Some quotes I gathered. I’ll come back with the Rangers’ post-game package tacked on at the bottom. Don’t miss the Tocchet quote.
Chris Drury:
“It was an emotional game against Montreal. The fans were really into it and we were energized and coming back tonight, I think it was important we showed up and played as hard as we did.”
“I think a lot of guys are feeling pretty good, not only with our legs but when we have the puck. It seems like guys are confident right now, making plays, and I think overall, as Torts preaches, we’re playing the right way. We’re getting results from that.”
“When you see a guy like (Aaron Voros), willing to do that right off the hop, 10 seconds in, it certainly gets guys’ attention. It gets the crowd’s attention, and it fired us up.”
Aaron Voros: (who didn’t get to hear the Voros chant, because his right eyebrow had been split open).
“They changed (Marty) St. Louis right away for Konopka, so I knew kind of what time it was. And he came after me right away. If that’s the way they want to start the game, that’s fine. I’m confident in my abilities to handle that. That’s part of my job.”
“Now it feels like we’re playing the game the right way, whereas before we were winning by one or two, but Hank was winning the game for us. Now Hank’s doing his job and we’re helping him on the other end.”
“Some people think hitting takes away from the offense, but they go hand-in-hand. The more you hit, the more things open up. You start with your bread and butter, which is the physical game.”
“Every guy did his job tonight.”
On drawing the penalty by not fighting Konopka again: “Junk time. There’s so much that can happen. The second fight of the night I split my eye open, so it’s meaningless time. All you’re going to do is get banged up. But after I scored, I was kind of maybe overzealous when I hit the glass. So if a guy’s not happy with that, I understand that, and you’ve got to answer at that point.”
On how hard it is to not play in 18 of 22, then to have to put it on the line like that: “I love being a New York Ranger and if that’ what Torts needs me to do, or the boss, Slats, needs me to do, then I’ll do whatever it takes to be here and be a part of this. I think we’ve got something special here and it’s starting to come together, and I love playing in this city and being a Ranger. It’s been a lifelong dream of mine. I understand the things I’ve got to do to stay in the lineup and help the team, and the things I’ve got to get better.”
“It was nice. I remember when I was able to bang them in like nothing.”
John Tortorella:
“I thought the first period we were both giving up chances left and right. We were fortunate we score a few goals. I don’t know if it’s a continuation. We’re just trying to stay consistent with it.”
“We talked about that. We had a pretty emotional ride as we built it in the last game against Montreal. And it’s not about brawling or fighting, but it’s a matter of the same intensity. AV, I believe they changed up, they put Konopka on the ice. That’s part of the game. AV responded and I think that line again gave us a little bit of juice. At the end of the game that stuff happens and the guys were there.”
I asked him if he admires what Voros has been able to do with his role: “I always have, even last year. He didn’t play many games with me last year, when I came in at the end of the year. The guys pull for him. He’s an easy guy to pull for. I have to make decisions along the way, and he hasn’t been part of the process a whole bunch, but he’s never teetered as far as being a good teammate. He’s been skated into the ice as far as an extra. So you’re happy with a guy who stays with it. He scores a goal, and he’s very well-liked by his teammates.”
On the PP time for the fourth line: “It’s a reward, and I’m not interested in trying to run up a score. I wanted to give some guys a chance on it, and they end up scoring a goal.”
On Drury’s goal right after Tampa’s controversial goal: “You may not have an important goal after (an 8-2) game, but that was. to answer back. They’ve got some good offensive people, and even in that first period I felt we weren’t defending that well. So it was important that Dru goes out and scores that goal and gives us a two-goal lead after the first.”
Rick Tocchet:
“They played great. They out-hit us, they outplayed us, they out-everythinged us. They out-coached us. Every facet of the game, they out-did us. Their leaders out-did our leaders. Their goaltenders out-goaltended us. You can go down the list. The only thing we did was the bus was on time to get us to this game. The bus driver was the best thing we had.”

Izzy, do you ever step away from the computer?
My daddy!
What? And leave all this?
Great Quote, smart boy that Voros:
“Some people think hitting takes away from the offense, but they go hand-in-hand. The more you hit, the more things open up. You start with your bread and butter, which is the physical game.”
6th!
Huge traffic today. You guys rule. Keep this up and they might have to send me to more games.
this thing is weird tonight
Rick GREAT JOB!!!
and that Tocchet quote needs to be up on the bulletin board for the rest of the season
WOW that was some quote by Tocchet. Thank you Rick for getting all that for us. Great post!
Aaron Voros..sound like the ultimate team guy actually
Whoa! Carp! Is that all it takes? I’ll do my best to see you are sent out of town as much as possible.
Great quotes by Voros. I lol’d at his use of overzealous.
Wow, Tocchet blasted his team there. Not to say that he wasn’t right on in everything he said, but jeez, talk about publicy ripping your team.
Only if the Rangers keep bringing it like “its already been broughten” you’ll have to represent Rick!!!!!!!! LOL
REPOST
Hello From Tampa, Ranger Fans!
This place looks an awful lot like Madison Square Garden though; right down to the suite they gave me. Messier is down here too? Wait a minute! This IS New York! It’s a home game! I THOUGHT it seemed cold for Florida.
There sure are a lot of trade rumors floating around. I can’t say anything officially yet, but I DID have a conversation with Brian Lawton today. He held out for quite awhile, but he eventually nodded in agreement to trade Lecavalier and Stamkos for Wade Redden, Rozival and Brashear. Then I pulled his head out of the toilet and he began breathing again. So wait for an announcement after the game…
(singing) “Play That Funky Music, White Boy!” That’s Jimmy Dolan’s ringtone . (I think he’s getting the band back together again) Hey there, White Boy! Another sellout! Now you can buy that diamond studded platinum guitar. Did you hear that crowd? I told you, a couple wins and all is forgiven. They were chanting “Voros” for Cripes Sake! I’m good for 5 more years after a game like tonight!
There’s a lot of rumours today ALL OVER the blogs about a Biopic on yours truly. The casting seems a little strange, but I hope I get to have some input there. I was thinking Mel Gibson for Director. He can make another Passion of the Christ-like movie. We’ll have to change the ending, though. I don’t want to end up “just hanging around” like I do in New York. I noticed that one cast member not mentioned was the Rangers Trainer. Mess! Hey Messier! Get on the phone and give Izzy Mandelbaum a call. He’d be perfect!
Brash! Where’s my Millionaire Enforcer! He’s still on the injured list? Well, how are his legs? Well, if he can still walk, have him walk out front and get me a couple Big Macs. And tell him none of that Special Sauce! I found out what they put in it. Muckler loves it, though!
I heard Captain Chris Drury yelling at the top of his lungs in the locker room during the intermission. I suspect he was trying to get the boys fired up for the game. I’m not sure but it sounded a lot like “It’s MY money, and I want it NOW!!!!”
Well, it’s on to Philadelphia for Thursday’s game. Brashear better be in the lineup, or he’ll be walking back to New York! I hope our boys saved some goals…
Ta-Ta for now,
Uncle Glennie
“The bus driver was the best thing we had.”
Instant classic.
LMAO Uncle Glennie

Thanks Rick, ILB is getting nervous!!!
where the heck is dde??? how can he miss a night like tonight??
i understand not running up the score out of respect or whatever, but why not take advantage of an ahl goalie and a team playing horribly being that goal differential is a playoff seed tiebreaker?
That game was definitely NOT BUSH-LEAGUE
LINDA!
The Pimp is right here! (he has to work sometimes;)
MAKO!
Thanks for representing me!
damn that work!!
I was waiting for you to say it, but Mako beat me to it!!
Anytime Bro ;)
We missed ya
Guess what? Captain Clutch has a FEVER! And the only prescription…is more CLUTCH GOALS!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=idO3VjT8sjk
Ha-Ha! Captain Clutch loves that skit! I watch it all the time on my iPod Clutch! Especially during intermissions, when that hothead Torts is ranting about needing more jam, or peanut butter, or whatever he yells about!
As for tonight’s win, the key was obviously Captain Clutch’s CLUTCH game-winning goal! What a winner! SUPER CLUTCH!!! Captain Clutch scoring the game-winner in a blowout, where I’m from (Trumbull) they call that the Chris Drury Special! Ha-Ha! That’s also 2 games in a row with a goal! Captain Clutch is on another hot streak!!! And what about the quote earlier by hockey historian Rick Carpiniello: “These past few games, Chris Drury is skating faster than any Ranger I’ve ever seen, including Pavel Bure, his contract is a steal”…thanks Carp!
Time for Captain Clutch to update my “Best 4th Line Center In The NHL” standings!
1. Chris Drury: 45 games played, 8 goals!
2. Blair Betts: 29 games played, only 6 goals :(
Take that Bettsie!!! Who said Captain Clutch was overpaid???
/peels off in Clutchmobile
““Some people think hitting takes away from the offense…” God, what member of the coaching staff told him that?
You guys (and gals!) are awesome …
Rozsvival was still bush-league, but we won in spite …
I agree RobF. They certainly got no sympathy when the didn’t score for 3 games or so. So no apologies for 8 goals. Actually, they needed the practice…
Yessssss! Capt. Crunch, I mean Capt. Clutch is back!
LMAO @ Tocchet. At least he keeps it real.
I still can’t believe we scored 8 goals…all by different people…and none by Gaborik…what a weird world we live in! I’m sleeping well tonight! BRING ON THE FLYERS!!! What a game that is gonna be, especially after how we came out last time against them and how we’re playing now.
Oh man I’m pumped
NIGHT ALLL!
Uncle Glennie! Don’t you DARE put that “Millionaire Enforcer” Brashear out on the ice. He couldn’t beat a pint of heavy cream.
Keep him busy bringing you snacks after the game.
I just sent this to MSG:
Thank you for taking the time to read my message.
I want to voice my displeasure with not being able to enjoy the Rangers in 60 after missing the highest scoring games of the year. Then I cant even see the highlights on hockey night live.
I dont think its fair for Rangers fans who chose a cable package to include MSG with the sole purpose of watching Ranger games to have to watch Vs ( which i do have and watch) when they are on.
Why is it I can see an Islander post game but no Ranger post game ? Ok so MSG is making more money by putting a few games on VS, well then how about a hockey night live ???
Bleeding Blue and not happy
Bravo Hammerhead!!!!! Good Job! I hope the respond!!!

sorry bro i missed out on the festivities, worked late! Glad you joined FB as well!
The NHL on the fly guys actually gave avery credit for the better play of the rangers the last 5 periods. Gave him credit for his fight saying he knew the team needed an emotional lift and dropped the gloves!! Avery deserves a letter, he really does.
Glad mrs wicky was able to keep you guys entertained on FB in my absence, and she loves the way prospal celebrates as well!!
