Wade Redden:

“You look at the whole year and how things were and you’ve just got to realize that as a team we can’t expect to win our last 10 games to make it in. It’s a whole season of being consistent and playing the right way and playing as a team and that’s what it takes to be successful and to win.”

“Obviously, you don’t make the playoffs, they’re going to do something. As far as myself, I’m pretty cut and dry. I’ve got to come back and be ready. It’s a big year for myself. That’s what I’ve got to focus on and see where things go as we get to camp.”

“Personally (I have to) come back here and show them what I’m all about, and I think everybody’s ¬†got to do the same thing. You look at next year and you want to come and be ready for that.”

“I think, talking with the coach and stuff like that, it’s a lot on me this summer to come to camp and show them exactly what I’m all about and obviously, again, I’m not real happy with the way things went. But the only way we can look is forward so that’s where my focus is, to be here and … obviously they signed me for a reason and I want to fulfill that and be the player that I know I can be and be part of this team, a successful team.”

Marian Gaborik:

“It’s disappointing. It’s kind of weird to be out and not be playing right now.”

On his health:

“I am here and I’m signed and definitely a little different than last year, where I didn’t know where I was going to end up.

“It’s been a year since I played this amount of games, so definitely it’s good from that point of view. I want to be better, work on different areas of my game, and be even better next year.”

Olli Jokinen:

“I have two and a half months to figure it out, they have two and a half months to figure out what they want to do. Obviously, disappointed the way I played. The whole year was kind of a roller coaster. I’m going to take a few months off and worry about things when there’s a time. Now it’s a time to focus on family and spend time with them and get the mind off hockey.”

“It’s the first time in eight years, I think, I scored under 20 goals. The last couple of years, hasn’t been the hockey I want to play. There was part of the year in Calgary where I played at the level I’m capable of playing. Partly last year there were some good games. This year, it wasn’t there. I wasn’t good enough. So I’ve got five months to get ready for next season and I definitely want to come back. Getting 50 points and under 20 goals and the team not making the playoffs, that’s not going to cut it, you know, my standards. For some players that’s a good year, could be career years for some guys. But I have high standards of myself. I’ve been a 90-point scorer in this league; a few years ago I’ve been a 30-goal scorer in this league. So next year, whatever the case is going to be, that’s what I want to be again.”

Erik Christensen:

On Tortorella:

“What’s different from other intense coaches that I’ve had is he’ll be all over you one minute, and then John can come back down the bench five minutes later and say, ‘Forget about it, I’m putting you back out there.’ It shows that he still has confidence in you, and I think that’s what might be a little misunderstood with him. He communicated well with me. He might be ripping on you one minute, then kind of give you a little pick-me-up right after that because he reacts to everything. I enjoyed playing for him.”

On the earlier comment that this is his last chance in the NHL:

“I know, that comment, everyone keeps on bringing that up (laughs). I think I might feel a little bit differently now. At the time I felt like there was not a place for me and maybe Europe might be an option for me. I wanted the game to be fun for me again, which it really wasn’t; I was not enjoying myself at all. Then coming here, it was kind of up and down at the start, but once I got going a bit, working with Slats on a few things personally, I just started to feel better and started to have some belief in myself, and I think at times during the year I proved that I could play with some pretty good players. It’s just about keeping myself level-headed and keeping my head in the right place.”

“I have no idea what’s going to happen. That’s why we have agents. I’m not going to be hounding my agent all summer, saying ‘Where am I going, where am I going?’ I would love to come back. I really enjoyed playing and wearing the jersey and playing at the Garden. It was a blast. But you never know.”

P.A. Parenteau:

“This is the place I want to play.”

“They say it’s not how you start, it’s how you finish.”

Always been a cocky l’il bastard. RT @AGrossRecord P.A. Parenteau says he’s “turned the page” on AHL, has proven he can play in NHL”

A bit shocked to hear Torts say that PA was 3rd most talented player @ end of the year. Can the talent translate into results??

anyone watching construction intervention? they had a messier jersey with the date of the retirement hanging up!!

  6. LOL @ Parenteau the guy is a borderline NHL player. Sure he is great in shootouts but he was pretty much benched during the last game in philly. I hope he is not back next year.
