  1. Linda- Russian keyboard?
We got it though, annoymous is a combination of annoying and Gluteus Maximus?

  2. AdamZ- great news. They can now afford to buy Redden out lol. I’m surprised that many subscribed. Must be all Dolan’s close family members.

  3. Repost since I was Carped!

How can this not be the best blog ever? We freaking have Glen Sathers home address.

  4. Doodie Machetto on

Great point on the mental exhaustion of Gaborik.

I don’t think sitting him would help that though if they got shutout while he sat (the likely result).

  5. Carp, I checked it out. All of the proceeds. Not too many items yet, but there is Jagr NYR signed Jersey. Perhaps I should go for Crosby instead and bring it for Boneheads May gathering. Nah…

  6. Sorry, folks, the link wouldn’t post. Go to NHLPA, it’s on the front page, it’ll redirect you to Ebay.

  7. I’ve been to Cafe Luca once, wasn’t really too impressed. Too many great brunch places on the UES to go there again.

  8. Best Auction Item: One round, 3 mins worth of boxing with Glen Sather….I would pay at least $500 for that.

  9. Doodie Machetto on

dude, for one round with Sather I would get a group of investors to sponsor a local heavyweight (Vinny Maddalone, perhaps?) to get in the ring with him.

  10. Linda says cut the head off the snake and then FIRE SATHER on

Doodie, what difference would it make, they get shut out with him IN the lineup. A mental rest would be a good thing for him. He almost has that “WHY THE HELL DID I SIGN HERE” look on his face.

Much excellence on the NHLPA doing this. Wish I had enough money to bid on stuff, but a donation is always affordable!

  11. Linda says cut the head off the snake and then FIRE SATHER on

holy carp, Jimmy COMA Dolan ate fudgie the whale! This man has no neck!

I feel sorry for the employees over at Newsday. They should have seen it coming with the way this guy has destroyed everything he’s owned in the past 10 years.

  12. Toe-Wicky-Frenchchops (gabby, just get 26 more!!) on

what in holy hell did i miss…fuzzy balls?! This site is just too much!

regarding nhl10, why is lundquist such a sieve in that game? He gives up more softies tahn in real life!!

  13. Hooray 4 the Chiefs! on

Is it indicative of this season that the only foil I’ve been putting on is on my head? Just wondering…

  14. Linda says cut the head off the snake and then FIRE SATHER on

Chris, it may be due to the fact that Brastrap gets 1.4 million and scooby is making 2.25 million this year.

  15. Stub hub is ligit

Never tried Craig’s List…that’s more personal so I would think it’s less legit than Stubhub

  16. “After Three Months, Only 35 Subscriptions for Newsday’s Web Site”

Newsday, The New York Times, etc will THANK THEIR LUCKY STARS and should be ON THEIR KNEES when Apple’s Tablet is announced tomorrow. It will save them.

Given a cool, sleek device, people will then begin to subscribe to the sites for $5 or whatever a month for the “extra” content. Because it will be delivered to them in a seamless and interactive manner that will set it apart from the web version.

In addition, college kids will begin buying e-textbooks for $20 instead of shelling out $50+ for hard copies.

There is no question that Apple will once again change the world tomorrow. And save the publishing industry.

  17. Calgary just brought up Backland. I wonder if a trade is on the way? There is alot of speculation on HF boards that we be getting jokinen. Not that I’m for that but this smells like a sather move.

  18. What are the Rangers going to give up for Jokinnen? Unless Calgary is content with getting maybe Bobby Sangs (I don’t trade him) and one of the high priced idiots, no way this trade goes down.

  19. ahl stats don’t always translate into nhl success. jason krog tore up the ahl for a few years yet he was miserable here. i see no harm in locke oming up, but who does sather let him replace? if it’s drury/higgins then go for it, but not very likely that happens

  20. the rangers cant send “salary” back to the flames. they are trying to unload salary and land kovy.

if a trade w/ calgary is happening another team will have to be involved in order for us to get rid of our salary.

  21. Linda says cut the head off the snake and then FIRE SATHER on

lmfao jpg! gotta show that to the man later… you trippin!

I elect CCCP to be Captain of the blog! (Seriously)

was that random and jibberish enough??

  23. Miami, I hear apple is going with verizon, which will soon be going global with their network…oh, if I had the money to buy both stocks….I’ll finally get an iPhone!

sorry, back to topic..pete, I agree….TR, I always trust you…looking forward to the 6th, not tomorrow!

  24. stay far away from at&t
    service is great
they put too much bloatware on the phones

compare the touch pro 2 (verizon) to tilt 2 (at&t)
touch pro 2 users will tell you they love the phone
tilt2 users will say the phone is slow

  25. NYR, my tech savvy friend says Driod (verizon iPhone version) folks will be pissed, cause he says Droid sucks and soon the verizon/iPhone will be coming out….maybe June….all total speculation, but I’d wait….I have this long, and think it will be worth it….then again, I’m sure I’ll be told I’m wrong…..non jibberish

  26. I’ve had iPhone since it came out. My wife is using my first iPhone. I have 3Gs now. Switched from Verizon to AT&T because of that, it’s been more than 2 years. No problems at all. 3G works everywhere, or almost everywhere I go, including Catskills. I seriously doubt anyone will really come close to that toy. But I’ll tell you what, if 4G comes on Verizon only, I’m switching back. Both services are very comparable.

  27. Linda says cut the head off the snake and then FIRE SATHER on

    thanks to Nora…

everyone check out the FIRE SATHER RALLY facebook page!!

Rally set for March 7 from 5-6 pm!!!!!!

  28. MARCH 7??? I’ll be skiing with wicky in Montana. Which reminds me: wicky, am I going to be lucky enough to meet two little wicksters?

  29. well, if you can drive on it…higher stock for apple!

Linda, I’ll check it out…later (you know why:)…is it really awesome and happening? may have to book the day off.

    tomorrow all…..TA!

  30. Cormier can appeal all he wants, there is no way the league will give in on this one. You would be hard pressed to find anyone in any league, with the exception of Cormier and his team, that thinks the suspension is to severe.

  31. Toe-Wicky-Frenchchops (gabby, just get 26 more!!) on

so verizon is seriously getting the iphone? Everything else we have is mac so that would be great!!

  32. Linda says cut the head off the snake and then FIRE SATHER on

I agree with you MON. He has the right to appeal, but he certainly is not winning over any hearts or minds. PUNK

Laurel, have a safe flight and a great weekend sista! Will miss you!

aaaaaaaaaw ilb, are you and wicky having a man date? too cute, take lots of pics!!

anyone subjecting themselves to the NHL ON VEEEERRRRRRRRRSUS telecast of the Yotes Wings game?

  34. Toe-Wicky-Frenchchops (gabby, just get 26 more!!) on

yes you will and that iphone may find its first non service area here!

we can send salary to htfd (rozy/redden) so a 3rd team isn’t a must. But, that being said if we send a d man to htfd, i can not imagine one not coming back in the deal (we obviously do not have any faith as an organization that anyone in the minors is ready for continuous duty on the rangers blueline or they would have been up long ago!!)

  35. Wicky, I was there a year ago, it worked fine.
Watching VS. The Wings got speed. VS plays the intermission music while the play us going…

  36. Toe-Wicky-Frenchchops (gabby, just get 26 more!!) on

why should we all get a brown couch?

    ok, good!

wicky noticed the couch, Orr probably noticed the blonde, and I’m the only one who noticed the unofficial Rangers snuggie!

  38. Toe-Wicky-Frenchchops (gabby, just get 26 more!!) on

well, i already have a blonde… the couch was the next option! (don’t tell mrs wicky about the blonde…JK)

  39. Toe-Wicky-Frenchchops (gabby, just get 26 more!!) on

guess it’s not that funny if I have to explain it!

lmao, nah nah!!! i laughed and then the picture of her flashed in my minds eye! you’re too much

fire sather rally, check its facebook page!

  42. Give it up Leetch. With visiting teams getting bus loads of their fans into MSG, and everybody else acting so happy just to see the Rangers, no chants, no actions, no how. I was so steaming after the Flyers game, I knew Girardi had to be booed, loudly in the next home game. Did it happen? Was there a lous Fire Sather chant last game? The fans at MSG are turning into bigger pussies that the blueshirts.

there are 63 confirmed, 3 of ’em BONEHEADS!!!

  44. Can I vent? Watching Phoenix-Detroit on Versus (ugh). Detroit up 4-2 late on two Lidstrom goals. He’s awesome. we get it. So the Yotes cut it to 4-3 really late. Now Lidstrom tries to shoot one the length of the ice for the hat trick. Goes wide, called for icing. The analyst, Brickley, said he had no other choice, which is a total joke. So Phoenix gets an offensive faceoff after a timeout, and Lidstrom allows Jovanovski to get position on him in front and tie the game with 21 seconds left, and the Yotes go on to win in OT.
Nobody, nobody, NOBODY! takes Lidstrom to task for those two plays, not during the game, not back in the studio (where there is some corpse who looks like the ex-Flyers coach). WTF!?

they spin it whatever way they want, even though our eyes tell us differently. I bet if that was Redden or Rozsival that did it, they’d be salivating for the next Rangers game to rip them!

  46. I saw it, Carp. I tend not to listen what they say after the game. Lidstrom was clearly going for a trick. He had a choice and time to just clear it slowly. VS- BUSH LEAGUE! Miami? Doan, btw, is a real captain.

  47. Toe-Wicky-Frenchchops (gabby, just get 26 more!!) on

the wicksters are both brunettes at this point…with blue eyes of course!

22, i’m not ignoring you, i am trying to figure out how to do that without my name coming up!

  49. Toe-Wicky-Frenchchops (gabby, just get 26 more!!) on

doan is a very very good captain and would look fabulous on broadway!!!

  50. Its pretty funny how some 30+ year olds on this blog take losses worse than some 12 year olds do in video games or what not.
Its even funnier how people start talking about how Gaborik “isnt that good” or start saying “all he has is” etc.
Thats a joke, everyone has praised him soooo much all year long but now he goes into a little slump and people are talking about how he doesnt have good hands, or that the only thing he can do is shoot? It was ridiculous some of the things i read last night. This guy and Lundqvist have completely carried this team when theyve had success this season. If anyone has watched the penguins at all this year, Malkin has had his struggles too, he has no hands either right? and can only shoot right? People on here are on drugs, this team is not a great hockey team just face it, which most already have, but dont start ripping the only players that are actually contributing, i dont care if gaborik has been in a slump he has been the best skater on this team far and away this year and i gota read about people saying how hes not that good, absolute stupidity

  51. Wicky -hmmm, I just looked at the pics again. You’re right, of course. I’d call them light brunettes. I think it’ll change.

heck, all i said is the guy needed a lil rest for his state of mind. He’s the whole show offensively, and it just looks like its starting to take a toll on his psyche. Force them to play without him for a game or two. Maybe then he won’t be taken for granted.

  53. well torts and brooks jst found themselves on sports soup. total dorks!! that veeerrrrsssuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuus game was actually very good. my boy yandle and lombardi had good games. stevens had me rollin with his monotone zombie voice. his face doesnt even move. he just sits there and talks without moving his lips. hes probably dead and the versus guys got a ventriloquist back there.

  54. Stevens= mummy.

Linda, force them to play without Gaborik for a game or two?
I would just text both games in. Fast. On 3G network.

ilb, aves and everlast should be AWESOME at that!!!!!!! definitely a victory!!!

  56. Rob M= I’m not saying it’s right but there’s a lot of built up anger in the Rangers fanbase. Myself included. We’re without a doubt the most loyal and passionate fans out of any team in this region. We care so much. And management has disrespected us.

We’ve witnessed what should have been our franchise shut down Dman (Norstrom) and franchise PP QB (Zubov) traded while still young. Had bad drafts for years. Had three very good prospects (Cherneski, Kloucek, Blackburn) had their career cut short in which two of the three could have been prevented.

We’ve had misdeveloped youngsters like Malholtra, Savard, Zidlicky, Dawes, etc. and a GM who half the time seems to know what he’s doing and the other half has no clue.

We sat through 7 horrendous years of hockey where anyone on this blog could have gotten them out of, and now have to deal with three stiffs (Redden, Roszival, Drury) taking up a major part of our cap.

I could go on, so yeah, collelctiveley, we’re pissed.

There’s been some good, and there will be some good, but it takes time to get over all this crap, so until this team is a real contender or gets a banger on D or makes good cap decissions. we’re all just venting and going a little nuts.

And John Stevens=generic Wall Street worker #17.

just sent ya a request…you may as well join the boneheads group too!! lmao i’ll do the sather invite once you reply, or you canjust access it off my wall.

that is totally weird! hope the boneheads show up in force!! someones organizing something, gotta represent! If I had the $$$$ I’d fly in just for that!

i think i’d pee my pants if voros tweeted that! You KNOW none of the guys would EVER bring that up in such a public way. Too much class for that, or they’d be traded the next day!!

  60. Linda

“I elect CCCP to be Captain of the blog! (Seriously)”

I like that way it sounds…but I’m afraid that after one of the losses I might just lose it and actually RUIN some sort of a global holiday!

That Rangers Blanket is HOT! Definitely get me one!

  61. For anyone that wants to catch a slip-up on the behalf of click on the main page, the Caps blast Isles tab. The fourth video should be “Laich splits the D”.

The announcer clearly says the Islanders are playing ______ defense.

    I found it quite humerous.

  62. Nice find, What the HECK! The announcer does say “And its turning to sh!tty hockey” LMAO! Is that how these tools in Washington call the game?

  63. Toe-Wicky-Frenchchops (gabby, just get 26 more!!) on

nice “poopy” link heck, good find!!!

Jamal mayers has requested his agent seek a trade…i’d rather see him in our line up nightly than higgy, atleast he stands up for teammates and scraps!

  64. I always liked Mayers on the Blues but the truth is he isn’t an upgrade over Voros or Brashear. If Tornoto were to take Brashear and maybe a low level prospect or pick, maybe, but doubt that’s gonna happen.

On the other hand, I’m a big Exelby fan, that guy plays with an edge and attitude.

  65. Toe-Wicky-Frenchchops (gabby, just get 26 more!!) on

i agree about exelby. I’d love to see us get volchenkov from the sens or carkner from them. Souray would be an upgrade back there for sure, valabik from atl…sutton or witt from the isles!

  66. get rid of the gm, and go from there. Otherwise it will be deja vu all over again. It’s a shame that the only way might be to not make the playoffs. While the coach keeps rearranging the chairs on the titanic with no consistency, and then blames his players. Even an All Star team would be confused. And this is no all star roster. Thanks to the 2 of them.

  67. we should put dru back on the 4th line. see how he likes it there . he quickly scored 2 goals immediately after being demoted. since those 2 goals, hes gotten just 2 more in the last 20 games or close to that. drury should have at least 15 goals. our rookie is now ahead of him. kotalik should be used only on the pp and 4th line. i mean after last game he really couldve helped. brash should never play on msg ice again. move voros up o the 3rd line because he can help create a forecheckk as good as anyone of our top guys at this point. have boyle move up a line too. have dru, kots and lisin on the 4th line. theyd be just as good as they are now. get boyle and voros onto the top 3 lines for size. hell, put voros on prospals wing with gabby. scratch higgins for a few and put EC in his place. trade rozy and sangs for a tough banging d man and waive redden for one of the kids in hartford. illka or sauer. somebody whos the most physical. put staal n girardi on the bottom pair. let them play pattycake with each other until they figure it out. gotta sell at the deadline. whoever except cally, gabby,AA,DZ,Gil,and maybe duby, if he can start to play better. it would be a waste to sell off any picks or prospects. we want as many as possible come next training camp. higgins, prospal,ec,kots can all be gone along with brash who might be on the books, but maybe we can retire him like naslund.

  68. Mikey, that’s a plan. Albeit a long one, but a plan. Perhaps you should a GM. You forgot to keep Hank.

  69. What if we could get Phaneuf? Would there be a “sloppy seconds” issue? It would be a much better $6.5m spent on Dion than on Redden, even if him and Avery had to be at opposite ends of the locker room and bench and take separate flights to road games.

Eklund reckons Calgary are interested in Higgins – not sure why as he couldn’t hit a cow’s arse with a banjo, but that might also have some legs if we are getting mentioned around Olli Jokinen or Phaneuf.

Personally, Higgins is a good all-round player but he has zero scoring instincts and unless we can coach that into him we must cut ties with him and try and get a pick in return, not a rental for a position we are covered for (Jokinen).

The same with Brashear, Redden, Roszival, Kotalik and maybe Prospal – take what you can get (if anything at all), stock up the draft board and the farm and think about bringing Grachev, Stepan and Bourque up next year. If we sneak into the playoffs this year it will be a 1st round exit at the hands of Ovi, Pit, Debbies or Buffalo so why screw up a chance of acquiring some good picks and making some space on the roster.

  70. THE REAL MikeyNJ on

Things to do list to make the NY Rangers a Stanley up Contender:

Get a new Owner: Fire Dolan
Get a new GM: Fire Glen Sather: Insert Jim Shoenfeld
Remove these players from your roster:
Drury, Brashear, Kotalik, Higgins, Girardi, Redden, Rosival.
Coaching Staff: Keep through next season
Current players to keep on Roster:
Hank, Gabby, Dubi, Cally, Prospal, Avery, AA, Lisin, Boyle, Del Z, Gilroy, & Johnson.

See how it easy it is to build a championship team?

If only it were this easy…

  71. UKRanger- Stepan and Bourque are unlikely to be ready next season. But your point is well taken. Phaneuf is a significant upgrade over Redden and is exactly what we don’t have- a young, big, mean SOB with some offensive skills. They will have to iron out their “sloppy seconds” issue with Avery at W77 or elsewhere. Easier said than done.
Anybody else that you mentioned- yes, get the picks, shed off some salary and see what one or two AHLers can do. I think even with that roster they may get in the playoffs considering how weak the EC is.
Jokinen would be a mistake. He isn’t a first line center by any means. And we have plenty of 2nd and 3rd liners. Unfortunately, Jokinen does smell like a typical Sather move.

  72. 4Generations and only 4Cups on

If the Rangers trade up, which they will because Sather never gives up, I’d love to see Phaneuf, Visnovsky or Ponikarovsky come to the Rangers. I really liked Nik Antropov and we really need an imposingly large forward. I’ve heard that Ryane Clowe is on the block too, which would be amazing if we got him. If we actually traded for physical players, or superb puck movers, it’d be really nice.

I’m not sure- again- why Olli Jokinen is not 1st line talent. Due to his past mercenary jobs his role seems very diminished. On a depleted Rangers line up, a former perennial 30 goal centerman (very rare) could do very good business with a winger like Gaborik.

I wouldnt mind some big, strong guys coming our way.
