Oh, sweet Caroline
Good times never seem so good…
Damn, was hoping for an original six matchup. Oh well, go Hawks!
Oh dear lord, I hope this series goes past game 4 – no one wants to see Versus showing the Cup ceremony – they’d probably cut away to the coach when they give the Cup to the captain.
What if Messier didn’t lift an entire city?
History will be made.
This is gonna be a tough series; to anyone who thinks the Hawks will wreck them; Pronger is gonna be on big Byfug all series long.
Lots of good matchups.
LETS GO HAWKS. Just for the sake of everything that is holy in the hockey world.
Anyone wanna play NHL hit me up on PS3,

Carp
here is the thing from blueshirt bulletin (sorry it took a while to reply). You are on page three with the High Five/top five rookie moments. It reads as follows:
4. Dos Nueve-taking a page form lohud’s RICK CARPINIELLO the young netminder Chad Johnson had difficult shoes to fill upon being called up in relief of ousted veteran steve valiquette. He made the most of his opportunity, in five appearances recording a record of 1-2-2 and a GAA of 2.35.
On that note Carp, I may have asked you this before, but do you remember the Klein’s Korner they used to put on the inside of the first couple of pages, the one that was about seinfeld?? I still remember it, and would love to find a copy! Any ideas???
If Messier didn’t lift an entire city, nobody would be talking about Chicago having the longest cup drought today. Did I get it right?
dont wanna get political or whatever you call BUT… this is just wrong!

Let’s go Hawks and bring on draft day!
Go Hawks!
i got into a physical altercation with a friend, more like an acquaintance, whose an eagles, phillies, flyers, etc. fan tonight. i’d like to say i beat the carcillo out of him but my head hurts too. go hawks, byfuglin Philly.
Go get your shine box mention on The Daily Show! :)
“Greg ,You’re saying that this coulda been Rangers instead of Flys?”
Duhh YEAH , what else do ya think? You dont believe this could have been us…? You going to a Rally on hopes of a Sather firing…? Thats really dilutional. The Rangers could have won the cup and if you think the Flyer are head over heals better then ya really dont know our team at all.
I know we had a chance , I saw how things went down.
Id put the Rangers in a seven game series with the Flyers any day and I know Gaborik would show up!! Hank too!! We wouldnt punk out like Montreal did or the Devils. We got carshattedtioed.
If only the Flyers had an ELITE GOALIE, just think of were they could be know.
It does dispel the myth that you do need an elite goalie to win the cup..
Let’s Hope the Hawks Kill the Fly Girls !

or 6
onecup,
the game has changed from its pre lockout days. before the lockout it was all about goalies and systems. now its all about skill. you need great young offensive players, and a good, doesn’t have to be great, goaltending. the Rangers have one great offensive player, they need a couple more.
Flyers have very good offensive talent, Giroux has really becoming a superstar. Richards, Carter, Gagne, Briere. How about some secondary scoring from Asham and Co. And they are big. At the end of the day Montreal got run over by big Flyers, they looked tired and disoriented. Pronger has been a monster on D. 30 min a game? It won’t be an easy one, but I’ll go with Chicago in 6.
And in terms of elite goaltenders- we do have one. And it hurt us this year. If we didn’t, we would’ve likely won the lottery.
Good morning, boneheads!
The F’ers in the finals just kills me considering how close the Rangers got. Dang skills competition!!! That said, when I looked at the F’ers pre-season I thought they were one decent goalie away from the cup finals. Who knew they’d be carried by a washed up backup and a career minor leaguer. I see Hawks in five. They just have too much firepower for the F’ers to stop. Even their level 2 guys are playing amazingly well.
Our day in the sun is draft day. If SJ offered us Thornton for Staal, Dubinsky, a prospect, and the 10th overall pick, would anyone do it?
Tank- no. Keep your young players, build. No need for another superstar in decline.
I’d have to think that playing two 7 game series sapped the Habs a bit. But looking at that game last night the lack of size for Montreal worked against them. They had no answer to being able to establish themselves in the Flyers end. They could skate the puck in (mostly Gomez) but not set up and cycle.
Leighton played very well when needed. He might not be an elite goalie in terms of reputation, but he’s putting up elite numbers. 2 goals allowed in their 4 wins, whether he reverts to a borderline NHL player next season remains to be seen, but just because he’s never been in anyone’s discussion for the Vezina, doesn’t mean he hasn’t made a major contribution to the Flyers run.
Hawks are a completely different animal than anyone the Flyers have seen. Byfuglien can and should cause havoc for the Philly D and potentially negate the physical presence of Pronger and the high end talent the Hawks have up front is leaps and bounds better than Montreal, Boston or NJ. Although Philly does have its fair share of competent forwards that play a harder style than the Sharks or Canucks played against Chicago the past couple of rounds. I actually think the series against Nashville was a good experience for the Hawks as they faced a tough, grind it out team and had to battle a bit to win that series.
Hawks in 5.
Tank, if they’re going to offer a big package for anyone on SJ I’d rather it be Little Joe, not Jumbo Joe.
Philly is gonna put up a good fight but it just aint gonna happen
Plus dumb arse Richards touched the Prince’s Cup. Yeah he just screwed the pooch right there.
Pronger will get caught flat footed as he always tends to do, the smaller FLyer forwards wont be able to dipsy doodle through the neutral zone, and the 4th line on Philly is WAY WAY WAY Less talented than the 4th line of Chicago
Plus the Montreal series NO ONE was screening or standing in fron tof LEighton, and that is The Blackhawks game
So expect Leighton to show his humanity this series
Blackhawks in 5
Nothings gonna be better than seeing philly get all the way to the finals and then fall apart.

I don’t know if that’s entirely true. If you want to use 1994/95 as the baseline for the heavy implementation of the trap, perfected of course by the Devils, and end it with the the last year before the lockout.
Highly talented Wings teams won 3 Cups, skilled Avs teams won 2, I’d call the Stars a hybrid of talent and defensive responsibility given that they had players like Modano/Nieuwendyk/Hull but were coached by Hitchcock and of course the Safe is Death Lightning. Granted, the Devils won 3 Cups in that span, but the majority of the winners in that decade or so, won with some pretty talented teams.
Plus dumb arse Richards touched the Prince’s Cup. Yeah he just screwed the pooch right there.
*Crosby touched it last year and they won. ESPN did an article about that, and it actually shows that there’s basically no difference in adhering to tradition or not.
Pronger will get caught flat footed as he always tends to do,
*In the Olympics yes, he looked like a step behind. But as good as the Hawks team is, the elite national teams in the Olympics are still better competition. He’s been a monster in these playoffs, but he can’t be on the ice all the time vs Toews, Kane, Hossa, et al. At home it behooves the Hawks to take advantage of the last change.
the smaller FLyer forwards wont be able to dipsy doodle through the neutral zone,
*Richards, Carter, Hartnell, JVR and Asham aren’t exactly small and of course Carcillo “plays big”. Briere, Gagne, Giroux may have issues but then it might come down to matchups.
and the 4th line on Philly is WAY WAY WAY Less talented than the 4th line of Chicago
*Agree with this, the question is how much ice team will the 4th lines see?
Plus the Montreal series NO ONE was screening or standing in front of Leighton, and that is The Blackhawks game
So expect Leighton to show his humanity this series
*Most likely the Hawks will find ways to open the Flyers D, but I think it’s a testament to the Flyers being able to shove around the Habs forwards at will that Leighton had an easy time seeing the puck.
LI, didn’t mean to leave you hanging yesterday, but I went home and it was so nice out I wasn’t online the rest of the day. But, to clarify I was 3/4 kidding about that. :)
As good as the Flyers looked againt the Habs, the Hawks will steam-roll them. Toews and company are flying now(pun intended) and are much bigger and tougher than Montreal. I’m predicting Hawks in 5. I think Philly steals one in their own building.
Oh, and good morning!
Good morning all! Much as I’d like to see the Hawks sweep, I kinda hope they don’t or I’ll miss the end of the series! Byfuglien. I’ll be in Maine that weekend without access. I’m suck that they’re in it.
Sid, what the Harnell :)
Is this your homework Larry? Larry, is this your homework?
And a GOOD DAY TO YOU SIR.
I KNEW that CT would be the first in with a comment on that one, ha. That is a movie that you either LOVE or HATE. I LOVE it. Watched it last night and laughed just as hard as I did the first time I saw it.
Hi Mickey – yeah, understand – others brought that to my attention as well. No harm, no foul. :o)
I’m too serious sometimes, particularly about situations involving “intent to injure”, having been the recipient of such activity in the past…
Hawks in 5
Nasty doesn’t care about anything, he’s a nihilist.

CT,
Colorado was the exception. the Wings were all about the Left Wing Lock. and Dallas and the Devs were teams will big goalies, and played the trap. I am not saying those teams were not talented, they were, I am saying they were built around there system and there goalie.
Nasty, I think the mods will take care of it.
That rug really pulled the room together.
Sent an e-mail to Mama, hopefully the troll will be expunged
