www.hockeybuzz.com/blog/Eric-Engels/A-Few-Topics-For-Discussion-that-Have-Nothing-to-do-with-3-Way-Trades/82/22402

Read the "Captain Who?" part- It goes on to say that Paul Mara may get Captain considerations in Montreal.

I like Mara, but I that this idea is pretty funny of him being Captain

Of course no cup this year. But the regular season is much longer than the playoffs - I'll be satisfied if every game I watch, at MSG or on TV, there's a good chance to win. Sure it's a drag to not go deep in the playoffs but a miserable regular season is much more painful.

Hey if we signed Bertuzzi, we'd be like the football team of the NHL, you know with all our criminals and all...
hell no!

UK Ranger

you and I both know a Stanley Cup is not happening this season. Wouldnt you rather give a top 9 forward spot to Lisin who had 13 goals in 48 games (thats 22 goals over a full season) for the Coyotes and see what he can do.

If he's not producing then we have Grachev in HFD waiting in the wings...

22 - exactly. Give the young D the roster spots, they get experience and they come back better for it (or we see they can't handle it).

Not all of them will be a success but you've got to think that 2 or 3 of Sauer, Sangs, Potter, Del Z, Heikkinen, Gilroy, McDonough are going to be good enough to make the team this year and can be rotated in 5,6,7 D-spots and used for 12-15 mins a night.
We might not win the cup this year, but i think we are in for some high-scoring games..!!

Mike - i agree, if we sign Bertuzzi then Voros becomes completely pointless and too expensive. We need some size and toughness on those top lines but not at the loss of scoring.
I heard that Voros had been working out at the training facility all summer, presumably to improve his conditioning and get a headstart on all the other 3rd/4th liners and youngsters trying to claim a roster spot.
If he is staying then lets hope he can be the player we saw in October (5G,4A,+9) but not the one from December (1A,-3), and onwards.

I find it funny that we look like we'll finally be going down the youth movement path (Ansimov, Byers, Dubi, Cally, Staal, Potter, Sauer, DelZ etc..) and people are moaning that we should be in for big money trades and free agents. This may be the closest thing we ever get to a re-build, if it doesn't work this year those young players will be back next year more experienced and battle-hardened, and that is how Detroit have done it in the salary cap era.

22figure

thats exactly what I want. I dont understand why people think that this team is winning a cup this year. Even if we get Heatley all it does is open up another hole on defense and down the middle.

I want to see what the kids can do...

If I am Z, I am thinking to myself and out loud, that I am under paid, compared to some of my teammates contracts. So I hope he gets his money and has a good career, wherever that might be. I think the disproportionate contracts on the team versus results hinders team chemistry, and if it doesn't, then hockey players are truly saints.
