It’s Go Time!

Another night, another test. This one’s big. And, though I’m sure there’s not a single Ranger who would use an excuse, you could easily see them just being wiped out after all the tough minutes they played last night, and playing three in four nights, and so many crucial players playing so many hard shifts.

If they win this one, I’ll be really, really impressed. And I’ve been pretty impressed all year, right from the preseason.

Martin Biron starts in goal. Ryan McDonagh likely plays on defense, though Michal Rozsival (ribcage) will skate in warmups, according to Andrew Gross.

Andrew also attempted to ask John Tortorella about the incident on the bench with Brian Boyle. Tortorella used the “stays in the room” explanation, and added, “Nice try.” He said those things happen all the time on the bench.

No way for Rozsival. Already off the ice back to the dressing room.

    Biron Starting

  2. Today I tried to help a friend get a cat in a carrier to take it to the vet. WTB! 90 minutes later the cat was in the carrier and I was covered in cat fur and spit. Sadie Sue is a cat with a dark side. Apparently, she was a sweetheart at the vet’s office.

    LGR. Get it done!

    Shout out to JD.

  3. I think Torts’ competitive juices got the best of him and he knows he went a bit overboard.

  4. Lol, Marji! Hope you preserved your nails for tonight, got a feeling you’ll need ’em.

Marj , my cat just walks into the carrier..ya got tell yer friend to train it!!!

    GO RANGERS!!!!

  7. I’m from The Lou-watched the Blues play the Bruins in 69-70 and Orr (not our Bobby) fly threw the air. But that was at the old Arena where I lived a few blocks away (from the Hill home of Yogi Berra). I am a Ranger fan for 25 years! LGR!!!!!

  8. N.CountryNYRFan on

Blacked out again, I hate living in an area where MSG defers to the damn Sabres!!!

  9. lol Greg – I was just reading some old posts of yours about Grabby flexin his pecs in the mirror and Tiki in a thong comparing his buns with Jagrs, I think it was after they ate watermelon, lmao you were on a roll

  10. Why would they hire a blimp to give an overhead view of an enclosed stadium in Indianapolis?

  11. Julie-Who hardly ever posts on

Perhaps JD will make a guest appearance in between periods? It’s always great to see him. I miss him!

  12. Julie-Who hardly ever posts on

Looks like I might have to make a few trips to the kitchen again tonight!

  13. Guess what, the Blues don’t look nearly as formidable as they looked against us earlier. Looks like they could be had.

  14. ZzZz NYR ZzZzucco " Lets go Rangers!! "...says Greg L. on

hahaha ddeb , i remeber those!!! sad thing is , I dont think gabby ever saw it and I also did one ” life at Mike place” …I did a few on bunch of boneheads.

    GO RANGERS!!!!!

  15. ZzZz NYR ZzZzucco " Lets go Rangers!! "...says Greg L. on

the Blues can be “had” ilb …this time we shine!!!! Gotta make JD sing the blues. We need more points!!! points and more points.

  16. Oshie and MacDonald are big losses for them and the Rangers ar a better team since their last meeting.

  17. Blue Seat Horror on

I don’t know why they keep saying Staal is playing at an all-star level. They don’t want a shut-down defenseman in the all-star game.

  18. Jordan would make the ASG before Marc if the Pens fans ballot box stuffers had their way.

  19. ZzZz NYR ZzZzucco " Lets go Rangers!! "...says Greg L. on

fricking game is still blacked out!!!!!!??? Wazzzup wit that man!!??? come on guys I need an update here . who made this game all blacked out and stuff.

  20. Current Pens vs former Pens as the ASG. EC might have a chance as would Hal Gill, Rob Scuderi, Adam Hall, Jarkko Ruutu, Colby Armstrong…curiously not Marian Hossa.

  21. N.CountryNYRFan on

too much passing up high by the rangers they need to work the puck down low more on the pp

  22. Didn’t Jordan retire before 2006 though? Vast majority of Penguins fans wouldn’t know who he was, so wouldn’t vote him into the All-Star Game.

  23. That period was probably the least exciting thing I’ve ever seen on TV.

And that includes the episode of How It’s Made where they showed the manufacturing process of diapers.

  24. ZzZz NYR ZzZzucco " Lets go Rangers!! "...says Greg L. on

Games back on !!!..wait its the end of the period . I saw Zucco getting pushed around a bit but the little guy can take it. Gonna be a great 2nd period coming up!!!

  25. Where is Orr? Hope he isn’t watching Jets. That will get Tiki’s boxers in a bunch. Or is it panties he is wearing? It’s not always clear to me, lol

  26. >>You were right, JBytes. Both teams have just started to play, lol

I’m glad they waited for me.

  27. >>And that includes the episode of How It’s Made where they showed the manufacturing process of

Are you expecting TV programming that’ll make you wet yourself?

  28. ZzZz NYR ZzZzucco " Lets go Rangers!! "...says Greg L. on

Tiki is no doubt in a thong gone wrong!!

    CTB , yes I says!!!

  29. Hey, folks, we need a little more jam on the blog. Maybe that will help them to wake up?

  30. >>I often listen to Dougay’s comments and wonder if he really ever played hockey..

Having been a talented player doesn’t necessarily mean he’s automatically insightful about the game. I see that amongst footballers quite a bit. Heck, some of them don’t even know the rules of the game.

  31. Wow. Milbury on CBC just called the Kostopoulos hit on Stuart a “nice play” and blamed Stuart for being “pre-occupied”. Then denounced a hit by Steve Downie which had a few similarities because of Downie’s rep. Unlike Kostopoulos who is also a repeat offender.

The man gets more cretinous each time he opens his mouth.

  32. N.CountryNYRFan on

dubi, and Zukes have been the best players for us lately, the rest need to wake the fugg up

  33. Joekuh-rury-mire - I'm AWESOME! on

I’m down to listening to the game right now. someone, anyone, PLEASE hook it up with a video link!

  35. Great passing sequence, and Sam and Joe are right, McD had a strong shift in his own end to help create the counterattack.

  36. ZzZz NYR ZzZzucco " Lets go Rangers!! "...says Greg L. on

    yehawwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!!!….Avery???? maybe him.

  37. Haha, Gaborik still can’t find the back of the old onion bag. He needs to change something soon, like tuck his jersey inside the right side of his pants instead.

  38. >>I think Gaborik is asking about that goal

If he were a true team player, he’d leave well enough alone.

  39. had a sleeping kitty on my chest and didn’t have the heart to kick her off, but now I’m free! Sweetness! Kick it boys!

wtb with that face wash on Zucca?!?

  40. I can’t believe Boston just blew a 2-nil lead with less than three minutes left in the match.

  41. Julie-Who hardly ever posts on

Yeah, it might be soon ilb! Gotta do something to get some goals scored. lol

  42. Joekuh-rury-mire - I'm AWESOME! on

GREAT job by Avery going to the net to finish that play. Him and Dubinsky worked hard for that goal.

  43. CT, and JBytes, I think Gaborik was asking for that goal … and I’m not convinced it wasn’t his … but should you ask for it?

Are you guys concerned about the Rangers not trailing entering the third?

  44. Kevin Weekes is a great broadcaster, I think he works for TSN or one of the Canadian outlets.

  45. I’m convinced Carp :)

I don’t know if that Planet Fitness guy makes me laugh or want to punch him.

  46. i watched it on dvr in slo mo…the first, live view it looks like gabby’s…after that on the replays not so sure

  47. From that front view, it looks like the puck crossed the line all the way. And, no, Carp, you shouldn’t ask.

  48. N.CountryNYRFan on

thats good would love to see MDZ get his confidence back and become a good PP quarterback for us

  49. and the overhead view is deceiving since you see both the crossbar and the red line. they should be lined up

  50. Julie-Who hardly ever posts on

Goodnight all. Gotta get up very early tomorrow morning.
    Let’s go Rangers!!!!

  51. Carp,

That’s what I was thinking that Gaboirk was asking about it. On the replay though it looks like the ref waited until Avery put it in to signal a goal. Either way I believe it’s not out of the ordinary for players to ask about scoring decisions correct?

  52. There was nothing to cause that reaction from Character, but I wouldn’t have minded if the officials had let him and Jesus Gomez go at each other.

  53. Gaborik getting back to those shots that the goalie can’t handle cleanly which is closer to how it was coming off his stick last year.

  54. Seeing McDonagh out there gives the Rangers NO reason whatsoever not to bury Blowzy in the minors along with Redden.

  55. N.CountryNYRFan on

rangers do look a little tired but at least Biron is rested we need him here, big pk time

  56. ZzZz NYR ZzZzucco " Lets go Rangers!! "...says Greg L. on

screw u Blues , u suck!!!!! Sorry JD but the Blues are going down!!!!!

  57. Drury is just really terrible with those half-hearted and aimless flips of the puck to no one.

  58. I heard Drury’s down to only 2 mouthguards a game. Not even chomping on it as much as he used to.

  59. Joekuh-rury-mire - I'm AWESOME! on

Dubinsky = Monster!!!!! Avery with the game winner! 3 in a row feels damn good.

  60. Rangers won, Debbies lost. What else needed for unspoiled happiness. And I don’t need to find a reason to have a few shots of “Gray Goose’ cranberry!

  61. N.CountryNYRFan on

Drury was horrible that game, he kept on giving up the puck to Blues players down low, just horrible

  62. LW3H- even if Marty weighted as much as MZA, he’d still be ahead of every goaltender in that category.

  63. I swear, the way Dubinsky is playing, he would fit right in on the 1996 Team USA World Cup Of Hockey team.

  64. I don’t think they’ve won more than 3 in a row the whole season, but there’s always time for a first

  65. OK all, too many late nights in a row for me, so I’m off to my other happy place :) Catch up with you all tomorrow. LGR!!! I adore this team.
Carp, are you really, really impressed??!!!

  66. >>Next to go down are the Mounties!!!!

They pulled one out of Boston’s mouth tonight. The good news is, Cammalleri might be out.

  67. YEAH. Hard fought win. . Number one in the NHL with wins on the road., right?

JPG missed the game. He went to a dinner with someone his wife works with tonight. Hopefully he can watch the re-broadcast.

Glad I got to see it.

Congrats Sean for the game winner!

  68. I’m sorry, I’ll even call this a laurel….what the heck is Duguay wearing????? Ron, Studio 54 is over! Move on!!!!

  69. Czechthemout!!! on

    Dubi is a monster!!!

MCD looks darn good out there. If they keep him up, and let him play a few more games in a row he will never get taken out again.

    Zucc looking good.

    Stepan is a gem!

    Sauer was outstanding again.

Overall good job by everyone tonight except Drury who really should retire.

  70. N.CountryNYRFan on

agree about Drury, i have been a fan of his but he has not shown anything this year at all, not even leadership skills

  71. The best thing Drury did in that game – and all season for that matter – was hand his stick to Danny G from the bench.
