New York, January 10, 2011 – On Tuesday, February 15, the New York Rangers will trade in their blueshirts for black ties as they host Casino Night at Gotham Hall in Manhattan to benefit the Garden of Dreams Foundation. This annual fundraising event brings together the entire New York Rangers team, coaching staff and select alumni for a night of casino games and fun for a great cause. Yeah, waiver claim is a total possibility. Besides EC and Reitz, don’t forget Krog.

there is a big difference between trading a 3rd rounder for a top 6 defenseman and trading for a 4th liner. Ozolinsh was supposed to be a difference maker not a spare part. Also nothing you presented have occured recently.

wavier claims and swapping minor leaguers are a completely different story but there is a zero percent chance that the injury to Frolov causes the Rangers to give up something of importance for a 3 week stop gap.

  3. Hey, Kiwi, mrs and I were in NZ in September for two weeks. Great place, buddy!

Is anyone going to attend Casino Night? I’ve been meaning to go for years, I think this year I will

I would love to go to Casino Night, but the tix are a little too high for me this time around. Maybe next year!

On Cally, Torts says today he’s “getting close” but don’t expect #NYRangers to jump gun. Three weeks probably more likely.

After the Jan 25 game the Rangers don’t play until Feb1. So taking advantage of the gameless third week probably makes sense.

So figure 9 more games IMO.

My casino night will be at either foxwoods or mohecan sun…. gonna be working in close proximity to both in the near future.

  7. Why would the Rangers pick up someone off waivers? They don’t have to, they brought up Newburg. He will be fine on forth line, with Weiss and Drury. Drury will be getting a lot of extra work. I can’t really see how it would change much the way the team is now. Cally and Prospel will likely be back in a couple of weeks. There is no need to pick up anyone off waivers that I can see.

  8. Maybe with Frolov done for the season Drury will actually step up and play some hockey, instead of just gliding around the ice surface with a stick in his hands…

I honestly think you’re more likely to see Prospal than EC come back this year.

Hartford? no such luck…. hartford is a byfuglien country club compared to the frozen cave im going to.

  11. btw, are any of the other blogettes as annoyed as I am about the “guys” night out promo? Wonder if they’d turn me down cause I’m a gal…..sheesh.

  12. Whoaaa! I totally forgot aboot Brad Isbeaster.

Remember in pre-season a few years back when he made Dredden look amateur on that 2 on 1? Bwaha! That’s how it all started. Years later, he’s in Connecticut, trying his best Monopoly guy impersonation.

  13. also:

Michal Rozsival (right ribcage) unlikely to play for #NYRangers tomorrow vs. #Canadiens. Could not make it through full practice today.

  14. mama – im quite perturbed by the guys night out…i wonder if they’d accept a fruitcake like me!

Seems to me that every year, Sather makes one or two small trades around this time of year of a prospect or a pick for a depth player. Not high prospects or picks, but a prospect/pick nonetheless.

  16. Blogmama, when Sam and Joe “pardon me Sam” promote it, they do say “guy or girls” night out. It doesn’t bother me that much, just a little. I wish I could go to casino night, but can’t afford it this year. But I may have to start savin now so I can go next year.

  17. I will give you Jody Shelley for a 6th rounder, however, Shelley was brought in as a permanent fixture to the roster whereas anyone they would acquire now would be Prucha’d once Callahan and Prospal/Christensen return.

a 6th round pick is certainly more valuable than a 10 game stop-gap for the 4th line however, if they can get someone off waivers then go for it…

  18. Hey gang!

Would love to go to Casino night, but alas, not gonna happen.

Newbury is a stopgap, plain and simple.
