The streak seems like a side note of minimal importance, because at this stage you put your points in the bank and move on, and don’t look back.
But the Rangers could stretch their (regulation) unbeaten streak to seven games and finish off a six-game road trip without a loss … if they can win in Buffalo. Though the Sabres are banged u, they are a far better team than the last four the Rangers have faced. This is a critical game for the Swords, too, as they try to wrap up the division and a top-three seed.
So it won’t be a mail-in by the home team.
Speaking of home teams … do you think the Rangers would be better off playing the Final Four on the road, instead of those two home games vs. the Leaves and Flys tomorrow and Friday? They sure look comfortable on the road.
Ryan Callahan will go in warmups and then decide if he will play, but all signs are pointing to his return. That probably means Weise is prucha’d, along with Lisin and Gilroy. Avery and Boyle remain out, though Boyle is getting close to being ready.
Again, other relevant games tonight: Flys-Leaves; Habs-Isles; Devils-Trashers (Kovalchuk’s return to Atlanta).
