  1. Referring to the other post…Avery is a class act in person and Him and Dubie are the only ones with any character on the team. I’d like to see them both with letters on their jerseys. I hate that Cyborg we have as a captain

  2. >>Avery is a class act in person

His “in person” character shouldn’t concern us. He’s neither family nor friend; we should only care about how he is on the ice.

  3. 27 – “The curse”
Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Cobain, Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, Brian Jones, Richey James

    27 – Gilles Villeneuve

  4. The White Plains Batman on

I just got my opening night tickets on stubhub and paid probably $10 more for a pair but had no choice.

Why? They don’t let me use the net at work and at least this is guaranteed as opposed to relying on friends or hoping my boss in on a bathroom break at 10.

On-sale dates on weekday mornings or soooo stupid and unfair. At least on a Saturday everyone has an equal chance.

27-Rodney Hampton and for probably only one more season; Brandon Jacobs.

  5. Carp,

Is Redden’s demotion a fait accompli or are we really looking at a scenario like Brooks’ suggested a while ago, where the Rangers may have to consider keeping him.

  6. Redden will have to play out of his mind hockey to have a chance at making the team. And if he does that then I think he’d get traded instead of demoted. There’s just too many kids and cheaper vets who can more than fill his roster spot.

    Linda,

Got back to you and already can think of a few positives I left out.

  7. wicky (Our D is SOFT and give Prust an A!!!!) on

I think feds may make the roster and at least one of semenov/exelby (i’d rather see both). Part of me thinks it’s all a ruse to just get certain players to play better and part of me thinks there is a trade coming that is going to clear some of the “depth” at some positions a bit.

there was a tweet from one of the espn hockey guys (can’t remember which one) that said rangers and staal were close!

  8. Ranger site says maximum of 4 tickets – how do I buy 6 tickets together ?
Family really looking forward to seeing a Ranger game at the Garden. Any suggestions ?

  9. I remember really liking semenov from last camp but I have to withold judgement on xlb as I haven’t seen him play in a few years and I saw only a few games. I remember him being very physical, not sure about how solid he is positionally etc I do remember hollweg giving him a KO check into the boards.

But we have possibly the strongest d corps in awhile going into camp. I just hope that coach and gm stick to promise of best players make the team

  10. Tony, I’d either call the box office or maybe look on Stubhub. On Stubhub you’ll pay a bit of a premium, but you might not be limited to a certain number of seats. Even if it is technically an online scalper, it’s a safe and secure way to buy tickets.

  11. From Eklund:
Rangers to acquire Cogliano and perhaps Souray from the Oilers in exchange for Redden, Dubinsky and a defensive prospect.

I know you can’t trust anything from him- But, interesting

  12. Tony: Stubhub has a money back guarantee. It’s very secure. If you ever have tickets rejected that you buy through Stubhub, they will work to get you equivalent or better seats for the game. There is a week delay between receipt of tickets and payment to sellers so that they can be sure that the tickets were received without issue.

  13. Yeah, it ensures that you get your tickets. It can’t control the price of the tickets and it does charge a fee (so in essence if the original ticketholder is trying to recoup the face value + Ticketmaster fees you’ll be paying a premium on that combined amount). Who knows though, if you’re going to a game that isn’t in great demand and people will sell their tickets for less than face + fees.

  14. Leethhalloffame on

Old time Rangers favorite Teddy Irvine wore the 27. Also the number of kids Antonio Cromartie has fathered.

  15. Anyone look for 2 tickets for any games this season, please email me. I’ll be selling a number of games at a savings to the ticketmaster pricing. I’d much rather Ranger fans end up with my tickets than some random from StubHub. My seats are in section 304.

    Let’s go Rangers!

  16. I’m pretty sure eklund used that same rumor about 20 times last season as well. Same names and everything.

  17. Great story on the front page of the Journal News about a memorial concert for Welles Crowther, a true hero who perished on 9/11. He worked at the Trade center and many people told of being rescued or helped by the man in the red bandana. which was Welles’s trademark. What shouldn’t surprise anyone is that he was also a hockey player at Nyack High School and with the Bear Mountain Hockey Club where he played with my son.

If they do trade dubi, I bet feds is a lock! Not saying that is what I want, just a little speculating!

  19. wicky (Our D is SOFT and give Prust an A!!!!) on

luongo gave up the C in vancouver. I’d give it to kesler, but a sedin might get it!

If they make a trade to edm for souray, better give up rozy and bury redden in htf, then we are done with both those softies!

  20. I am looking for a few more people for a Fantasy Hockey keeper league that is getting started.

Each person will get to pick one NHL team and keep every player they want off of it. Then there will be a FA draft and trades, ect can occur. I have been a similar format for baseball for 4 years now and that league is 11 years old. It gets very competitive and requires owners of teams to check in daily.

For anyone who is interested you can sign up on Yahoo. Register your team as just your first name and first letter of your last name (i.e. Joe L.). In a week or so we will start drafting teams.

    Here is the info:

    League ID#: 19964
    League Name: NHL Franchise
    Password: nhl

  21. Chris F. – Not that you asked me, but IMO, the Rangers will assess Redden’s play and make a decision based on his contract. If he shows he still has a 40-point season in him and outplays the other defenders in camp for a top-4 position, he stays. If he plays decent, but doesn’t appear to be anything more than a fifth, sixth or seven defender, he’ll be moved. I will say with the number of defenders in camp seemingly increasing every week and given Redden’s utter lack of interest in hockey over the last three years, I’d say the odds of him returning are growing slimmer every day.

GerryD – Yeah…In terms of tools, Ecklund is the Craftsman-brand of NHL rumor mongers…built to last…anyway…I don’t see how that trade would make any sense for the Rangers. Cogliano is a decent center, but his numbers have declined for two consecutive years. He’ll struggle to be a second-line center on most teams…even the Rangers…And Souray..well…I just don’t have any faith that he’ll do anything other than suck up a million less than Redden already does being worthless…bottom line is that deal would save the Rangers a whopping $1.9 million, which I don’t think is worth them trading a guy like Dubinsky plus a defensive prospect.

  22. Jlone2Bubblehead on

It sure feels like they are getting a whole team makeover. What is the UFA/RFA player acquisition up to now? I cant wait untill opening night to learn who the real Rangers are. Preseason gives me a headache.

  23. Jlone, You’re going to have to wait a month to see “the real Rangers”

Remember the last two season, they looked like Gods, and then turned into drunken angels for the remainder of the year.

Chemistry will be the issue again this year, as always.

  24. wicky (Our D is SOFT and give Prust an A!!!!) on

    bubblehead
    how have you been??

I would like to see the d corps as follows (assuming staal signs) staal, semenov, xlb, mdz, girardi, and mcdonut with gilroy, valentenko, eminger in the mix for 7th.

I think there is some trade going to happen with 2 or 3 guys going and not sure who’s coming (maybe an EC, boyle, gilroy deal or something like that). Guess a bigger deal like the one ecklund was saying but then my d line up would be shot (guessing one of xlb or semenov would not make the roster, if they would at all anyhow)

the forwards i’m not even going to fool with at this point (as long as prust and avery are there) until pre season is about half over!

    off to work, later assens!!

  25. Blue Seat Horror on

    Consistency…in a depressing way.

Rangers prospects are 1-14 on PP at Traverse City. They’ve also hit alot of posts. Sounds like last year’s team.

Not trying to be a naysayer…just noticing trends.

I can’t wait to see what some of these prospects can bring to the Rangers…whenever their time comes – namely Stepan, Bourque, Grachev, McDonagh. What I look forward to most is replacing complacency with hunger.

Even if they are “a bunch of third liners,” as has been pointed out so many times. For starters I’d love to see a TEAM that actually cares about being in a Rangers jersey and on the ice at Madison Square Garden, instead of just collecting a ridiculous paycheck and not being held accountable to earn it.

  26. wicky (Our D is SOFT and give Prust an A!!!!) on

    i’ve laureled

they have never looked “great” to me because of the lack of physicality on the blueline, until they address that with a couple of guys, they will never get deep into the playoffs!

  27. Orr

I totally agree with you re Rangers iut of the opening chute. Watch about 6-10 games before making any hard and fast assessments of who what when and where on the ice.

  28. JBytes- I can confirm that. Friend of mine went to his bar wearing an Islander hat and the host accidentally sat him and his group at a table Avery had reserved for himself and his friends. Avery saw it asked them if they would move and paid or their whole tab.

  29. $1K? Throwing around some heavy cash on sports betting. You bet a Federer/Nadal final or something?

  30. No, I took the over on 33 1/2 total games played in the Rafa/Verdasco match.

Even though Verdasco had a tough 5 set match previous to the Rafa match, I thought Verdasco – a fellow countrymen – could at least push one of the sets to a tiebreaker or perhaps even take 1 set. Had he pushed the first set to a tiebreaker – which he had a shot to do, being up an early break, I would have won.

  31. Orr – You know I love ya, but please dont talk ignorantly. Federer is a great champion and an even greater human being.

CCCP – I know you were joking, but I do plenty of good things for people, including charities.

  32. First set, RAFA! Mother Tim-resa, LOL!

Im pretty sure Mother Theresa didnt have hangups about Boston and umpires/referees or about anything :) She was a truly inspiring woman with a tremendous amount of class and courage.

  33. This is unbelievable. Nadal cant get a first serve in. And he usually dominates the point and pins the other guy around the baseline with his return shots, and he’s doing none of that right now. Get it back, Rafa. Turn it on. Now!

  34. Blueshirt in Paris on

Take it for what it is worth… from Eklund

The Rangers have been the most pro-active team about camp invites so far inviting three quality players to camp: Exelby, Semenov, and Fedotenko… (I am still curious as to why the Flyers did not sign Fedotenko to help out with some auxiliary scoring as well as helping out the Zherdev transition)

Yet the Rangers are very much in the trade rumor mill as well. There are rumors of the Rangers and Flames working on a smaller deal which could help set up one of the more intriguing trade rumors of the summer…

Rangers to acquire Cogliano and perhaps Souray from the Oilers in exchange for Redden, Dubinsky and a defensive prospect.

  35. I agree. No point in bringing in Souray and getting rid of Dubinsky. With enough maturation – Dubinsky could be an annual 30 G 80 P guy. I dont know anything about Cogliano.

  36. Eklund is once again full of poo. He’s 99 percent sure Staal signs today, so we know that means he wont be signing today.

The only trade I want to see involving Dubinsky is with Staal for Bobby Ryan.

  37. Anyone looking for seats in the 100 level I am selling a few games. Section 116 Row F (last row) for face. 100 per.

uk- those were some of teh best musicians ever and it really is sad especially about hendrix, and jones. those 2 were great friends. and eric clapton stopped playing guitar for a year after hendrix death. what all of them couldve done if still alive really just makes it depressing. all that talent. hendrix only put out like 3 albums. shame. and also the last time i was at disney world, i sware there were so many tourists from england and after talkin to alot of them i actually started to say some words with a british accent! not on purpose of course.lol. i love the accent and also some of the different slang terms are great. i gotta ask how did you become a ranger fan? u have probably already discussed this before, but did u live in the states for awhile or in ny?

  39. Wow, Grabby. It’s like you’ve been living here all your life.

Larry Brooks has completely thrown the toys out of the pram over the Devils’ circumvention punishment on Twitter. Babbling on about some sort of vindictive conspiracy.

  40. Devils punished!

“The league announced in a press release Monday that they have fined the Devils $3 million and that the club will forfeit their third-round draft choice in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft as well as a first-round draft choice in one of the next four NHL Entry Drafts.”

  42. Oh well. Lost another 2k because Rafa had to lose a set. I took the under on 38 1/2 games, and he won at 40 games. What a joke. And the Jets are getting cheated like bitches by the referees. At home.
