Had a really busy day yesterday, saw some of my faves: Mark Messier, Adam Graves, Mike Keenan, at the rink. Had a nice sit-down with Tortorella for a story I’m writing for Sunday.
Today I’m headed to MSG for the game tonight, as the Rangers hit the mid-season mark. Will have the full monty tonight.
Also, want to mention a guy I’ve known, it seems, forever: John Rosasco, the Rangers VP of PR and player recruitment, who is the best in the business, and who recently worked the 1,500th game of his 23-year career. Must have started when he was six. Congrats, JR.
In the meantime, here are the pre-game notes, courtesy of the Rangers:

First? :O
Yey! The time difference is finally doing something positive for me! Hope you all have a good day!
Do
Does the all time record include games vs just the Canes or the Whalers too?
ilb or any other iPhone users, recently when Ive been trying to comment on this site it only allows me to stay in the typing box for a certain amount of time then for some reason it drops me out as if I’m pressing the “Done” key. Anyone else having that issue?
No, CTB, no such problem for me.
Cleared the cookies and some other changes on safari and it’s still happening.
Reset the phone?
Tried that earlier and synched it to iTunes to no avail.
I wonder if they can get a mobile version of the site going?
Hmm. I’ve never had that problem before. Strange.
If you’re desperate to post, then you can type what you have to say in your “notes” app, and copy it and paste it in the box.
The time limit might make things a little exciting, and dramatic, sort of like the movie “Speed”
Great article by Berlet – lots of good stuff on MDZ, McDonagh and even Wade Redden!
Yeah I either deal with the glitch or draft an email and copy paste. It’s annoying though.
I think I’m gonna chomp on a burger and taco for lunch. I’m feeling some “jam”.
blech. middle of the week blues for me today. thank god there is a game tonight.
it will be interesting to see how the rangers handle the canes speed. in the past they’ve had trouble with that.
did you guys know that eric and marc are brothers? i wonder how often we will hear that tonight
You sure aboot that? There names are spelled differently. One is Staal and the other is Stahl.
Maybe Stoll is related to them as well. Stalberg could be a their half brother. Papa Staal might have had some Tiger Woods moments while in Sweden.
If Lundqvist is in net more than 8 minutes tonight he’ll have lasted longer than MMMAAARRRTTTYYY from the other night. Did anyone see the eventual GWG from the Mild, or Kovalchuk tripping over the blueline for the first?
CTB, I did see that a guy named Stoner scored for the Wild…
CTB – Im going to hell – I am enjoying the fall of Kovy and Marty way too much, even for a Rangers fan. Did you see when they started asking Kovy about his goal he interrupted and said “who cares?” – I’m lovin it!!!!!
Hi All. Looking forward to a big game tonight. LGR!
Tonight is a golden opportunity to beat a team we traditionally have problems beating! LGR!
Nothin’s finer than the downfall of the whiner! Go for 15th Marty
I’m typing on my iPhone now, with no problem. Weeee!!
Stop showing off Orr, I’m on a desktop now anyway.
Good morning all! CT, maybe it’s cause you’re driving while iPhoning??? BlueBlood, LMAO.
LGR!
Going to the game tonight courtesy of Eric. Anyone know if he had his kid yet?
Most of my iPhone link with the blog is Metro North. Maybe it’s their fault.
Doodie, he’s due in February (the kid that is, noit eric)
CT, take the express post, not the local
hey
dont know if its been mentioned here but henrik lundqvist is officially off the market.
carry on.
lol
CTB – To your non-phone question, the all-time record has to be against the whole franchise since the Hurricanes have played only four games a season against the Rangers for most of the time they have been there.
Lundqvist engaged. Sorry ladies: http://henriklundqvisthockey.blogspot.com/2011/01/confirmed-henrik-lundqvist-is-getting.html?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter
LOL, TR, some of our female bloggers just fainted…..Well, I’m afraid, perhaps even some male ones too..
Henrik’s off the market??
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
My chance at wooing him is gone! Over! Finito!
Oh Henrik, my Henrik! I had such a beautiful future planned for us!
My heart shall always be yours, Heinie, as well as Jaromirs :)
Told you :-)
perfect timing, ilb! :) prediction on tonight’s game score?
Who will be his best man?
His brother?
Avery?
Carp?
This makes me love Henrik even more.
Our Mama has a thing for famous people “not forgetting their roots” – as in they have a significant other, then become famous, and stick my their signficant other, all the while not allowing fame to change them.
Henrik has stayed with Theresa for all these years and hasn’t changed as a person since the beginning of his fame and fortune.
♥ Hankie Bear
Im awaiting the best man invitation in the mail…
morning ILB and all!
I know I asked this last week, but I lost the link. Anyone have the link for the full 24/7 episodes??
Thanks
Nothing is official until they are married.
The soon to be Queen Lundquist looks a bit like a young Glen Close. Hopefully she won’t be boiling any rabbits soon! She must make a helluva meatball. Congrats to the King! And sorry to Linda, Mama, & the other lady boneheads!
Headzo – No sorry to me? Harumph! The world’s most eligible bachelor is no more!
USA better beat those Swedes today in the WJC Bronze medal game. USA is here to stay and is a world class hockey program. It makes a big statement to the world to medal in back to years. They better show up.
Condolences Tiki! And she does look like a young glenn close!
*back to back years.
Congrats to Hank! Sorry to all the ladies who’s hearts were broken by the news!
Mike Commodore, of the Blue Jackets, requested a trade;
http://www.jacketscannon.com/2011/1/5/1916538/commodore-wants-out
We should trade Rozsival and a prospect for Commodore and Filatov. Filatov has not worked out well there, maybe he just needs a change of scenary. He is still very young.
Tiki – especially not you. Are you still claiming to be a hetero male? Or did you come out of the closet over the holidays? Not that there’s anything wrong with that!
I don’t think Tiki has ever claimed to be hetero, either as Tiki or his former handle (which I can’t remember). Honestly, all of his pining for Jagr is what tipped me off that he was the other guy.
...not that there’s anything wrong with that!
Can we talk lines instead, lol?
Carp, what’s the focus of your story on Sunday?
Carp, if you do the math JR had to start when he was 3.
yeah, enough about my sexual preferences. and YES, I am hetero. Not that there’s anything wrong with the alternative. Im entitled to admire the beauty of other men. Any man that cant admit that Jaromir’s derriere looks like a piece of filet mignon is only lying to themselves :)
but i do have a secret that im working up the nerve to tell you all :)
tiki
you are a riot bro!!
NYR_FAN what do you think happen to USA Monday night?? They looked REAL BAD, they couldn’t do anything??
... and only Mama, Norwegian Krisi, and Mickey know the secret!
You seen them all naked??
Tiki’s secret = Brodeur’s butt buddy
they’ve all seen you naked?
You’ve dated kate beckinsale??
kate beckinsale has seen you naked?
christ on a cracker, I’m starting to sound like orr!
this is what happens when I don’t work for a day!
LMAO wicky!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That’s great carcillo!!!!
Harumph Headzo! You’re being very mean today :(
Sigh. My day is ruined. Congrats Hank. Wish you all the best. (leaves sobbing…...)
If Aves is the next to get down on one knee, I may as well just watch games from a barn in Utah….
pass on filatov. zherdev pt 2.
i would deal roszival and someone else for commodore though
wicky, get back to work assen :)
according to james wisnieswki avery is down on his knees
maybe Filatov is Zherdev part two, but he’d at least be worth a 2nd or 3rd round pick.
Change of scenery trades rarely work out over time. Maybe an initial burst, last year’s best example was Latendresse for Pouliot between Minny and Montreal. Columbus is a team where I think young players are afforded a lot of opportunities under relatively low expectations. If they can’t succeed there I would be highly doubtful they could succeed in NY.
Hank is getting married? i hope that wont affect his game
I won’t assume that Filatov would be unsuccessful here but I wouldn’t take the chance…
Filatov is a headcase with world class talent. Think EC, Zherdev, Lisin, and Kovalev. Do NYR really want to babysitt another enigma?
We have to deal with Grachev as it is…
good points. I’d still take a chance.
one day, i hope to wake up, come to RR and read that Laurel is dating, or marrying Sean Avery :)
First Cally, then Staalsie and now Hank? What’s the team’s gatorade over the past year? lol
and are there any good, single men left in the world? my goodness!
I think Scott Gomez is on the market. He’s pretty rich too.
CCCP, let me tell you. Getting married seriously affects your game. It completely diminishes it (looks around to see if Mrs. CTB is lurking).
Lines, folks, LINES!
wade redden: lines, folks fines!
NYR_FAN- I wouldn’t mention Kovalev together with EC, Zherdev and Lisin. If someone can put more than 1000 points for our team during their career, I’ll live with headaches.
Tik, what do you think aboot Ryan Getzlaf? Do you like 26 year old balding hockey players?
If I had that guys skull, I’d cry!
Hopefully Hank getting married means that he’ll quit giving up softies.
Even when Hank proposed to his girlfriend, he went down too early.
Someone get Benoit Allaire on the phone!
Yeah, Noah, but Hank is unbeatable down low…
huge 4 pt game tonight
rangers 7th in east 6 ahead of carolina whos 9th with 2 games in hand. these are the games we need to win. win and lead is 8 lose and down to 4 with 2 games in hand. this is a must win game in january if there is one.

Oh goodness gracious, you boys!
“according to james wisnieswki avery is down on his knees”
line of the day.
lmao Noah!
miked line was funny; noah’s was line of 2011 so far!
“Even when Hank proposed to his girlfriend, he went down too early”
Bwaha!
Hello all, it has been a while since I posted anything of substance, and while I don’t know if this is, I just wanted to say, even with the last few games, I have really enjoyed this team this year. I’ve always been proud to be a Rangers fan, but I am really PROUD now. I can bet you that no team in the league is going to want to play us in the playoffs. And while I know I am jumping the gun a little with playoff talk, I stand by that comment. This is not a team that is easy to win against, at all. They just work and work and work and work, and it is something we have not seen in years. It was a real crappy 2010 for me personally, and watching this team was one of the few good things, and things that made me happy. I really hope they can keep it up for 2011 and make us proud with a nice payoff run. Tonight will be a good game, and Carolina has been hot of late, so that should be interesting. Also, I know we have all been expecting the Devils fall from grace, but DAMN!!! I never in my wildest imagination pictured this happening. Ha, and I have to say, I AM LOVING EVERY SECOND OF IT!!!
Last comment, does anyone know when pro-jerseys.com is going to get Heritage jerseys back in stock? I am owed one as a xmas gift, and wanted to order from there because the cost is cheaper and they are stitched, but they have been on back order forever. Or if anyone knows and trusts a comporable site, please let me know.
That is all for now, and I hope you are all well.
Best,
Nasty
Hope 2011 is better for you, Nasty. We miss you here. And totally agree on all accounts regarding the Rangers. And the Devils, lol!
I got my jersey from them just before they ran out, haven’t looked since. And i can attest- it’s a very well made jersey.
mam
fine, I’m going (zerbert your way)!!
Thanks for the love all…that joke seemed to write itself.
Anyway, not sure if this was posted earlier, but here’s a debate over, among other things, the Rangers’ recent roster moves (WARNING: THERE IS A DISCUSSION ON SIDNEY CRYSBY).
http://espn.go.com/blog/nhl/post/_/id/3331/daily-debate-crosbys-complaints-rangers-moves
mama, not mam…sheesh, really losing it!
Nasty, you have a McMurphy burger for lunch?
Hey it was good seeing you the other week at the game and W77.
Laich is a UFA at the end of the season, like his game. Just popping off right now, sorry!
NYR_FAN- I wouldn?t mention Kovalev together with EC, Zherdev and Lisin. If someone can put more than 1000 points for our team during their career, I?ll live with headaches.
***
ilb, I would agree with you except that Kovalev was so inconsistent and only put up 292 points as Ranger over almost 8 seasons:
As a Penguin: 345 GP 149 Goals 198 Assists 347 Points
As a Hab: 314 GP 103 Goals 161 Assists 264 Points
As a Ranger: 427 GP 122 Goals 170 Assists 292 Points (blech)
Nasty, hey, glad to see you here. Let me know next time you plan on going to warren. As I sheepishly learned from TR, I owe ya :)
aww, Nasty. Hope things get better for you and we see much more of you.
Thanks all. CT, agreed! And I am hoping to get to some more games. Mama, LOL, maybe just one, ha.
Well, I can’t wait to order a jersey. I think the Heritage jersey is just some simple and cool looking. And I really like the color blue they chose for it.
When tbw and I arrived at Bradley Field ( Hartford for the uninitiated) I stopped at a book stand for a paper and there before my very eyes were racks of Hartford
Whalers jerseys on sale, and lots of them. Both in all green with the flukes, and in white with the combo.
If those are the action (on ice) game shirts they didn’t look bad at all.
You’re on :)
Nasty here’s a site:
https://www.rivercitysports.com/us/details-06.cfm?sku=156561
They don’t do the customization there, but the NHL store will do it for $45 so the final price isn’t too bad. And they’re the real deal too and sometimes have great discounts. During the summer I got a blank authentic home jersey for like 40% off and got the customizing done at the NHL store.
Hi Nasty!
Doodie, it’s going to be about Torts and his philosophies.
Nasty, I ordered an official RBK Edge Heritage jersey on Ebay for under $200.
Like CTB said, I’ll probably just head over to the NHL store when I want to customize it…
Does the River City jersey come with the 85 year patch ? I didn’t see it on that site
Not sure Tony, I would bet not. I didn’t even get the patch on mine that I ordered from the NHL official website. I was not pleased, but getting free customization and 20% off on top of that because they initially byfuglien’ed up my order was good enough compensation.
Torts philosophies, what could those be?
– Don’t step on the byfuglien logo – Of course maroon striped ties go with maroon shirts – I like my wingers like I like my toast…WITH JAM – Don’t come down to the bus stop unless you’re willing to fight – I’m not going to answer that question about my philosophies
Am I the only one stunned by the ‘Brodeur derriere buddy’ comment made to Tiki ? Not that there is anything wrong with being stunned.
1-1 USA v Sweden Bronze medal game. Kreider just scored on a power play that was drawn by Ryan Borque.
lol, i was quite stunned by that as well, mao! not sure if headzo was being a meanie to me :)
Sweet goal by Kreider…
any links to watch WJ online?
http://www.youshouldbeinBuffaloCCCP.com
that link didnt come up with anything CTB! ;)
CCCP – if you need any games of the WJ on DVD, let me know
I can’t watch that Bronze game. I don’t have the heart or stomach to see USA fighting for a garbage bronze medal.
There should only be gold given to a team. No silver or bronze medals should be given out.
mao, delayed penalty on that comment, you’re correct!
btw, having a FB chat with Shea Weber about sushi. Swear. Worth spending 17 hours at desk today doing job carcillo.
More Torts philosophies:
Never repeat yourself. Never repeat yourself.
There’s nothing funny about describing players as being “firm” or “re-establishing hardness”.
Sully talks to Giannone, not me.
Don’t squirt water at fat, abusive men in Washington. Not even Boudreau.
lol CTB
i wish i was in Buffalo!
Tiki
Thanks! I have no TV in my office…so i can’t watch while worlking but I have my DVR set for 3 hockey games in my two other rooms! Rangers, USA, and Russia game! its going to be a busy night for me!
3-2 Usa v Sweden, Jesper Fasth just scored a very nice goal for sweden to make it 3-2 with just 5 minutes to go. Jesper Fasth is the New York Ranger 157th draft pick in 2010 and just scored his 4th goal of the tournament. =D
and borque had an assist on USA’s 3rd goal. Three points so far for Rangers drafts picks in this game.
new post.
Kreider scores again on a 2-1 with palmerri! what a goal! 3 goals and 1 assist for Rangers draft picks! I love our kids!
