From the NYR:

2010 Traverse City Prospects Tournament
Carolina Hurricanes def New York Rangers, 1-0

September 12, 2010 – The New York Rangers prospects were defeated by the Carolina Hurricanes prospects by a score of 1-0 in their second game of the 2010 Traverse City Prospects Tournament today in Traverse City, Michigan.

Goaltender Cam Talbot stopped 25 of 26 shots faced, including nine in the third period.  The New York Rangers prospects put 33 shots on net in the losing effort.

“The goaltending was really solid at both ends.  Talbot came up with a number of big saves,” said Gordie Clark, Director, Player Personnel, New York Rangers.  “Down at the other end, we were just taking shot after shot. We had breakaways from (Derek) Stepan and (Christian) Thomas and he stopped those. He also took one in the face. If (Carolina goaltender Mike) Murphy doesn’t throw that game at us, we were carrying most of the play the whole night.”

The New York Rangers prospects next take the ice Tuesday, September 14 against the Minnesota Wild prospects at 3:30pm ET.

    First BTW!!!!!!

was there an informal skate/practice by the rangers today?

  2. I suppose I won’t be able to find too many ‘heads to talk hockey to at the moment, not at 2 am lol. Well, it’s 6pm here in NZ. The problem is, there is nobody to talk hockey to either. They all talk about rugby. I don’t even know the rules. Otherwise, it’s a beautiful place. Small country, big space.

Funny you should mention NZ. I’m just hitting the pillow [in NY] because I spent most of my evening watching The Cult. Great Series!

  4. Hi all,
just back from Disney – kids had a great time, thank the maker for FastPass and those waterparks!!

Didnt see any fellow Ranger fans there but did see a couple of Crosby jerseys and other Wings/Flyers/Pens. I had this sudden urge to Cross-check the Crosby fans with my son’s light-sabre which i managed to ignore, didnt want my 3-yr old to see dad ejected from WDW on his first visit there!!

On a hockey note, was good to see Torts diss Redden and he sounds keen on giving Stepan,McD and Grachev a good look in camp. Not sure why Fedostinko is getting a shot at camp, but i like Exelby, even if its just as a #6/#7 d-man to provide some extra physicality when needed.

  5. I got to meet Gabby and Aves yesterday…two class acts; EF what people and other teams fans say about Aves

  6. Tank The Season on

Avery supposedly is a decent guy in person. I know some people who have met him and had good things to say.

  7. I’m somewhat neutral on Avery as a player (I think he can be effective but just as often acts to detriment of himself and th team). Every team at one time or another has had a player like him that opposing fans love to hate. Avery just happened to come along when the media is able to post his antics on “as it happened” basis.

  8. UKRanger – My gut tells me the tryout is more a favor to Fedotenko than a possible job offer…Let’s face it: The guy couldn’t score on a wing with Malkin and Crosby. Worse yet, he couldn’t play defensive hockey with them either. Given that there are still some very good UFA forwards out there…or at least forwards that had better seasons on worse teams than Fedotenko, my guess is his phone has been all but silent this summer. Hell..Pittsburgh offered Asham a contract over him. I imagine this is Torts giving the guy a shot to show other GMs that he’s not a has-been…sort of in the same vain as the Nedved tryout the other year. Hell…during that tryout, Nedved actually played himself into a spot on the team, and the organization still didn’t given him a contract.

  9. I had the pleasure of meeting Avery on two seperate occasions and the guy couldn’t have been nicer. I understand how his style of play can irritate people but I honestly don’t understand why people crap all over him on a personal level.
Speaking of #27 & THE BEARD, I was lucky enough to be chosen for Blueshirts Off Our Backs in 2008 and am now the proud owner of a game used number 27 Paul Mara jersey.
