The Rangers head out for a two-game trip with the minimum 12 forwards, and one extra D-man.
Which means pretty much everybody who played Monday plays in Toronto tomorrow.
Martin Biron is expected to get his first Rangers start in the next three games (in four days), and I’m expecting that to be in Boston Saturday, with Lundqvist getting the start vs. the Devils on Sunday.

Today’s my day off, and I’m taking it off after this.
In the meantime, over at Mitch Beck’s Howlings blog, Bruce Berlet had a story about Wade Redden’s acclimation in Hartford. You have to scroll down a bit to read it.

I know there are still bugs being worked out with this new design. I’m having some problems with an ad that prevents my main RR page from loading. Some of you have said you keep getting asked to fill out a LoHud form each time you open RR. So please keep me informed. The best way would be by email (rcarpini@LoHud.com). Keep in mind that the tech guys—who are really at work on this—need info such as PC or Mac, the browser you’re using, and exact details of what happens if and when you have a problem.

In case you missed it, this clown Rypien on Vancouver got into it with a Minnesota fan last night. He ought to be getting a nice vacation. He also deserves a game or two off for the sucker-punch he threw after the linesmen jumped into the original altercation.

Morning, ‘heads!
I have no problems at the moment. With multiple locations, including iPhone and iPad.
ORR- I think they’ll throw the book at Rypien.
ilb, don’t drive either one.
Good morning, Sally, 26!
Carp, but if you drive both at the same time it feels like convertible…
I actually don’t. It’s worth than DUI according to some studies. My son was doing it for awhile. We had to talk, and I promised to never txt or use internet while driving. So did he.
worse, not worth…
And why am I talking to myself?
I don’t know if anyone noticed, but Bieksa also tapped a fan with his stick. I wonder if he’ll face any discipline. It wasn’t that much of a shot, but it was contact.
Anyway, I think I’m in the mood for a chalupa. I hope CR isn’t drowning in tears after last nights Yankees loss. It’s been a bad week for him.
There was some semi-famous surgeon who got into an accident while texting. I think he drove right off a cliff or something.
hhmm, I usually only text while driving drunk and also while reading this blog on my laptop.
JK, I mostly ride a motorcycle and I see so many people out there driving while texting or talking on the cell. It amazes me how many people do that on the road. When I drive my truck, I never text or use the cell phone. If I need to make a call, I will pull over somewhere and use it.
Rypien should be suspended for both the sucker punch and grabbing that fan. The fan may have been taunting him, but that does not give him the right to grab the person.
I swear, I’d rather be on the road with a bunch of drunk drivers than these texters.
I believe that the fine should be similar to DUI charges.
Good morning all! Gotta go….later!
FIRE SATHER WE SUCK
How refreshingly new…
Morning iphone drivers and all!!!
vtank….yes !!!
Rypien…bad BAD move!!!
I think torts is way out of line. 3 of our 4 lines had decent chemistry, he should leave them intact. Replace an out player with a new player and leave lines alone to get consistency. Technically we are out 1 player from opening night and since we brilliantly (not really) sent down kennedy, put white in on gabby’s line and there you go. If that line now becomes the 3rd or 4th line…fine, leave the rest intact. Slats needs to acquire a d man badly and bring up vtank as well!

I got a bad feeling this season is going to be long and painful.
tomg: After watching this team in person these first two home games, I would have to completely agree with you. Gonna be a long season, unfortunately…
I had to catch myself from texting while driving just last night. Its truly dangerous.
Man, society as a whole is just becoming pansified!! Why all this whining about hits not only in hockey, but in the NFL?? I mean there is boxing, MMA, etc etc out there. People watch these stupid things all the time…on pay per view even! The NHL and NFL are worried about hits in a contact sport?
I have a simple solution for the NHL. Get rid of the 3rd man in instigator rule and get rid of the STUPID rule about fighting in the last 5 minutes of a game. Games have gotten so boring in the last 5 minutes it is pathetic.
Picture the NHL with those rules gone…..in the 2nd period matt cooke blindsides kessel with an illegal hit, refs arm goes up with penalty, off comes the monster from goal and orr jumps off the bench and makes a beeline right to cooke and proceeds to pummel him. Problem solved. No penalty to orr (other than fighting). Toronto still gets PP due to illegal hit and cooke seriously thinks about never ever doing that again after his face has been rearranged! Problem solved!!
How many games did milbury get suspended for going into the stand during the shoe incident??
Rypien was wrong, but that “fan” was probably doing more than just clapping. Ask Torts.
The fan was high-fiving as he was escorted out of the game—it’s one thing to chant “fire Sather”, it’s another to think you have a right to interact in the game itself. No one pays money to see some dimwitted fan in action.
Good day all. I have been wondering why White is still there, Kennedy is young, and although he is small, he looked a lot better in camp. I just don’t get why they didn’t keep him. Not that he would make a huge differance on this team right now, but I think he will be better player than White. White really has not been impressive at all thus far. I would rather see them bring up some of the Hartford guys while there are injurys. Bring them up and let them play I say. I really don’t know how the waivers thing works. I mean who they can saftely bring up and who they can’t. Eminger in my opinion has not been great. I wonder why it would not be better to play some of the young D men right now. There are lot of teams doing it, This team is not really a powerhouse right now. I am sure there are reasons they are doing what they are doing. I just don’t know all the in and outs about it. I know it’s early and this team will get some better, hopefully a lot better, but for now it’s like watching last years version all over again.
Hockey
yes, it would be nice to actually hear the logic behind some of the decisions. I would also like to know who really has a the say in who stays and who goes, is it slats or torts?
who has “the” say not a the say. sorry
Well, it’s official. Frolov has begun the BS “our scoring is inevitable” routine (from NYP):
“We have enough guys who are going to score,” he said. “If we do the right thing and are strong defensively, something is going to happen for us.”
No, it won’t. No, you don’t. Welcome to the Rangers.
Remember the last couple years when everyone was like “imagine if our PK wasn’t incredible?” Worse than I imagined.
Yeah, okay, it’s only a couple games in. But there’s not a lot to be psyched about. Doesn’t even seem like there’s a ton of youthful mistakes that are going to fade away.
I think it’s Sather, He seems to be a hands on type of guy. But no mater who is making the decisions I say they go against all logic, in my opinion. That’s why I assume there has be a lot more stuff involved than I understand.
Gross tweeted all non-injured players at practice except Dubinsky….
someone said spezza not on ice with the sens…..start the trade rumours (I”M KIDDING)!!!!
I really don’t know what to expect from Frolov, He strikes me to be a slow skater, He is supposed to be a garbage goal guy, so maybe he will work out. I don’t care how they go in. I am half expecting ( I guess I should say hopeing) Duby to have a good year this year, he has been playing with confidence so far. Callahan has been good as usual, and Artie showes signs of inprovement. I like that line I think they have been good, so I expect that line will be changed. I wondered if Boyle would still be up with the big club in the beginning of camp, but he also has been a bright spot. Avery has been working very hard most shifts. The goaltending situation seems to be much better. Man! Why is this team losing with all these good things going on.
Good News Everyone! Anna is back!
http://www.nypost.com/p/news/international/sexy_anna_has_nice_app_TYSc1YAif3DIdI0fVRAUsN
because we’re not scoring, or keeping pucks out of our net. that’s really what it comes down to, at the end of the game.

What?! We didn’t claim Jamie Lundmark off of waivers? This is a travesty. ;)

Anna Torv? Nope!
Anna Kornikova? Nyet!
Pass!
guaranteed if Avery pulled a Rypien the Carcillo would hit the fan more than it would any other playa.
>>Rypien…bad BAD move!!!
I’m looking forward to hearing what Mike Milbury has to say about that subject.
staal wearing A until prospal returns
jbytes
yep, that will be interesting..was milbury suspended??
Has Milbury been worse than usual lately?
Has Milbury been worse than usual lately?

even at his best he is still the worst!
JB
that redheaded ‘Bond’ Anna ain’t that bad! Kornikova is overrated and a typical looking Russian chick…so i’m not too impressed with her. Anna Torv is good… i really love her in “Fringe”
and thanks for the cookies suggestion.
It just struck me, that you guys are talking about when the Bruins went over the boards and into the stands at Madison square all those years ago. I really don’t remember if he was suspended, if he wasn’t he should have been.
MIlbury got 6 games for “the shoe game” according to wikipedia.
I agree that Milbury has been a full time idiot for years, But since he has become a talking head I pay no attention to him. I do wonder what he brings to the NHL though. To me he’s just another loud mouth.
joekuh
thanks for the milbury info!
Ha! I was wondering why my skin was itchy during the long meeting I just had. You were talking about Milbury….
I think Mitch is going to have to rename his blog to “Blowings.”
ilb
I know a couple of doctors if you need help with that skin condition!!
I saw that Anna is going to do Maxim. I saw the cover online before. Russian spy babe!
And for the record, if this season is “long and painful” then I wont mind. I’m all for a #1 overall pick or top 3. It’s still way too early though. The Canes looked horrible last year, but nearly made the playoffs.
What Rypien did was wrong and there is no excuse for any physical contact with a fan. These guys have been playing in front of fans for years by the time they play in the NHL and they’ve heard it all from drunks and a$$hats. It doesn’t matter what the fan said, a player has to control himself.
in regards to Anna
nice app
but i’m not sure about her hotness
some photos, yes
some others
not so much
Good afternoon ladies and gents. I have not heard from CR yet, and honestly, I am worried about him!!
I had a dream last might that sather traded Cally and Dubi for Souray!!!
You guys think we are nuts? Yesterday, these women in the lunch room were, of course, talking college football. That’s all fine and good,BUT, they knew where coaches kids AND grandiose go to school, and where their wives prefer!
Grandkids damnit!!
Linda
could you be more specific about where exactly their wives prefer, please! Thanks! :P
yes,
are you talking about where they “prefer” to go to dinner?
or the attire they prefer on gameday??
or do they prefer Laffy Taffy or Jolly Rancher?
Oy!! How the hell does an entire sentence not post?? Yes, prefer to go to dinner, BUT, it would not surprise me if they knew the other bannable thing too!!! So this guy with a porky pig nose said” that’s what makes southern women great, they know their football, not like the ladies in the northeast”. One of the women then said if we were in the northeast we’d be talking about “ice hockey”. I nearly peed my pants… Ice hockey! Anyway, if I wasn’t a temp, I would have said something. I had no idea that knowing where a coaches grandchildren go to school was necessary info to know about sports!!
Besides, impressing a southern man with nostrils bigger than my eye sockets is not on my list of things to do!
Laffy taffy !!!! Lmfao!!
Linda,
Since when do you work in the Calgary Flames org? You’re talking about Ollie Jokinen right?
JPG, Her hotness is more of the fact that she’s a spy. That’s too hot!
If Megan Fox was a spy, my body would explode! And I’m talking aboot my entire body, not just one part :P
these things just SUCK!!!

Parent/Teacher Conferences start in 20 minutes. FML. I am still sick as a dog, but came in today because of the conferences. I’d rather be dragged out back and done like Lenny right now.
Nasty, just tell the parents, “we’re gonna win this race”.
wicky – is there not some inconsistency between your insistence that there is no problem with the type and ferocity of hitting in the NHL/NFL and your sympathy for concussion victims?
LW3H
its not wicky… it’s the concussion!
speaking of concussions,i think Colton Orr is concussed, and i really hope he dosent fight Booger tomorrow(cant believe i just said that).
Was watching him(Orr) the other night, and his eyes just dont look sharp(know what i mean?)
reading that wash post article, guess i never had a cuncussion afterall,or maybe mine were minor.
Just thought I’d leave this link here for the McIlrath fans:
http://www.theprospectpark.org/2010/10/new-york-rangers/reving-up-the-truck/
LW
It is “part of it” for lack of a better term. To me it is like being in the army, war sucks, but you are in the army. When I played football in college, I was well known for being a vicious hitter, but I ended up with several concussions. Did I want them, nope, but I understand that is potentially part of the consequences of being a big hitter. Same with hockey, if you put it out there on the line, there is going to be the possibility of bad things happening.
If I didn’t want to go to war, I should not have been in the army. If I didn’t want 12 concussions I should not have played physical sports like football or hockey or whatever.
Still doesn’t mean I can’t feel sympathetic for guys with PCS or PTSD because I have been there as well. Does it??
Maybe Orr smoked a couple of joints with Phaneuf.
CCCP
thanks….I think!
this is fantastic, mrs wicky just got home from class and reads the last post I typed and politely reminds me that I have had 13 documented concussions, not 12. The hits just keep coming!!!
Thats exactly what I meant ORRsy,he looked baked.im gonna guess he wasnt.
Phaneuf gets the Snicklefritz!
:/-~
Melrose thinks Rypien will only get two games.
Lol, wicky…guess she knows how to count.
Morg, I believe that was the reason they didn’t fight last time. They both knew it could’ve been devastating for ORR. Those guys are pros and respect each other.
In terms of concussions- it’s inevitable if you play a contact sport. But stupid ones, because of blindsided, dirty hits, should be eliminated. It’s even more important to know how to deal with them after one sustains it. Too many players rush, or are rushed back too soon and that could be dangerous, if not deadly. Willy Mitchell, btw, will be sorry that he rushed back…
Melrose thinks is an oxymoron.
ILB
yep, she was showing off!!
ok assens, me, the flu, and all the other wonderful things are heading to work!
Later!!
wicky
I wasn’t trying to suggest you shouldn’t have sympathy for concussion victims. And I understand your point – I’m sure a lot of pro players share that view.
But nobody in the NHL or NFL is trying to take hitting out of the game, despite what Milbury-types and their NFL equivalents would have us believe. We heard the same arguments coming out of the lockout and hitting in the NHL has seemingly increased since then.
Seeking to reduce concussions from blindside hitting or those ridiculous helmet-to-helmet missile “tackles” in the NFL is entirely worthy. I just don’t buy the argument that doing so risks ruining the physical element of either sport, nor do I think players should accept those plays as part of the risk of choosing to play.
Congratulations to the 2010 American League Champions Texas Rangers
Americon? Is that in southern Russia?
2010 Americon League Champions Texas
keep your pants on, kid! premature celebrations could lead to concussions!
Congratulations to the 2010 American League Champions Texas Rangers
That’s better. Wrong blog, anyway.
Closest anyone here will come to a Rangers championship
YYYAAAWWWN!
CCCP- don’t strain your TMJs….
TMJ?
Temporal Mandibular Joint Dysfunction?
why are some people so dumb?? i don’t get it… if you want to buy something cheap and have it right away, internet is the last place you should be looking at! People pay $15 plus FREE shipping for a product that cost $45 and expect it to be shipped from USA! DUMB!
sorry… i just had to vent!
Modified Julian Date · Machado-Joseph disease;
Apparently Dredden is “teaching” in Hartford.
I hope he’s not teaching them anything that has to do with their nostrils. Or anything related to hockey.
Hopefully it’s gardening, something like that. But, if these kids fail to grow a flower, or something, then maybe they’ll be to scared to have kids. Or maybe that would actually be a good thing, because then they’ll just have hockey on their minds instead of marriage, and kids, etc.
TMJ – too many joints?
Tortorella (Moron), John
good one, 4everanger! lol
Touch My Jockstrap
wooohooo 5:0 Yankees!
5-1 now…but definitely happy to see we’ve gotten out to an early lead!
Good evening all! ilb, you’re cracking me up today :)
wicky, I love the glue bomb!!! (and no, all that is not a drug reference)
I had a concussion just once, from a car accident (I know, you were thinking football, but I always real careful on the field). Once was enough for me thanks.
6-2 after 6 1/2….
The Yankees will blow it! A-Roid doesn’t have Kate Hudson.
The lead singer of Muse is dating her, and now he will dump his bandmates and go solo winning a few Grammy’s.
Not really! But, it’s funny how people take all these women and make it seem like they’re the reason why a team won or lost. Hudson, Kim KardASSian’s ass, etc. We don’t have any girls to blame or praise. We just have Sather.
As always 101
Blogmama
you had a concussion? that explains a lot! :P
i kid i kid, detka!
that despicable crook Glen Sather . get a load of this from the Edmonton Journal today. Sather made $4 million bucks off of trading Wayne Gretzky. he got 5% of the team which was sold for $80m to trade Gretzky by that crook Pocklington. and now he got the current Oiler owner to put up Pocklington’s bail so he would not have to.
———————————————————————————————————-
Katz, who purchased the Oilers in 2008, put up the bail out of his friendship with Sather, the current president of the New York Rangers, according to Terry McConnell, one of the authors of I’d Trade Him Again.
Court documents had initially listed Sather as the person responsible for putting down the deposit, but he subsequently requested assistance from Katz, who could provide the security more quickly, said McConnell.
“He did it as a favour to Glen Sather,” said McConnell. “Sather called him saying ‘I need some help with this.’ Katz got it done in a day.”
Pocklington has pleaded guilty to one count of perjury in United States District Court in connection to his 2008 bankruptcy claim. He is scheduled for sentencing in a California court next Wednesday.
Katz spokesman Steve Hogle confirmed the facts for The Journal.
“The way it transpired was that Glen Sather asked Daryl to assist and Daryl did so out of respect for his friendship with Glen, but Daryl doesn’t have any relationship with Peter,” said Hogle. “And that pretty well is all we’re saying on it.”
A deed to a $3.6-million property on Ford Parkway in St. Paul, Minn., was provided to the court as a surety in the event Pocklington failed to show up for his trial, but bail was reduced to $200,000 when the risk of Pocklington fleeing was reduced by a plea bargain that included the U.S. attorney’s office’s recommendation that he not face jail time.
Sather told the authors Pocklington has been a good friend for a lot of years.
Pocklington’s biography states that he gave Sather a five-per-cent interest in the Edmonton Oilers to garner his support for the trade of Oilers star Wayne Gretzky to the Los Angeles Kings in August 1988.
“That paid off quite nicely for him when the club was sold 10 years later for $80 million US,” the book quotes Pocklington as saying. Pocklington also donated $300,000 to the University of Alberta to establish the Glen Sather Sports Medicine Centre on the campus.
McConnell says the updated version of the authorized biography he wrote with J’Lyn Nye includes Pocklington’s impressions of his March 11, 2009, arrest and two-day jail experience.
“One thing he did convey to me was remorse — that he didn’t do what he should have done,” said McConnell, a Journal columnist. “He takes responsibility for it. He had signed off on this bankruptcy form without spending the time on it to make sure it was thorough.”
The updated book is expected to hit Edmonton bookstores in about a week.
Pocklington, who moved to California in 2002, declared bankruptcy in August 2008, claiming debts of $19.6 million and assets of about $2,900.
Among the creditors is the Alberta government, which loaned Pocklington’s meat-packing company, Gainer’s, $2 million in 1988. The province says that, with interest, Pocklington owes Alberta taxpayers nearly $13 million.
An indictment alleges Pocklington failed to disclose to the bankruptcy court two bank accounts as well as two storage units he rented to store property near his home in Palm Desert, Calif.
Pocklington, who was born in London, Ont., owned the Oilers during their glory days when they won five Stanley Cup championships.

any way you put it…any way you turn it…Sather is a d
HA! the site just block the d !ck word!
how can that be, it’s a ‘proper’ name ;-). Guess Dick Button will have to be referred to a Richard Button then lol
or maybe not!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HAAAAAA
Does Dick Button know Jenny Poussin?
Dick Button, or Dick Pound?
oh damn! the 2nd guy, his friends must have given him a hard time when report cards came out… ;-)
You guys are cracking me up today. Even more so than usual. I’m not sure if that is a by-product of being incredibly tired and having work sucking the life out of me, or if you’re all funnier than normal, but two thumbs up on the humour. :D
LOL @ Dick Pound
How aboot Eileene Ulich?
lol ORR!! i swear, there are some last names that I’d immediately change if they were mine.
I went to school with a girl named Ima hoar.
Ima Hoar, hahaha! What nationality is she?
Richard Gozinya
Did I mention FIRE SATHER lately?
Let’s Go Black Hawks!!!!
i know a guy named Dick Handler
FIRE SATHER Olga! it’s been a while!
how well do you know him C3?
LMAO, Linda!
i keep my distance…if you know what i mean!
i would hope so!
You shouldn’t make fun of people’s names…. ;)
Hawks up 1-0 after one.
Sather stinks as GM for 10 years.
Why are we so cursed?
They hired a zombie for GM-President.
where is Greg? Havent heard who’s the best team ever in a while…
He’s doubting the team. He just can’t admit it.
nah, it’s because a firetrucking frehleyhead of an asshat OWNS the team
Sather and his cronies should be investigated further.
Hawks fans get to see their players and ex-players in commercials while we have to see a smoking chick with missing limbs, Knicks commercials that try to convince fans that their team will try harder this year, and all the usual MSG crap.
we’re in for a long one boys and girls!
ORR- you’re using the word “chick” very liberally if I remember those commercials right… If I were to pick an animal it would be Hog.
watching hockey games in SD is freaking painful! where are those ‘many’ games in HD that Center Ice keeps on talking about? I havent seen a single one yet!
Hawks-Canucks going to OT. I have every confidence in Chicago.
Woohoo. 3 games in 4 nights. Where the pain of loss can be masked by the hope for the next game.
Been a brutal week with that Avs game searing the brain.
Glad to hear Sauer will be in tomorrow. Hope he replaces both Eminger and Roszival (yes I believe even as a rookie he can be more effective than both combined. Not to say he’s superman or a star…just that the other two have played that poorly…they are not the bees knees).
If the Rangers were being hunted by a pack of lions Roszival and Eminger would be the first to go. Fortunately for them the laws of nature do not rule the Rangers roster…nor does common sense.
Hawks win shootout!
and the Hawks win again! Fire Sather!
They should try Sauer on the PP, just for the hell of it.
Black Hawks win in a Shoootout!!!
11 Points. Tops in the NHL.
Rangers? Tied for last in the League.
FIRE SATHER!!!!
Go Kings!
At this stage I’d even take Lundqvist at the point on the PP over Roszival.
Hank can’t play the puck if his life depended on it. I’d pop him in front of the net. It’s a lot of size, but I’m sure the puck will get through him, since that’s all it has been doing lately.
Mama
glue bomb says hello!!
LW
I see what you are saying, I just think both leagues are being a bit over sensitive on some things and I really do think the hits would be a lot less prevalent if they did away with the instigator/3rd man in rule and the stupid last 5 minute sissy time crap!!
But I do respect your opinion on this!!!!
Of all the hits in the NFL that were called into question, the only one that I agree with that should have been a fine was the meriwether (sp?) hit!!!
night assens!!
Speaking of horrible names parents give their kids, a good friend of mine is named Harold Pitts.
He went by the nickname “Buddy” for obvious reasons.
Harold Pitts. and his sister Olive
