I understand that John Tortorella doesn’t want to label one game more important than another—especially a non-conference game—and he doesn’t like the term “barometer” game, etc.
But this is a pretty good test for your boys … and they’ve done pretty darn well against some of the better teams this season (Chicago, Pittsburgh, St. Louis, Dallas, Boston, Washington, etc.).
Vancouver comes in with a 17-game regulation unbeaten streak (14-0-3) and with a lot of skill and speed and some jam … and a backup goalie in Cory Schneider (not to be confused with Corey Hirsch) and one of my faves, Manny Malhotra, and an absolute talent in Ryan Kesler, and the Sdedins, and so on and so on.
No lineup changes planned. Lundqvist in goal. Wolski plays with Stepan and Gaborik; Dubinsky with Anisimov and Zuccarello. Gilroy on the PP point, and Stepan off the point. Newbury is prucha’d.
