Prior to Saturday’s game, the Rangers pre-game skate is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. at the MSG Training Center.
POST-GAME QUOTES
John Tortorella on tonight’s game… “We are again trying to find a way to win at home.  I thought everybody contributed.  Hank (Henrik Lundqvist) contributed when he had to.  Our fourth line contributed.  These games, before you break, you don’t want them to think it is Christmas too early.  I thought we played well and we deserved to win the hockey game.”
Vinny Prospal on tonight’s game…
“Hopefully it is starting to turn around for us.  We have been able to put together the second longest winning streak since the beginning of the season.  It doesn’t matter that the Christmas break comes now, we want to prolong this thing.”
Ryan Callahan on tonight’s game… “We are coming into this with confidence obviously with three big wins on the road.  We weren’t happy what we showed last time we were here.  We came in wanting to prove something and with the confidence from three road wins.”

  1. The chant from the fans tonight was a@@hole. It had nothing to do with the play on the ice, but an Islanders fan getting thrown out of the stands. I was in the 400s as always, believe the fishsticks fan was 300s, possibly 200s

I’ll pull a Drury and wont let this ruin my xmas.

thanks for the info, my wife was inferring from what she heard on tv while rozy had the puck. The chant wasn’t for him, was the booing for him??

  6. don’t worry about it, Jive. You were reporting what was said. Not a biggy.

    Good night, Sally!

This was the second best Festivus ever!

  7. Hey all

I hate when I can’t watch these games live and miss all the action on here.

Sick game! Why can’t they always play like this?? The 3 previous games were teams playing pretty badly so it was nice to kinda validate this win streak against Florida (not that they are elite, but not awful).

  8. At the game tonite. One of the best games they’ve played this season. Controlled the neutral zone and had a great balance of defense and offence. Must keep first line together. Wings were coming back to help the defense throughout the game. Team really gaining much needed confidense.

  9. damn!! looks like i missed another great hockey night here at the Festivus!!! CARP!!

Great hockey game… looks like the boys are starting to get their groove back! Huge 2 points and another stellar performance by the King!

Hanky Hanky you’re no longer cranky
Winning the game feels better than hanky-panky!

  10. btw, i meant to ask this again… where is the other comrade of ours *4everanger?* its been a long time since he posted… dude, come back! the cost is clear! we miss you wisdom!

  11. Nessier

usually when the team wins the fans are pretty happy… its only after the team loses a game fans get a “rub in your face” sellout stat…like “look, maybe we lost, but the house was sold-out anyway, suckers!”

  12. not as angry as before. actually quite relieved that this team made the system work again. kinda hope torts pulls a redden on roszival and benches him even though he was pretty decent on this streak. he was a tad off tonight. lisin was what he should be, dubi was what he should be, but most importantly DRURY was what he should be and i hope he keeps that up. WOOT WOOT RANGAHS!

  13. Now that itsnowed in ny redden wants to stay

Joe michaletti has a crush on Duco.

    Dom Moore has major combover

    rosival assisted on Florida goal

Merry Christmas Carp and all…..Carp thanks for your humor and hard work – this blog is great!

  15. I happen to disagree with Rodent on his evaluation of Vinny’s goals. It wasn’t only Tomas Vokoun being a lefty, but mainly Florida’s d-men going after Gaborik in bunches.

  16. ilb
I agree, Thats what I thought. The fact that Vokoun is leftie may have given him a bit of an advantage, but the lack of coverage certainly caused the goals.

  17. THE REAL MikeyNJ on

Great win! Good solid game from everyone.

And Drury is scoring?? Im amazed
Again keep him on that 4th or 3rd line til end of January, its actually helping him.

LEts go RANGERS, Merry X-mas to all my Ranger Brothers & Sisters, and to Carp and the Bologmama!!

  18. Everyone:

I’m so sorry for “cutting and running” during these down times. After we lost that game to the Thrashers I said we’d make the playoffs. We will! But I just can’t converse at work all depressed. Though I did like the Sather firing rumors.

That said, nice victory. AND MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!

  19. Good morning all! It’s a wonderful day! Christmas is here, the Rangers won a great game and I started the day with a visit to my niece and a hearty laugh from ilb! Life is good.

  20. Linda is a clutch baker on

    Merry Christmas Eve everyone!!!!

Winston, great haiku! Greg, you’re just wild!

  21. BillyDeeWilliams on

I can’t watch this 4th line. With Boyle and Brashear lumbering around the ice, everything just looks like it’s in slow motion. A 4th line needs to bring a bit of energy to the ice, and these guys do nothing but put me to sleep.

  22. And Jive, thanks for the explanation on the chant. I was wondering about that myself since it didn’t seem to go with anything on ice.

What I love about MSG….the announcers keep chatting and there’s a game going on, and all you really hear, loud and clear, while watching on TV is ***hole! Cracks me up.

  23. 4Generations and only 4Cups on

Where do you all think the Sharks would be if they had picked up Gaborik instead of traded for Heatley? If they had dumped cheechoo for somebody over the off-season and added Gaborik and still had Mikhalek, they would be unstoppable.

On another note, what if Gaborik had a natural passing center to get the puck to him? Someone like Marc Savard, Joey T or the likes. He would have 35+

  24. I feel so happy today I swear the Rangers game last night is what I REALLY wanted for Christmas. It’s sad how this small winning streak has improved my mood substantially.

I love watching prospal score he has such a genuine passion for the game and wants to win so badly it shows. I really liked Avery’s game and Cally is just an all around joy to have on our team. Hope you all have a great holiday.

  25. Hi. I just noticed that your site looks like it has a few code errors at the very top of your website’s page. I’m not sure if everybody is getting this same bugginess when browsing your blog? I am employing a totally different browser than most people, referred to as Opera, so that is what might be causing it? I just wanted to make sure you know. Thanks for posting some great postings and I’ll try to return back with a completely different browser to check things out!
