I’m not here to make deep analyses about Isles, it would be a funny role for me, but I respectfully disagree with you and try to explain my position. Their D doesn’t look so “dreadful” anymore with addition of very solid trio of Eaton, Jurcina and Wisniewski. They have bunch of young, talented and hungry guys(Moulson-their unsung hero last season with his 30 goals could play only better),knocking in a door NHLready Niederreiter, Nelson and may be Kabanov. Admit them having real leadership in old but 100% now healthy and always committed DougW. as well as young Okposo and Tavares. They even have now what was problem since Simon left – ever loosing, but legit fighter Konopka. Agree, goaltending is their big question, but they have nothing to lose except 26 place in league and could give Rangers harder time this season and ride for the money, so, that is my point and I would warn every ranger(including fans)to not underestimate them. GO Rangers, but watch out.
Rangers wont make the playoffs bla bla bla , we suck at defense bla bla bla , we have no hope bla bla bla ,Out of all 30 teams we have to be the worst bla bla bla .
It takes a real smart cookie to say we wont make it ( the playoffs) Its such a safe prediction that when the Rangers do make it …everyone will have forgotton you picked the Rangers to finish…lets say 10th.
Im making a list and im gonna be checking it twice , if you think the Rangers dont make the playoffs, Just say “NO” and i’ll add you to the list , this list will be revealed at the end of the season so the naysayers can eat crow.
Unless your chicken.
off to set the DVR!
From last thread:
CR, uh, thanks but no thanks :)
4ever, I’m not immune to faults etc. (only Springsteen has none!) and I don’t wear rose (or orange :) colored glasses where he’s concerned, but still, there’s just something about the guy (aside from the obvious, ha ha) that just draws and intrigues me. I think his bad rap is overinflated and his good one under…know what I mean?
Anyway, you scared me with your comments cause I thought he was out or something, and I’ve had a carcillo of a day!
Honestly,I can’t stand Bill Pidto.Something in him is so not-hockey, I can’t explain it rationaly.Where am I wrong?
Doesn’t matter if they make the playoffs. They’re not winning the Cup.
I’d rather have a top 5 pick than watch Dolan smile over what he thinks is a successful season.
I agree, 4Ever. I hated him on ESPN when he would do hockey with Melrose.
I was shocked to see MSG pick him up. The whole MSG crew sucks.
I say yes Greg!!!
Just a thought…how about we let the new season START before we argue over how it’s gonna END!
hey, greg, keep track of this: right now all, who’s gonna win the Cup? Answers accepted and tallied by Greg til 5 p.m. tomorrow. He keeps them, and sends me back-up :), and we’ll post, and the genius(es) wins a prize TBD. Who’s game, unless you’re chicken :)

Very good first posting. you will do well lad, don’t think otherwise. I sense a bit of chagrin that it doesn’t quite manifest itself the way you’d expected…that’s called …life.

I had some good luck, and close calls, but in all I never lost doubt in myself ( came close a few times, but that is where the choosing of a wonderful woman for a wife comes into play.
So wherever your destiny takes you, never give up, and always stay pointed toward your dream. It may require you to make some adjustments along the way, accept some tasks

and never never go against your own personal principals…you’ll be a success. ( I don’t mean wealthy, but that is often the residue of talent and hard work.)
Good luck to you son, where ever you go.
Laurel’
He has a Personality, alright. No doubt about it. It is always intriguing when ppl. are different, with natural or image developed enigma. You always want to think that there is something much better, deeper and more interesting in character.(not sure here). Also, sometimes it is the case of “bad boy”-”good girl” syndrome. (Don’t take last on your account).

Am I one of the few people on here who believe that the Rangers are gearing up for a really good season???
1. I feel all holes from last year have been addressed.
2. We have an over-flow of talent at the forward and defensive positions (which should make for a great camp)
3. We have a good amount of prospects fighting for spots (especially D prospects)
4. We have a few savvy/wild-card signings that could really make or break the lineup.
5. a couple of young players in contract years looking to take the next step
There is alot to be excited about for this 2010-2011 Rangers team
sorry about the double post…quick fingers are no longer my forte.
fran, wow, I meant to comment on that part of Jon’s post earlier, but now I don’t need to. That may be your best comment ever, and I hope he sees it and takes it to heart. I know I’m going to, and I’m only about 5 years older than Jon :)
4ever, ha! last time I was called a good girl I think was 5 (only 21 years ago!)
I hear what you’re saying, but think it’s less simple than that. I could expound, but don’t really feel like doing it here :)
p.s. TR, I miss you and Mrs. TR!!!!
somerset, no, you’ve got me and Greg!!
Bill Pidto sucks because you say his name ‘Bill Peedo’ and it sounds stupid. He also looks like he couldn’t care less about bein there
“and will include appearances by two offseason additions to the Rangers, Martin Biron and Todd White, and two veteran players, Matt Gilroy and Michael Del Zotto.”
I love how it refers to now second year players Gilroy and MDZ as “veterans,” while being named after two of the NHL’s retread players.
let’s hope Pidto is just the emcee/host and Dan does most of the talking. Hey, the whole thing is just a set-up ad for the season anyeway, but so what??? Would you rather nothing? It marks the start to get people pumped and intro new players….golly all, where’s your ZzZz positive attitude?!
ZzZz NYR ZzZz
Who said Rangers won’t make the playoffs? I said they definitely will, considering useful efforts this summer, but in this season it will be probably harder, because we will have besides usual strong suspects, two team on the bottom- Isles and Bolts, which in my opinion, improved significantly during offseason. That’s all.
As for Blogmama’s:...let the new season START before we argue over how it’s gonna END!- You ask impossible things.
Look, there are always specialists and experts for Past, we have plenty right here in blog, but none for future(fortunetellers, tarots, etc.bullcarsillo don’t count)therefore where else our passion could channel in the summer?!Only in dreams for-ZzZz, or nightmares for-ORR, about Ranger’sfuture.
Carcillo, I said Dan again. Linda, if you’re here, shaddup! Think I’ll just stick to Maloney. (what is my problem!)
Doodie, LMAO, I thought the same thing re: veterans!
I don’t see what holes were addressed. They’re still pretty fragile, and Gabby still doesn’t have much help.
Hard to believe in this group.
Rangers win the cup …there I said it!!!
ORR , dolans dollars will come to him if we make the playoffs or not .The guy is rich and I will not purgurate our teams fortunes so sum dum azz millionaire gets paid a few pennies less. Its a mute point to wish he doesn’t get his “playoff cash” cuz Im still watching the games and I do like to cheer on my team in the playoffs.
When the Rangers make the playoffs…(we missed like 10 in a row) Im super happy and excited and could care less if Dolan makes more cash. ORR , you d rather miss the playoffs so our owner ..what? gets less cash? When I watch the Rangers , Sather and Dolan are the last people I think about after the laundry crew and the stick girls.
well said Zz!
rangers 11th in east greg add me to the list
in no particular order none playoffs
devils rangers
pens montreal
flyers atlanta
bruins carolina
sabres all playoffs isles
ottawa toronto
wash florida
tampa
ORR, not to quote from the Mets, but you gotta believe! Hey, I’ve only had one Cup in my lifetime, some of you all have had none (I think only fran here has two??? seriously fran, were you a fan then? tell us about it if so! I know you remember :)
Point is, what’s the point of being a fan without hope, even if you know it’s futile? (see Red Sox not to long ago, sorry CR)
I love this sport, and I adore my team. And I’ll always watch, cheer and support (I’ve never boo’d at MSG, hate that!)
LGR!
Greg – I can usually work around your creative Canuckisms to understand what you’re saying. But “purgurate”?
Actually, what I really meant is that I’d rather have a top 5 draft pick than NYR make the playoffs and lose. Which I’ve said many times before the end of last season.
Dolan is just a side product to all of that.
And yeah, I love watching playoff hockey, but I’d rather have a few potential stars for the future, while Slats, and possibly Dolan are forced out of the picture, which is a must for NYR.
That is a good sacrifice to me. Then before you know it, the big contracts are out of the picture. Then I’ll be a little bit satisfied with this team.
I agree with 4ever and Greg (well, except for maybe the laundry and stick girls crew). There somerset, that’s four of us!
LW, “Canuckisms”..LMAO!
ORR , what are you complaining abooot!!??
WE HAVE :
#1 Top rank , olympic champion goalie in Hank .
#2 High end player in gaborik , best game breaker there is!
#3 We have super speedy , swedens top guy in Zucarello.
#4 We have hard core coaching , Torts . When he is winning ..he is the best.
#5 Grit ,grit and more grit. Callahan, Prust and a meaner Marc Staal will provide some fire . Hank could swing the lumber a few times.
#6 Toughness. two words. Derek BOOGAARD . nuff said.
#7 chemistry. This team has come along way with the coaching staff to the young sophmores.
#8 Dubinsky . He will have a full training camp and will have his best year of his career . LOOK OUT .
#9 the youngest ,fastest ( played with Stamkos and Tavares) defenseman in Delzoto . This kid is the real deal.
#10 do I dare say Grachev ,Mcdough ,Kreider and Stepan?
doodie
I too had to smile a bit when I saw listed as veterans, and the the rof young DelZotto flashed thru my mind, and …just imagine, what a single season under fire will do for a youngster, and could conceivably transform his overall performance and team position in the scheme of things.
....DelSotto…veteran. Has a good ring to it.
ORR, let’s put Dolan and Slats aside (no choice really in reality for now). I’m curious, and I mean this seriously without any sarcasm or insult anything….I really want to know, why are you a Rangers fan?
aww, Greg, mama loves you, and good list, but no #16 :) ?
I hate that summer’s ending but I am psyched for NYR hockey!
Thanks 4everanger!! good post too!! (5:39)
LW3H…umm I sure hope ya didn’t “google” it . I questioned my usage when I used that word . purgurate , as in wont sacrifice..?
Orr , I understand your logic ,it just ..it doesn’t make much sense.
Thats 4 Momma!!!
“Top rank” is a synonym for “elite”, n’est-ce pas, Greg?
LW, oui, mais non….tu comprends?
wu wu wu wa wa wa who?
4everanger – I see those three defensemen and my eyes glaze over…I agree, they’ve got a hell of a stable of young talent. And I don’t by any means think they’ll be an easy team…but my laughing at the Islanders starts with that cadaver DiPietro and carry on with the geriatric Rolson.
My tried in true axiom in hockey -
at any level-is that you’re not going to go very far unless you have a solid goaltender. The Flyers are the one exception to that, and they had a defense that was just stiffing.Mama, I watched hockey a little before becoming a fan of NYR, but for some reason I became a fan of them, probably because my dad was. The first real emotion of felt during a game was an NYR game, so it became pretty evident that this was the team that I was comitting to. I used to say I was a Red Wings fan, but I was really just a big fan of Shanny, and Yzerman, so they don’t count.
I’m a true fan, but a realistic one. I don’t have faith in this group, or the last.
Greg, Gabby will never be the best “game-breaker”. And it seems like the fans have more confidence in MZA than the kid has in himself. And we do have some grit, but that’s a nice group of smurfs. I wont get into the Booger topic again. And don’t ever say that this team has chemisty, because every says that ever fuggin season, and every line is different every month.
phil
I totaly agree with you in this department in my post.
Nice try LW , but I never said “Elite” . Thats saved for goalies who carry thier team on thier back and win .( hem hem Stanley Cup)
The only way Hank is “elite” right now is if he joined the Swedish Elite League.
Count me in, GregL- we are making the playoffs.
This team is better just by a virtue of a young core getting one year older and more experienced. There is also relatively very little turnover comparing to previous years. Frolov could make a difference, so could MZA. Both, nonetheless, are very low risk signings. I’m very hopeful that McDonagh will make the team. The Eastern Conference has improved in general comparing to last year, but not enough to prevent them from getting in. Will not be a walk in the park, but we will be in.
Everyone better hope that the young core can take their game to the next level, because that’s really the only way this team gets better.
4ever, you make me laugh and laugh.
ORR, thanks for the answer, but you still gotta stay positive! Comes with the territory of being a NYR fan..
ilb, smart as always..
OK all, I’ve had a carcillo day and this chat has been great (thanks!) but it’s time for me to say….
TA! catch up tomorrow all…..
“Everyone better hope that the young core can take their game to the next level, because that’s really the only way this team gets better.”
Well said , excellent put . Spot on . Hit the nail on the head .
Ilb , I second your comments.
Greg- Rangers make playoffs?- Heart says yes. Head says no. Wallet says no.
By a split decision, I guess it’s no. Book it. 10th place in East.
Black Hawks repeat as Cup Champs.
So the players couldn’t decide on a new NHLPA leader while the important decision is to be made by tomorrow 5pm? Nice..
http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/devils/exclusive_nhlpa_remains_leaderless_OqN6Fvq53teKmojPaDytFL
Although, I don’t think the decision should very difficult for NHLPA- take it and run.
Tampa Bay doesnt scare me because they did the same thing a couple of years ago.
Loaded up on a bunch of forwards and had no D and No Goalie and everyone was saying how good they would be and they sucked
Gaborik, Frolov, and Prospal leading the scoring
Young Core being one year older
Addition by subtraction with Redden
MZA, Avery, White and Kennedy as Wild-Cards
Lundqvist and Biron Tandem
Boogaard
.... makings of a pretty good team
I don’t think the Bolts are anything like the teams from the last few years. They’re more talented. Goaltending could be an issue, but Ellis is good enough to get the job done if the defense is capable of making life easy for them. If Gagne can stay healthy, he could be dangerous.
And Stamkos is very dangerous! They’re definitely ahead of NYR, in my opinion.
Greg, Ranger’s make the playoffs 6 0r 7 in the east! This appears to be a more talented camp than last season.
on lunch break…I’m in on the playoffs as well. Depending on what we do to address the lack of physicality on the blueline we could finish 3rd to 8th. Either way, in the post season!
Rangers making the playoffs!! But what do I know!!
ok… i need you my smart Rangers fans to help me come up with a name for a fantasy league trophy! put your brains to work!
From 0 to $250K in 9 months…
“Fourth, I want to thank my CK classmates—if you are mentioned above, ditto. To Diana Rini Jones Sheltra, you are a newlywed and still managed to make time to rally the troops! Special thanks to Diana’s brother, Paul, who we now owe allegiance to the NY Rangers because he brought in tons of votes with his ingenious fanboard posts. Very special thanks to our own special angel, Marie O’Kane Lanza, who posted and prayed and inspired us every step of the way. ”

When Sather Rules- Rangers Lose. FIRE SATHER or NO PLAYOFFS.
I put them in ninth place- the worst place to end up, no playoffs and no decent draft pick. The worst of all worlds- Sather’s World.
Chicago Black Hawks win the Cup again…
Olga speaks for the entire family…
Let’s Go Black Hawks! Jessiman wants the Cup!
You know ,the manner in which all the new folks perform
will be dictated in no small manner with the type and the coaching staff that they keep this season. I was very unimpressed with the staff of last season. Team play had deteriorated to a minor league caliber, and some of the most basic but important elemental playing standards and of
fundamentals that all players must master had been completely ignored, with no correction of these things such as passing, positional play in the various zones, etc. and this happened game after game. It got steadily worse as the season progressed, and I often questioned whether the coaches were correcting these flaws, or at least trying to.
Within the first 10-15 games we’ll know the answer.
Call it fran- Rangers make the playoffs or no? What position in the East?
trophy name…
The CarpLaurelJosh Cup of course!
Bravo Blaze!
fran, they have a trend of starting out pretty well…it’s november to february that kills them :-)
Made it to St Louis A-OK. It’s weird to be an hour behind what I’m used to.
wicky- interview’s at the local cable and internet company. if you want more details I can fb tomorrow.
niters all!
Mama, you went crizzazy on the blog today. Like half the posts are yours! And you mentioned the red sox, Not Cool, Not Cool at all.
I suppose Peeina Cup is out….
Can you imagine the winner bragging to their friends?
“I got a Peeina Cup from being on a Rangers Blog”
... “and they all moved away from me on the bench.”
I think if you gotta Peeina Cup – Urine trouble for sure…
If you had a Peeina Cup, you certainly won’t be drinking Champagne from it.
S’all I’m sayin’...
CCCP, how about the BCHL (Byfuglien Carcillo Hockey League)?
Good night, all.
Good night, Sally!
I would go with elegant “Lady Laurel Wreath” instead of too customary, usual, conventional “Cup”. CCCP?
He did what in his cup now?
...
how ‘bout the Boogaard cup?
Fran, I agree with you 100%. When you say “Team play had deteriorated to a minor league caliber, and some of the most basic but important elemental playing standards and of
fundamentals that all players must master had been completely ignored, with no correction of these things such as passing, positional play in the various zones, etc. and this happened game after game. It got steadily worse as the season progressed, and I often questioned whether the coaches were correcting these flaws, or at least trying to. You sais quite eloquently what ran through my head after every poorly executed loss just what is the coaching saying to the players because I am not impressed with Tortorella or his assistant.
Chicago blackhawks finally won a cup!!!! finally …like they did it in a million years…the chances of Chicago chUmPs repeating is slim . I’d laugh if they miss the playoffs!!! Chicago Blackhawks are the most pathetic champions of all time. That team will go down as the biggest bust in NHL history , Bust as in “Busted up” . The Blackhawks are a prime example what NOT to do. Our team over here has more class then that garbage club CHICABLOWS.
Hands down the Rangers are the “class” of the league. Anyone on here cheering for The Blackhawks need to blog out over there and keep that chicago stink outta this place…
The Black Hawks are Stanley Cup Champions. First in the NHL. I don’t want them any better than first. Sure, it took them 49 years- the record is still 54 years…
You can talk all you want greg, but if you want to see what not to do, just keep sniffing around Sather. The Rangers have class- second class as long as Sather is running things. As I’ve repeatedly said I’m not Anti-Ranger, I’m Anti-Sather. But you’re suffering from Cranio-Rectal Inversion. I’ll just wait for that “popping” sound when you finally get your head out of there.
how about the porta potty cup??
or better yet, the paws and claws cup to keep the sister blog alive!!!!!
good night jim bob!
the waltons cup??
What a hectic date I had tonight! I’ll tell all about it tomorrow! And I thought I was crazy!
2011 Stanley Cup Champion New York Rangers
Get used to reading it everyone, because that’s what they’re going to be!
There’s this place that I go
Where nobody knows
Where the rivers flow
And I call it home
And there’s no more lies
And the darkness is light
And nobody cries
There’s only butterflies
That passage is a metaphor for the Stanley Cup – soon to be owned by the NY Rangers!
Does it make me gay that I like Natasha Bedingfield? Ah, who gives a rat’s ass! :)
“And I thought I was crazy!”
Welcome to the Club, CR. Especially with statements like “2011 Stanley Cup Champion New York Rangers”.
They have as much chance of winning the Cup as a sheep does in killing the butcher. Now, FIRE SATHER and you might have a chance. Of course, there’s still Dopey Dolan.
My last post was “awaiting moderation” so I’ll try again.
greg- You want to read about “Ranger Class?” try this…
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_L._Dolan
You have a dope addict running MSG, the Knicks, and Rangers.
or this bit of “Class”…
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glen_Sather
Tomato Face- sounds like a Dick Tracy villain.
Sorry if it is a repeat…
Come on
Stanley don’t you wanna go
Hid-e-hey
Stanley don’t you wanna go
Back to that same old place
Oh sweet home Chicago
Well, one and one is two
Jessiman can’t wait
Come on Stanley don’t ya make me late
Hid-e-hey
Stanley don’t you wanna go
Back to that same old place
Sweet home Chicago
Midas Will go to sleep…
I totally agree with what you have mentioned. In reality, I browsed through your various other articles and I do think that you’re definitely correct. Great job with this website.
