It’s Go Time!

I got nothin’. Unless you want to count frostbite.

It might be colder here than it is in Minnesota tonight.

So have fun. See youse all later.

  1. I wanted to put this on this post..

I met someone today named Dick Burns. Seriously. Can you imagine if this guy – when he was younger – at parties….introducing himself as “Im Dick Burns”

In a loud environment, someone could mistake the guy as being rude, saying “My Dick Burns’

  2. did anybody hear gary stanley’s sports update this morning on 880? apparently, derek stephon scored the only goal in the rangers loss to the colorado rockies.

when you get cold, I guess you can’t sit on your hands because it would impede you from writing, right?

you are cracking me up bro!!

how many st. laurels were caused by st. lucia last thread??

  4. Howdy, gang.

I just spent all day shopping for Xmas presents and my bank account might hate me now, but it was worth it!

Boys need to bring it tonight.

    IT IS …………….TIME!!!!!!

  6. CTB, that it is. I actually like going to a mall and browsing through the stores since I never know what I’m getting people until I see it in my hands. Of course, that always leads to me buying more than I planned for spending, lol. What’s going to kill me this year is shipping everything back to NY.

  7. ZzZz NYR ZzZz " gonna get wild in here !!!"...& Greg L. on

YO YO YO YO YO ..YO tis meeeeee!!!!!

    GO RANGERSSSS!!!!!!!!!1

  8. I have a suggestion for the RR lexicon.

Smid should = Joke. Because he’s a joke of an NHLer.

Like when a person says “i kid, i kid” it should be I Smid, I Smid.

or when the referees blatantly miss a call in our favor, i can yell.

  9. ZzZz NYR ZzZz " gonna get wild in here !!!"...& Greg L. on

Haha funny you ask Mickey!!! Ive had none…but I have 2 fresh timmies right here right now!!!!

I agree, I thought they pulled him to save him for tonight’s game!!

  11. wicky – me too. i thought he came out early so he’d start today. poor coaching decision, even if it works out in our favor with a W tonight.

    I can’t believe it.

    GO RANGERSSSSSSSSSSSSSS we love youuuuuuuuuuuuuuseee!!!

  17. wicky, it’s been all right, so far. Nice place, but not home, ya know. I haven’t made it down there yet, sad to say. My first game there might be in January for the Rangers game.

  18. wicky© (BOYLE=teammate...EC=not so much!) on

well, when you go, let me know if they still have “towel guy” that does his thing after each blues goal.

Not a bad arena, I went to 39 of their 41 home games one year when I was in grad school!

  19. wicky, most definitely will do. Is there a parking garage down there, or is it on- street?

    And yes, Prust is playing.

  20. ZzZz NYR ZzZz " gonna get wild in here !!!"...& Greg L. on

    N. Country you are not alone. I cant see Carp either!!! Just lame ol NHL network!!!!!!

  21. wicky© (BOYLE=teammate...EC=not so much!) on

yes there is. There is a metro stop right there as well.

    Thanks for the prust info.

  22. Their passing makes our look like a bunch of pee wee players. EESH.

    wicky, most excellent! Thanks.

  23. N.CountryNYRFan on

yeah I’m watching the NHL network as well, MTL vs. the Leaves…god I can’t stand the Canadians, Blomez sucks

  24. N.CountryNYRFan on

the rangers PP has been so bad lately I wish it was like football where you can decline a penalty

  25. wicky© (BOYLE=teammate...EC=not so much!) on

    Mickey (and all)
I’m out. Catch you guys after I watch the dvr!

  26. I’ve looked around at other in-game threads and no one has a working link for the game. Sorry, gang :(

  27. Because Aves can’t shoot to save his life. For everything else he does good on the ice, the guy either shoots right into the breadbasket, or he shoots fifty feet wide and thirty feet high.

  28. Honestly can we do away with this stupid puck over glass delay of game penalty? It’s such and awful and cheap penalty to give and and could definitely be dealt with without awarding a power play.

  29. ZzZz NYR ZzZz " gonna get wild in here !!!"...& Greg L. on

Ty NHL on the Fly …I saw the goals!!!!

  30. The only reason that penalty is around is because players would deliberately throw it into the crowd if they were under pressure at the end of a shift. It’s an unfair play, and I don’t mind it at all.

The trapezoid BS is a whole other story.

  31. ZzZz NYR ZzZz " gonna get wild in here !!!"...& Greg L. on

I cant believe the wrap-around finaly worked. It actually finnaly worked. It wasnt actually worked this time. Frolov is sooo WRAP-AROUND HAPPY …actually had one work!!!???

  32. Good job for Del Zotto to admit to a lousy game last night, reboot his brain, and play a strong game tonight.

  33. ZzZz NYR ZzZz " gonna get wild in here !!!"...& Greg L. on

whoaaaa i need to spash some water on my face ~ OH YEAHHHHHH wese all good now!!!!

Rangers look goood!!! I cant see a thing but im happy!!!!

  34. >>Honestly can we do away with this stupid puck over glass delay of game penalty?

NO! It’s one of the better rules recently introduced to the game. It was ridiculous having players constantly flip the puck over the glass.

  35. I can’t believe the wrap-around move worked for Frolov, that must have been the 20th time he tried it…I’ll take it!

  36. Joe M and Sam before the game couldn’t shut up about how great Minnesota’s goaltending is…

Got anything to say now? I didn’t think so

  37. WOW! Nice score to wake up to!

I was sleeping, heard something about Dubinsky on a breakaway and then a “HE SCOOORES!”

Then i hear we’re up 4-0, i had to wake up!

Very nice response to the last 2 games we played.

  38. Again, I wish we had a viable backup like Biron when Jaromir was here. Would have been a GIANT help. Instead, we set ourselves back with AHLers like Steve Vally.

I think Carp said that we had 3 wins all season in 2009-2010 from our backups. This makes 4 for Biron.

  39. Who cares…it’s okay to have a mental lapse up 4-0 in a game. i hope we have a mental lapse or two up 4-0 in every game for the rest of the season.

  40. It dont matter Orr! Only thing that matters are the Ws and the growth of our young talent. Nice answer by Feds to seal the deal.

  41. Tank The Season on

This is what happens when we get contributions from multiple players whom we routinely goat for doing nothing.

  42. Linda CalPrustBoylahan on

good win, congrats Torts on #300

congrats Flavah on your first assist of the year. and Prustie is hardcore to the max!

  43. >>Devils lose again as well. Weee! Nice night.

I came back just to post that. AND, Kovalchuk was held scoreless again.

  44. man… that entire Hockey Night live panel just took turns giving Colin Campbell blow jobs…

they couldn’t stop talking how great Colin is and how much pressure his job is and bah blah blah…

freaking annoying… cant wait for the Colin the clown to retire

  45. Poor Boogard ..or is it double A?) If you were six foot twelve, and only slightly lighter in weight than a Hippo, you’d find little to smile about too. But actually he does have a small smile most of the time on his face ( or gas pains), but he’s Mr Mild most of the time.

Clutterbuck eh? That’s a real name? It sure sounds like something from the Harry Potter fantasies.

  46. I was some what surprised that the “Wild” ( that name kills me),went so quietly in front of their home crowd.Only unusual thing Inoticed was that there seemed to be a lot fewer long ocean to ocean passes in this game.

  47. I like Lundquist’s unusal style. In my book he is the best goaltender we have had in the last 30 years. Sometimes He is incredible and others ordinary because he seems to forget the basics, Like hugging the post, stick flat. The clip they showed last night with him practicing with Benoit and Mike that was what they were doing. Biron even gave up a not hugging the post last night. I have come to appreciate just how hard a position goaltending is and that there is alot you must be aware of at all times and even the best have a hard time doing it all correct. Lundquist needs the team to limit the shots and chances on him. All too often the opponents get over 30 shot and even with Hank’s save percentage that’s too many. I know I’m going ot get flack that Richter was better but he played with better defensive teams and check out his stats often times during any season he was not even in the top 30 of any stat.
There is no goaltender who hasn’t been scored on.

  48. Doodie Machetto on

MDZ’s goal was the perfect picture of him correcting what has been wrong. He waited and made a smart decision with the puck. The shorthanded goal was the definition of his problems: going for the big play instead of the smart one and getting burned for it.

  49. Lundquist : save percentage .914 rank 22nd, goals against 2.75 rank 25th, shots against 475 (ten others with more including Neuvirth,Price, and Bobrovsky). Lundquist is a mediocre goalie that has occasional flashes of brilliance.

  50. steve i agree. also, biron made some good saves but for long stretches, was not busy at all. the way the team plays in front of hank is different. lax and giving up too many odd mans against. even last night they tightened up after the first, and wild had few real quality chances on beeraww. hank is a better goalie no doubt, and colorado is a way better offensive team than minny. its early, and maybe hank is finally feeling some pressure from biron. ya never know .

  51. Dangir –
Have you posted before? I think you should pledge your allegiance to the Red, White and Blue before being so critical of a core player :)

  52. dangir- thats this year buddy. look at his whole body of work first before just putting out a 20 game stretch where hes been average. i swear, next game hank wins and plays great, i swear were gonna see comments about teh 1 goal he gave up and how he shoul;dve stopped it. in his 5-6 years playing, hes been tops in alot of stat categories, been pretty consistent year to year, maybe not game to game. but overall, he is having a great career. he needs to get better of course, but he will. watch.

  53. an comparing hank to richter is totally unfair. richters stats were not mind blowing. like its been said he had a much better d in front of him, and when he didnt, he wasnt as good.

  54. you gotta be kidding about comparing hank in a month and half of playing to bobrovsky and price/neuvirth. cmon. look at the teams 2 of them play for. caps who spend 3/4 of the game in the other teams end, the flyers who have guys like pronger, coburn, meszaros, all big physical d men. and their offense is about on par with the rest of the best teams in the league. price sucked for how long???

  55. i swear ddeb its not me!!! i swear by the moon and the stars and the sky that i am not that guy!! i swear i cant believe that song got 6 n half million views!! damn.

  56. ddebened, I rarely post here but read Rangers Report regularly. Do I have permission to post now? Career NHL stats .917 and 2.34 (playoffs; .907 and 2.66) for King Henrik. Not bad. I like Lundquist, I just don’t love him, that’s all.

  57. Dangir-

No, you have reading rights only, a tribal council will be held to determine if posting rights will be granted.

    The tribe has spoken.

  58. I’m kidding of course and don’t mean to be a Zharkov or make you feel unwelcome but…

The modern military salute originated from men in armor raising the visors of their helmets to reveal his identity.

    friend or foe?

Just saying, I got to have my guys back in this instance.

  59. If it wasn’t for that mediocre goaltender we would be still looking for that elusive first playoff appearance since 1997.

  60. Well said Ilb. It must just be that no one is good enough in NY for some fans. I mean who the heck would be better than Lundqvist as our starter at this point? Pick any goalie from the league and put him on this team with this style of play and these dmen and tell me who is going to be leaps and bounds better. Who is going to be better than top 5 in wins and save % like Lundqvist. Luongo? He’s the only one I could think of who played with a crappy team in front of him back in the Panther days. Again, maybe some people here should put things in perspective and be thankful that we aren’t in the same boat as teams like Philly and Ottawa who haven’t had the luxury of NOT having a question mark in between the pipes EVER.

  61. fran – you are a funny funny guy! I love many of your jokes.

As for Henrik, only goalie to win 30+ in his first five seasons in the league. On top of that, playing 70+ games in each of the last 4 seasons with very little defensive help takes its toll on a guy. Without Hank….well I. L. B. put it best.

  62. only the typical sports fan can annoint the philly goalie the next ken dryden affter 15 starts…

why even respond to fools like that?

henrik while not being great so far this year is a top 5 goalie in the nhl he is 28 years old and quite afoundation for the franchise..

like saying trade staal at 23 since he is not a 15 goal scorer…not wise.

    it is a long season…..

  63. but Tiki haven’t you seen Bobrovsky play the first 2 months of this season? He totally makes it obvious that Hank is just mediocre. We should package him up with Stepan, Dubinsky and Del Zotto so we can bring in a REAL goalie like Garon from Columbus. He has a 1.08 goals against Average and it’s already November!!

  64. You are all giving me a complex now.

Here I was writing in what I thought was clear and comprehensive English, and it’s like I was speaking a foreign language.

Where did I state or even imply that LQ was not a very good goal tender? And please don’t belabor me with what would they have done IF… back then. There is no way to measure what ifs.

I am NOT calling for his removal. I am trying to get across that in MY OPINION he should always stay a Ranger…but he’s a work in progress. He is reasonably good…but he could be so much more with not that much extra effort and attention to details.

A renowned virtuoso Concert Pianist once said that
he never stops learning – and he practices every single day. He also said that when he goes a day without practice, he notices it. And when he goes two days without practice, his fellow musicians notice it…….and when he goes three days without practice – his audience notices it.

I would like to see someone like Emile Francis step in and show LQ some of his old technique.

Look at it this way……..what are LQ’ moves? He warms up in the goal mouth and P-R-A-C-T-I-C-E-S……..his butterfly drop. As if this were the move that he is deficient in. He has perfected the butterfly !
    He OWNS it. Would it shatter his entire being to be taught and try practicing the double deck pad slide forward with pads together on shooters and check his diagonal line to see what the shooter sees? ( all of this during practice of course.) And don’t forget, there is another player in this dynamic and never forget him;

Keeping in mind that Stickblade sees what the shooter and goaltender cannot see.the true line of direction of the shot that is being readied. I believe that Russian players are made very aware of Stickblade at a very early age. How come? Because they seem to be more advanced than many north americanos at putting home shots from what looks like impossible angles.

Might also answer the question as to why so many Ranger kids shots go wide of the net.

    Zherdev anyone?

Believe it or not…I used to play this game back when I was a left shooting right wing by default. I always wanted to play left wing, but was never allowed to. In fact I was barely allowed on the team.

Some time I’ll let you in on a couple of my adventures as a “player”. ( But remember…don’t laugh.) I\’m really quite …ah, sensitive.
