Finally, after 3 years, they’re coming to Phoenix. Too long of a time to go without seeing a game.

  2. We have a tough schedule at the end of the year. My company is having a GMHC Roller Hockey Tournament at Chelsea Piers starting in early later this month. We are trying to have four teams and a championship game. Anyone interested can see my on the site.

  3. And This One Will Last A Lifetime on

    not first….
I just checked the opponents/dates/times for my set of tickets this year.

    fairly happy

Lets Go Rangers and our entire (almost entirely) new forward line up.

  4. Mike A,

my roomate might be interested. he currently plays at chelsea and plays in the mrhl

  5. is it still unbalanced or do we play everyone twice in west

remember last year we played 3 teams from west twice home and home and everyone else once

  6. from what moves I see Sather making, he knows he screwed up. Thats why he’s cleaning shop…my fear is that it takes time for teams to gel, and with the constant shuffling of forwards this team never has the chance to mesh…so at the end of next season and our first/second round playoff exit, he will again revamp our forwards and we will never get anywhere

  7. REPOST:

because all of the Bruins’ rivals (at least in division) won’t get ratings for NBC. There’s still talk of a game at Olympic Stadium in Montreal because the Capitals are scheduled to be in Montreal on that rumored date.

So the overseas games aren’t actually starting the season? How does that make any sense with the compressed schedule due to the Olympics? I’m glad they kept with two locations and didn’t expand to four as was thought. I still can’t get over the Florida-Chicago matchup.

  8. Laurel Babcock on

Worst news ever: the NHL and NBC extended their broadcast partnership through 2010-11.

  9. figured it out

    rangers play
    la kings
    st louis all twice

everyone else in west 1 time

  10. Don’t forget olympics this year. I hope Torts gets Lundqvist plenty of rest during the season as last olympics wore him out.

  11. pretty easy schedule to end the year (except the last 2). that should come in handy.

  12. Cross Check Charlie on

I’ll be at the New Year’s Eve game in Raleigh. The Hurricanes always have a NYE game and follow that with a big party at the RBC Center. I’ve been wanting to go, but haven’t. Now, I know I’ll be at the game.

  13. YouveGotGold on

Eric: how many tickets do you have per game? I’m interested in 3 of the games you mentioned on the previous thread:
    Anaheim, Boston, & Detroit

  14. YouveGotGold on

How can the Rangers go the entire season without a single Friday night home game?

  15. Staal Wart

this is a semi-rebuilding season for us. I’m just hoping for a season like last year where we make the playoffs and play a competitive first round and maybe even advance to round 2.

Once our young guys establish themselves some more and Tortorella puts together his team, then we will consistent Stanley Cup contenders.

  16. you gold

i have 2 tix for all home games

last home game of season is a friday night game only friday game

  17. you gold

for 180 for all 3 games there yours but i need to have some deposit otherwise i lose out selling them if yo bail.

    only fair u agree

  18. I bash the Devils almost every post lockout year saying “HA HA they won’t make the playoffs”, but they surprise everyone each time.

Perhaps predicting the reverse will prove beneficial.

The Devils will win the division!

Why couldn’t they seperate the Games in Phx and Colo…. Now have to try and figure how to go to both…. 12 hours of driving… can happen….

  20. CARP

Thanks for pointing out that typo, i didn’t even realize it.

Like i said before, i like the first game against Pissburgh. We were easily fooled into thinking Nyr was a tough team when they beat the crappy Bolts, and at the time the crappy Flyers, and Hawks. And got on that nice streak, until losing to the Sabs, who at the time looked like a playoff team.

Hopefully they ruin their night, that would be sweet. Then we better destroy the Sens the following night.

  21. Cindy Crosby on

All I know is we cant do anything until we have a freakin’ team together…. I am going nuts waiting for a move

  22. Talk about a brutal stretch.. the Canucks have a 14-game road trip from Jan 30th through Mar 10th, thanks to the Olympics!

  23. Chris from Albany on

UGH!!! I can not believe that we have to open our season against the effin Penguins!! Now, we have to sit through their ceremony!! Hopefully we can stick it too em and win that game. Hopefully.

  24. cindy

Timeline: lower bowl expected to be ready for the 2011-2012 seasons and upper bowl for the 2012-2013 seasons

Renovation will be done in phases with the majority done in the summer months to minimize disruptions
Building will remain operational throughout the NHL and NBA seasons

  25. Cool. You’re finally on twitter!

Man, the sched is rough. 3 in 4 days to start with none easy and a nightmarish six-game road trip before 3 more tough games to end.

Nice find TR , Logo is large but if you look closely , its positioned perfectly so theres lots of room in front of each stall. Anyone who steps on it has NO RESPECT , and deserves a punch in the head from Torts!! I could care less if its even bigger…NO STEPPING ON THE LOGO!!!!!!!

  27. ZzZz 13 ZzZz Arbitration saga continues and is getting uglier!!!... says Greg L. on

That logo is the coolest logo in all of sports , Our teams doesn’t even wear the logo …which makes it even cooler~!!!!

  28. No Country For Old Rangers on

why does the NYR always have to close the season with games against PHI?

that 6 game trip is against mostly bad or middle of the pack teams and it’s all on the east coast. could make or break the season

  29. inhankwetrust on

the game is already scheduleed from what i hear at olympic stadium- nov 28 outdoors bet montreal and the caps…should be a dousy

  30. Hey all,

I’ve been reading this blog for quite sometime and I find that it’s a great blog and one of the most informative I’ve read in a while.

With that said I was just on and I looked at the roster and noticed that Z was still on it. When Callahan filed for arbitration and became an RFA he was removed so any reason why Z is on there or am I just being paranoid?

  31. ZzZz 13 ZzZz Arbitration saga continues and is getting uglier!!!... says Greg L. on

Cuz Zherdev is still Rangers property as of right now.

  32. I understand that much but Callahan went through the same thing as Zherdev but Callahan was not on the roster for a while until he resigned.

  33. Why are people so scared to play the Penis’ on opening night ? What’s the big deal, would you rather play a garbage team and get excited aboot our dominant team before we lose 10 games in a row to actual good teams.

I want to see what this teams made of, and we’ll see that the 1st game of the year. Sweet !

  34. Oct 30 at Minn should be fun to hear the boos. I hope Gab puts up at least 2 in the back of the net

  35. Just watched Zubov rip one past Mcclean in game 4 of the 94 cup finals why o why did we ever trade him.

  36. does anyone really think we have a shot against the pens on opening night with the banner and the place rocking.

i hope we spoil the party but if i am a betting man we lose big.

oct 12th orr beats the crap out of brashear

  37. Eric when teams have ceremonys before games they normally come out flat, I am a betting man and the home team loses more often than not on those games.

  38. good news for fios customers,

fios is taking the dolans and cablevision to FCC court over not providing MSG HD MSG+ HD etc to them

they hope to have the issue resolved by the start of hockey and basketball

  39. “good news for fios customers”

Bad news for everyone else. Tickets prices going up even more now to cover Dolan’s legal fees ;)

  40. one interesting note -the players used to dump and chase so much more with the delayed offsides rather than play with the puck in the middle of the ice-how many times over the last few years have u seen roszival, poti, redden, etc get caught by trying to stick handle or make a lateral pass on the delayed offsides…..just get the damn puck deep let the forwards recycle give up the puck and get reset on defense….

leetch a goal and three assists absolutely amazing-amazing how fluid he was skating backwards with confidence in his offensive zone-when was the last time we had faith in a dman at the point position!

  41. I remember Leetch. Just imagine if he hadn’t slipped on a patch of ice and broke his ankle. Stepping out of a cab.

Yes yes go Rangers. Still need a quality first line center who can distribute the puck to Gabby.

Best part of the olympics… Womens curling!!

  42. “I remember Leetch. Just imagine if he hadn’t slipped on a patch of ice and broke his ankle. Stepping out of a cab.”

Im sorry, but i cant help but laugh after reading that. Im not laughing at him, just the overall image of someone coming out of a cab and slipping. I hope Gabby doesn’t do that, he might break his leg, lose two inches on his weeny, and his balls might burn off just from a simple little slip.

  43. It actually depresses me watching him play knowing he was the best d man we ever had and probablly ever will have, and then thinking of what we have now eehhh!

  44. bull dog line on

ask carp why the Rangers traded Zubov. he will give you the answer, right carp.

  45. Leetch was the best Ranger ever. I never saw Rod G play or anyone earlier than the late 70’s, but he was the best by far.

Back to curling. I was lucky enough that my wife was late in her pregnancy so there were lots of tossing and sleepless night where we watched together. Don’t think I missed a game. And the swedes were hot too if I remember.

  46. Laurel Babcock on

From Staal: “my fear is that it takes time for teams to gel, and with the constant shuffling of forwards this team never has the chance to mesh…”

my friend, my thoughts exactly! Hate to bring up that year again, but Carp and I talked about it on the last chat. That year those guys gelled and meshed!

Asides: Greg, I adore how your name expands.

CC and Chris: I would switch to fios in a heartbeat but for my beloved MSG…can you get that on the other system? I haven’t checked…

Cindy: love how you call Carp Rick….I think maybe only his family does that?

  47. Carp. When the time comes maybe we can get an olympic curling blog going. Laurel can lead it.

Anybody wishing we had tried to get O’Sullivan last year at the deadline.

Wishful thinking- Lisin and Dubi sign for the same deal. $1.3M per for two years.

Just don’t think the tinkering is done.

  48. Laurel Babcock on

Hmmm. Paul, am I flattered or not? I don’t think tinkering is done either.

  49. Mike A, I live in the Chelsea area and love playing with the fellas. This tourney you are involved in, are there changing rooms, and do we shoot a ball or rubber. Count me in.

  50. Flattered for sure. Please.

By the way. My wife hates when I “blog” while she watches “so you think you can dance”. But how can I actually watch that show. No better time to connect to my fellow Ranger fans than during this show.

    Need hockey. Now.

  51. Paul G LOL thats exactly what my girlfriend is doing right now and every wed./thur. I usually watch the Mets but no game tonight and I just dont think I can stomach watching them the rest of the year anyway. I agree that is the worst show I can not watch even a minute, but I do get entertained when the show is over and my girlfriend tries to dance like them, priceless moments.

  52. Laurel Babcock on

Ha! Thanks Paul….I’m sure your wife is great, but tell her that a girl said this…her and icky tv show + you and blog time = healthy marriage

  53. Cable/Satelite – $100/month

Three hours every Wed + Thurs of your life you will never get back so you can watch your girl “so you think you can dance”? – priceless.

  54. Laurel Babcock on

And you can still Ranger Report, more priceless…right! nite all….hope for good Dubi news soon.

  55. onecupin69years and counting on

Most teams would be happy to have Callahan and Dubinski and would look to lock them up for more than 2 years.
I don’t know what Dubi is asking for, maybe too much or maybe the Rangers are low balling him ,hence arbitration..

but what is a fact is that Ranger management is star crazy and goes ape sh t over veteran players and thinks nothing of over paying them and giving them long term contracts.

I think Dubinski will be signed and will be trade bait, this team is a retirement home for aging has been’s .

  56. Understand that the 1994 team was great character wise/gelling etc- but there were a bunch of contributers that weren’t there very long-

Larmer, Anderson, McTavish, MATTEAU, MATTEAU, MATTEAU- Lidster (haha)

Esa played 12 games the year before- I’m sure I’m forgetting some-

  57. onecupin69years and counting on

Philly ,boston rivalry ? I hope national geographic or the discovery channels explore the legend of this rivalry.

Who said the NHL and bettman have a hard on for Dolan and the rangers?

  58. the Rangers are in no rush to sign Dubinsky. Its not like he’s a UFA or anything. relax!

  59. Here is a cool link about the 1994 team and its construction

I think the Rangers are hoping that our core can be Hank, Staal, Girardi, Callahan, Gaborik- then add to that with hopefully a couple of the D prospects and Dubi-

The 94 team was really Richter, Mess, Gravy Leetch Buek Zubov, Kovalev (maybe) as the core with the other guys built around to compliment them-

I think the vision is similar, we are really missing the offesnive d-man and the emotional leader (2 of the hardest things to get)

  60. And I think (foolishly) that the plan was to have Drury be that emotional leader and Redden the Offensive D-man- whoops!

  61. Dr. Ogrodnick on

    One cup:

It takes two to tango. I would imagine most of the RFA’s and their agents are perfectly content taking 2 year deals so they have the opportunity to renegotiate at that point.

  62. bull dog line … you know why they traded Zubov. First of all, Colin Campbell had a major problem with him in ’92-93 when Campbell was demoted from Rangers assistant to the minor-league coach in mid-season after Roger Neilson was fired and replaced by minor-league coach Ron Smith. Zubov and Kovalev quit on him in the playoffs because they didn’t want to play in the minors after getting their first taste of the NHL.

Then in ’94-95, Campbell became the Rangers head coach, and the Rangers got outmuscled from the playoffs by Philadelphia, in a series in which Campbell (and others in the organization) felt that Zubov played soft, turned away from hits, coughed up the puck. The team feeling was also that the Rangers needed more beef, so they traded Petr Nedved, who was softer than ice cream, and Zubov for Ulf Samuelsson and Luc Robitaille. The big mistake was that they could have had Teemu Selanne in a trade that would have included Zubov. Obviously, Robitaille — a Hall of Famer — would not work out at all in New York. So the trade was a huge bust, even though Samuelsson played well in his brief time as a Ranger.

but, bull dog, you know that already.

  63. … also, it became more of a disaster when Zubov and Nedved thrived on Jagr’s Penguins … and when the Rangers the next season faced two finesse teams in the first two rounds and were ousted by Zubov and Nedved and Jagr.

  64. Trading zubov sucked, but to get ulfie I would have done it (wish we had an ulfie type now on our team)

  65. No reason to fight laurel (unless you are going to let me write war and peace again after you move to a new post…haha) Ulfie was the kind of sandpaper/grit we need on the blueline. Bet hank would love to have a guy or two like that back there on this team!

  66. Anyone else watch that game that was on MSG tonight…Game 4 94? I hit rewind about 5 times when Leetch did the coast to coast and dished to Kovalev and he roofed it…that was sweet,
or the spin o rama against the Devs in game 7. Leetch was an amimal.
    The Rangers need another Leetch.
I hope DZ turns out to be our next star offensive D man.

  67. Laurel Babcock on

Thanks Wicky :) off to Stanley and Cup….if you don’t know what that means, ask Pavel or CCCP..

  68. hope the Rangers crush the debbies on Oct 5, and every time thereafter. I despise Lemaire and his boring bs brand of trapping, clutch and grab hockey that dragged the league down in the first place.

  69. Carp, do you know when Gaborik will be introduced at the Garden or was his visit to the training facility all we’re gonna get until camp.

  70. onecupin69years and counting on

They don’t need an old Zubov now, coming off an injury.he may not last the season.Think young.
Thank God there’s no european/mexico games.

  71. Laurel for 1 he still would have been playing for us if they werent stupid, would have been nice to have him the first 3 years after the Lockout, plus I think you can find a nasty d man but it is much more difficult to find a Zubov type as we have been searching ever since leetch.

  72. NO ZUBOV! Old puck moving defensemen don’t work. We would be better of signing an aging crotchety stay at home dman rather than investing false hopes in Zubov’s name. His name carries too many connotations…’s been 14(ish) years! If we sign Zubov, he’ll out-injure Gaborik!

  73. This team needs some cheap veteran leadership. If Shanny can come for around 1.5m, then so be it. If Zubov can be had for under 3m, then so be it. Either way, Rozsival has to be dumped.

  74. paul, the truth on the Leetch broken ankle is that he was piss drunk. It’s been well documented. That season was a nightmare anyway.

When they traded Zubov, I’ll never forget it cause I’d just got home from work and it was announced on FAN. And I just remember thinking, “Noooooooo!!!!!!!!!!”

It wasn’t such a bad deal bc Ulfie was good here and Luc while he didn’t light it up wasn’t as bad as many made him. But trading away our PP QB was idiotic.

As far as what Carp said about Binghamton, come on. That’s a joke and proves how idiotic Campbell really could be. Especially the way he handled Kovalev.

  75. Guys just to be clear im not lobbying for zubov now im talking about trading him in the first place.

  76. ZzZz 13 ZzZz Arbitration saga continues and is getting uglier!!!... says Greg L. on

At the time Ulf was better defensively than Zubov. We needed size to handle the Jagrs,Scott Stevens and power guys like Lemieux.

Laurel :Yeah chemistry is what Jagr always preached and young Staal knows as well that with new teammates again , the Rangers could be going through an agjusting faze.

thank you :) ’bout me name

  77. ZzZz 13 ZzZz Arbitration saga continues and is getting uglier and uglier!!!... says Greg L. on

  78. Noo Shanny and Nooo Zubov – we don’t need ageing vets to provide leadership the guys we’ve already got should be enough and the younger players need to step up. Signing old guys to play in Torts system is not going to work unless they are rested regularly and we don’t have the cap space for that kind of luxury.

Dubi, Staal, Hank and Cally need to show their leadership credentials, they’ve been around for a few seasons now and should be starting to take a more prominent role in the locker room. I also think Drury will stamp his authority on the team and score more this year, it is definately HIS team now. I don’t expect to see him ranting and raving, thats Torts job, Drury is a lead by example guy and he’s not going to give you a controversial soundbyte or joke after every game (like Gomez). I also think that Gabby’s goals will mean less pressure on Drury to score all the time.

  79. bull dog line on

I knew i would get a good response from you.
you are accurate in all your details about that trade, and the following season.
the only thing I will say is that,The main reason(not the only) they traded Zubov, was Campbell did not like him.

  80. I wonder if Sather is going to go with a very young defence this season. Low in experience less in the pay check. That will give him some extra cash for someone like, I don’t know maybe Danny Heatley. Anyone think that might happen?

  81. Speed Ranger on

    You’ve Got Gold —

re: Friday night home games — Just in case no one answered you, the Knicks play home games Friday nights. Rangers (virtually) never play home on Fridays.

  82. I am proud of what Sather has done so far this off season……..

That being said, he forced it upon himself, but i beleive we can all say as a group, thanks to Glenn.

    What say you?

  83. Zhitnik on my Peca on

    “What say you?”

I think he’s just cleaning up another mess that he created himself. In 10 years (or so) here, he’s done it like 3 or 4 times. He had no clue what he was doing under a cap coming out of the lockout, and now he’s late to the party, but seems to have an idea at least.

  84. I agree, but as long as the other shoe doesnt fall anytime soon, i think we are finally on the right path.

On another note………..there aint no way in hell we are going to make any noise in the 2009-2010 season without a REAL top line center.

    Your thoughts on this?

  85. Staal Wart:

Just getting back to Leetch in that game 4 against Vancouver; if you notice as he comes across the Vancouver blue line, he’s hacked twice across the arms, the 2nd time it looked like a guy chopping wood, and he still was able to get that pass across to Kovy for the roof job. It was an incredible rush and if you watch Leetch after the goal is scored, his right arm is hanging limp by his side. He was one of the greatest we ever had and was one of those players that changed games he was in. Leetch was awesome!!!!

  86. good news for duby. he could get the top spot, but it seems they are tryin to get someone else first which doesnt inspire confidence when they say that he will get a shot, only if we cant find anyone better. thats basically what he said. i really dont think duby is good enough for he 1st line. i think 2nd line is where he should be. he will be more productive paired with gabby, but it might not be the best thing for gabby to play with someone below his level. i think sharp would be awesome and should be playin on our 1st line and duby on the 2nd. he did play well with jagr, but jagr doesnt need an awesome center to play well. he runs his own show. gabbys diferent. he could use 1 big gritty guy to crash the net and a good passing center. duby is pretty good passer i just dont think hes good enough yet. zherdev wouldve been a good fit for the other winger on that line. then duby could crash the net and not have to be the playmaker

  87. I’ve ben traveling for work the last 3 days and come to find out we traded Korpikoski??
Did I miss a blog on that?

    Another move for a nobody!!

  88. Guys, I’ve been saying that Sullivan will be Tortorella’s only assistant coach since the day Tortorella was hired. The only reason Sullivan didn’t come then was that he was still employed by Tampa Bay.

bull dog, yes Campbell disliked him. Wouldn’t you dislike a player who quit on you in the playoffs in your first head-coaching opportunity?

  89. Anyone who hasn’t watched Tortorella’s interview at the prospect camp really should. He pretty much said that the team was too soft, out of shape and didn’t care enough last season and that the rookies will get every opportunity to make the team and play.

Anisimov and Gilroy will be on the team and as of now probably Byers and another rookie defenseman. How many playoff teams from last year are going to have 4+ rookies on the opening day roster???
