From the Rangers:

Procedure on wrist performed earlier today

New York, June 1, 2010 – New York Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced today that forward Artem Anisimov underwent successful surgery earlier today to remove a small bone chip in his right wrist.  He sustained the injury on May 23 while skating with Russia in the Gold Medal game at the 2010 World Championship in Cologne, Germany.  The procedure was performed by Dr. Martin Posner at the NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases in New York.  Anisimov is expected to make a full recovery in four to six weeks.

SP: thanks for the ESPN help. The most interesting thing was at the end about the Rangers taking a Russian in the 2nd round because they think a player might fall to them. That’s similar to what happened with Cherepanov in 2007, when he fell all the way to 17, despite having been the top ranked European skater.

Sorry but NHL players under contract should not be able to play in outside tournaments.

  3. Got home from the beach!! What a GORGEOUS DAY! Not one cloud in the sky!!

Walked my daddy’s girl Tiki around the neighborhood to show her I still love her the mostest!!

She is too funny!! I dont think I’ve mentioned it on here, but she has bad dreams at night; yips and wakes me up. I yell her name to wake her up from her bad dreams, and she comes on the bed and lays curled up at my feet!!!!!!!

Go Rangers! Go Duke!! Go Yankees!!!

Dam internet shafted me for a few days!!!!!! IM AM BACK!!!!

    GO RANGERS!!!!

  5. Welcome back, GregL! Started to worry. Please tell me you got your T and please tell me it fits.

  6. MZA cap hit is officially 1.75 a year for the next 2 years. 2 way contracts dont count towards the summer cap. his AHL salary will be 68,000 and his salary in nhl is 900,000 + a playing bonus of 850,000 and a 90,000 signing bonus.

So i just found an interesting link for the Rangers draft history if anyone is interested. With a few exceptions(Staal,Callahan,Anisimov,Lundqvist and one or two others) this list is AWFUL, and a testimant to either bad scouting, a bad GM, or a combo of both.

    FIRE SATHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. Good evening all! TR, for me at least, today was the post- out of the office for 5 days, leaving tomorrow again, get out of the hole blues…

    welcome back Greg!

CR, you’ve been a great p.r. man for the sister blog, but allow me to handle this one :)

All, especially my pet-loving friends, very special sister blog post up now. And I kid you not. It involves one of our very own heads!

    get well soon AA….

nice feature on the pets! I’ll have to send you a pic of my kitten Apollo playing with a ball in the yard… i swear he thinks he’s a dog sometimes. He’s freakin adorable though.

  10. Please do Gabby, but wait til next week when I’m back from Maine (details on my absence tomorrow, if you give a carcillo!)

btw, your response to Greg made me LMAO.

  11. Tony, I’d love that, too (awesome pics of you in the boneheads shirt on FB, btw….loved them!)

don’t forget to send a story about the pet with your pics. Geez. I’ve been begging you all for ages to send me stuff for sister blog….was good for a while, a long while ago….(whatever happened to jlone, I wonder?)

reminder: send to use your report handle in subject line, or mention RR or report, so I know it’s you and don’t delete it like all the other carcillo I get :)

    Gotta go now….TA!

oh yeah, GO HAWKS! Seriously, I don’t care how they win, just that they do!

re campbell….great minds think alike. And yes, two crease clearers IMHO. I still think slats has his eye on souray for rozy (not saying I want souray, but over rozy…….no brainer).

  13. wicky (ILB says stay thirsty my friends and wicky always chimes in!!) on

A case of tasty cakes for everyone!!!!

  14. Wicky, wasn’t the talk about Souray for Redden?

How did Federer manage to go down in the quarters today?

  15. wicky (ILB says stay thirsty my friends and wicky always chimes in!!) on

actually, i think it was redden. I get those two confused, they are both bad, just one makes a bit more money and is a bit more physical, which isn’t saying much!!!!

  16. ilb

Soderling, who is an awesome guy and funny dude, played the match of his life.

Even better than his win over an injured Nadal last year at the French.

He dominated Federer all over the court with pure power.

I love Roger and his class, but am not too upset, as Soderling is an awesome guy!

  17. wicky (ILB says stay thirsty my friends and wicky always chimes in!!) on

redden. Not to mention that if redden has had one fight, tht would be more than rozy had in his whole rangers career. Sometimes you just have to drop the gloves whether you want to or not to show the other guys you care!

  18. wicky (ILB says stay thirsty my friends and wicky always chimes in!!) on

that is why if I had to pick one (and I DO NOT WANT EITHER) I would take redden over rozy! Thankfully I am not in that position and I would jettison both in a heartbeat!

  19. Ha! leethhalloffame i presume you missed a C somewhere for starters?

As for the statement about NHL players not being allowed to play “in outside tournaments”, thankfully your views are not shared around the world. Any sportsman should be allowed to compete for his home nation in any tournament as prestigious as a World Championship. The problem with Ice Hockey is the IIHF devalue the importance of it by playing them every year, instead of every 4 years like the Olympics, THE World Cup, Euro Soccer Championships etc… This is why the event becomes a sideshow to the Stanley Cup, if the IIHF had half a brain it would be every 4 years in June/July then the medals would mean something.

  20. Good morning, boneheads!

Ha, no more “muscles” from Voros ?

So we have maximum 5, minimum 2 games to go. After that- dead silence. I think the Flyers will somehow get a win tonight. Unless their elite goalie shows his weaknesses.

  21. I’m sure Voros is just having some fun but hes making himself look like a loser. Almost like look at me my two best friends are Avery and Hank!! My job is safe!!

  22. Hey guys with the draft coming up I wanted to know if anyone thinks there is a player worth trading Dubinsky and our 1st for a certain player in the draft? Besides the top 2 does anyone think there is a player worth that trade? Just trying to stir some thoughts about the draft.

  23. I like reading about the draft but as most of our prospects go through 2-3 years of conditioning at junior or AHL level its hard to get excited about any one particular choice. If we’d been in line for a top 3 or 4 pick you can possibly get an NHL ready prospect its a different outlook, but picking at 10 we just need to find a good C/LW prospect and then take Brock Beukeboom with our 2nd rounder (#40). I’ll sleep easier knowing there will be another Beukeboom on the Rangers blueline sometime in the near future.

  24. thanks for the link Kevin, was waiting for something to happen from that. He did go a bit out of control with the photos, hell, your own teammates deserve to relax and have some private time over a holiday weekend. He’s been banished from the ‘cool club’ for a few weeks. ;-)

  25. Good morning all! Hey CCCP, you know anything about that Torts FB page???

tr, thanks for that awesome link! will have to linger there when I have time.

I’ll be missing the game tonight and out of touch through Monday in no-Maine’s land :( I’d hate for the Flyers to get even one, but kind of wouldn’t mind if I can see the final. Oh well.

and what the heck happened to Federer??

  26. Morning ‘heads!

If Voros deleting his twitter is the most exciting Rangers news of the day, then we know we are truly in the dog days of summer. And it’s ONLY June 2nd. *le sigh*

  27. Voros is/was definately one of the more interesting tweeters, lots of pics of Aves, “Lambo” Lundqvist and a few others. I didn’t see any Lohan update from him though.
I think if i’m a GM or manager i would have some sort of rule about players not doing it or fining them if they include any team information.

  28. MickeyM – as usual we are whiling away the hours till the draft, then there will be another no-mans-land until July 1st, followed by another larger one until start of training camp.

Anything is news, even the colour of Hanks socks or the type of wax he uses to polish his car(s).
(Incidentally my 3 year old helps me wash my Scirocco, but my friends dont post pictures of me on twitter doing it)

    Good article on Roszi today:

I would say he is our most tradeable player or the albatross crew, the sad thing is Slats would probably trade him for Souray or Kaberle instead of alleviating our cap issues.

  29. Sather alleviate cap issues! I’d wonder if i was suffering from heat stroke if that happened ;-)
