. I got crazy cap space!!

  5. GOALS for GAB-orik- Keep reading Prust!! on

BTW… Drury’s pants are ripped in the video game too. Weird.

  6. Good morning Gab! LOL! Your Prustisms are awesome!

Am I the only NFL, football fan in the world that wants there to be no season next year? I have to imagine the answer to that is “yes!” :)

  7. 52.1 Slew-footing – Slew-footing is the act of a player or goalkeeper using his leg or foot to knock or kick an opponent’s feet from under him, or pushes an opponent’s upper body backward with an arm or elbow, and at the same time with a forward motion of his leg, knocks or kicks the opponent’s feet from under him, causing him to fall violently to the ice.

52.2 Match Penalty – Any player who is guilty of slew-footing shall be assessed a match penalty.

  8. I see P.K. Subban being interviewed on NHL Network and I wanted to reminded everyone of the clear NHL rules… :)

  9. GOALS for GAB-orik on

Prust beating up somebody who runs afoul of him or his teammates isn’t justice… it’s Prustice.

  10. Eric Staal is very good looking.

Im surprised at all these NHLers not being dressed extravagantly. They all look pretty plain in their suits, nothing specatcular about any of them.

Kevin Weekes is extremely good looking, and a remarkable dresser. He always dresses nicely.

  11. Did anybody read this article in the New Yorker about concussions? It focuses mostly on the NHL but the results (Scientifically speaking) are horrifying. I think these studies are going to really change the “hits to the head” discussion. In the NFL (which will NOT play football next year, sadly) and the NHL because the NHL has more concussions a year than the NFL. The NFL averages 9 a weekend!

  12. NHL All Star Red Carpet thing is “fancy”!

I thought JR was a bit racist when he asked Bufyglien to rap something only to find out that Big Buff is a country boy lol

  13. I think that puck will forever be in Michael Leighton’s five-hole.

Next, FBI forensic experts will help to solve the mystery of what happened to Chris Drury’s career.

  14. NHL is going out all the way with this AS game! It’s kind of cool the way they’re trying to give more access to the player for the fans.

  15. Ria (the silent bonehead) on

I think everyone on the flyers should be given a lie detector test if they want to find that puck!

  16. I just got a very scary thought, the Sens trying to get rid of Gonchar would they take Drury and a d-man big cap hit but is it worth a try, as far as the cap hit we may come out on top maybe?

    Evening gang!

Had to run a zillion errands today (including a trek to DMV), but now home, with beer, and ready to see some skills.

    How’s everyone doing today?

  18. N.CountryNYRFan on

Doing good MickeyM, kinda sounds like my day, gonna have some snacks and try the new Sam Adams Noble Pils beer during the skills comp, hope its tasty. :)

  19. >>Is Toronto really that much of a sense of humour and perspective vortex?

There’s no telling what being out of the playoffs for so long will do to a city.

  20. MickeyM needs a new phone on

Carp, my first trip there back in November wasn’t good, downright as annoying and frustrating as NY. Today was good though, surprisingly. Didn’t have to wait long, the lady behind the counter was nice and efficient and no issues. In short, yes and no.

  21. n country! No Sam Adams! No Sam Adams! It’s all carcillo! Booo Sam Adams! :)

Hi Mickey!! How is your back doing recently?

  22. MickeyM needs a new phone on

NCountry, is that a dark beer? I’m not sure what Noble Pils would be, that’s why I didn’t try it last night when I was out.

  23. >>FBI aids search for Stanley Cup puck.

It’s great to know that our tax dollars are being put to such great productive use.

  24. MickeyM needs a new phone on

Tiki, it’s been fine since that one day. Thanks for asking.

    SHATTENKIRK! (giggles)

  25. Ack, we could have had Cam Fowler, but chose Dylan McIlrath, who is at least a few years away from the NHL. :(

  26. Sam Adams is poison to all New Yorkers! Avoid at any cost! :)

I like Marty St. Louis. I dont like Marc Fleury.

  27. N.CountryNYRFan on

No its not a dark beer, it’s a hoppy beer, it’s really good if you like a hoppy beer like a Pale Ale or IPA.

  28. MickeyM needs a new phone on

Sounds good, NCountry. I might have to try it. Not a fan of dark beers, which is why I asked.

  29. >>Awww, Marc got some really nice cheers from the crowd.

He can thank his last name for that. The goofy brother in Pittsburgh would have gotten the same reception.

  30. N.CountryNYRFan on

when does the next Staal enter the league?

I loved Mike Gartner was my favorite Ranger for a long time.

    hey mickey
how is the lou treating you?

  34. MickeyM needs a new phone on

Pretty darn good these days. Went to the Courtesy Diner for the first time today (I’m lazy on Saturday mornings and hate driving 25 minutes just for breakfast) and thought it was really good. Love the old school vibe it has.

  35. wicky(grating CCBG)© (The game’s not over until somebody cries!!) on

yep, it is great. good for you!! Love that place!

  36. wicky(grating CCBG)© (The game’s not over until somebody cries!!) on

the black thorn pub on wyoming street is a pretty cool place to go and so is weber’s front row in webster groves!

  37. MickeyM needs a new phone on

I would just like to state that I coud NONE of the things they are currently doing.

  38. MickeyM needs a new phone on

I went to a pub down on Lafayette with some friends on NYE. Loved it. Then we went for chocolate martini’s at Bailey’s Chocolate Bar.

  39. wicky(grating CCBG)© (The game’s not over until somebody cries!!) on

Lafayette is pretty cool and so is soulard. If you like the blues, BB’s downtown by the baseball stadium is great, but really really loud.

  40. MickeyM needs a new phone on

Ovechkin is SUCH a ham. I actually like that about him in events like this.

  41. We ain’t getting Weber.

We do however have Dylan McIlrath coming up. He supposedly shoots 100mph+.

  42. Good work by The King in the Elimination Shootout! Per Doc he’s the best goalie in the history of the shootout.

  43. wicky(grating CCBG)© (The game’s not over until somebody cries!!) on

there was place in u city that had a band called the flying mules that played on thursday nights that was really good. The bar was called riddles i think.

  44. MickeyM needs a new phone on

Thanks, wicky. I’ll have to look and see if it still exists.

Oh man, Dances with Wolves is on. Been ages since I’ve seen it. Like the movie, LOVE the music.

  45. Have you guys seen this? lol

From the Facebook page of Jim Schmiedeberg from Blueshirt Banter

“Our Prust who art in pain
    Hallowed be thy name
    Thy Kingdom Come
    Shorthanded goals be done
At the Garden as it is on the road
Give us this day our daily blocked shot
And forgive us Del Zotto’s stretch passes
As we forgive those who stretch passed against us
And lead us not into losses
    And deliver us from Devils
For thine is the penalty kill
And the checking, and the fighting
    Forever and ever

  46. >>actually Stepan beat Henrik, but his shot hit the crossbar underside and did not go in. bad luck

Actually, Step-ON did not score! That’s all that the scoresheet will show.

  47. The Leafs have sucked for nearly 20 years now (since Pat Burns left) – Leaf fans sense of humour has been beaten out of them so badly is truly is nothing more than an oxymoron.

  48. Good morning boneheads,

On Hockey Night Live! last night, the panel briefly discussed rumors and rumblings of Jarome Iginla being traded to Rangers. As you can see, this rumor is not going anywhere until Iginla actually goes somewhere in a trade. I really don’t think it is that far fetched for him to come to NY. I like Iglina over Richards for two main reasons:

    1) Iginla is class act on and off the ice, a true vocal leader. He is one of the premier snipers in the game. He led Calgary to the finals and won the goal scoring title a few times. He has that combination of skill, personality, and toughness/grit that would complement this Rangers team. He would instantly make us a tougher team and a better offensive team. I think he could be the guy that makes the NYR a playoff team that can get past the 2nd round.

    2) He only has 2 years left on his deal at a cap hit of $7m. *Richards is going to want at least 5 years and a bigger cap hit than Iggy around $7.5-8m*. There is also no guarantee he hits free agency. The ownership situation in Dallas has improved in that there are multiple potential buyers. To me it is the number years on the deal that make it bad idea to go after Richards.

The biggest question is, obviously, who would Slats give up in a trade. You know Slats wants him. If Slats always liked Wolski and had wanted to get him for a long time, imagine what he thinks of Iggy!

I’m sure many of you realize that, when you sign a star player in free agency, it is almost no different than a trade, when you are a team like the NYR that spends to the cap. If you sign Richards at $8m per, we take cap money away from other guys like our FAs. Make sense?

    My questions to you:
Iggy? or do nothing and wait for Brad Richards if he’s available?
Who would you give up in a trade? Who doesn’t play next year if we sign Richards?

  49. Carp, first let me say how much I appreciate your hard work in putting htis together. There is so much behind the scenes stress that must’ve took place 2 years ago!! Benn following you fromt he 80’s in teh Standard Star till now so I love your perspective on hockey & sports in general.

How many of you think that if Crosby wasn’t concussed, that the camera would have found him all during the draft!! His reaction to each selection, an in-depth interview when he was pick by Lindstrom instead of the Great 8! SO thankful he wasn’t there!!!!!

I’d take Iggy, no doubt!! DOn’t want him but if it’s a choice betw him & Richards, I’d take iggy.

Think the draft will get lame if it’s used each year. Great Idea by Shanny, but hockey players (and especially those lame MC’s) aren’t the funniest guys on a mike!
