mcdonagh hasn’t signed with anyone yet, so he can’t resign with the rangers. but i wouldn’t really put too much stock in brooks’ article about mcdonagh. the kid likely wants to play his senior season at wisconsin and then he can sign with us afterwards. he doesn’t become a free agent until august of 2011, so the mere fact that he isn’t rushing to leave college right now has little bearing on whether he will eventually sign with the rangers. if i were him i would finish college for sure then hope to make the big team afterwards.
brooks needs to put out an article every sunday and the rangers don’t talk to the press hence stories like this. i really doubt brooks or any beat writer has an inside source in wisconsin that could give them such a scoop or that mcdonagh would have decided already that he never wanted to be a ranger…seems very unlikely

yep, it is my second season in gm mode. I finished with 89 points last season, 8th seed and made it into the 2nd round and lost (hank gives up terrible goals). this season i am rocking though…...my top six d men are the hammer, kronwall, mdz, staal, tollefsen, and jack johnson with jurcina as my 7th….love it. the hammer won the norris with me last year!

Ever since I developed my wrist shot, and aim, it’s been too easy. I score 5+ goals a game, and have a ridiculous unrealistic record at the end of the year, and always win the Cup.

Found my way year awhile ago, and I love reading Carp’s stuff as well as some of the regulars here.
I wanted to ask everyone’s opinion of Patrick Marleau? ESPN says the Kings plan on going after him in the off season. I know the cap is an issue for us, but does anyone think this guy is a worth while investment? Or is his resume being helped by this years playoffs.

Marleau’s an interesting free agent. I don’t think he’ll be worth the 4-5 year 7mil per year contract that he’ll get. He’s pretty much played a year with Dany Heatley and Joe Thornton (best passer in the game). Without Heatley making space for him (drawing defenders) and Thornton making ridiculous passes, he’s probably a 60 point guy. His team is now in the Conference finals, but they never did that when he was their captain. He’s a hard working player, but IMO not worth the franchise contract that’s probably on its way.

Cynar, welcome aboard! Marleau isn’t an ideal center, in my opinion, he needs to be set up, not a set up man for Gaborik. But he’s got speed and size. So he can work. Having said that, I wouldn’t engage into any biiding war over him. Remember, his numbers also reflect that he is playing with Thornton.
