Numbers game

43

Hope to chug on over to training camp for a little while today. If so, will check in with an update of some sort later on.

I need to get a few numbers out there.

First, Congrats Boneheads! Yesterday we hit our seven millionth — that’s 7,000,000! — page view at Rangers Report. I keep telling you guys you rock, so I don’t know what else to say. You are passionate about your team, you are hilarious beyond belief, and you have made this place amazing. It just gets me so pumped up.

Second, the countdown. A lot of you guys have gotten into it, and I have enjoyed it. Now I have to fix a foulup on my part … and that’s par for the course whenever I have to deal with numbers.

I counted the number of days until Opening Night in Buffalo. And though I counted it right, the countdown we’re doing will have us at 1 on the day of the first game, when it should be zero. Unless I post 1 that morning, meaning we have to get through that game day.

Instead, I think I’ll fix it so that Oct. 9 will be zero.

To do that, today we’ll do 20 and 19. OK? Then we should be back on track. Anybody want to volunteer to check that math for me?

20: Jan Erixon. Horace Clarke.

19: Kris King. Dean Talafous. Nick Kypreos. Scott Gomez. Mark “Y.S.” Osborne (we call him that because one night in Hartford a fan by the pressbox spent three hours, non-stop, hollering, “You S… Osborne”).

19: Willis Reed, The Captain. Jean Ratelle.

——————————-

PS, yesterday was my final day of vacation for 2010. I can’t wait until 2011.

  1. 19 – Tony Gwynn
20 – Roberto Dynamite (Brazilian soccer player ’78/’82 world cup)

Carp, did you miss a date on your calendar?
25th September – first date a player can be put on waivers (hopefully in future seasons we will call this “Redden Day”)

  2. #20- Todd “the heartbeat kid” Harvey, Fred “better feet than hands” Sjostrom.

#19-Bryan “the best handwriting job” Trottier, Joe “never made it to NY” Sakic, Joe “jumbo shrimp” Thornton.

Carp, I guess you are also one day closer to your next vacation than you thought, eh?

  3. Good thing you fixed the countdown. If you didn’t, your start of the season would have been one day late and thus, quite lame.

  4. Just saw a high line in the NY Post today, it indicated that Redden has indicated he’s ready to assume a Ranger position.

Does that mean he has been practicing his hide behind the net, stance? Sounds sort of like what you might hear from Inspector Clouseau.

  5. Congrats Carpy! 7 million is awesome! I we all donated a dollar, we could have bribed Redden to retire!!

#20 Jan Erixon, Radek Dvorak, Fredrik Sjostrom and FANKIST
    #19 Nick Kypreos, Dean Talafous,

  6. I think the Wolfpack should resurrect that longstanding Hartford tradition and play “Brass Bonanza” after every goal. With the best outlet pass in hockey there, that song will be playing non-stop! Imagine the excitement!

  7. Did anyone ever think of calling Stevie Y….Steve Two Yzerman?

The sweet little lady got taken in to the vet already. When we got a couple of minutes from the place, she already knew where she was headed and started pacing the back seat and whining.

She’ll be perfectly fine, and Ill know by 12:30/1 how she did and Ill pick up my little drama queen at 4pm!!

Have a great day all! And for good luck, TA!

  8. Hope all goes well CR. And hope you enjoyed your last vacation of 2010 Carp!! Why isn’t it Oct 9th yet?!?! Someone induce a timely coma!

  9. Joekuh - still playing NHL '94... on

    20 – Barry Sanders

you would figure the folkyerself clan would be worth that many at least on their late night shenanigans!

  15. wicky – Soryal has been scraping with just about anyone that gets within earshot of him…not that it really matters, given a certain 4-year contract for $1.6 million per…

speaking of which…have any of the beat writers taken a look at Boogaard? I know he was rumored to have come into camp like 20 pounds lighter. Can the guy skate? If so, what type of ability are we talking in comparison to Shelley-Orr-Brashear?

  16. GK’s Parise and Ochocinco jointly shut out Gaborik/Stepan & co in the first scrimmage of the day. Goals by Kundratek and Prospal: Blue 2 Red 0.

I do not think the carcillo incident should be forgotten in any way, shape, or form. It is exactly how you DO NOT want a teammate to be. A perfect example of how NOT to be a teammate!
