Jose, can you see?

Steve Zipay reports over at his blog that Jose (ThreeOrMore) Theodore will start in goal for the Capitals tonight. Also that Sean Avery is definitely out for a fourth game in a row.

————————

Kevin Lowe will be the commissioner’s guest today, 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. ET on NHL Home Ice (XM Channel 204 and on SIRIUS Channel 208) . The show encourages fans to call-in and ask questions at 1-877-645-6696.

Lowe, in addition to being a borderline Hall of Famer with Edmonton (I think he was) was a crucial member of the ’94 Rangers, who held the team together after the Devils goal with 7.7 seconds left in Game 7 of the Eastern final, and he was the guy to whom even Mark Messier sometimes deferred in terms of leadership.

Here are tonight’s pregame notes.

Enjoy.

  1. Rick,

Great title for the post. This will be an exciting game. Go Gilroy. Go MDZ.

    Lets go Rangers!!!

  2. Pavel,

Good find. I can’t believe they called him up already, great sign tho! Hope to see him in tonight.

  3. According to Zip, Cally might have an upper body injury, and Grachev has been called up just in case.

If Cally is out, the team has to make up for the 19 hits he would throw. lol

If Cally is injured and doesn’t play, at the very least it’s a great call that Grachev is the first call up.

  5. good test today…. interested to see how we stack up with them during regular season play.

Saw Philly/Wash game…. Philly looked good, though Richards got a garbage goal for the hat trick.

  6. VarLAmov gave up four last game to the Flyers, which is more than three! ;) He actually gave up four in the other game he played, too.

  7. Cally’s tough…. i’m confident he’ll play, if not, i’m excited to see what Grachev can do.

  8. Great to see Grachev as the first call up. Stoked to FINALLY be alone to watch the game.

Anyone else think besides me Ovie is going to blitz to score CLOSE to 200 points this season??

  9. Watching Philthies vs. Craps was scary how good these teams are. Not to be pessimistic, before the game, but I don’t think we have a chance with this teams (and Pissburgh)if we play “open” hockey. Too much of a superior skills, depth and toughness. So, Torts strategy has to be flexible. I hope he has enough tools in his system to change tactic depending on a team and probably try neutral zone “trap” and overworking them with thick defense and nonstop fore check, using speedy stings from Gabie, Lisin etc., capitalizing on their inevitable mistakes? Just thinking…
and hoping we will take advantage of Was. inferior goaltending.(unlike last season).

  11. I’ll never be more happy to be wrong in my thinking and see Rangers constantly dominating in their zone and completely eliminating Ovi, Semin, Knuble, Bakstr.and Green, but it isn’t realistic, so we will pray and see, OK? LGR!!!

Putrid Roszi 8 minutes on ice tonight – none if any in the 3rd period. Think Torts has seen enough of his crap? Let’s hope he sends him outta here on a one way ticket to anywhere.
