Lightnings-Rangers in review

124

As we go into the Christmas break, some thoughts:

1) The NHL gets it right by shutting down for two days. What a disgrace it is that the NBA makes all those people go to work on Christmas Day.

2) I know I’ve said it before in games they failed to win, but I thought the Rangers played pretty darn well.

3) It speaks to the direction of this organization that in two consecutive games they’ve had to call up kids who didn’t look even a little out of place. I think they’ve got to feel pretty good if they need Dale Weise or Mats Zuccarello again later on … and I’m sure they will.

4) How sweet was that Derek Stepan goal? And the pass by Brandon Dubinsky?

5) Obviously I have some problems with the first and third Tampa Bay goals. The first needs no words. Michal Rozsival had a complete brain-lock. The second goal, Stamkos made a good play on Dan Girardi’s stick to turn the puck over. Then, how about that pass by St. Louis, and the bottle-popper shot by Stamkos? Wow. But the third goal, yes, Zuccarello needed to pick up a man in front. But why was Marc Staal in the corner on one knee trying to block a pass? And why was Dan Girardi at the side of the net, one one knee, trying to block the same pass when there were three Lightnings in front?

6) The shootout was pretty cool — how about the goals by Christensen and Zuccarello? — and yeah, everybody in the building was going nuts. But I still think it’s a lousy, lousy way to lose a HOCKEY game that’s been played so hard for 65 minutes. Lousy. Have I mentioned that before?

7) And I’m not exactly sure why Rozsival gets a call there in the skills competition, ahead of, say, Prust. And Staal.

8) During a favorite commercial, a question arose. Can anybody tell me the difference between a woodchuck, a groundhog and a gopher? Is there a difference?

9) Once again, I thought Matt Gilroy did just fine. You could definitely have a worse No. 7 defenseman (or no No. 7 defenseman, like last year).

10) Stamkos=Monster.

11) Both Anisimov and Frolov are coming on lately. I’m serious about Frolov.

I hope youse who celebrate Christmas Eve have a wonderful evening with special people tonight. And that Santa has you on his “nice” list. That might be a stretch in some cases.

  1. Very Merry to Carp and all yous guys.
Sad we lost. But glad the Hobbit and Stepan scored.
I just really love watching this team play this year. What a difference
    A year makes.
    Enjoy the day all

  2. Hope you had an great Festivus Carp. I agree with Frolov i have liked him a lot recently he is always in the middle of the play making things happen even if he isn’t producing as much as we’d like.

  3. I wanted to stirr that discussion last night that I dont see the reason they sent Zuccarello back to Hartford. As the coach confirmed in his presser last night, that the teams lacks skill, creativity and now they have one of those players and then they send him away….

I know he is a freshman in the NHL and how can you learn to play in the NHL when you play in the AHL ? I can´t understand the point, because he showed what he can do in the minor team…

As quicker you can bring him up the better it is and obviously he is way better than a player like Todd White or what ????

Truth to be told this guy is so much more interesting to watch than par exemple Mr. Captain Chris Drury…

  4. Look at what happens when you have patience with young players. Example: Stepan. What do you think would have happened if they sent him down to the AHL when he went through the big dry spell after that first game? They let him work through it and now he’s a productive player.

Why couldn’t they do that with Weise and Zucco? There are players on the roster that they could replace. Just off the top of my head – Fedotenko, White, Christensen (even with his prowess in the skills competition), even Boogey.

    Anyway, Merry Christmas everybody.

Merry Christmas Eve to my favorite bunch of Boneheads, old and new!

As I always say around sentimental times, youse guys make it easier to be almost one thousand miles away during hockey season! Your knowledge of the game and the team, your incredibly hilarious one liners, your great stories, the hijinx, jibber/gibberish, shenanigans and all out antics, and even the sad events we help each other through make me realize you guys are my extended family and I love youse!!!

And Carp, there really are not enough words to thank you for all you do!! You are an awesome dude and I am so glad I found the blog, and, by extension, you and the ‘Heads! Thanks so much for keeping our dysfunctional, zany family going!!

  6. Czechthemout!!! on

Was at the game last night. Also can’t understand why blowzy goes ahead of more obvious players. As much as I liked what Torts has done with the team this year. I don’t understand his continuous insistence on playing Todd White. A NHL roster spot is a precious thing. To just give one up to an obvious scrub who brings nothing to the table is just bizarre .

I don’t understand playing blowzy either. He sucks! Always has! Always will! He teases people with the occasional good game but will than go on and play a dozen piss poor games. He is a turnover machine. He hesitates in everything he does. He is at best a number six or seven damn on a good team. The more ice time he gets, the likely he is to make his usual bad mistakes.

The sad thing is that they really don’t need him at all.

  7. Good morning, boneheads! Sorry, couldn’t join you for yesterday’s grievances, looks like you had a lot of fun. I had a very hard and sad day at work (happens more often than I’d like in my profession), so didn’t want to spoil your happy g(j)ibberish with my mood.

But I liked the game last night. They outplayed much more skillful team. They made a few mistakes and the Bolts made them pay. Too much skill to take chances against. But the effort continues. MZA looked like he belonged already. He, by the way, isn’t that easy to hit, and he is much better on his skates than I thought. In terms of sending him down- it’s a salary cap move. If Gaborik is back by Monday- he will stay in Hartford. The logical move to make is to send White down to relieve their cap ( can they, please, do it anyway?), but White is a fourth liner, MZA, if he plays, will stay on the first line. They are not interchangeable.

Stepan, I believe, will be at the level, if not better, than Brad Richards. I think we need to be patient.

Which brings me to the last point. AA. He is starting to look very difficult to stop when he handles the puck through the middle, D has to back off and the goaltender needs to respect his shot. That’s how they scored the goal- pass, got to the net, goaltender is scrambling…The reason I’m saying this is because, with Kreider coming up, Stepan playing the way he is, I hope Slats isn’t thinking of trading AA. That would be a terrible mistake- the Rangers have to become very good in the middle in order to compete with Flyers and the Pens for hers to come.

  8. Merry Christmas to all, whether youre blogging from home or the 3k ward in the physcho unit like me. Rosy UGHHHHHHH Staal/ Garardi combo UGHHHHHH White= waste FREE AVERY!!!!!!!!!!!! How a bout a newer version of THE KID LINE Steph Zucca Weiss Carp and all have a happy and merry one, and when the meds wear off I will be back

    you sure about that ilbzo!? and this is for you my friend {{{{{{{ILBZO}}}}}}}

Paul and Kurt two thumbs up for your posts!

  10. I cringe every time the defensemen go down on their knees. Who taught them to do that, anyway? What other team does that? They look ridiculous and I would much rather see them just stay on their feet and attack the guy with the puck.

They did play pretty well though. Just a couple dumb plays and Hank looked a little like he was fighting it all night. But a point is a point. Plus the Devils lost again. #30 and crew are #30. Beautiful. And that ranking is official.

  11. Lindaasen CalPrustBoylahan on

Thanks to all of you who have made me laugh, and thanks to Carp for dedicating his time to report all things Rangers!

  13. True Fans Bleed RW&B on

One of the few games I was able to make this year. Nice to get a point, but disappointing considering that rozsival and girardi handed the bolts the first two goals.
Carp, if I recall, Staal also blows his coverage on Lecavalier (who is one of the first to enter the zone with the puck on the 3rd goal), then Staal releases and tries that knee block play on the passer, ultimately getting it back to Vinny L. It’s amazing our 3 highest paid D were all involved in the goals.

    Oh well.

Happy holidays all! Here’s to hoping Santa parks each of our brand new red Mercedes sports cars in the driveway tonight! …I mean, where else would he put them?!

  14. ilb, sorry to hear about your tough day.

I can only imagine what you might have been through, and go through regularly. Hopefully the upside of your profession helps you get through the downside. You are a great man and we all admire you.

    God bless you.

  15. Good morning all! And a merry one to those who celebrate this particular eve, which will hopefully be grievance free!
I really don’t want to pick apart last night’s game. Let’s just say I agree with Carp :)
and on number 1 especially. despicable

I hope our boys have a good holiday, too, and come back strong Monday. MZA, we’ll miss you!!!!! come back soon!!!

  16. Thank you for your kind words, guys. I really appreciate your friendship. One thing is for sure- we win much more these battles at work than we lose. By far. Very proud of that.

  17. Joekuh-rury-mire on

1 comment about the shootout: It amazes me how easy EC makes scoring in the shootout look. Yes, its a dumb way to finish a tied hockey game, but it’s still kinda cool to see.

  18. Tiki - I heart Brett Favre on

ilb – You should be proud. If this world had many more people like you in it, the world would be a much better place. :)

Mama! Hope you’re having a great time with your Mama! I bet she’s just as extraordinary a woman as you :)

i dont have a problem with games on Christmas…if NFL games fall on a Sunday Christmas, they play too

  19. Joekuh- MZA looked pretty good too. Frolov, IIRC, has very respectable SO record too. He, btw, is a point per game over the last 6. And he is looking better and better. Let’s hope he is just a slow starter, eh?

  20. Thanks, Tiki…I had a pretty decent list of grievances for yesterday too, I forgot it all, lol…
But I’m pretty sure Todd White was right up there :-)

  21. Tiki - I heart Brett Favre on

Todd who ?? Still not sure what he’s doing with the NYR. He doesn’t serve any purpose to the team, doesn’t contribute anything.

I really started to like Boogaard. Sad that he likely wont be back for a long time. More wasted $$$$ on an enforcer. When are we going to learn that team toughness (Boyle, Prust, Avery, Cally, Dubi, Staal etc.) is more important than a fighting goon.

At least Colton Orr was a hard worker, good skater with pretty good speed and could put the puck in the net once every 40 games.

  22. Thanks tiki…we’re off to cause some damage in the big bad city :)

ilb, you can get a pass and list yours today if you like…

  23. Tiki - I heart Brett Favre on

No, I meant pretty good speed for a fighter type. I thought he was a much better skater than Boogaard, Brashear. And a former Ranger, Antropov.

Am I wrong…is he really slow too?

Anyhow, at $1 million a year for 4 years, he’d still be better than Brash/White and Boogaard.

  24. Happy Post-Festivus, Christmas Eve everyone.

Missed the 2nd and 3rd periods, evidently a bar in the hometown of Hugh Jessiman isn’t enough to get the Rangers game on their TV (pointless college football bowl game and blowout NFL game take precedent).

Derek Stepan = Captain Clutch in training (American born, college trained, right handed center)?

As the pre-season demonstrated MZA, needed a break in period to N. American game. He went through it, now it looks like he could be ready. This is why you have to wait sometimes.

I think the Whale have a game before Monday and to save on the daily cap hit, that’s why he was sent down.

I will be very happy if the Rangers give us a belated Christmas gift of 4 points vs the Isles and Devils.

Are you going to Boston, Mama? ;-)

    ______

    LMHAO!! :)

  26. Ha! No, bypassing Boston and going to Maine next week through New Year’s. I wouldn’t want to ruin tiki’s new year’s by going to beantown :)

Mama – Ha! If you think it’s a good city (which you do), then it must be a good city! Go Boston University :)

Now get out with your Mama and pick up 2 rich, kind Jaromirs. :)

Definition of a Jaromir was posted yesterday, but quick rundown: handsome, hot guy with worldly knowledge, very generous, perfect shape, great hair, perfect face.

  28. Tough day for me- going to my wife business partner’s house late this afternoon. He is Italian, so they serve the traditional festa dei sette pesci dinner just for us, because we have to leave earlier. I’m usually full by the middle of that feast. Then we are leaving and spending the whole Christmas Eve with mrs’ family. They serve the traditional South American Christmas fair, which essentially consists of more food than I will eat for the rest of the week. Or two.

  29. Good Christmas Eve, Carp!

I had a blast watching (most of) the game with yous guys last night. My New Years resolution is to make time to watch more Rangers games.

To all you celebrating XMas, I hope you all drink lots of egg nog, get expensive presents, and suck face under some mistletoe! That’s what you do, right? To the rest of yous, enjoy your Chinese food!

Ilb, I can’t imagine what a “bad day at work” is like for you. I’m sending you and Mrs Ilb a big giant hug.

  30. ilb, I am grossly full just reading that, but have a great time. you’ve earned it.

tiki, am I dreaming? do I need new glasses???? lol……and thanks!

OK all, mama’s mama is poking at me to get offline and get moving, so that I must do. A happy merry everything to everyone, and Carp especially!!!!

    LGR and TA!

  31. Good Christmas Eve, Sally!

    lmao Sally!!! you slay me!

by the way, for the first time EVER in my life, I am not having my traditional Christmas day dinner. We’re going to the Chinese Buffet!! Ilb, I am jealous!!!

I guess I will just do all my airings next year, just worked too late last night to drop in.

Hope you all have a great and fantastic day today, especially you ILB after the rough one!!

    I’m off to work!

    Later assens!

  35. Geez, I guess if we all worked as much as Wicky does our economy might’ve been be in a much better shape, eh?

  36. Have to admit I’m very, very impressed with Tort’s attitude.
Is this the same man from last year ?

AND..What ever your holiday is – MERRY, MERRY, MERRY !

  37. Tiki - I heart Brett Favre on

i mean, does wicky ever get a break ?? if i were wicky’s boss, id give him the whole month of december off and a giant holiday bonus!

ok, so last night i put polaner raspberry all fruit in the chocolate chip cookies. MMMMMMMM, next batch I’ll put more of the raspberry in it. Experimenting right now to get it just right so I can send some cookies to some of my loverly Boneheads, hopefully once the New Year rolls around

  39. Michael Roszival on

    Merry Christmas everyone!

I already gave my gift to my secret Santa last night (Martin St Louis) … I wonder what I’ll receive?

  40. It’s not like Parise’s return would turn their season around. Let him fully recover. We need him for US team.

Apparently, I need to shave for Christmas Eve…WTB?

  41. Carp:

Obvious difference. A woodchuck chucks wood, a ground hog hogs ground, and a gopher gets you coffee.

  42. Tiki - I heart Brett Favre on

lol @ ilby having to shave!!

man, all this food talk is making me starving! tony, lucky lucky man you are! strufella….yummy!

  43. maybe im out of the loop on something but why wasnt fedetenko shooting in the SO ahead of freakin rosival et al.?

  44. Lindaasen CalPrustBoylahan on

jt, we’re all baffled still by the Rozsival selection.

    yummeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Tony!!

    and wouldnt it be gopherzo??

  45. Tiki - I heart Brett Favre on

jt – it’s just another example of the unprepared, unaware, un-knowledgeable new york coaching. :)

  46. Tiki - I heart Brett Favre on

tony – i agree with you. of all the new york coaches, i think Torts is doing the best job and he’s doing it with less.

  47. Blowzy scored a sweet goal on a penalty shot. It’s a weird decision to choose him over the people that went after him, but a lot of teams do this, and it works. It just didn’t work for us.

And I don’t know why people are complaining that he chose Gilroy, and Stahl. Stahl has some moves, and scored on a breakaway earlier this season, and Gilroy scored a goal in a pre-season shootout against the Devs last year, using a nice move, so he knows what to do in the shootout.

In fact, Gilly had the best chance. He beat Ellis, but couldn’t lift the puck. Shame.

Aves sucks at shooting, so enough of this “Aves should have been picked, waaahh” BS. That puck would have hit a baby in the face if he went in the shootout. Torts just saved some kids Christmas. As for Feds, I’m not even sure if he ever participated in the shootout.

Should have done things the White way :P

  48. Lindaasen CalPrustBoylahan on

ORR,not only are you terrible, you’re hilarious too! Hope you have a great Christmas, and hope you get to enjoy all the tasty food!

  49. 1.) I was at the game last night, and for a holiday crowd, it was pretty loud in there.

2.)The shootout was such a HUGE letdown though. How is it that Rozi goes in before Staal (if you’re gonna put a D-Man in there that is). Torts has made many a questionable decision when it comes to those shootouts.

3.) Both teams played pretty well, and you can definitely tell that the lighting are the real deal because no matter how much the Rangers may have dominated play throughout most of the game, the Lights didn’t take any undisciplined penalties.

4.) How about the Hobbit? Good for Torts giving the young guys a real chance.

    5.) How about that Stepan?

6.) So what are the Lightning going to give the Rangers after the Rangers gift-wrapped two delicious goals for them in the first period?

  50. on a break from working retail.

just stopping by to wish everyone a Merry Christmas
    and Happy Holiday Season!!

and many thanks for the “gift” of this site, all the Boneheads
    and our fearless leader Carp!

    btw
good insights on last night’s….as usual.

  51. Tony from Ariz. 11:34 Re Tortorella No he’s not the same man. Seems to of had an epiphany. Must be the change of meds or the off season Anger manaement sessions or even his hip relacement. He’s even nice to Brooksie. For a time, I wanted his head but he’s doing a darn good job. Like his overall game plan. I just wish he would roll 4 lines more often.

  52. jt, I was reading one of the blogs this morning, maybe it was Andrew Gross, and he said that Fedotenko was 0-3 in shootouts and Tortorella asked him about it, and asked him to be honest, and that Fedotenko’s answer seemed to be that he wasn’t very confident in himself.

I also happen to think this particular coach, and his assistant — while you can question their from-the-seat-of-the-pants shootout strategy — have done a magnificent job with this roster. Magnificent.

OK, Tony, I’m going to embarrass myself and ask you, what is Struffela?

  53. Thought my brother said it, I agree. Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and thanks for the gift of this site.

  54. Tony from AZ, we call it struffoli. My grandparents were from Bagnoli Iripino and Grandma made it every Christmas

  55. See Carp, how agreeable I can be.

Lousy is the word for a shootout ‘loss’. Entertaining though shootouts may be,
I can’t get past it being a tie game in my mind.

That the league decides to award another point after shootouts are decided barely registers, unless we miss the playoffs, by, oh, let’s say, 1-point.

It also begs the question whether shootout ‘points’ should count in some fashion.

For a player like Christensen, it’s almost his entire reason for being on this team.

    Am I missing something?

  56. I have to say that Torts and Co. have made me into a believer. I was not a fan of tort’s but he and his crew have done wonders with this team. I think the shootout advantage is just plain confidence, and also just luck. I have often wondered why they don’t just shoot more.

  57. First of all, since I won’t be around to say it tomorrow, Merry Christmas to you and yours, Carp. Keep on keepin’ on with the great work here and at the Garden. Also, Merry Christmas to all on RR who celebrate the holiday. The best part of the day after Festivus is that you don’t have to waste time returning the gifts that you don’t want or that don’t fit.

A few Christmas wishes for youse:

Carp – Some kind of an award for putting up with the likes of us 24/7/365. Heaven knows you’ve earned one!

Mama – I hope Santa leaves you some Avery in your stocking.

Fran and Tony from AZ – One more parade down the Canyon of Heroes for the Rangers in our lifetime. Heaven knows we’ve earned it!

For all the rest of you – a stocking ful of Rangers wins in the new year.

  58. Checking in with quiickly…

Made it home safe and sound to NY. Had a delicious dinner at a local hot dog legend, then spent the night laughing my assen off at Jeff Dunham and his puppets, while hanging with my Dad and our dog. Sorry I couldn’t make the game, but that was more important. Besides, being back in upstate NY, that meant the Sabres game was on MSG (Dad doesn’t get Center Ice like I do).

From what I’ve read, it was a good game for the boys, and one where they definitely won’t let it ruin this Christmas. Good to heard MZA did well and looked like he belonged.

We’re off to mass in a few, so wanted to wish you a happy Christmas Eve and a Merry and wonderful Christmas if you celebrate it. (hugs for all)

  59. jpg’s sister, you’re probably right with the spelling.
    I can’t spell Stuffela – but I sure can eat it !
BTW, my wife & my family are from Palermo, Sicily. That explains why we can’t spell – LOL

  60. No, Rod, you aren’t missing anything. I agree with you. Tortorella loves Christensen, for some reason, as if he’s a pet project. But I do think the reason he gets more chances than others is that he is a weapon in that necessary evil known as the skills competition.

My New Year’s resolution, as per your suggestion (sort of), is to be more inclusive of all readers, and not have the Boneheads make this place an exclusive club. Besides, we could sure use more traffic here. Well, that’s among my resolutions.

Are youse guys planning on stopping by tomorrow, even though it’s Christmas? Because I had an idea that might work. And our friend, Joe-kuh, volunteered to do a guest post for Sunday.

  61. I won’t be around tomorrow, Carp, that’s why I left my greetings earlier. Off to my brother’s for Christmas Eve, then sleeping at myh daughter’s house to get up with the grandkids. We’ll then make the rounds tomy other 3 kid’s p;aces to see their kids and then back to my daughter’s for Christmas dinner. By the time I get back tomorrow night to open gifts with my wife, I’m sure I’ll be too tired to do anything but go to sleep.

  62. Julie-Who hardly ever posts on

Just dropping in to say Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone here!

  63. Jay Riemenschneider on

I’d be willing to bet the NHL not playing on Christmas is a result of their contract with the players association. I’d be shocked if Buttman wouldn’t be foaming to get hockey on TV Christmas day.

  64. Lindaasen CalPrustBoylahan on

    Merry Christmas Julie!! POST MORE!!

Buttman foaming at the mouth, like the rabid weasel he is! grrrrrrrrrr

  65. Julie-Who hardly ever posts on

Thank you Linda! I will try to post more. It’s hard because they monitor us at work. Plus, I work a lot of OT, so I’m tired when I get home, but I promise, I will try harder to get on here!

  66. Lindaasen CalPrustBoylahan on

well Julie, thats a pretty good reason to not post much lol!! But pop in when you can!!

  67. Rangers played really well. Grinding and forechecking and creating chances and puck possession.

This team does not quit. A few years ago when the other team scored first you could see the team getting away from their gameplan w/ desperation and mistakes. They play like the score is 0-0 all the time now and I love that.

Win would have been nice but I’ll take the point.

    Merry Christmas everyone!

  68. Not to be a negative nancy most of the shootout attempts were terrible may as well just try and slap it past the goaltender (and I would have had a few guys ahead of others). How many was he able to just poke check away?

    Good game though!

  69. And I like this Weise kid. He knows he’s going to have to drop the gloves to earn a spot and can fight. I see him getting callups especially with Boogaard out. Prust can’t do all the fighting.

As much as I love Avery and his willingness to drop the gloves with anyone I don’t want him going up against the heavyweights because of injury history. He’s a bit inconsistent but when he’s on he’s on. The guy can play!

  70. Some sad news: Pierre Turgeon’s 18 year old daughter Elizabeth died in an accident in New Mexico.

Prayers go out to Pierre and his family.

  71. Just checking in between Italian and Spanish dinners lol.
Carp, I’ll be around tomorrow to support whatever ideas you have to make this place more inclusive. I’m sure all the boneheads will be happy to support too.

  72. JBytes,

    6) By losing it while playing hockey, not some game of breakaways you might play in your driveway. You lose playing hockey, win playing hockey. Or tie, playing hockey.

What a shame about Pierre Turgeon’s daughter. He was a true gentleman of the sport.

miked, sorry to hear that. Make the best of it.

Julie, don’t get yourself into trouble, but if you can stop by more often, please do.

  73. Tony Z, lol about the spelling. My Dad spells phonetically. My Mom’s side of the family is from Calabria, not too far from Sicily, paisano.

Thanks Old Coach for the sentiments. I remember those days running back and forth to both Grandparents’ houses on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day , eating and then opening gifts on Dec.26

Speaking of Dec 26, a regulation win

  74. Merry Christmas eve to all!

Carp, thanks for your input/analysis, very insightful as always. I have a few things to add…

    1) I was so impressed with Zuccarello to come up and play over 17 minutes! The best part about him is that he is young and will improve his game. He’s smooth with the puck and has a very quick snapshot…yet he did glide a bit out there on the back-check and was weak in front of the net on the Vinny goal…but he’ll learn to play better defense. It was fun to watch how he can dodge checks and still control the puck.

    2) Break up the Staal/Girardi pairing for Messier’s sake! Blowzy has been awful and deserves a stint in Reddenville.

    3) Froloaf has been noticeably good lately…still wish he was gone though…

    4) Stepan will be a franchise player for this team for years to come. Captain America in the making? ;)

    Happy Xmas everyone!!

  76. tony from AZ, our family always called them struffoli…and yes, YUMMY!!

ilb, i have similar dynamic in my family…eye-talian on my side and my wife-to-be is Mexican. Good food all around!!

Merry Christmas all! May your stockings be filled with dubikisses!! xoxox

  77. I’m not even going to begin to blame MZA on that goal…Girardi’s fault IMO. Zucc’s responsibility is actually the point man. The centerman’s job is to pick up loose body in front. I can’t remember where center was on that play…but it seemed like Zucc came down to low…and when he did come down he stayed on far side of net which was pointless.

    MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BIG HUGS AND LOVE TO ALL YOUSE GUYS!!!!!!!!!!!!

geez i hope i got Rangers sleepy pants!!

  79. I actually found a tv in one of my daughter’s homes that had the Ranger game on and thought it was a rather well played game. The shootout ( which I normally don’t care for), was very intense and became exciting. Perhaps I’.m wrong. I too was non plussed about Roszival taking a shot whole others sat on the bench who notably could have done better.

It seems that just about every time the fans begin to mellow on Torts, he does something incomprehensible. Like hanging on to White and using Roszival so much.

Too bad for LQ…he did yeoman work there in the nets. I was surprised that Malone was used so late in the game. NOw I’ve found the spots where MSG hockey comes up, this trip won’t be so stifling after the family gatherings are finished. Still have a trip out of East Haddam to make. For a small State, CT has a lot of winding and hilly back roads, and it seems that I have to catch them all to find my kids. Ahh but the grand daughters are superb ( all larger than me now). So sweet.
tbw is keeping track of things for I am hideously forgetful about finding small items, and recalling where they are.

It’s been cold indeed, but not much more so than Florida when we left it. Much as I lvoe coming up here to visit…I really look forward to getting back. Hope you all had a gret Christma, and I fervently hope you all have a good 2011.
