Why do all the trade Lundqvist advocates keep referring to this 3-year window to be successful before he is done? He’s 28 and plenty of goalies are now playing well into their 30s.
And I still don’t see how trading him results in anything other than the 3-year window becoming some indeterminate (likely much longer) period until the Rangers manage to draft/sign/steal a goalie of a similar stature.

I just don’t get these folks who keep saying that the way to go is to get rid of LQ.
They keep forgetting that no matter how good your team is, you will always be suspect and vulnerable,without a top flight goaltender. Hawks were a perfect example. Bruins too.
You find a good goaltender and you have always got a chance. Look at Philly. Once they lost their great goaltenders they came back to earth fast…and pretty much stayed there.

The logical thing is to keep the “elite” goalie. Thats a no-brainer , duh.
If we keep him ,then we’ll never be able to afford proper defensemen. Hank should have went for 5 million .Drury and Gomez were also greedy and took the top end amount , not realizing that you take the lower pay and your team can afford quality teamates to play with you. Hank was too busy wanting a contract a few years ago and hasnt delivered on it. Tonight he got a shut out when we didnt even need him.
You throw Crosby or Ov out there against us and Hank will tank..again like usual. Every goalie gets rattled by an OV or Malkin and hank is no different. So why pay a 5th round draft pick 7 million ? Makes no sense to keep him. I wanted us to make the playoffs so OUR elite goalie could carry us to the cup. You guys laugh at me for thinking we can win the cup if we get in,,,Hank can win it all for us, so I think .Why does everyone say well only last the 2nd round? Why have Hank if he can not deliver. Alot of People around here do not believe and all im saying is at this particular time in the Rangers “rebuild” Hank is not needed. Playing like we did tonight is what we need. Not an Elite goalie standing on his head . That wont do anything for us at this stage.
You need to understand that if this team battled every single night and gave effort but still lost games like 3-2, 4-3, 2-1 I dont think we could be complaining at all. its the LACK of effort, the lack of giving a s—t is what drives us all crazy. With the 3 big contracts being the spring board of it all. LQ gives this team a chance every single night to win. He ALWAYS gives 100% and I think I can count on 1 hand the really bad games he’s had in 5 seasons.

guys just got back from the theatre at MSG, all i can say is wow, the game looked stunning in 3D, its like youre at the game, and they are still trying to work out some minor kinks but just wow, messier graves and richter stopped by but they all took a backseat to the 3D goodness, its definitely the future of the game as it captures the speed, finese and brutality like nothing ive ever seen before short of being at the game, the fight between prust and whoever that was was siiiiickk!!!! whoever couldve gone and didnt you really missed out
